FITBIZZZ's SparkPeople Blog FITBIZZZ's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community flowing firmly It just occurred to me that I'm my lowest weight since I can remember. Well not my 20s and high school, still working on getting back to my fighting weight (more like my flute playing weight). BUT for now, I haven't been this light since 2012 and I was 3 lbs heavier then.

Then it dawned on me, that's when I splurged on an expensive (for me) sports bra! I bet it'll fit again!

... Wed, 20 Jul 2016 10:52:37 EST 8 hours I've played around with intermittent fasting the likes of Dr. Oz and Jimmy Kimmel. I don't subscribe to the whole theory but have found it helpful for my overall well being. I recently came across another technique: Eat in an 8 hour window and don't eat for the other 16 hours. I really don't know the details and all roads lead to really long infomercials that don't get to the point. Since I would make it my own anyway, that's what I'll do with the little info I have- make it up. I'm at a plac... Tue, 19 Jul 2016 11:40:24 EST pretty little leftovers We'll start with today. For lunch, I had some pretty little leftovers. Last night we had roasted chicken, roasted squash & zucchini, and olive bread with tomatoes from market.

Which leaves chicken salad with cucumbers and cherries today!

Measured out one cup. With a cherry on top of course! Yum!

<img src=" Mon, 18 Jul 2016 13:20:00 EST the sun is a mass of incandescent gas This week has been fabulous, jam-packed fun, and just busy. West went with his grandparents for a few days leaving the Walrus and I to have a date day Sunday! It was just what the doctor ordered. We started the day off with yoga at the falls and then took our kayaks upriver. It was cool and overcast and just plain perfect. AND we got some rain so the water wasn't as stagnant as the previous week when I was on the river with West. We napped, watched movies, and honored our dinner reservations ... Thu, 14 Jul 2016 09:30:27 EST so yesterday I had planned on walking the canyon rim while Westley went to climbing practice but jeez it was hot as blazes (as my ma used to say)! Luckily, I brought work with me which allowed me to finish for the day....leaving the rest of the evening to get my steps in once the sun went down. This is how I used to do my walks, at night or during twilight. This year, I switched to the dawn hours. I really like both. I'd kind of forgotten how much I loved evening walks. I like watching the sunset and moon... Fri, 8 Jul 2016 12:29:59 EST super cranks It's kind of like being a Super Freak (the girl's a super freak. She's super-freaky, yow) but not. I was super cranks after my REV appointment and proceeded to go to yin yoga anyway. Yow, indeed. I couldn't settle into the poses and everything was very uncomfortable. I didn't have the luxury of just putting myself to bed like I usually do when I'm like this. I was an hour from home and it was already late. AND I wasn't done working. Wah wah wah.

To top it all off? The Walrus order... Thu, 7 Jul 2016 10:59:58 EST loose hips, tight jaw Had a wonderful hot yoga class last night. Hard and heavenly. But hard. But also heavenly. I took from a teacher I took from when West was but a wee lad. I really like how she challenges us and teaches us the steps to get to the more difficult poses, like crow. I didn't get there last night but had fun trying. I've subscribed to her videos for the past several years and she has cleaned up my form quite a bit even if I haven't seen her in like, ahem, 8 years.

I prefaced the class wi... Wed, 6 Jul 2016 10:07:34 EST hot yoga... ...check it and see. I've got a fever of a hundred and three. Come on baby you can do more than that cuz I'm hot yoga hot yogaaa!

Not much to say today. Playing around with the vlog this morning. So thankful we're getting rain today!

I'm still in the running for the last A standing. I could be wrong, I don't think I'm in a position to be the biggest loser (with less than 20 lbs to lose overall). BUT my goal is to hang on ... Tue, 5 Jul 2016 10:10:35 EST time keeps on ticking ticking ticking... into the future. ALAS, the bemoaned vlog is up! This just might be a failure all the way around. In addition to not being able to upload to SP, I "recorded" it the first time without pressing record, and I think I talked too low. Little man was still sleeping so I was trying not to wake him up but still trying to get it done before he wakes up (he's at the age where I'm starting to embarrass him). So yeah, closed captioning would help. Hopefully you can understand me with the volume turned up... Sat, 2 Jul 2016 07:21:44 EST the vlog that didn't happen but might still So, I won't be making a vlog again anytime soon. I don't remember it being this hard to upload last time I did one. 9 hours and it crashed at 98%. I succumbed to youtube so here we go. Maybe tomorrow. It's still uploading.

Funny little story for today. We took Westley to the pool and I decided to swim for a change. I've only swam once before this season. I went to the diving board (this pool is ALWAYS cold so the only way to get in is to just jump in) and this boy Robert* was waiti... Fri, 1 Jul 2016 20:59:06 EST just buyin' what they're sellin' Hello, I saw you, I know you I knew you. I think I can remember your name.

So, I've started a little game of embedding song lyrics in my posts. Just seeing how many ear-worms I can get started for Serene-Again (hhheeeyyy girl!). Won't you play along?

Just came off my adjustment at REV this morning and feeling spectacular and achy at the same time. I think that was my 7th visit. I get re-evaluated in a week. As I mentioned yesterday, I love the SUP! I'm a lot disappointed... Mon, 27 Jun 2016 10:42:48 EST morning shenanananana shenanigans What a beautiful morning, what a beautiful day! Warm but cooling breeze and overcast so it was shady. Shine & I walked 2 miles then we loaded the kayaks in the sooouuulllll train (that's what I call my car), and headed to the falls. The guys kayaked while I got my yoga chill on with friends.

So get this! I've been lamenting on for a couple of months now about how I've been wanting to try SUP. Lo and behold, the yoga instructor brought hers and she let me try it!!! How fun is this?... Sun, 26 Jun 2016 14:18:48 EST befores Today! The 5% challenge begins. Sat, 25 Jun 2016 10:22:33 EST black black black coffee in bed The boy and I splurged on some cold brew coffee concentrate yesterday and tried it out this morning. A big thumbs up. I know, coffee concentrate? That's kind of like those really quick cooking rice packs where you don't have to do anything but heat it up. When, as a society, did we find cooking rice and brewing coffee SO hard and time consuming that we have to buy it already made?!?

Well, here I am. But I still cook my rice the old fashioned way dagnabit!

And actually, I... Fri, 24 Jun 2016 18:02:48 EST where's that smell? Hot Yoga was SO good last night and a perfect way to celebrate International Yoga Day. The "free"-ness was a help too. This particular studio [was] weird in that they were known for being a bunch hard core competitive yogis. I say "weird" because hard core+competitive+yogis does not calculate. BUT I've always liked the instructors, the classes, and how the classes made me feel so I just always holed up in the corner and minded my biz except when I came out of the moment to admire their beauti... Wed, 22 Jun 2016 08:36:00 EST a bit off So my resolve to stay focused on one subject in a post, lasted all of two posts. Heheh.

WELLNESS & HEALING
I am so sore!

I've have had 4 sessions with the chiropractor. I really don't like calling these docs chiropractors. There's no popping, jolting, or the like. There are pressure points and transfers and movement of energy though. I really don't know how to describe it. I've also mentioned the highs and lows and this the last two days is leaving me sore. He told... Tue, 21 Jun 2016 13:38:39 EST Standing desk I've designed and redesigned a standing work desk for a couple of years now. I really need to act. Since Mondays are typically slow at the shop, I'm giving it a go at our counter. Burn 60 more calories an hour? Yes please. Mon, 20 Jun 2016 11:00:44 EST anxiety level: green Wow! I didn't check in on SP yesterday. I'm SO behind. My Father's Day gift to the Walrus is to give him the day off and work the shop for him today. It's not a busy kind of work most times. Busy interspersed with rushes. Point is, I think I have time to catch up a bit.

5% challenge starts next week. So there's that. I'm trying to remember how it all works. Hoping it will come back to me. ;-)

I've found a bit of momentum in my weight loss and achieving wellness. I've hi... Sun, 19 Jun 2016 13:21:42 EST second sesh I had my second session with the holistic chiropractor followed by an Optimal Living 101 class. I really learned a lot. I'm thrilled so far and I got treated by Dr. Monica this time so now I'm familiar with both doctors. I had a tougher time settling in this time but got just as much if not more out of it than my first session with Dr. Matt.

What followed were the most vivid dreams of the likes I haven't had in quite some time.

<img src="http://photosaws.sparkpeople.c... Fri, 17 Jun 2016 09:28:29 EST i'm crooked SO! I had more health news to share like I mentioned yesterday. I told a friend (hheeyy SERENE-AGAIN!) I was trying to be more succinct in my blogs (not really how my brain works and that usually reflects in my writing). A little more focus couldn't hurt. I'm talking about more than one subject at a time, not my tendency to ramble and digress. Baby steps.

I've been struggling for quite a while. Thu, 16 Jun 2016 07:48:05 EST veggie delight One of my favorite things about summer, right below the freed-up schedule I've mentioned a time or ten, is the produce. PRODUCE! The Walrus does a market 2-3 times a week and we're always making trades. He came home with the mother lode last Friday. And, well you know produce, you gotta use it or lose it. We've been using it with only a few casualties to the compost.

I thought I would share some of the bounty in visual form. Again, if you're one who rolls yours eyes at pictures of ... Wed, 15 Jun 2016 08:43:35 EST mornings The last few mornings have been quite blissful. Early, sunrise walks followed by yoga.

Saturday, I got up early and walked Shine a couple of miles. Then I headed to the state park for some early morning yoga. My friend and organizer caught this pic.

I'm so excited. They're trying to make this a regular thing. Sun, 12 Jun 2016 16:30:02 EST sightings & progress Yesterday I changed things up a bit and split my walk into morning and twilight. It was nice. The morning offered weather in the high 50s and twilight in the high 70s. Couldn't ask much better than that. The twilight was a walk on my beloved canyon rim whilst the boy went to climbing practice. I came back and worked upper body on our friends' work benches: chest flies, chest presses, bicep curls, tricep kickbacks, overhead should raises, and frontal shoulder raises. Wore myself out I did. <BR... Fri, 10 Jun 2016 08:54:36 EST first swim Upon entering the pool yesterday, this is what I overheard:

kids: MARCO!!! POLO!!! MARCO!!! POLO!!! BUT I was sluggish and achy and not really feeling like a walk. Then I pondered the alternative. Get to work straight away and stiffen up even mo... Wed, 8 Jun 2016 09:04:43 EST filed under eee-ouch Yesterday, I mentioned (very briefly) about working on my downstairs muscles. I can go up hill all day long but my downhill muscles are weak. I've been pretty active with my hiking and walking this year but I'm to the point where weaknesses are making themselves known. I need to up my resistance training. I just haven't been consistent on that front. I started working on my upper body last month since I've been walking so much. Now, I'm added lower body resistance as well.

I've per... Tue, 7 Jun 2016 11:07:13 EST weekend warrior Jenn and my plans were thwarted. Thwarted I tell ya! Blast! Heh. The weather was so stormy for the last few days and the trails were saturated. We did not get to do Part I of hiking 40 miles of Berry College. It's a shame too. Jenn & I, but especially Jenn, were really looking forward to it. She's getting surgery this week and is looking at about 3-4 weeks recovery so we were looking forward to this last hurrah for a few weeks. We waffled back and forth all Saturday night and finally decided ... Mon, 6 Jun 2016 10:07:41 EST Shine knows Shine knows exactly what to do after 10 miles in the rain. Sun, 5 Jun 2016 12:22:30 EST ready steady Today, I'm back at my normal summer Saturday gig- running the shop. We have to come super early so the Walrus and Westley can load up and go to Saturday market. I actually had my $%^& together as in I didn't have to bring my full-time work here to stay caught up. (Have I mentioned that I love summer schedule?!? A hundred times.) So, I'm all caught up which leaves me to catching up on shop stuff and just talking and having fun with customers instead. LOVE it!

As I mentioned in my fe... Sat, 4 Jun 2016 10:43:32 EST less than stellar Don't get me wrong, I had a good start to the day. It just fell, well, less than stellar. I woke up later than I have been so it felt like I was behind. Which is silly because I work at home on my own time. I still try to keep it in check so I don't work late in the evenings and the leftovers on the weekends though. It's all good. I just didn't feel like being there and it was hotter being an hour later and all. I'm trying not to use the alarm clock this summer unless I have to.

It... Fri, 3 Jun 2016 10:37:35 EST oops i did it again
Indeed.

So four days in a row now of getting up and walking first thing. It feels good. I didn't think I would like it but I do. I do. I do like it Sam I am. Dare I say it might become a habit? You know, until it turns cold again in which I will want the warmth of the afternoon sun.

So many advantages to the early rising:
-it's not hot as hades yet
-I don't burn thi... Thu, 2 Jun 2016 09:37:59 EST best laid plans Best laid plans go better than planned. Sometimes. I thought I would try getting up 15 minutes earlier today. After working past 11 last night and reading until I don't know when, I promptly set my alarm for 30 minutes later than I first planned.

But voila! I woke up earlier than both times.

Full. Of. It.

I thought, well isn't this a good day for a couple more miles than usual.

And so it went. I did manage to get up earlier and it was good. I'm going to try 15 minutes earlier tomorrow. Today, I stuck to the road bypassing the trails because I couldn't find the bug spray (I promptly found it when I got home. Oof.). The temperature's rising quickly today so I was happy to reach the high 60º temp hour.

Yes... Tue, 31 May 2016 10:11:05 EST morning has broken.... and the blackbirds are making quite the ruckus along with all the other morning fowl. BUT it's all good as I'm adjusting to my new summer schedule. I started today by getting up early and immediately going for a walk. In the fall, winter, and spring, I'm in the habit of walking midday but yesterday proved to be the last time for that. Although not hot as blazes yet, it's getting there. It was a nice morning and Shine was raring to go but a new note to self: bugs are out in the morning too. Oy... Mon, 30 May 2016 10:09:45 EST winding down Ahhhh, end of school and the subsequent shenanigans. All done. Now, to start the pace in life my family as a whole enjoys much more. Sure, there will be camps and other shenanigans but it's still much slower and most importantly, all of our own choices. LOVE love love summertime!

So, we wound down with some parties, swimming, and I brought back some oldie but goodies as well as a new project.

First, I cast on for a water bottle cozy sling because I decided it's too much ... Sun, 29 May 2016 13:48:12 EST challenged? Yep, that's me. I'm a special kind of challenged. Let's see where to start on this week's challenges.

Between getting back from my office trip to Atlanta and changing into my play clothes, I have misplaced my fitbit. I was cleaning like a madwoman when I remarked to Westley, that dangit, I didn't put my fitbit back on after changing. House cleaning is always good for extra steps! Oh well. I, with a capital EYE, know it.

Still couldn't find it this morning. It got me th... Wed, 25 May 2016 10:04:56 EST fabulousness Ohmygosh! Aren't these just FABulous! I'm really getting excited about Buttercup's graduation party this week and then my friend whose daughter's graduation party was last week had these monstrosities (but FAB monstrosities) leftover and didn't know what to do with them, so she called me and asked if I wanted them and I was all like helsyeah! Sun, 22 May 2016 11:28:48 EST happy accidents With the house maintenance woes behind me for the time being, I move on to D.A.R.E. The kids enjoyed a county-wide DARE graduation. If you don't know, it's a whole program to teach kids to say no to drugs. Stands for drugs awareness-something-or-another. I dunno. It was highly entertaining and a whole slew of kids won bikes for their essays and drawings. It was nice. Thu, 19 May 2016 08:13:42 EST good help found I bow down to the septic god of whom I just found out his name thoust Donnie. Donnie (Jr.) is the man. DA MAN. Tue, 17 May 2016 10:46:36 EST purging A little weekend update for my records. It's going to get a little intimate with some bodily functions if you would like to turn away now, I completely understand.

I feel like my body's going through a bit of a purge from forgoing sugar (mostly) since January. I've done well with it and am feeling so much better for it. Except...I'll talk about it in a minute after a few other points (I'll post one more warning before it starts). Sun, 15 May 2016 11:15:32 EST results As promised, I'm reporting my 6 month doctor results. I reported earlier that I see her quarterly but apparently my maths is no good. AnyWHO, I'm super pleased with my results and I'm taking copies of the results to seek further help from a more action-oriented, holistic doctor. I LOVE my doctor and will continue to see her but I'm ready to stray from traditional medicine a bit to seek the best me I can possibly achieve. I've seen much improvement with my physique, moods, and more but there's... Fri, 13 May 2016 21:16:24 EST sugah babababababum ahh honeyhoney Just a quick update. So, in January I gave up sweets. Mostly. I gave up the blatant sweets, that is. My triggers like baked goods, milk chocolate, etc. This was my version of weaning because I couldn't partake in those food items without wanting more. It's the nature of the sugar [beast]. I also knew that I could do more but felt like this was a good start for me thus my version of weaning.

Today I have a follow-up appointment with the doc and get my blood test results. Coincidentally, or not so coincidentally, I found that the things that drew my attention are healthy too. I got to sleep in 15 extra minutes since we're not carpooling this week. Our friend is at a nature camp with his grade this week. Come to think of it, I need to find out where they're doing their day hikes. I need to go crash it, err I mean, go be a chaperone. Best idea I've had all week! I knew there was a reason I liked ... Tue, 10 May 2016 10:34:25 EST shhh...don't tell I have a secret. I like when the husband is traveling or staying over for work.
