FREEOAK1's SparkPeople Blog FREEOAK1's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Still tired I am still fighting the demon of depression. I have no energy to do any thing. I cry a lot. I feel unworthy, but I keep on trying. I have an app't with my neurologist in Nov. I feel I am so alone in these feelings. By nature I love talking with people, but now I feel like staying in the house and go nowhere, except to the necessary medical app'ts. I will be 72 in Dec and so much has been taken away (mowing the lawn; I love doing it for others, too; driving my little car; exercising alone, Hav... Mon, 23 Sep 2013 09:09:20 EST Pharmacy Tom took me to the pharmacy to get my flu shot. Now, I am 72 yrs old. Filling out the form it asked if I was pregnant. I asked the pharmacist if she thought I was. She said, "I sure hope not!" LOL Sat, 31 Aug 2013 18:00:52 EST Good Morning from FreeOak Tomorrow I go to the Rheumatologist. I am doing exercise for my arthritis and neuromuscular conditions. When I go to bed and upon awakening I am in quite a lot of pain. Puffy red joints, too. But, as the day goes on, it is tolerable. I was able to get high-top hiking boots to brace the ankles. They are very comfortable. I use my walker. I am becoming more protective of myself after 31 falls in 2 years. I have to make an app't with my GYN and neurologist. Busy, busy, busy LOL. Sending love, fa... Mon, 26 Aug 2013 09:50:41 EST How many calories? On Glucerna they state that if a person weighs 170 + they should take in 1500 calories. If you weigh under 160 one should take in (I think) 1200 or 1300 calories(?). Does Spark people agree with this? Tue, 23 Jul 2013 18:24:11 EST Brain Last night we had our next door neighbor over to dinner. We've known her 25 yrs. When it came to say goodbye, I could not remember her name. I was frightened as I tried so hard for some time to recall her name. She was standing next to me. I was nearly in tears. I asked Tom what was the name of the woman standing next to me? He told me. It was horrifying. I do have to call my neurologist on Monday. Fri, 7 Jun 2013 17:34:20 EST Shoes I am a 4' 8" 71 year old female who has to wear a mens size 6 4E shoe. My neurologist wants me to wear basketball high-top shoes (over the ankle bone). I've called Zappos, and several sport places and it is extremely hard to find them. No to work shoes. But, maybe hiking boots. Fazing out hight-tops. Our daughter gave us some hopeful hints. So, I will be looking into them. Fri, 7 Jun 2013 17:21:39 EST Calories burned? Yesterday I started Richard Simmons' new workout tapes. Today is toning day. I was fine putting in the information on Spark People's site and was fine until I came to put in Calories. How do I find how many calories I have burned? I did 20 minutes. of toning. Tue, 23 Apr 2013 18:33:03 EST Oh, dear... The past month has been rough. I am not making excuses because I am the one responsible for making the choices in my life. Well, I AM an Emotional Eater. I did not weigh myself for ages, I guess. I just did and I am up to 173 pounds. I started to cry. My husband wrapped his arms around me and said he loves me no matter what. It did not soothe my feelings. I feel like a monster. But, then, I started thinking how happy I was coming DOWN from 239 lbs to reach 173 pounds. So, maybe I can retrain ... Tue, 23 Apr 2013 13:13:45 EST My Husband, Tom Please pray for my husband. He needs a colonoscopy, but he has A-Fib and has a couple of special needs before doing it. Please pray that he and his doctors are all on the same page. He becomes very scared before each procedure and his BP raises quite a lot (Not uncommon, but it raises it more because of Tom's fears. We are going to the urologist to see if the Dr approves; the cardiologist for a blood test; and lastly the gastrointestinal Dr to schedule his app't. We have a great network of ph... Sincerely, FreeOak1 Thu, 28 Mar 2013 11:00:00 EST Smart Phone? I am a computer illiterate and dyslexic...not processing too well. I try my best in fixing-up the problems alone. OK? Now, I am wondering about getting a smart phone and I am worried I may mess-up and ruin it. I have no idea how they work. Do you need, at anytime, to connect them to the computer to make them work? What is the best brand to purchase? I think I would only want three sites on there: e-mail, SparkPeople, and Spark_D, Glucerna's partner to Spark People. I Love It. Do any of you ha... The owner of the shop warned him the dog was not trained. The man did not mind and said he'd take the dog. A week later, the man returned, frustrated in not being able to train the dog himself. The shop owner said, he knew the best dog trainer was an evangelist, but he had some different rules. The man could not see his dog for a week or call up to see how things were going with the training.

A week was up. The dog owner excitedly went... At dawn I walked the dog (attached to my weeless walker) and was able to walk past 4 more houses. I may pay for it with muscle spasms, but it is the furthest I've walked in quite awhile. Went to Neurologist on Monday and to the dentist yesterday. Now I have to schedule for cataract surgery and Rheumatologist. Colonoscopy went great. Prayers to all. FreeOak. Wed, 21 Nov 2012 09:02:41 EST I cannot believe it! November 10th will be our 48th wedding anniversary. Nov. 11th our great-grandson will be 2 y/o. This is a bad time of year for me eating-wise. Have a great day everyone.

FreeOak Tue, 6 Nov 2012 10:31:13 EST Oh, Happy Birthday Present to My Husband two years ago they found a mass in his brain. No DR could figure out what it is. Today he had another app't with the oncologist, and he read the MRI's. He said that he still does not know what it is, but it has not grown in the past year and they see no seeds of cancer in it. The earliest next MRI will be 18 months from now. The medication seems to be woring in regulating his heart. Next month I go to the Princeton U. Hospital in Plainsboro for some treatment. The information about 5 of the worst foods is what made me confused. They one on soy was especially bad. Now, as you all know, I just found out I am lactose Intolerant. So much of what they suggest I cannot have. This article was extremely interesting and it helped me understand more about the hormone Cortisol, but it did not help me to understand what there is to eat. I'd love for Spark People to ha... I slipped it over my head to wear it and I thought, "Oh boy, I should've purchased a large when I couldn't get my right arm though. "Stupid!", I said of myself! I then realized there was a Velcro opening in the front. "When all else fails, read the directions... Fri, 28 Sep 2012 12:39:44 EST What a two years Weight has gone up. Emotional stress and DRs orders have made it difficult. They've cut my exercise to 5 - 10 minutes a day. I have had a lot of medical probs that have slowed all my medical app'ts to a year. Was down with the weirdest kind of virus, and the Drs cannot tell me the strain. Let me tell you, it's a nasty one. Cannot get an flu shot for 2 months. Again all my app'ts have been put off.
