FUTUREMANDA's SparkPeople Blog http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal.asp?id=FUTUREMANDA FUTUREMANDA's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community SparkPeople.com http://assets2.sparkpeople.com/assets/nav/logo_spark.gif http://www.sparkpeople.com/ Back? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5468836 Well, I sort of disappeared for a couple of weeks.

It has been a bit frustrating trying to count calories when I'm not generally in control of what I'm eating. Weekends are especially hard; sometimes, nothing I ate is really in the tracker and I have to sit down and figure out what the closest thing is, guess at how much I ate, and so on. It gets me sort of upset.

So I stopped tracking. I stopped logging in. I've kept working out (pat on the back!) but I've started shov... Wed, 28 Aug 2013 11:14:58 EST A New Road http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5440146 On Saturday, July 27, I moved into a basement apartment in the house of family. This will give my partner and I a chance to pay for his schooling while also paying off my student loans at a good clip. Plus, these people are great and their kitchen looks like an Ikea catalogue.

The downside? I have a lot less control over what I eat and when and how much. It's more difficult to say no, to eat alternative foods, to scale down in portion, to balance my hunger, etc -- both for practica... Wed, 31 Jul 2013 19:00:48 EST Some New Short-Term Goals http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5432401 Today marked my second week back at Spark People, although I've been at this lifestyle change thing since September. Recently, I met all of the short-term goals that I set for myself:

1. I broke my plateau!
2. I officially have a "normal" BMI!

But this means I need some new goals! So here they are:

1. Drink all my water (or most!). (About 2.75 L was recommended to me)

2. Continue to work out every day through this upcoming move. Ensure that my ... Wed, 24 Jul 2013 21:48:48 EST Life Is Not a Competition http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5429860 Sometimes I worry that all my talk about losing weight and getting fit is annoying or harmful to others. I try to be mindful of other people's experiences and struggles and how they differ from my own. When I seek validation from others for how far I've come, for things I've achieved, I try not to do it in a competitive way -- I want people to be happy for me because I achieved something I set out to do. And I don't want that validation at the expense of someone else.

So it's doubl... Mon, 22 Jul 2013 21:12:25 EST Plateau Busted! Goal Update http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5428181 Weigh-in: 142 lbs

My plateau has officially been busted! So here are my goal updates:

Goal 1: Break the plateau - CHECK!

Goal 2: Become "normal weight" (lose 2 lbs) - CHECK! (99% sure... I'll know more on Tuesday when I can access a more accurate scale)

Goal 3: Get on track for a loss of 1 lb (at least) every week or two.

So about goal 3... I found my BMR as calculated by SP last night and it is significantly lower than how I had it calcu... Sun, 21 Jul 2013 11:28:27 EST Exercise: A 7-Day Challenge http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5427621 I've been in a pretty deep plateau for a month or two now. I'm not sure if it is because I started strength training (and rapidly built up some muscle) or if my body has just needed some time to adjust.

In an effort to kick the plateau, which has been really getting to me, I decided to decrease my workout length/intensity a bit and increase frequency to every day.

Originally, I envisioned continuing to do Billy Blanks 55-minute boot camp workouts every other day, and y... Sat, 20 Jul 2013 20:06:25 EST Updated Goals and Strategies http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5422217 It seems that the last time I was using SparkPeople, it was February 2010! I thought I'd take the opportunity to look at how far I've come and where I am heading.
