We see mothers and daughters who look like sisters. We see family pictures where everyone has the same eyes or nose. It is sometimes easy to tell who is related to whom by the way they look. We are created in God’s image. We aren’t sure how He looks but we know how He acts. We know what He requires of us because of what is written in His word. And we are to be holy because He is holy and we are a child of Go... Mon, 4 May 2015 06:32:48 EST Thought and Prayer for Sunday, May 3, 2015 May 3, 2015 DECLARED HOLY

The weekend is a great time to get away from work and enjoy life. We can spend time with family and friends. We can get away for a quick break from our regular lives. We can enjoy quiet time alone to refresh and renew our minds. But there is one thing we need to remember. God created a day for us to rest and it does fall on the weekend; however, He also declared it holy. When we are resting and enjoying our time away from work, we need to remember to keep ... Sun, 3 May 2015 08:08:11 EST Thought and Prayer for Saturday, May 2, 2015 May 2, 2015 WE CAN CHANGE

We all know people who we believe may never change. That may or may not be true. However, our focus shouldn’t be on how others change. Our focus should be on how we change. When we become children of God and decide to follow Him, we need to make a change. We need to stop following the things of the world and begin to follow Jesus. He has freed us from sin and we are to do those things which are holy and pleasing to Him. How? By going to Him every day and... Sat, 2 May 2015 09:10:19 EST Thought and Prayer for Friday, May 1, 2015 May 1, 2015 HOLINESS

Holiness belongs to God. He is the Supreme Holy One. As Christians, we are to strive to be like God. We can’t do it on our own. We must submit to Him so He can work through us. We can’t be holy without Him. We must move away from the things of the world and put our focus on Him. It takes time to build a relationship with God to live a holy life. It takes strength and wisdom. It takes willingness to do right every day. It’s a process and it is attainable. ... Fri, 1 May 2015 06:48:50 EST Thought and Prayer for Thursday, April 30, 2015 April 30, 2015 CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

Continuous improvement is a common thing in our work. When we continue to get better at what we do, we can add value to our company and help our co-workers achieve the company goals. What about our personal goals? What about our godly goals? Do we strive for continuous improvement in doing God’s will? Or do we find ourselves staying busy doing what we think we should do. When we strive to endure through the hardships in life and continuously ... Thu, 30 Apr 2015 06:58:51 EST Thought and Prayer for Wednesday, April 29, 2015 April 29, 2015 IT IS FINAL

It is so much easier to understand what we are doing on our jobs when we have a bigger picture of the goal for the company or department. When we understand the mission of the company or organization we are working for, we know how to better do what we do. We can know what God calls us to do is for a greater glory. We can know His bigger picture is for a greater good. We don’t have to know all the details or answers to obey Him. But we can endure knowin... Wed, 29 Apr 2015 06:30:28 EST Thought and Prayer for Tuesday, April 28, 2015 April 28, 2015 STRENGTH TO ENDURE

It’s easy to quit. It requires no effort, no skill and no actions. How much easier could it be? However, if we want to endure and succeed in life, we need to be strong. We need to be focused. We need to be willing to do whatever it takes. God wants us to be strong, focused and willing. He can strengthen us with His power. He can strengthen us in our quiet times with Him. He can give us the strength to obey Him and to endure until the end.
<... Tue, 28 Apr 2015 06:17:07 EST Thought and Prayer for Monday, April 27, 2015 April 27, 2015 GOD’S WILL AND NOT OUR OWN

So many times when we want things our way, we get discouraged. It’s because we are struggling to do things on our own rather than giving them to God. It’s because we are trying to get what we want rather than working toward God’s will. It’s because we are looking at the things of the world rather than focusing on the word of God. Rather than wanting things our way and trying to venture out on our own, let’s look to God and see w... Mon, 27 Apr 2015 06:58:57 EST Thought and Prayer for Sunday, April 26, 2015 April 26, 2015 HARD CONVERSATIONS

For many, hard conversations are difficult. If they weren’t, they would be called easy conversations. All joking aside, however, we do struggle with hard conversations. And when we put those hard conversations off, we suffer. We become bitter. We become distracted. We become weak. God can help us endure through hard conversations when we focus on Him. He will give us the right time to talk, the right words to say and ensure the outcome is right. ... Sun, 26 Apr 2015 08:11:57 EST Thought and Prayer for Saturday, April 25, 2015 April 25, 2015 ADD VALUE

When we think of enduring, we may think about just getting by in a tough situation. We may think it’s about doing what has to be done to get through hard times. However, if we think about enduring as an opportunity to add value to someone’s life, our tough times won’t be so hard. Adding value means to see what we can do to improve a situation, a person’s life or our own lives. When we add value by sharing God’s word with others, our struggles will... Sat, 25 Apr 2015 08:11:27 EST Thought and Prayer for Friday, April 24, 2015 April 24, 2015 GOD’S PROMISES

It seems there is always something to be done. We have chores around the house. We have things to do to keep our body healthy. We have bills to pay. We have groceries to buy. Then there is the work we do and the responsibilities we have outside the home. There is always something to do. How do we endure? How do we get things done? Simple. When we stay in God’s word, trust in Him and continue to rely on His promises, we won’t have to be discourag... Fri, 24 Apr 2015 07:38:07 EST Thought and Prayer for Thursday, April 23, 2015 April 23, 2015 BLESSINGS THROUGH HARD TIMES

When we have hard times and aren’t quite sure how we are going to get through those hard times, we can always turn to God. He can give us comfort and peace about the situation. He can replace our worry and or fear with hope when we put our trust in Him. And while we are trusting in Him and enduring through the situation, one other thing we can do is serve others. When we put aside our issues and focus on helping others with their proble... Thu, 23 Apr 2015 06:55:27 EST Thought and Prayer for Wednesday, April 22, 2015 April 22, 2015 WHEN OTHERS ARE SUFFERING

Probably one of the hardest things to do is to watch a loved one go through pain. Especially when it’s our children or someone very close to us. We want them to be strong and endure through their suffering but we feel like we are right there suffering with them and there is nothing we can do. When others suffer or struggle due to finance issues, health problems or in a relationship, we want to make it better for them but it’s usually out... Wed, 22 Apr 2015 07:14:38 EST Thought and Prayer for Tuesday, April 21, 2015 April 21, 2015 ENDURING THROUGH OUR WORK

We need to endure and be sure we spend our time wisely. We can’t work well for God when we are distracted by the things and the people of the world. We should put our work for God at the top of our list. When our minds and thoughts are on our problems, they are not on God. In order to fix what is wrong in our lives so we can endure through the hard times, we need to give our problems to God. We need to work willingly at whatever we do, put... Tue, 21 Apr 2015 07:27:12 EST Thought and Prayer for Monday, April 20, 2015 April 20, 2015 LIVE SERIOUSLY

If we want to endure through the hard times, we need to take life seriously. Sure, it’s good to have fun but we need to be serious about our work for the Lord. We need to be serious about our own actions and act responsibly. We need to be serious about our quiet time with God and our daily Bible reading. God has called us to work for Him and we need to get serious doing His will so we can show love and help others.

2 Peter 1:10 “So, dear... Mon, 20 Apr 2015 07:29:38 EST Thought and Prayer for Sunday, April 19, 2015 April 19, 2015 REST IN GOD

We all have problems. No one is exempt from them. Although we may not all handle our problems the same, there is only one perfect answer to each of our problems no matter what they are. If we want to know how to endure successfully through trials, temptations and struggles, God can help. When we rest in Him, He will carry us through the hard times. To rest in Him means to focus on Him, to read and meditate on His word and to allow Him to handle the situat... Sun, 19 Apr 2015 07:28:31 EST Thought and Prayer for Saturday, April 18, 2015 April 18, 2015 WE AREN’T GOOD ENOUGH

One reason we decide not to do God’s will and endure until we are done is we feel we are not good enough. We feel our lives are not right and God wouldn’t want us to do anything because we are sinners. We think we are too bad to do good. We feel incompetent or inadequate. We feel we have messed up our lives too much to follow through with something God wants us to do. But the beauty of enduring through and doing God’s will is that He wil... Sat, 18 Apr 2015 07:47:53 EST Thought and Prayer for Friday, April 17, 2015 April 17, 2015 CONSISTENCY PAYS OFF

Cooks know the importance of consistency when cooking. If a food is served too early before it’s done or too late after it is overcooked, the consistency won’t be right. It changes how it looks and how it tastes. We need to have consistency in our lives so we can endure hard times. So we won’t change when the going gets tough. Consistency pays off. It teaches good habits. When we seek God’s will consistently and search for His answers, He... Fri, 17 Apr 2015 08:00:11 EST Thought and Prayer for Thursday, April 16, 2015 April 16, 2015 OTHERS WILL WANT TO STOP US

When we decide to obey and follow God, others will want to stop us. Intentionally or unintentionally, others will say things or take actions that make us rethink what we are doing. They may judge us because we are doing something for God and call us holy rollers. They may stop speaking to us because we are doing something for God that makes them uncomfortable. They may talk about us and laugh at us because our actions are for God and not c... Thu, 16 Apr 2015 06:54:07 EST Thought and Prayer for Wednesday, April 15, 2015 April 15, 2015 REMAIN IN GOD’S WORD

When we are traveling and get off course, we begin to realize by the scenery and road signs we are going the wrong direction. As soon as we discover we are off track, we quickly look for ways to get back on track. We may use our GPS or map. We may stop and get help. We may ask another person in the car to help us. We usually don’t just continue on to see where we may end up. When we wander away from God’s teachings, we will also quickly see... Wed, 15 Apr 2015 07:20:30 EST Thought and Prayer for Tuesday, April 14, 2015 April 14, 2015 WHEN HARD TIMES STRIKE

Nothing is certain in life. Hard times will come. If we believe any different, we are going to be in for a surprise. As much as new brides want to believe it, their married lives are not going to be like fairy tales. And even in a fairy tale, there is strife and struggles. The thing about fairy tales is the characters continue on until they have a happy ending. That is what we can learn from them. Continue on until our happy ending when Jesus r... Tue, 14 Apr 2015 06:53:46 EST Thought and Prayer for Monday, April 13, 2015 April 13, 2015 SHOW AND SHARE IT

Showing gratitude and sharing our blessings with others helps us to endure through the ups and downs of life. When we take time to show gratitude to God in the mornings, He will help us stay focused on what’s important. When we take time to share our blessings with others, it takes our minds off of our own problems. When we get too rushed and don’t stop to show gratitude or share blessings, we get stressed. When we are stressed, it’s harder to... Mon, 13 Apr 2015 07:14:27 EST Thought and Prayer for Sunday, April 12, 2015 April 12, 2015 NOT EVERYONE WILL LIKE US

So many of us spend way too much time talking about how much someone doesn’t like us. We spend too much time thinking about what they said or did and waste time wondering why they treat us like they do. When we dwell on what others think about us or do to us, we are not focusing on doing God’s will. However, when we accept that not everyone will like us or what we do, we will be able to endure and enjoy blessings from God.

Luk... Sun, 12 Apr 2015 08:06:29 EST Thought and Prayer for Saturday, April 11, 2015 April 11, 2015 CONTINUE TO WORK

Sometimes we wonder why we work. Of course, it is to get a paycheck so we can meet our basic needs in life. But there is more to it than that. Our work should be something we enjoy doing. If we are not happy at work, then we need to re-evaluate what we are doing and why we are doing it. If we are in a job and feel stuck or unappreciated, we need to remember to put God first in our jobs. When we do, He will help us look at our jobs differently and hel... Sat, 11 Apr 2015 07:57:57 EST Thought and Prayer for Friday, April 10, 2015 April 10, 2015 HELP EACH OTHER

We hear so much about how we are to help one another. We see others doing this selflessly. We read about random acts of kindness where someone did something for another person for no reason and wanted no remain anonymous. God tells us to do for others in secret. When we help others, in secret, and focus on their needs rather than our own, God will help us get through our own problems. When we see what the needs of others are and what they are struggli... Fri, 10 Apr 2015 07:26:45 EST Thought and Prayer for Thursday, April 9, 2015 April 9, 2015 ENDURING THROUGH TESTS

So many times we look at the lives of others or even our own lives and think life is not fair. We wonder why bad things have to happen to good people. We blame God for what happened in our life or we become envious of others who are still living the good life yet we are suffering. However, God tells us we will be blessed when we patiently endure testing and temptations. If we can get through the hard times trusting in Him and knowing there are b... Thu, 9 Apr 2015 07:03:03 EST Thought and Prayer for Wednesday, April 8, 2015 April 8, 2015 THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED

What does it mean to endure? It is not always about getting through the hard times in life where we have health or financial or relationship issues. It can be about just trying to stay on the right path. It can be about enduring down a road less traveled because most people take the easy way out. When we endure by doing God’s will rather than our own, we are doing what most people don’t. This means we will sometimes be alone. This means we w... Wed, 8 Apr 2015 06:29:23 EST Thought and Prayer for Tuesday, April 7, 2015 April 7, 2015 WHAT ENDURANCE DOES

When we know what it means to endure and what endurance does, we will be more likely to strive to endure despite our situation. There are so many times we just want to give up and walk away. There are so many times we want to just escape and never return. However, when we endure, we can grow both in maturity and spirituality. Endurance gives strength. Endurance brings hope. God wants us to endure through the hard times so we develop and mature as C... Tue, 7 Apr 2015 07:06:06 EST Thought and Prayer for Monday, April 6, 2015 April 6, 2015 HOW TO DEVELOP ENDURANCE

Sometimes we feel like things are just not going as they should and we want to give up. We don’t even know how to begin to endure. There are two steps to developing endurance. When we have trials, we should first lean on Jesus and second, rejoice. We should lean on Jesus because when He died, He took on our problems, our sorrow and our pain. When we give our problems to Jesus, He will sustain us and help us endure. The second step is to rejo... Mon, 6 Apr 2015 07:05:09 EST Thought and Prayer for Sunday, April 5, 2015 April 5, 2015 ENDURANCE PAYS OFF

It is a great feeling to get to the end of something that has been a struggle. To finish the race. To make it through hard times. Endurance pays off for us and others. When we persevere and continue on, we are rewarded and those around us are blessed. It is such a great feeling! Think about Jesus for a minute. He endured the worst of the worst and His reward was the best of the best. The power of Jesus’ resurrection has the ability to save us all ... Sun, 5 Apr 2015 07:41:53 EST Thought and Prayer for Saturday, April 4, 2015 April 4, 2015 WHAT WE ENDURE

When we grow up and move out, we don’t know what we will encounter in life. Some think everything is going to be great. Some believe there will be no issues and no problems. However, we are hit with the reality of responsibilities that we may not be prepared for. We have bills. We have relationship issues. We have problems. And we have to endure through those things. We get confused. We worry. We have doubt. And we begin to reach out to something to h... Sat, 4 Apr 2015 07:57:08 EST Thought and Prayer for Friday, April 3, 2015 April 3, 2015 WHAT CHRIST ENDURED

We really shouldn’t complain about all we have to endure. We think we have problems. We think we have issues. We think our burdens are just too great to bear. However, what we are suffering through is nothing compared to how Christ suffered. He was shamed. He was beaten. He was betrayed. He was crucified. The pain and burdens He carried were exponentially more than we could imagine. And because He endured, we can follow His lead and know there ar... Fri, 3 Apr 2015 07:06:25 EST Thought and Prayer for Thursday, April 2, 2015 April 2, 2015 WHEN WE ARE WEAK

There are going to be times when we feel we just can’t go on and we feel weak. When we are weak and we mess up, we set ourselves back a bit. When we are weak and give up, we get off track. When we are weak, however, we can identify where we need to improve. And, the quicker we get back on track, the better. God can help us when we are weak to get back on track, to identify what we are doing wrong and help us endure through it all.

Hebrews... Thu, 2 Apr 2015 06:45:40 EST Thought and Prayer for Wednesday, April 1, 2015 April 1, 2015 ENDURANCE

Endurance is when we make it through a difficult situation despite the suffering or the pain. Endurance is when we continue on and remain strong throughout a hard time. Endurance with God is knowing we don’t have to be alone through our pain and suffering. We can go to Him. And when we go to God, He can help us grow and make us stronger. When we are able to endure because of God, we will have stories to share that will help others that will give them hope ... Wed, 1 Apr 2015 06:48:16 EST Thought and Prayer for Tuesday, March 31, 2015 March 31, 2015 PATIENCE OF JOB

When we lose our patience, we lose a lot more than just patience. We lose control of the situation. We lose respect from others. We lose our temper. However, when we keep our patience and allow God to work through the situation, we gain much more. We can learn from Job. He remained patient and prayed despite all he lost and all he went through. When we take time to pray about the situation and the people involved, God will give us all we need. And wh... Tue, 31 Mar 2015 07:10:33 EST Thought and Prayer for Monday, March 30, 2015 March 30, 2015 THE FUTURE WILL COME

It seems like everything we do we are preparing for the future. We save money for what we want later in life. We work for that money. We schedule our lives around our jobs. Sometimes we get impatient and want the good things now. Sometimes we go and spend money on worthless things that we only enjoy for a short time and then tire of them. That is why it is important to invest our time, our money and our talents in the things that will last an et... Mon, 30 Mar 2015 06:54:51 EST Thought and Prayer for Sunday, March 29, 2015 March 29, 2015 WHY IS GOD SO PATIENT WITH US?

We sometimes wonder why people get away with things. We see wrongdoing in the world every day and wonder why people seem to go unpunished. Everyone sins. Even believers do wrong at times. What we need to remember is God is watching and He knows all we do. He is in control and He is patiently waiting on us to return to Him. Why is He so patient? He is waiting for those who don’t know Him to be saved. When we see wrongdoing, we can pra... However, God may have a different plan. We can cry out to Him. We can be still. We can wait patiently for Him to act. And He will. But we have to be patient and put our focus on Him even when we are hurting. Then we won’t worry about what others say and do. Then we will have peace. God hears us and He wants to help us. But we have to go to Him and patiently wait.

Psalm 40:1 “I waited pa... Sat, 28 Mar 2015 07:19:11 EST Thought and Prayer for Friday, March 27, 2015 March 27, 2015 BETTER THAN PRIDE

There are times in life when we are selfish. We all are. We may want to be the first to talk. We may want to have things our way. We may want to be recognized more than someone else for a good job. Pride and selfishness hinder us from being patient. When we are less selfish and put more focus on others rather than ourselves it will be easier to practice patience. When we put Jesus first, others second and ourselves last, we will gain better underst... Fri, 27 Mar 2015 09:19:46 EST Thought and Prayer for Thursday, March 26, 2015 March 26, 2015 BETTER THAN POWER

Many believe all who are famous are successful and wise. However, that is not always the case. Not by God’s standards anyway. God says it is better to be patient than powerful. If we aren’t patient and get what we want through force or anger, we aren’t successful in God’s eyes. If we don’t have self-control and use intimidation to get what we want, we aren’t successful in God’s eyes. Not all who are successful are patient people. We c... God has reasons for us to do things at certain times and to wait at other times. When we wait and obey God, we will receive blessings to use and share with others. When we step out ahead and not include God, we will miss the blessings He has in store for us. When we wait for God, we will be blessed.

Romans 15:4 “Such things were wr... When we feel we have to put up with a person or situation, we may need to change our attitude. We shouldn’t see situations as something to get upset about. Also, we shouldn’t look at others as someone to have to put up with. When we have trials and problems, we are to rejoice and be grateful to God. For trials help us to develop endurance and patience. Many of us don’t know what that purpose is. Some really don’t believe they have a purpose at all. However, we all do. We need patience to wait on God to reveal our purpose to us. We need patience as we prepare for that purpose. We need patience as we follow through. The world will be full of distractions that may cause us to get impatient and give up. We all take wrong turns in life. We all get distracted. We all do wrong. We are human. It happens. And when we do mess up, we need to recognize it quickly and turn back to God. However, we need to remember the fix is not often quick. Many times, the results of our wrongdoing takes a while to overcome. That is why we need to be patient and wait until things get right again rather than making things worse. We should get into God’s word... It may be from a health issue we have and we are concerned about what may be wrong with us. It may be a financial situation we have and we don’t know where the money is going to come from. It may be a relationship problem or a job concern and we aren’t sure of what to do. Rather than letting these issues consume our minds, we need to seek peace. We need to practice... We are standing on zero in the very middle. All the negative numbers are behind us and all the positive numbers are in front. Every time we step forward and practice patience, we move forward to the positive side of that line. Every time we lose our patience, we move back to zero or, even worse, we move to the negative side. Too many episodes of lost patience will keep us the left side of that zero; however...
