FROSTY99's SparkPeople Blog FROSTY99's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Much to be Thankful For I am feeling very blessed this thanksgiving. My DH was needing rotator cuff surgery and in order to be cleared for that surgery, he had to see his primary dr who sent him to see his cardiologist. Well, it had been nearly 3 years since his last stress test so that was ordered before he would be approved. He failed!! Of course he was then scheduled for a heart cath and truthfully we weren't expecting it to show much. Shocker, his widow maker was more than 90% blocked so he received a stent... Thu, 23 Nov 2017 18:10:37 EST We survived Irma sure did a lot a traveling in Florida and none of us could pin her down! She could not make her mind exactly which vacation spot she wanted to visit so she pretty much hit them all!!

We decided to not evacuate but we did batten down the hatch, put away everything that could take flight and on Sunday morning we went about 10 miles to ride out Irma with our friend's daughter. We had 6 adults, 1 teenager, 5 shih-tzus, a cat and a guinea pig!! We passed most of Sunday playing c... Mon, 11 Sep 2017 22:07:22 EST Just Shoot Me Well I feel that way at times. My poor DH has been in the hospital 6 times since he got a stent in May. He is currently in there for his 3rd GI bleed and still no answers. Tonight his GI dr is lucky I didn't totally come unglued and choke him.

He came in to tell us the "bad" news that the nuclear test didn't show the source of the bleed again. Then he proceeded to tell us that we needed to get in ASAP and tell the ER staff to do the test STAT. Yeah, right, they are going to ... Fri, 11 Aug 2017 00:01:32 EST Update on DH If you followed my earlier blog, you know that my DH had to get a stent in May. Since then we have been on a roller coaster ride. When a person gets a stent, the dr's like to put one on a blood thinner for a year. However, that has not worked well as they have tried two different ones and both ended up causing him to have a GI bleed. In between the two drugs, the drs tried to just keep him on a full strength aspirin and that ended up with him developing possible stenosis (not sure without... Thu, 20 Jul 2017 22:59:17 EST Just When you think You have it all Planned out DH has been having issues with his shoulder for the past year and his orthopedic surgeon has been giving him shots during the time. The first one helped him for nearly 6 months so when he got the 2nd one, we had high hope it too would give him another 6 months. Nope, didn't even last 3 months. Dr. decided to give him a dual shot on the 3rd visit hoping that would bring relief but it only helped for a few weeks so DH decided it was time to discuss surgery. Now mind you this shoulder was re... Psalm 100:4 (NIV)

I've never been good at keeping New Year's resolutions, but it's not for lack of trying. For nearly a decade, I was religious in my approach. Sat, 8 Aug 2015 15:59:09 EST Wake Up Call I have been walking pretty much most days for the last 3 years and thought I was eating healthy (at least most of the time) but my labs say otherwise. Today while I was waiting for DH during his PT, I was reading Prevention and they were talking about a different diet approach where you do a modified fast every other day-limiting oneself to 500 calories every other day. I don't know that I could do that long term but it might be something to do to jump start the weight loss again. Normal weight loss doing this is approximately 2 lbs a week but it has been shown ...
