FRANCESLUCAS's SparkPeople Blog FRANCESLUCAS's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Thought and Prayer for Sunday, April 23, 2017 April 23, 2017 WE HAVE A FOUNTAIN

Many of us as children would run to a water fountain to get a quick drink or play with the buttons or put our hands in the water. Some of us, as children, saw fountains in the park and enjoyed playing in them or throwing coins in them. There is a fountain that has been flowing and will continue to flow. A fountain that will cleanse us from all our sin. That fountain is from God when He allowed His Son to die for us. When we drink from the fountain ... Sun, 23 Apr 2017 07:08:03 EST Thought and Prayer for Saturday, April 22, 2017 April 22, 2017 SHOW MERCY

We all hate to deal with a stopped up sink or toilet. The gunk and junk in it that keeps water from flowing can get pretty gross. When our life is stopped up from sin due to being angry or bitter, blessings can’t flow from God. We can’t be the person He wants us to be and we certainly can’t help others when everything that is coming in isn’t going out. God wants His blessings to flow through us to others. We need to be sure we are allowing Him to cleanse u... Sat, 22 Apr 2017 08:00:51 EST Thought and Prayer for Friday, April 21, 2017 April 21, 2017 STAY AWAY FROM THOSE WHO ARE EVIL

We have probably heard the old saying about one bad apple. If not, it goes like this. “One bad apple spoils the bunch.” If we have ever seen a spot of mold show up on bread, we know it is getting bad. It quickly begins to spread. Another saying we have possibly heard to be careful who we associate with. Whether in the church or in the world, when we choose to allow evil to be a part of our lives, it will influence us. God tells us to... Fri, 21 Apr 2017 05:57:31 EST Thought and Prayer for Thursday, April 20, 2017 April 20, 2017 WE ARE ALL INFECTED

Probably one of the greater frustrations in life for those who strive to maintain a clean house is that it seems to get dirty just as soon as it is cleaned. Children trample dirt in. Pets drag things in from the outside. Dust collects. It just happens. There is nothing we can do to keep our home clean 24/7/365. It’s the same with our lives. As soon as we leave church or we finish reading Scripture, we get back to our lives and sin creeps in. A bad... Thu, 20 Apr 2017 06:09:54 EST Thought and Prayer for Wednesday, April 19, 2017 April 19, 2017 CLEANSING BRINGS JOY

Many of us probably can’t imagine being held captive or imprisoned; however, those who have know the joy that comes from being set free. Being trapped inside something or even living in a bad situation can almost feel like we are being held captive.

Those who experience the joy God can give once they give up their lives for Him and turn from their sin understand an even greater joy because they are finally free. When we are sinners li... Wed, 19 Apr 2017 06:28:00 EST Thought and Prayer for Tuesday, April 18, 2017 April 18, 2017 THE HOLY SPIRIT

Most of the time when we purchase something new, we find the directions or instructions inside the box so we can have some guidelines on the best way to put together or use our product. Without these guidelines we may not use our new purchase properly or fully as it was intended to be used. After we are cleansed by the blood of Jesus and have become new believers, we need instructions and guidance as well. Otherwise, we will quickly go back to our old... Tue, 18 Apr 2017 06:52:21 EST Thought and Prayer for Monday, April 17, 2017 April 17, 2017 CLEANSING FREES US

We speak about freedom a lot in this world. We have many freedoms to do, say and live as we want. However, being free and having freedom is two different things. Freedom is the act to do what we want. Being truly free means we have no burdens, no worries and no pain. When we are truly free, we will have been washed by the blood of the Lamb and cleansed from all filth in this world. It isn’t a one-time experience and done. It is an everyday choice i... Mon, 17 Apr 2017 06:45:06 EST Thought and Prayer for Sunday, April 16, 2017 April 16, 2017 HE AROSE

Although we have heard stories of near death experiences where the person who was dying saw a bright light or angels, we probably don’t know anyone who truly died, was buried and rose from the dead three days later . Well, of course, other than Jesus. The stories we heard of His suffering on earth and His death on the cross for us moved us to feel sorry for Him; however, God doesn’t want us to feel sorry for Him. Jesus did exactly what God called Him to do... Sun, 16 Apr 2017 06:47:32 EST Thought and Prayer for Saturday, April 15, 2017 April 15, 2017 WE ARE SAVED

Gifts are great. Sometimes we are surprised by a small gift from someone for no particular reasons. Other times on special occasions, we are bombarded with all kinds of gifts. Either way, gifts are great and usually we get them from others who want nothing in return. We get them because others care. God has many gifts for us because He cares. He loves us. One of His gifts is grace. Grace is a free gift from God. Because of His mercy and love, He saved us... Sat, 15 Apr 2017 06:42:19 EST Thought and Prayer for Friday, April 14, 2017 April 14, 2017 BECAUSE OF JESUS

If we took a minute to imagine the life of those who have to work in the dirtiest of dirt, we would probably be a little grateful they help us keep our world clean. There are those who carry away our garbage. There are those who clean the streets. There are those who work to remove the dirt and grime from the very things we need cleaned in order to better live. Because of them, we don’t have to live in filth. However, as hard as they do work, it does... Fri, 14 Apr 2017 06:11:57 EST Thought and Prayer for Thursday, April 13, 2017 April 13, 2017 OUR GUILT

Guilt is something we have when we have done wrong or think we have done wrong and are feeling bad about it. We may have done or said something that was harmful to another person. We may have stopped reading God’s word and feel guilty we aren’t in line with God’s will. We may have an addiction we can’t get rid of and feel guilty about our bad habits. Whatever the reason, guilt can control us by keeping us focused on us rather on God and how He can help us. ... Thu, 13 Apr 2017 06:14:34 EST Thought and Prayer for Wednesday, April 12, 2017 April 12, 2017 LIVING IN THE LIGHT

If we own a vehicle, we may have experienced headlights that stopped working. Maybe they got a little dim and made it harder to see at night. Just one headlight being out on a dark road makes a huge difference in what we see, think we see or don’t see. It’s the same when we are partially living in God’s light. We don’t completely see what He wants us to see because our light isn’t bright enough. We make excuses of how it is okay not to read His wo... Wed, 12 Apr 2017 06:00:27 EST Thought and Prayer for Tuesday, April 11, 2017 April 11, 2017 WHAT KEEPS US

Everyone has something in their lives that keeps them. Something that keeps them up at night. Something that keeps them from being happy. Something that keeps them from doing right. The list goes on and on. These things that keep us from focusing on God and doing His will are all part of the devil’s plan. He wants us to be kept by this world so we are constantly worrying, unhappy and doubtful. However, God wants to cleanse us and free us from the things... Tue, 11 Apr 2017 06:10:43 EST Thought and Prayer for Monday, April 10, 2017 April 10, 2017 A CLEAN HEART

Those of us who have had to clean dishes know the dish is easier to clean once we have removed all the excess food. If we attempt to clean it with large chunks of food still on it, it just gets messier rather than clean. If we wait until it is all dried up and caked over, it is almost impossible to clean. Cleaning the dishes is easier once the food and gunk are removed. It’s the same with us. If we want to be cleansed, we need pray asking God to empty u... Mon, 10 Apr 2017 06:14:57 EST Thought and Prayer for Sunday, April 9, 2017 April 9, 2017 MEANINGFUL RITUALS

There are rituals in this world we don’t always agree with. Then there are some a great deal of people celebrate. One of the most meaningful rituals in the Bible is about the Passover where God protected His people when they obeyed Him by not harming their firstborn sons in the Old Testament. The ritual continued in Jesus’ day during the Last Supper when the disciples ate and drank with Jesus for the last time. Jesus was starting a new tradition cal... Sun, 9 Apr 2017 07:25:32 EST Thought and Prayer for Saturday, April 8, 2017 April 8, 2017 DEEP CLEANING

Many people aren’t into deep cleaning. Some don’t like deep cleaning because it takes time. Other don’t want to put a lot of effort into it. Then there are those who just don’t notice that deep cleaning needs to take place. They are so accustomed to the dirt, they just overlook it. Deep cleaning is needed to get rid of the deeper and tough dirt and grime below the surface that can’t be seen but is harming the original beauty underneath. What about our li... Sat, 8 Apr 2017 06:18:26 EST Thought and Prayer for Friday, April 7, 2017 April 7, 2017 CLEANSED AND PURE

Just like bathing isn’t temporary, cleansing isn’t either. As soon as we pray for God’s cleansing on us and to be forgiven from sin, things begin to creep in our minds again. It’s human nature for us to worry, to doubt and to desire worldly things. However, we can train our minds to be more like Jesus. We can keep focused on His word. We can pray continuously throughout the day. He will help us in the struggles of our minds so our thoughts can stay o... Fri, 7 Apr 2017 06:33:10 EST Thought and Prayer for Thursday, April 6, 2017 April 6, 2017 CLEANSED TO LOVE

We usually can see a big change in something that has been dirty for a while after we begin to clean it. Not only does it look and feel better, but we begin to use it again because it has again gained its’ luster and newness. Once we are cleansed by God, we can’t help but feel His love. We can’t help but want to share His love. We are to love others as God love us. We are to love them deeply with all our hearts. We are to love them completely no matte... Thu, 6 Apr 2017 06:47:50 EST Thought and Prayer for Wednesday, April 5, 2017 April 5, 2017 MEANINGFUL PRAYER TIME

There are some people who wonder why bad things always happen to them. They moan and groan and have pity parties feeling like all is lost and they are being picked on by God. However, bad things happen to us all. This world is full of evil and none of us are exempt from hard times. But when all is lost, there is hope. We can pray. We can pray for guidance and direction. We can pray for cleansing and forgiveness. And when we are cleansed by the H... Wed, 5 Apr 2017 06:13:10 EST Thought and Prayer for Tuesday, April 4, 2017 April 4, 2017 WRONG TURNS

We all have probably taken a wrong turn in life. We may have followed the GPS and ended up on a wrong road. We may have listened to others in the car and missed a turn. We may have even been out walking and took a trail that led to a dead end. No one wants to get lost. No one wants to get on a path that is dangerous. However, many times we find ourselves on a wrong path. We get sidetracked and listen to those who don’t truly know the right way. Reading God... Tue, 4 Apr 2017 06:38:44 EST Thought and Prayer for Monday, April 3, 2017 April 3, 2017 CLEANSED AND FED

Just about everyone loves buffet lines. It’s all we can eat and more than we need. It’s easy to overeat and forget about those who are left outside hungry. We shouldn’t be so selfish to want to be continually fed that we forget we are supposed to help others be fed as well. That applies to earthly food and God’s food (which is His word) for our lives. We are called to trust in God, learn His word and share it with others. We are fed on God’s word so w... Mon, 3 Apr 2017 06:03:07 EST Thought and Prayer for Sunday, April 2, 2017 April 2, 2017 DRAW CLOSE TO GOD

We see many young children who have a hard time staying clean. Some make a mess when they are eating. Others get out in the dirt and play. Then there are those who get dirty no matter what they do. If it wasn’t for their parents, they may never be clean. Parents are constantly bathing, wiping and washing their children to ensure they stay clean. Not being clean can lead to diseases and infections. We are God’s children and should draw near to Him so... Sun, 2 Apr 2017 06:56:02 EST Thought and Prayer for Saturday, April 1, 2017 April 1, 2017 DAILY CLEANSING

This time of year is well-known for spring cleaning. Some of us give our house a thorough cleaning to get rid of the dust, dirt and germs that have been trapped inside due to the long winter months. A good cleaning gets rid of germs and makes the house smell fresh, feel good and look better. When we don’t take time to clean, it shows…in more ways than one. This is true with our body, minds and souls as well. How can we remove the scum and filth in thes... Sat, 1 Apr 2017 06:56:23 EST Thought and Prayer For Friday, March 31, 2017 March 31, 2017 ALWAYS KNOW

Not everyone is unshakeable. In fact, most people get shook up about something. It may be the fear of losing everything they have. It may be bad weather that frightens them. It may be the fear of death. We all have our fears and doubts. However, when we put God first in our lives, our fears and doubts will subside. With God in our lives, we can know He will always be with us and we can have confidence He will always make sure we are safe despite what is g... Fri, 31 Mar 2017 06:08:00 EST Thought and Prayer for Thursday, March 30, 2017 March 30, 2017 GOD’S KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of the world can be learned by most anyone. There are books. There are people to go to. There are shows and movies to watch. And, of course, we can always research something on the Internet. However, God’s knowledge can only be learned through a personal relationship with Him. And then, we will never know all He knows. His knowledge is powerful, alive, perfect and true. There is no worldly knowledge as great as the knowledge that comes from ... Thu, 30 Mar 2017 05:43:34 EST Thought and Prayer for Wednesday, March 29, 2017 March 29, 2017 LOVE SURPASSES KNOWLEDGE

Many will argue there is nothing much better than knowledge. Knowledge helps us with our work. Knowledge helps us to do the right things. Knowledge can keep us aware of what is going on in the world. Knowledge is good. However, love is better. God’s love, that is. God tells us His love surpasses knowledge. He tells us knowledge will never last as long as love. He tells us without love, we are useless.

SCRIPTURE:
Ephesians 3:19... When we realize His goodness, mercy and grace are meant for us, we will want to give Him thanks. When we share His wisdom with others, we will want to give Him glory. Tue, 28 Mar 2017 05:56:46 EST Thought and Prayer for Monday, March 27, 2017 March 27, 2017 KNOWLEDGE ABOUT TEMPTATIONS

We are all tempted. Even Jesus was. When we give into temptations, we blame others or even blame the devil; however, giving into temptations is our choice. No one else’s. Jesus resisted temptations with God’s word. When He was alone and hungry and tired, the devil tempted Him to do wrong. Jesus used God’s word to be strong rather than choosing to do wrong. We have that same ability in us. When we better understand temptation and where it c... Mon, 27 Mar 2017 05:44:35 EST Thought and Prayer for Sunday, March 26, 2017 March 26, 2017 WE ARE GOING TO GROW

It’s springtime! New growth will begin all around us because God created our world to get warmer this time of year, to rain and to reproduce. People will begin planting and taking care of gardens. Trees and grass will turn green and other colors will begin to fill this beautiful world. It is an automatic miracle from God every spring. Similar to a garden we will grow spiritually when we get into God's word. We don’t have to wait until a certain t... Sun, 26 Mar 2017 06:46:50 EST Thought and Prayer for Saturday, March 25, 2017 March 25, 2017 KNOWLEDGE AND TRUTH

It is sad to say but it is getting hard to believe a lot of the things we hear about in this world. We have so much false information through television, radio and the Internet. Some things we read, see or hear get misconstrued or opinionated and the truth is not anywhere in the message. It is smart to verify what we hear from others before we continue on believing what they say is truth. God tells us to strive for truth and knowledge of the truth... Sat, 25 Mar 2017 06:32:14 EST Thought and Prayer for Friday, March 24, 2017 March 24, 2017 OPPORTUNITIES TO KNOW

When we go difficult situations, we learn something. We may learn what to not do again. We may learn how to do it differently. We may learn how to do it better. When we experience things in life, both good and bad, we learn as well. We can grow in knowledge every day from our experiences in life. We can also grow in the suffering when we ask God to reveal to us what we need to know about each situation. We have opportunities around us every day ... Fri, 24 Mar 2017 05:56:21 EST Thought and Prayer for Thursday, March 23, 2017 March 23, 2017 WORLDLY KNOWLEDGE

Many people spend countless hours studying the things of the world. They get degrees, certifications and awards because of their worldly knowledge. However, it just doesn’t make sense to gather knowledge about this world when we know it isn’t going to last forever. The knowledge we seek should be from God, not from this world. So what can we do with worldly knowledge? Rather than use our worldly knowledge for worldly gain, we should use what we know... Thu, 23 Mar 2017 06:02:57 EST Thought and Prayer for Wednesday, March 22, 2017 March 22, 2017 THOSE WHO REMIND US

Even the most got-it-all-together people forget something at some point in their lives. Sometimes, we are fortunate to have someone remind us. Other times we just have to do without whatever we forgot. However, one thing we need to be grateful for is those who remind us about God. Those who remind us about what His word says. Those who remind us what we need to do that will us help us remember to turn to Him in all things. Those who remind us of w... Wed, 22 Mar 2017 06:34:11 EST Thought and Prayer for Tuesday, March 21, 2017 March 21, 2017 KNOWLEDGE ABOUT WHAT GOD WANTS

So many people don’t know what God wants for their lives. Some use that as an excuse to do nothing. Other use it as a reason to search and get to know Him and what He wants. When we stay in our comfort zone, don’t listen to or trust God we won’t know what His will is for us. However, if we listen and obey, every day, we will become more knowledgeable about what God wants us to do in our lives.

SCRIPTURE:
John 3:21 “But t... As we read His word, we learn about what He has done, who He is and all of His promises. Being knowledgeable about our Lord is important for us to grow and walk with Him daily. We want to learn more about the things we are passionate about. When we learn more, we gain a skill. When we enjoy doing it, it is a strength. We don’t gain knowledge when we stay in the dark. We won’t grow as believers if we stay away from others. God wants us to get out and get moving. He wants us to fellowship with others believers. We can tell by the stories they share, their background and the helpful information they provide. Knowledgeable words can be very helpful when we apply them but, of course, are of no use if we do nothing with them. It is God’s intentions we use His wise words that have always held the truth as guidelines for life. The stories He shares, His background and ... Their decision forever changed their lives and the lives of those who came after them. We can’t blame them because we don’t know what we would have done if we were tempted by Satan. What made the Tree of Knowledge so appealing? They were told they would be wise. They were told they would know everything. They were told they would have power. The devil made ... Thu, 16 Mar 2017 06:07:31 EST Thought and Prayer for Wednesday, March 15, 2017 March 15, 2017 KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT SIN

Sin is mentioned all throughout the Bible yet sometimes we truly don’t understand what sin is. Sin is anything we do that is not in line with God’s will. So if we want to know what sin is, we need to know God. Otherwise, without God, we will keep on doing what feels good and believe it is right because we don’t know better. We can always rationalize something is right in our minds but it may be sin and against God’s will. Sin is anything we do... Wed, 15 Mar 2017 05:59:24 EST Thought and Prayer for Tuesday, March 14, 2017 March 14, 2017 KNOWLEDGEABLE WORDS

We often hear we need to choose our words wisely. That is good advice if we don’t want to be misunderstood or perhaps cause others to get angry. However, there will be many times in life no matter what we say, our words will not be understood and people will get angry. That is because people tend to hear what they want to hear. If they are bound and determined to hear something one way, that is how they are going to hear it. The solution? Say what... Some will tell us to do one thing while others tell us to do the total opposite. We can get confused not knowing what to do. If we are suffering due to health, we may go to the doctor for answers. If we are financially burdened, a financial advisor could help. However, we really need to go to God. He has all the answers. We should seek Him, trus... When we get to know others and learn about what they like and don’t like, we can better connect with them. It is not something that always happens automatically. Sometimes it takes effort. We need to find out more about them by asking questions. We need to make a point to remember their names. We need to get to know them so we know how to specifically pray for them. Other of us drink too much. Some of us spend more money than we have. When we decide we want to get help so we can stop our bad habits, many times we go see a specialist in that field. Other times we look up articles or read books on the subject. However, there is One who can help us in all things. No matter the problem, He has the answer. College students study books and do research in order to learn and gain knowledge. Businessmen study books and charts to get the information they need to make good business decisions. Godly people who want to know more about God and His will for their lives spend daily time in His word, in prayer and apply what they learned. Daily time with God will give us the... It becomes a habit and sometimes we aren’t even aware we are doing it. Repetitive tasks on a job may cause our minds to wander. Playing mindless games on the Internet could cause us to waste a lot of time. That is why it is so important we live in the moment. We live on purpose. We do everything God wants us to do with love and understanding that only com... Thu, 9 Mar 2017 06:47:56 EST Thought and Prayer for Wednesday, March 8, 2017 March 8, 2017 KEEP QUIET

When we are knowledgeable, we don’t necessarily have to tell others we are. If we are knowledgeable about something, others will see it in us. When we brag about what we know we look more foolish than knowledgeable. Our knowledge should be something we are humble about. Keeping quieting and not boasting about what we know shows we are both wise and knowledgeable. Just because we know something doesn’t always mean we need to speak. Some of the wisest people ... Meditating on God’s word is so important. It not only makes us wiser and more knowledgeable, but it gives us new insight about our problems. It provides us with answers to our situations and how we can help others. God tells us to keep His word in our hearts and ready on our lips...
