I am not praying for the world, but for those You have given me, for they are Yours.... My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in Me through their message... Father, I want those You have given Me to be with Me where I am, and to see My glory, the glory You have given Me because you loved Me before the creation of the world. Joshua 1:9

Since man first cowered before the dark unknown, God has understood our timidity. That’s why He Himself goes with us. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose. Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground co... Tue, 23 Sep 2014 15:16:06 EST September 11: Don’t Just Remember, Pray
By Michelle Medlock Adams, September 10, 2014

September 11th will forever mean something different since the unimaginable tragedy that struck America in 2001. If 9/11 taught us anything as a country, it taught us to cherish our loved ones a little more and slow down long enough to appreciate the life around us.

I remember that day like it was yesterday. I watched news coverage almost non-stop–numb, shocked and heartbroken. And I specifically remember how one of th... Thu, 11 Sep 2014 17:27:09 EST Believe in Your Prayers
I will tell of the kindnesses of the Lord, the deeds for which he is to be praised, according to all the Lord has done for us–yes, the many good things he has done for Israel, according to his compassion and many kindnesses. Isaiah 63:7 (NIV)

Sometimes when I pray, I am praying but I am not really believing that my prayers hold any weight. Even as I have been praying I have been doubting that my prayers would be answered in the way I wanted them to be. This is probably not th... Thu, 4 Sep 2014 17:33:32 EST Fear The message in church today was about fear and I thought it fit so well with what many of us are dealing with on here.

Fear stops us from moving forward with our life.
The fear of loss.
The fear of failure.
The fear of rejection.
The fear of the unknown.

How many of us are hanging onto this weight because we are afraid? We are afraid of what will happen when we aren't carrying it around. It has become our security blanket. If we don't really try, t... As it was drizzling, DH decided to skip them and that might have been wise as I slipped on the flagstone walkway and hurt my knee and twisted my back but glad I got to see the gardens.
<img... Thu, 24 Jul 2014 16:28:35 EST Purposeful Prayer
Early in the morning, well before sunrise, Jesus rose and went to a deserted place where he could be alone in prayer. Mark 1:35 (The Daily Life Bible)

Jesus had only three years to accomplish His life’s purpose. His days were filled with activities such as healing the sick, restoring sight to the blind, and preaching in the synagogue. He taught to the masses, fed thousands, dined with society’s outcasts, ministered to individuals, comforted the grieving, and raised their dead... Thu, 10 Jul 2014 13:48:20 EST MY TRAVEL PLANS FOR 2014
I have been in many places, but I've never been in Kahoots. Apparently, you can't go alone. You have to be in Kahoots with someone. I've also never been in Cognito. I hear no one recognizes you there. I have, however, been in Sane. They don't have an airport; you have to be driven there. I have made several trips there, thanks to my children, friends, family and work.

I would like to go to Conclusions, but you have to jump, and I'm not too much on physical activity anymore. ... Tue, 8 Jul 2014 12:34:04 EST You know you have reached that age! I hate to say it, but I have reached that age where it seems like every time the phone rings it is not to bring good news but to tell us of another friend who is having a health crisis or has passed away.
How do we handle these situations? Are we relieved when one of our dear friends has passed that they are no longer suffering or are we sad that they have left us? Thu, 13 Feb 2014 23:01:29 EST Thanks for the Prayers for DH As most of you know DH was diagnosed with prostrate cancer in Oct 2011 and underwent radiation treatments that ended in Feb 2012. Mon, 27 Jan 2014 17:28:25 EST Psalm for a Winter's Day Here’s a verse to meditate on that reminds us: God’s in charge. Let our perfect plans go.

I love running in the cold. I love the feel of a bracing wind on my face and a leafless landscape where vistas lie far and wide.

I love looking at the wildlife in the park, the birds that haven’t migrated, the skunk that survives on what mankind puts in trash bins. At the beginning of each year I think about what I want to accomplish. Once I have established an objective, I try to visualize what it would look like. Don’t be too ambitious about how much time you devote to it. Better to take on a challenge that’s manageable than one that’s going to overwhelm you and frustrate you until y... Thu, 2 Jan 2014 16:36:14 EST Not so good news-prayers please Today my DH saw the surgeon (urologist) and he had a 2nd scope done of his bladder to check on the 2 prostrate stones that the other urologist had seen. Today the urologist said there is only 1 stone but there is a growth on the bladder and he is 99% sure it is cancerous. DH is scheduled for outpatient surgery on January 14 to remove the growth and it will be sent off to be evaluated. At this point, we do not know if any other treatment will be needed. Luke 2:14

It was two days after Christmas, and I was frustrated about how busy I’d allowed myself to become during the hectic holiday season. I’m glad Christmas is over, I thought as I wandered down a side street in the town we were visiting.

Something about the propped-open front door of a small church prompted me to step inside. In the dim interior, a waist-high manger scene was arranged under... Thu, 26 Dec 2013 18:35:24 EST The Carpenter
Once upon a time, two brothers who lived on adjoining farms fell into conflict. It began with a small misunderstanding and it grew into a major difference and finally, it exploded into an exchange of bitter words followed by weeks of silence.

One morning there was a knock on John's door.... Luke 10:27 (TIB)

Many years ago, my prayers to God tended to resemble letters to Santa Claus–long lists of things I wanted God to do for me.

Nowadays, however, I seldom close my eyes to pray that a simple little anecdote doesn’t flash across my mind. When to relinquish?

By Rick Hamlin, New York, New York

Each phrase of the Lord’s Prayer is worthy of a book, but the one that catches me, the hardest to live by and accept is “Thy will be done.” For me, it only comes after a battle of wills, that point of surrender. You can’t really be helped by anyone unless you acknowledge your need. I can get so defensive when I hear criticism that I’m unable to listen to the good in the criti... Thu, 31 Oct 2013 16:10:15 EST
