FRAN0426's SparkPeople Blog FRAN0426's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Allergy Blues Welcome friends and thank you for stopping by my blog, which doesn't have a title yet.
We have been enduring the August heat and high humidity here in the metropolitan area for a while. Tonight we finally are getting relief with a thunderstorm and a drop in both humidity and temp. So tomorrow will feel cooler as high only to be 75.
This weekend hasn't been terrific for me. The fall pollen that I am allergic to has come in with a bumper crop, and earlier than usual. So I have... Mon, 17 Aug 2015 00:45:00 EST August Here we are in the month of August and this first full week in moving quickly. Why do summers go so fast, my thought is there is so much we want to do during our short summer season of warm weather here in Mn.
My hubby seems to be doing well, now in his sixth week of recovery from double by-pass surgery. Well enough to be check out places to visit this winter and leave the cold weather behind. So he has narrowed it down to two states, Texas and Az.
This month I think I have f... Thu, 6 Aug 2015 20:59:54 EST July Going Quickly Holy cow where has July gone. Just looked at my calendar this evening and my goodness this month has been flying by too quickly.
I have been getting back to more exercising now that I don't need to be taking my hubby everywhere he needs to go. He saw the heart group that did his surgery last week, told him he can drive again. He does have a bit of trouble with the seat belt strap rubbing on the large chest wound from the surgery though. Tonight one of the neighbors mentioned gettin... Wed, 22 Jul 2015 01:05:06 EST Vacation Almost Over Tomorrow is the last full day at our timeshare Branson Woods. We will be leaving Saturday morning heading back up to Mn. Two weeks here and it really only seems like one. We have seen some magnificent shows over the past two weeks, and a wide variety this time. I do think today's show was my favorite. It was a young somewhere about 40, who has a great voice but sings and acts like other singer, dances like the time period he is doing, and is hilarious too. He did gospel, 60's, 70's, 80... Fri, 22 May 2015 00:57:43 EST April Blog One Day Late Yup, missed the boat by one day to do a April blog, oh well.
Both my hubby and I are both sporting spark activity trackers for a little over a week now, so far it is going well. Recently I have over walked at a rime( yes, it can happen, I have had a partial knee replacement some years ago), for me continuing to walk too much at a time brings on a very painful knee. Saying that, today I joined the month walk challenge, they say you will get you walking slowly into increasing your walk... Fri, 1 May 2015 21:27:11 EST Last Day OF March Today the last day of March, getting honest with myself. Time to get moving this weight loss in the right direction. I have been slowing inching up the scale instead of decreasing since the the last quarter of last year. Today is the day for fixing that. It is a beautiful day here in Burnsville, Mn. temp is warm, little wind so got out for a nice walk wearing my new Memory form Sketchers, hubby going along for the walk. Tue, 31 Mar 2015 17:50:47 EST My Day I had my appointment with my Endo doctor today, turned out better than Oi had expected so happy, happy. me. My blood sugar reading have been elevated off and on, and I usually can figure out why. The last several weeks the readings have stayed higher most of the time, I thought she may decide to put me on a medication. Long story short, she didn't do that yet. During this same time frame I have been experiencing discomfort and pain with one of my diseases, so she said she will give me ti... Fri, 27 Feb 2015 22:27:39 EST First Blog In 2015 Hi everyone. I just figures=d it was way time to get my first blog of the new year blogged. I am still struggling with weight loss bu keep trying to get some head way going here . I usually do three times at the Y pool each week, but think I may change up for awhile and do two days of pool time and one day up in the gym. Hope that will be enough of a change to get something going in the right direction again. I have started doing some strength exercises at home with using hand held weigh... Wed, 14 Jan 2015 20:09:32 EST Me For goodness sake I am falling apart, not mentally but physically lately. I have been getting pain when walking , especially uphill and quicker than my slow pace. Last evening , DH and I decided to walk up a couple of blocks to this nice Asian place for dinner and back home again. Wow! I had to stop several times to let my knee and hip rest before continuing on. We each had a wonderful meal ( mine without any hot sauce, his with some), then started walking downhill home. I didn't need t... Sun, 19 Oct 2014 17:18:02 EST Routine Back We have been home now from vacation since late afternoon last Friday. I am proud to say that I am back to the Y swimming pool two days in a row and plan to go again tomorrow The pools at the time share were just to cold, could not make myself get back in after the first day. My problem now is starting Monday the Y pool will be down for a couple of weeks, while they do the yearly maintenance to the two pools and spa tub. Guess I will have to go to the gym area and do cardio they. This... Wed, 27 Aug 2014 20:34:01 EST Few Days In On Weeks Vacation We are having a great time here in Branson, Mo. I was so looking forward to getting into the pool, let me tell you it feels real cold--not heated pool outside. You would think the heat here would heat that pool. Then I got excited when I saw the indoor pool, dumb me , I asked and nope not heated either---so now I' rather bumbed about the pool situation. So today I spoke up when asked about any changes I would like to see, yup mentioned at least have one heated pool. Ya, bet that goes far... Mon, 18 Aug 2014 22:28:40 EST Getting Ready Today is the day that I am washing clothes and will be giving our place a cleaning job.
Hopefully I will have time to do some kitchen packing of things I want to take with us for our week at our time share. Tomorrow I will go to the gym for another round of water exercises and some water jogging. Then it will be time to pack my suitcase to be as ready as possible to get up very early Friday morning for the ten hour drive. Looking forward to having a swimming pool right at the place ... Wed, 13 Aug 2014 13:14:36 EST Endo Doctor Appointment Wednesday So yesterday I go see my Endo doctor for my type 2 Diabetic check up. She was in the best mood ever since I have been seeing her for the past two years. Any way she was not upset about the blood sugar readings being bit higher, thank goodness for me. She told me to keep checking and if they start going higher to give her a call, not to wait until the next six month check. So I told her I have an ear that is bugging me, so she had a look see and told me it looks like swimmers ear. So she... Thu, 7 Aug 2014 21:11:39 EST Just Rambling A Bit Hi Spark Friends time I get another blog written, time has been flying by too quickly, as summer has a way of doing.
Today I have been to the Y pool for 60 minutes of fun in the pool. From there we went to Cosco and ended buying way more stuff than we had planned. Tue, 5 Aug 2014 17:21:55 EST Feeling Sorry For Myself And Upset Ao our 13 year old granddaughter came to stay with us for three days, promised we would go swimming at the Y. Yes I'm taking her and I have to sit on th side line watching her have a great time. It all started a week ago tomorrow. L had corn on the cob in the microwave , and when I went to get it out---yup, some liquid spilled out onto my stomach. The temp isn't as nice as it had been, but should start climbing again on Easter.
I had to go get my drivers license renewed this morning, needed to be done B/4 the end of the month. I laugh thinking how the renewal card came to Phoenix ( had mail transferred) and nothing could be done until we came back to Mn. Always renewed here every four years the month of your birthday. I ha... Tue, 15 Apr 2014 18:46:25 EST Last Weekend Of Vacation We have come to the last weekend of our time here in Phoenix, the two months have gone by too quickly. We have enjoyed our time here and checked out things we haven't seen before. Must also say going home with more stuff than when we arrived, good thing we drove or we would be paying the airlines some good money to bring the treasures home. We have swam in an outdoor pool --something unheard of in Mn. during winter/early spring. We have walked several places, some several times, meet some ... Sat, 29 Mar 2014 19:01:17 EST Update Of Being In Phoenix My goodness this time has been flying by rather quickly. Its St. Patricks day, and we only have two weeks left here; before starting the drive home to Mn.
We have enjoyed starting in the private home and I am even petting the cat, ya me afraid of cats actually playing with Ms. Minnie. She is about ten years old and very mellow, which make it easy to like her. Since we have never been to Phoenix before we have quite a bit of checking things out---all good days of getting walking in. ... Mon, 17 Mar 2014 21:05:55 EST Hello Phoenix We arrived in Phoenix earlier than we had planned . We left two days early from home due to winter snowy weather was headed into the area again. So we got up Saturday the 25th of Jan. We had great weather traveling to Az. The winter weather was always a day behind us, but it had turned colder. We arrived in Oklahoma City to 70 degrees ( beautiful ). When we woke up the next morning it was only 22 degrees and windy. It stayed 22 degrees until we were at least half way through New Me... Mon, 3 Feb 2014 23:34:31 EST Back On Board With Journey So hubby and I are back at the Y again starting last week and am happy to say we have managed to go there three times both last week and this week. I have hit the pool and doing water aerobics followed by some time in the hot tub pool after each session. It is helping both the bad knee and shoulder and hip that all have been racking havoc since the cold winter has made its appearance.
One more week here is Mn., then we start our road trip to Phenix for two months. We will be stayi... Fri, 17 Jan 2014 20:49:41 EST Year End Wrap Up And Start OF 2014 This year has gone by rather quickly for my hubby and I. With him having eye surgery this past spring and then the Neck artery surgery it has been something, as he says it was his year.
Then the selling of our home to our son ( that worked out nicely as we didn't have to move out the day we signed the papers. Needless to say this all had STRESS related days and some real bummer days of poor eating and little or no exercise.
Christmas eve was spent with daughter and family,... Sat, 28 Dec 2013 16:25:38 EST Getting Ready For The Holidays And More That busy time of the year again for many of us. I have most of the gifts made or boughte but not wrapped yet. Will take a day to do that after getting some of the baking done, as most of the baking goes to family and friends. My friend and I made both apple butter and pumpkin butter that will go along with the baking treats.
Our place is decorated both inside and on our deck , We enjoy having the lights of the season outdoors. This year I actually have some things up that have been... Wed, 11 Dec 2013 20:59:31 EST Yesterday And Today My hubby found out two weeks ago that his right carodid artery was 85% blocked and right one blocked 75% blocked. Yesterday he had surgery to unclog the right one. The surgery got started 2 hours after the original time and lasted three hours. Recovery room was another couple of hours---so didn't get to see until just befor 9 PM last night. This time they actually cut his neck, then the artery to clean it--so no stint. Recovery time will definatly be longer than when he had stints put in... Fri, 22 Nov 2013 16:12:52 EST Great Month Than A Down Week So this week hasn't been my best efforts with workouts, yet it hasn't been a total busr either. Last month i challenged myself with both the food challenge and the skinny jeans challenge, I got a lot of exercise in, more than many months. Now this month I'm experiencing a few medical problems and am tired from the time I get up in the morning. This always seems to slow down my efforts with exercise that I want to do. I know that my body is telling to slow down, and take it easier for a... Fri, 8 Nov 2013 22:07:39 EST Catching Up I joined the 30 day food challenge and the 30 Skinny jeans challenge on Sparks this month, we're on the last two weeks. I thought I needed a boost up with exercise and figured this just might be something I can so. So far I have done well with the exercises however; not eating all the meals they suggest( some of them are just not things I eat )---but certainly check them out and use the ones I am interested in, and figure what can be usable for the ones I'm not totally willing to follow 100... Wed, 16 Oct 2013 15:06:09 EST I Am So Tired Like Never Before I have been experiencing a tiredness I have never had. Sure we all hav days we feel tired, but this is something different. One, my allergy was and still is bothering me maybe less as long as I'm not outdoors a lot. Two, my Gastro doctor put me on a new medication which I need to take the horse size pill twice daily. Today, I finally looked the med. up on the internet. I found out that some people do have tiredness and weakness when on the med. Lucky me, seems like the med. is working, ... Wed, 18 Sep 2013 02:31:34 EST My August Time for another blog before August comes to a close.
It has been very hot and humid here much of last week and all of this week. Nutually it is state fair time in Mn. and it is really hurting attendance this year with dew points up in the 70's.
WE had a walk out doors today up to the pharmacy and woo that took my breath away with being Asmatic and the high dew point. Plan on doing a bit of walking in the hallways here tonight. Granddaught here and she and grandpa walked around a... Wed, 28 Aug 2013 20:50:48 EST Venting Let me tell you all that I am still dealing with a fibromyalgia flare since we started packing to move. I can honestly say this is the worst one ever. It has involved my neck, shoulders, arms, hands, lower legs and feet.
Now to add insult I have an internal medical problem that started fpor days ago, between the both of them I am having some rough days and nights. So I put myself on the brat died today( not working yet). Exercise has come to a standstill as well. I did try some exe... Mon, 5 Aug 2013 21:21:42 EST Busy Week We have been very busy, but this week is by far the busiest for us. It is down to the wrapping and boxing of the dishes, pots and pans etc. A milestone happened today we closed on the home we have been living in for the past 44 years. The selling of our home was an inside job---our son bought our home. Friday we close on our new adventure in a subburb of Minneapolis; living in a 55+ co-operative. In the meantime with all the hours I have been getting ready to move I'm hoping it will ... Tue, 16 Jul 2013 01:02:42 EST Nut Shell Of Vacation And A Bit More Hi Spark friends, it has been a long time since my last blog.
We arrived home last Sunday from our three week vacation that took us to Witchita, Ks., the first night and we visited with DD and family. The next morning we headed southwest and made it to Albaqurqee, N.M. for the night. The third day was a breeze into Sedona, Az. where we stayed for the next ten days. Lots of walking, shopping and good eating. We left Sedona and headed for the Grand Canyon. It was there that I discover... Thu, 6 Jun 2013 22:59:37 EST This And That Time for me to just do a blog, as it has been way to long.
Hubby had his eye surgery, and is doing well. Dr. pulled the stitch after one week, instead of two weeks, and let him go back to his part-time job. Good for both of us. although the golf courses should be opening this week---maybe as we have been having some melting of snow, rain instead which helps. However, they say rain the next couple of days turning to snow and lots of winds again.
I myself have been doing rather w... Mon, 8 Apr 2013 18:23:49 EST Sad Day We are having a sad day here at our house. During the ealy AM (3:20) our loved fur sheltie baby passed away. DH and I stayed right with her, stoking her head and talking with her. DH then brought Princess to her Vet. clinic for cremation this morning. She had been failing, but since last weekend she was doing better. Well she went her way and it happened with a couple of hours.
My second reason for my sadness is one of my medical problems has decided to show up with a vengence sinc... Thu, 7 Mar 2013 16:00:21 EST Feeling Better My goodness February has arrived, I noticed only one blog done by me for January.
I'm feeling a lot better and have started going back to the Y this week. I got two sessions in the pool this week at 45 minutes each. This is the first week back to the Y since my recent illness that had me sleeping long hours for several days. Then after the illness, my asthma kicked in and with some nasty cold days here I didn't make it outside. I hope within two weeks I will once again exercise f... Fri, 1 Feb 2013 18:16:49 EST My Goals For Now I have taken the time today to get my goals for this year started, some I have been doing, some I need to improve on, and then there is one that will happen now until we move.
I have done well with logging on every day and hopefully this trend will continue for seeing no problems to keep from doing so.
Continue tracking food ---at leat 4/5 times aweek.
Continue tracking water even if I don't make the days quota--shows where imrovement needed.
Continue tracking all exercis... Sat, 5 Jan 2013 17:25:14 EST Food choices I have had two days of bad choices on food that I consumed, two in a row. Now I usually do pretty well and have an off day every so often, but this is not acceptable. Sure I know what happened, two days of over indulging on cookies I baked, plus eating out having some pizza which wasn't completly awful; but add that bottle of root beer (that wasn't diet) holy cow that was three carb. I won't be making that mistake again. Generally I'll have one glass of white wine or iced or hot tea, but... Sat, 15 Dec 2012 18:12:01 EST This Week Wow, this is my second blog this month. Fri, 30 Nov 2012 17:08:14 EST Getting Back My Mojo First of all, I dinn't realize it has been so long (Oct 6th ) since my last blog. Spark friends I have finally gotten the mojo back and have spent some time Monday at the Y in the pool---it felt marvelous, and plan on going again tomorrow. Thought I had better start out slower and wait to get back doing Zumba. In the pool I'm the controller instead of following the Zumba instructor, my body isn't quite ready for that yet. Today I also did strength exercises at home using my 6 pounds wei... Wed, 14 Nov 2012 16:43:00 EST Catching Up ToDate It has been quite awhile since I blogged, I have been out of touch , just doing the bare minimum the past several weeks. I have been ill , gotten better and now the the darn infection seems like its back again. I will go see my doctor for my Asthma this Tuesday. as my primary doctor suggested I go see him now instead of in November. Sat, 6 Oct 2012 17:46:35 EST Home Hubby, the dog and I returned home from visiting with my sister and BIL this afternoon. It is always good to see them as the two of us are identical twins and grew up very close, we even went to the same school after graduation and moved in together once we started our careers. Some other similarities we both married fella from Hibbing, Mn. and both had the same letter starting their last name ---as us ours. My sister was left a widow at age 29, with three small children basically strane... Tue, 28 Aug 2012 19:47:31 EST I'm Lost Iknow where I am , my lose is being without my podometer. The one I have been using for the past several years has up and crocked--blank, nothing. I have been wondering about it for awhile as some days my steps just didn' seem right. We changed the battery and was still having problems so my hubby changed it to his setting and yes it wasn't counting step properly. We changed the battery again and blank screen stares at us---hubby says I guess it's done working. We ordered me a new one, n... Wed, 22 Aug 2012 16:36:49 EST This Week The week has flown by quickly for me, probabely do to it being a busy one for me. Monday missed line dancing as hubby needed to have an emergency visit to the doctor. He had stints put in leading into the heart not long ago and was having pain. I did go and did water aerobics Monday afternnon. Tuesday through Thursday had a dance exercise class each morning, and today rode the recumbant bike and strength exercises; got some walking in this week too. Fri, 10 Aug 2012 20:42:03 EST Boosting Up Amount Of Exercise Days We ( DH and I ) are trying real hard to up the number of days we go to the gym-trying to be consistant with five days a week being the goal, and maybe six days some weeks. I am still getting ajusted to that many days a week, and some days I need a nap. I now have restarted doing Zumba. The Y we go to most of the time ended the day Zumba gold classes; but found a Y near that offers two one hour session---Woo-Hoo. We will be taking them with us on vacation Saturday.
Today was spent with me cleaning and changing bed linens. GD was assigned her room to clean up so I could strip the bed and replace with fresh linens and vac and dust. Well, that was slow going, but was fina... Wed, 27 Jun 2012 20:07:44 EST Just storming Wow, just found out that the storm that blew through during overnight in the twin cities was ranked as one of the 15 worst ever. The winds reach 75 mph and did a lot of damage and the clean up cost and electrical restoring will have a price tag of 2 million dollars. That was the second night straight we had severe storms go through overnight, and tonight very likely will make it three as it is hot and muggy again today. Just another week of Mn. weather, but the temps will be lowering starti... Tue, 19 Jun 2012 18:24:48 EST Time in Mo. We got a much later start to our vacation than we had planned. Our friends granddaughter was in a horrific motorcycle accident the day before we left. All last week while we were at Lake of the Ozarks we thought we would be heading back home as she required several long operations---but there was nothing any of us could do for her; they talked with her every day. We arrived in Branson on Sunday and thought we would only be here for a few days as she was due to go home and our friends thoug... Mon, 11 Jun 2012 22:39:47 EST
