Thu, 21 Feb 2013 13:15:55 EST My Grain Free Pasta eBook! I have to repost.... my last blog was deleted. Because I linked to my website (which was NOT a direct link to any ebook selling page). However, it really bugged me, so I am reposting and leaving out all links.

Anyhow, I'm very excited about my new eBook! It really is ground breaking. I believe that I'm the first one to write any kind of cook book that contains grain free pasta recipes.

I dedicated the book to my Grampa Rocky (short for Rocco). He was a chef and owner of... Wed, 20 Feb 2013 14:19:45 EST Grain Free Pasta Recipes Gosh! I’ve been so busy working on my new ebook cook book. It is short but it contains some great grain free pasta and pizza recipes (as well as few other gems). This stuff is so good! I’ve been eating it daily for about 3 months now…. not that I recommend that, but I had to make each recipe umpteen million times to make sure I got it just right. So needless to say, my family and I are ready to eat something besides Italian food for a while. lol

Anyhow, although I’ve been eating pi... But they wouldn't ship it to Canada, so I developed my own recipe. The ingredients are a little different from theirs. All paleo, wheat free, gluten free, grain free, dairy free. Fairly low carb, although not completely starch free. I would consider this a Paleo-friendly treat for perhaps a Sunday dinner or something.

I made some, and EVEN I couldn't have told you it wasn't ... Sat, 15 Dec 2012 15:59:54 EST 5 Year Spark Anniversary! Wow! I've been Sparking for almost 5 years now. My Clean Eating team has grown to over $17,000 members. I started that team on my own several years ago, and it's my "baby".
Anyhow, I wanted to write a brief blog on how using the Spark trackers, tools and community have helped me.
I started Sparking and I lost about 50 pounds. Things were great until... I was almost at my goal weight, when... I started having some trouble. A plateau, I guess. It was at that time that I really start... Mon, 22 Oct 2012 13:45:00 EST Intermittent Fasting. It's actually working! I've been doing this for 6 days. I'm already down approximately 6 pounds. The scale hadn't moved in over a year. My calories are in the same range and so are my macros. When I look back to when the "trouble" began, I wonder now if it wasn't the "clean eating" as outlined by Tosca Reno. Eating 5-6 small meals per day maybe made my metabolism a little bit lazy???
In fact, I have dropped weight so quickly this week that I may even have to add some calories back in.
I'm really glad I've... Sat, 22 Sep 2012 14:03:58 EST Insulin Resistant??? Intermittent Fasting?! I am always Blogging about my "current plan" in an attempt to find something that works for me. Yay!
However, this past year I have gained back around 35 pounds. I honestly haven't been sure why. (Well, maybe I have some ideas...) I still workout. I still track my food. Even after all this time.
I ... I didn't want to promote stuff on this site; it's not my intention. It's just that so many Spark members ask me where they can get this stuff. I went to the Fall fair and what an improvement in FOOD! Of course, there was the usual "deep fried waffle dogs", (gag), chill cheese bites and other crap. But yesterday I was able to have FRESH squeezed lemonade, sweetened with stevia and a FRESHLY made Greek salad with nothing more than fresh veggies, feta and olive oil, balsamic and some spice (I think it was just parsley).
Of course, before leaving I couldn't resist a Caramel Apple. lol
<img src="http://photos-ak.sparkpeo... Fri, 12 Aug 2011 12:14:27 EST Against the Grain. And Low fat Dairy. If I can't talk everyone into getting rid of grain from their diets, then maybe I can at least talk some of you into eating a LOT LESS grain. The current food guide recomends 6-11 servings of grain per day. This is a lot of PIG food! Especially when you combine it with skim milk and low fat dairy products. (What do you think pig farmers feed their pigs to make them really FAT?)
As far as I'm concerned, grain (as well as HFCS) is the big part of the current obesity problem. When grain wa... Mon, 20 Jun 2011 16:09:18 EST Wow! Coconut Oil Cure? OK. So for those who know me, you already know that I am hypothyroid, and have started using coconut oil almost exclusively as my healthy fat.
It is true that coconut oil is a medium chain fatty acid and when it hits your liver it is turned immediately into energy. It is not stored as fat (like many other fats and carbs). BUT!!! When I was researching coconut oil I had ALSO found that many thyroid patients were able to reduce their thyroid meds and some were even able to go off of meds ... Thu, 14 Apr 2011 21:36:23 EST The MERCURY in me I had another appointment with my naturopath today. The tests confirm that I have a high degree of mercury toxicity in my body. This may not be good, but it is GREAT to finally know what is wrong with me. My doc feels that this is the cause of my hypothyroidism and also why my body is being resistant to the thyroid medication.
My thyroid is still functioning but my body has become resistant to the thyroid hormone that it produces. This makes me Type 2 hypothyroid.
Anyhow, the outcom... Mon, 24 Jan 2011 19:08:50 EST Some Progress... No weight loss progress (not really) but making progress with my thyroid situation. My thyroid medication is up to 125. The naturopath says the average dose is 185mg, so it looks like I'm approaching somewhere near to that according to my body temps.
Anyhow, to get a jumpstart on some weight loss she asked if I wanted to try a week long diet. It's only a week and can be extended to two if desired, but no longer. At that time I will start adding in some healthy fats and fruits, etc.
... Thu, 20 Jan 2011 18:31:17 EST The Results Are In... OK. So, Ive been diagnosed with hypothyroid type 2. That means that my blood tests are all normal. Good thing I went to a naturopath instead of a medical doctor. A medical doc would have said I'm fine and sent me home. The naturopath has gone a step further. We have taken careful study of my basal body temp. It is 95.7 degree F. Normal temp is 98.6. So, my body temp is three degrees cooler than it should be. This translates into a much slower metabolism. Gesh! And I was starting to think that... Thu, 16 Dec 2010 16:13:10 EST Homemade Implants LMAO!!!
Mon, 8 Nov 2010 22:36:58 EST My EXCITING news! And a Progress Update. I'm trying to follow Dr. Mercola's eating plan for a "protein type" which is what he has typed me as. And in retrospect, this just makes sense.
So, this week I have gone down 7 pounds. Of course I'm sure most of it is water weight, but just the same I do feel better and have more energy. My macros are 40% protein, 30% c... Sat, 16 Oct 2010 15:40:45 EST Glycemic Load OK. Sat, 26 Jun 2010 23:20:10 EST Enjoying My Meal It's funny. All the experts say NOT to watch TV or do other things while eating. For me, I enjoy checking emails, or reading a magazine and casually eating my lumch. If I sit at the table, just me and my food, I can't help but to scarf it down. All my focus is on the food! And then I need more food!
I think for me the distraction of other things makes me slow down and actually enjoy my food more. Funny...
