I think it is appropriate for this day when our clocks just moved ahead an hour.

Life Is Just A Minute

Life is just a minute—only sixty seconds in it.
Forced upon you—can't refuse it.
Didn't seek it—didn't choose it.
But it's up to you to use it.
You must suffer if you lose it.
Give an account if you abuse it.
Just a tiny, little minute,
But eternity is in it!

By Dr. Benjamin El... Sun, 8 Mar 2015 11:05:07 EST Dog Lovers - this will touch your heart As most of you know, I am a real dog lover. I love all animals, but especially dogs. I have had four wondrous canine companions in my life and I loved them all very much. My last dog, Megan, is the one you see in my photo. She passed away some years ago with epilepsy.

A friend of mine, another dog lover, sent me this story. If you don't want to cry (like I did), go no further. This story is one that I will always remember. Also note that Duke has only three legs.

To ... Wed, 16 Jul 2014 12:41:33 EST Our Fallen Officers Are Now "Off Duty" (Touching Photos) I attended the funeral service for our three fallen police officers yesterday. It was a very emotional day. I thought as a final tribute to them, I would post a few photos to give just a glimpse of the outpouring of love and pride that our community, our nation and the world have toward these fallen heroes.

Part of the procession

<... Wed, 11 Jun 2014 10:39:49 EST My Memorial to the Fallen As most of you know by now, our town has undergone, and is still undergoing, a tragic experience where three of our police officers were shot and killed and two were wounded by a mad gunman a couple of days ago. The gunman was charged yesterday with three counts of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder.

I would like to do my part in blogging a memorial to the three fallen officers and say a prayer for them and their families and to the RCMP family who are taking th... Sat, 7 Jun 2014 10:20:07 EST Gunman Captured I blogged yesterday that our city was on lockdown after a gunman killed 3 police officers and injured 2 others.

The gunman was captured shortly after midnight in the backyard of a local residence behind a row of trees. He gave up without incident and left his weapons in the back yard of the house.

I would like to remember the fallen officers:

Const. Fri, 6 Jun 2014 08:28:45 EST Terror In Our Town In my town last night a heavily armed gunman shot and killed three police officers and critically wounded two others. He is still at large but the police are surrounding him.

The entire city is shut down. Everything is closed and hardly a car is moving. Until they catch this person, the city will be locked down. Helicopters are everywhere.

I can't believe this happened in a close-knit, serene and quiet community like this. One wouldn't think that this could happen here. ... Sat, 17 May 2014 09:40:14 EST Eye Update Hi friends,

I last blogged about having an eye infection. I thought I would blog an update on this. I used prescription eye drops for 10 days along with an ointment at bedtime. My eyes felt much better.

I saw my ophthalmologist on Monday and there was no sign of infection in either eye. So that was great news. So I am done with the drops.

I can see clearly now. Wait, isn't that the name of a song?

Have a super week Sparkers! Wed, 7 May 2014 10:29:07 EST Happy I Saw The Eye Doctor I had been having itchy, red eyes since Tuesday. I have had "dry eyes" in the past and have used things like artificial tears and so on. I also thought that it might be an allergy. So I decided that I would call my ophthalmologist to see what he recommended. He gave me an appointment for Friday (today).

I was happy I decided to see him as I had a bacterial infection in both eyes. He gave me prescription eye drops to take during the day and a prescription eye ointment to use before ... And, it's been a great website. However, I am getting totally frustrated with the site over the past months and especially over the past few weeks.

I know they need ad revenue to keep the site free, and I understand that. Sun, 22 Sep 2013 09:51:27 EST Health Update Hi my Spark Friends!

As some of you are aware, I have been battling a throat issue ever since I got rid of a bad cold in April of this year. I have become hoarse, had irritation, coughs, voice changes and on and on. This has really eaten into my Spark People time and my lifestyle changes that I want to make. My progress since April has pretty much been non-existent.

I have seen several doctors about this, had to take many medications (mostly antibiotics), and got a refe... Fri, 13 Sep 2013 11:56:01 EST My Mom Passed Away One Year Ago Today

Dear Friends,

I am very teary eyed and sorrowful today. As I write this it is a year to the hour that my dear Mom passed away to the Lord.

She was such a wonderful Mom. She would never complain even though we had little in earthly goods. She made do with what we did have. I can remember her baking in the kitchen and giving me words of wisdom over a meal or after school.

She had be... Tue, 25 Dec 2012 09:15:17 EST Well, I Did It - I Moved - Woohoo!

Hi friends,

My last blog was back in May and at that time I was on the fence about selling my house and moving into an apartment.

Well, after a lot of soul-searching and praying, I decided that to sell the house and move into a nice apartment would be good for me.

I looked at many apartment buildings and most of them just didn't have the right "feel" to them. Maybe some of you have some thoughts on this subject or have gone through the process before. I am having a difficult time deciding whether to keep my home or whether to sell it and rent an apartment.

I have lived in my home a long time with virtually the same great neighbors. Fri, 20 Apr 2012 09:51:29 EST My Mom Has Passed

For many of my Spark Friends that have been following my Mom's journey through dementia, I am so sad to say that she passed away this morning. I was with her all day yesterday at her special care home and came home to get a couple of hours sleep. I went back this morning and she was still with us.

I stroked her hair, told her how much I loved her and said to her that it is okay to go. Two hours later she... Thu, 19 Apr 2012 13:04:35 EST Prayers Needed for my Mom Hello my Spark Friends,

As some of you know, my Mom (who is 95) has been in a special care home for dementia patients for almost five years. Her health has been steadily declining over the past few months and weeks. Her home is so wonderful and the people there are so caring. I thank God for them.

I had visited her on Sunday and she seemed quite well but yesterday I received a call that my Mom had taken a bad turn and that her oxygen rate was low as well as her blood pre... Wed, 18 Apr 2012 10:21:31 EST So many private pages now.

I guess the fiasco over the Share Bar, which has now been pulled by SP, had major consequences in that many members have now decided to make their profiles private. In a sense, it is good that people are more aware of privacy issues perhaps now more than ever. But it does pose a dilemma for me.

When I go on my Friend Feed or huddle in my groups every day, I see blogs that I would love to read or respond ... Wed, 18 Jan 2012 15:14:45 EST Inadvertently Sharing Your Blogs? I received this email from my friend EMMABE1. Perhaps some others may have recived this as well. Sat, 14 Jan 2012 09:30:34 EST Christmas with my Mom On Christmas Day morning I went to visit my Mom in her special care home. When I got there she had just finished having her breakfast. The staff took her to the living room and she settled into a nice comfy chair by her favourite picture window. She was able to use her walker. Some days she has to be in a wheel chair.

I gave her a black and white plushy panda bear which she absolutely loved. Tue, 27 Dec 2011 10:11:26 EST My early Christmas present with Mom Sometimes I think God must be looking down on me and smiling. Yesterday I think he said, "I am going to give Bob a wonderful Christmas gift even though it is a wee bit early."

My Mom, who will be 95 next month, is in a special care home for dementia patients. She loves it there. There are only 10 residents in the home and 3 full-time staff to look after them. There are always home cooked meals and they have a wonderful time. God bless the staff as they are so good. Mom has been the... Sun, 18 Dec 2011 11:20:08 EST Changing Our Outlook I was listening to a Joyce Meyer conference in which she states how our lives could change for the better with a little adjustment in our attitude.

Here are some interesting things she said:

Should you be grumpy because you had a hard time sleeping, think of the homeless family that has no bed to lie in.

Should you find yourself stuck in traffic, don't despair as there are people in the world for whom driving an automobile is an unheard of privilege.
<BR... Sun, 8 May 2011 11:25:58 EST The Wedding and Thoughts

Hi friends,

Many people have weighed in on today's Royal Wedding of WIlliam and Kate. Many people have panned it, saying what a waste of time and what is all the hoopla about. That's okay, I can accept that, but my thought is this: Isn't it nice to get away from the gloom and doom of all of the everyday news and have a few happy hours?

We don't (at least I don't) get enough happy hours in our ... It seems to me (and I have been told by the staff there) that she is becoming more involved in her own little world. That is until the freezing came out.

The tooth ached and pained that day so I called the dental office the next day and they s...
