Fri, 11 Mar 2011 13:19:32 EST so originally it was 1 blog per week. have you had
those days
those weekends, really.
where you fell apart?
where all of your hard work
your restraint
your hours of exercise
all boiled down to nothing
and the floodgates opened
and you eat that huge bowl of pasta
and brie
and drinks
and appetizers
followed by mini snickers bars
followed by drinks with your girlfriends
followed by a hibachi dinner out the next day
followed by fried foods
followed b... Mon, 7 Mar 2011 18:47:47 EST proud of myself. so just a quick little blog..

i went away for 3 days, traveling in and out of airports for an exam and then a cross country trip for an interview. i was eating airport food, hotel food. i had no internet access.

and guess what?? i made smart choices about the foods i was eating. instead of the cheeseburger and fries that looked sensational on the menu, i chose grilled fish and veggies. i logged everything i ate on my memo pad on my cell phone to save it for when i c... Fri, 14 Jan 2011 09:14:27 EST my "feel betters" This might be a little bear with me.

I've officially become one of the "im going to lose weight" new years resolution-ers. *(sigh.) i always laughed at people who did that because usually new years resolutions last until about mid january and then are generally thrown out the window. shouldn't you commit yourself before january? if you are feeling unhealthy, say, December 29th...why can't you resolve THEN to change your life? what is the big deal with starting ... Fri, 7 Jan 2011 09:25:21 EST HALF MARATHONER! so yesterday i finally accomplished my goal of becoming a half-marathoner again. I used to run marathons and half marathons and absolutely loved them in high school and college because they gave me a sense of accomplishment and personal success that didnt really come in team sports....because it was literally mind-over-matter. a marathon or a half marathon or ANY distance running race is a sheer show of will and mental determination and for those of you who may not have tried it yet, test y... Mon, 3 May 2010 19:07:24 EST set back month so march was particularly difficult. i started working at a place where the women LOVE LOVE LOVE to snack....on everything I'm not allowed to have. cake, candy, cookies....doughnuts....hi calorie coffee drinks. things that i cant afford to fit into my new diet. and the snacking is kind of more like a grazing episode that lasts all day. the worst part was, it was in a really small office space, so the food was constantly there, right in front of me, staring me in the face. i could smell ... Tue, 6 Apr 2010 21:43:39 EST grrrr weekends AHHHH! So I decided that the whole "keeping to 1100 to 1500 calories" thing would be fine and a lot easier during the week...I work at a hospital, so its easier for me to bring my lunch, grab a granola bar for breakfast, and then wait until after the gym to have dinner (that way, i convince myself that im not actually all that ravenous after ive busted my butt next to a bunch of skinny, cute girls at my gym!)

and i gave myself "off" on the weekends. But in my mind said...ok you c... Tue, 2 Mar 2010 06:47:13 EST So I convinced myself to sign up.... I signed up yesterday for the 1/2 marathon....I used to run full marathons in highschool and college...running was such a great stress reliever for me...I could just get on the treadmill and zone out. I'd cover up the time and the mileage with a gym towel and put my headphones on and just run until i was tired. but since starting medical school, my fitness routine has kind of dropped off the map. I figured if I signed up and paid the money to register ($80!!!!!) I would be forced/motivat... Tue, 23 Feb 2010 14:21:04 EST
