Fri, 20 Jun 2014 06:37:00 EST Camp Wannabefit - a new Spark Team, check it out! Hi friends. I want to let you know about a project a few of us have been working on for a couple months. We have selfishly combined what we think are the best parts of a few challenges we've participated in here on Spark. (So, thank you to all those great teams for the ideas.) And have built a challenge that is exactly what we want to be doing. LOL

We have found that it is a concept that others love too. The team is about 2/3 full without going public. But we are still looking for... Wed, 12 Mar 2014 13:36:02 EST Stopping Holiday Gain For this weekend's challenge we are to post a blog on how we will be stopping the dreaded Holiday Gain this year.

I plan on sticking to Dolvett's 3-1-2-1 Diet Plan, eating clean for 3 days, 1 cheat day (sticking to the high end of my calorie range and not overdoing it), 2 days of eating clean and 1 more cheat day. I also plan on incorporating his 48-minute exercise routine to keep torching those calories.

If I run into trouble I will text my friends for support and to ... Mon, 16 Dec 2013 11:43:33 EST How I've weathered the ups and downs I was not an overweight kid until I reached my early teens. I grew up on tv dinners and snack food. My Mom worked two jobs and was not a big cook so she would fill the pantry with cookies and snacks. The weight piled on over the years though I never felt fat or uncomfortable. The year before I got my drivers license I started walking everywhere and the weight came off. I stayed slim and discovered I enjoyed exercise though my food habits didn't get much better.

I never had any rea... Mon, 19 Aug 2013 21:46:11 EST Silver Spy Road Trip Scavenger Hunt We've had a wonderful time touring North Myrtle Beach SC, Mountain Lakes NJ, Narragansett RI, Plymouth MA and Plainville MA. I want to thank my awesome Silver Spies for all their hard work, never whining or complaining or giving excuses on why they can't exercise. If they they get off track with food they get right back on track the next day. I am so proud of the motivation and dedication of this team round after round.

This team never complains no matter what we challenge them with, if they are physically unable to do an exercise they will find a modification in order to complete the challenge. No one ... Mon, 11 Mar 2013 19:22:31 EST Letter to my 16 yr old self Where do I start, I remember so well the joy you are feeling this year. I wish I could tell you life will be as magical as it is this year but then that's not true life.

What I do want you to remember is your inner strength, remember no matter how bad it gets, you will get through it.

Remain true to yourself, ditch the fast food and take care of your back.

Love ya! Sun, 27 Jan 2013 23:16:09 EST Staying on track through the Holidays This year is a little different for me due to my new job. I'm used to co-workers and customers bringing goodies every day and having to resist. With the place I work now there is no food allowed in the office and I don't have any interaction with customers so this will be much easier on the scale for me.

I am still Streaking (exercising a minimum of 20 minutes 5-6x a week) and for the first time it has become a habit rather than forcing myself to exercise to keep my Streak. I plan... Sat, 24 Nov 2012 11:30:13 EST My 6 week BLC 20 check-up Revisiting my plan that I made 6 weeks ago for this round I'm very happy to say I'm at the lower end of my maintenance range. I've been very good at tracking my food on Spark, not 100% but closer to 90% and staying in range.

I've gotten rid of my twizzlers that was a food trigger, until my SIL sent some home with my DH, we'd left the bag at their house last summer. Ack! I've only had about 5 pieces in the last two weeks so I feel I'm in control.

I've also managed to sta... Sun, 23 Sep 2012 17:19:29 EST My BLC 20 Plan of attack Reaching maintenance doesn't mean I can now slack off. I've cut back on exercise from 60 minutes to 30 minutes. I still track my food in a written journal and have started tracking on Spark again.

My biggest downfall is sweets! I plan on purging my house once again of all my sweet triggers. I always feel physically awful after I indulge so why do it? I do very well with food during the week. I pre-pack all my lunches for the week ahead of time and I eat the same thing for breakfas... I plan to use our Summer Break to play around with my calories and exercise to find what works best for me.

I've been looking through my fitness magazines and see some interesting workouts that I want to try. Fri, 8 Jun 2012 19:14:56 EST My Plans for BLC Round 19 This is my first round of maintenance, at first I thought I could slack off a bit but sticking with my weekly BLC routine is what kept me from gaining weight so I plan to continue what I have been doing.

1. Track WW points daily
2. Drink 8 glasses of water daily (with my new job I'm finding this to be really hard)
3. So without further ado....

My transformation in health has been ongoing since my 20's. I was a skinny kid but a chubby teen although I never remember obsessing about my weight. I began walking in high school and lost those extra pounds. I started joining health clubs in my 20's not to lose weight but to stay toned, this was in the ear... Mon, 28 Nov 2011 19:58:50 EST Success #4 My success today is Blacking Out all 4 days of our Beach Blanket Bingo challenge! I know the day isn't finished but I've completed all my squares except for food and water...easy peasy! I certainly didn't expect to Blackout all 4 day,s today especially. I'm proud of myself for completing this challenge and thank you SEANDA for creating it! I may even keep the Butt Blasting workout in my rotation! Mon, 7 Nov 2011 18:23:58 EST Success #3 My success today is also a NSV. My hubby was telling me he was going to start doing some strength exercising and I asked him what he was thinking of. He said his arms, shoulders and legs, plus he wants to increase his lung capacity. As I was telling him he needs to exercise the bicep And tricep I raised my arm and touched my bicep...whoa Nellie, I stopped mid speech and couldn't believe I was feeling a muscle there! Ya Baby, these ST exercises are paying off!! Sun, 6 Nov 2011 16:49:49 EST Success #2 This is an easy blog today because my Success is getting the bonus points for Beach Blanket Bingo by filling the card! My goal was to cross off every square and I challenged a teammate to do the same. Being the competitive person that I am I plugged away all day getting all the ST and cardio done. I was crunched for time in the afternoon to get to the store and buy 4 new freggies that I hadn't tried before and also pick up salad fixing's to be sure I got my 5 freggies in for the day.
<... Sat, 5 Nov 2011 12:30:20 EST Blog about success #1 Since we have to do 4 blogs about success I'm going start by going way back about 16 years ago around 1995. I was in my late 30's and had gained weight (though I wasn't my heaviest till 10 years later) and decided to do something about it.

I cut out just about all fat from my diet, didn't count calories, carbs or protein. I would prepare separate meals for me and my family, I gave up some of my favorite foods (pizza) but ate other things that were fat free, gummy bears, peppermint... Fri, 4 Nov 2011 17:27:28 EST Recommitting to the 2nd half of BLC That's what we are supposed to write about anyhow. I don't believe I was ever not committed. When you're captain of a team and responsible for keeping 25 other people motivated and committed it's hard not to stay committed yourself as others are watching what you are doing.

Does that mean I am perfect and only eat healthy food and always stay in range? Does that mean I max points on every challenge? Does that mean I consistently lose weight each week? Hell no! Committed to me mean... Fri, 28 Oct 2011 12:33:32 EST I am NOT a blogger! 198 I am not a blogger! This is pushing me out of my comfort zone, I admire those that can blog every day, it's just not me. I'm a private person, maybe that's why I'm not a big fan of Facebook. I can chat away one on one but to expose myself for the world to see makes me cringe. Am I afraid of criticism? No, I welcome suggestions on how to improve. I don't like people knowing my I doing anything wrong? No, just living an ordinary, everyday life like most.
<... Fri, 1 Jul 2011 10:33:38 EST BLC SUMMER Challenge I am measuring my overall success to BLC Round 16. Even though I did not reach my goal of losing 10 lbs (why I keep setting 10 lbs as a goal I don't know, it's unrealistic for me) I don't feel like I've failed. As of today my total loss is 1.8 lbs, but I continue to try new ways and see what will work for me, I tweak things here and there and have had some failures and some successes. Losing my job of 24 years at the beginning of the round has been tough for me. I'm still struggling to find b... Fri, 15 Apr 2011 10:16:28 EST BLC NSV Goals My Non Scale Victory goals for the next 12 weeks of BLC are:
Nutrition - remain sugar free

Exercise - stay consistant with weight training and train for an 8k

Personal - Try to balance Spark and home life and exercise. Being Captain is time consuming but I love motivating people and enjoy leading a team, however it has cut into my time with hubby and my exercise time. I need to manage my time better which I hope will come after the first week of BLC Wed, 5 Jan 2011 09:54:00 EST One day of self-pity and the BIG push I am only going to feel sorry for myself today. We had to cancel our trip to Puerto Vallarta due to my Mother-In-Laws declining health, ultimately I know we made the right decision, but it’s not easy being at work today. This trip was planned with 5 co-workers whom are not here today, but on their way to Mexico. I also have to cover for one and try to keep up with his work and mine while he is lying on the beach sipping his margaritas.

I need to turn this into a positive experien... Tue, 9 Nov 2010 13:34:35 EST What the Heck! I just don't get it! My weight is not moving!! I have basically been the same since the end of last year, over 8 months ago. I have gone up and down a couple of pounds but that's it.

I started working with a trainer in February and STILL have not lost in weight or inches. I switched trainers a month ago and I really like her. She has taken my food tracker and told me I am eating very healthy but wanted me to up my calories and tweak my fat and protien percentages. She also pointed... Sun, 15 Aug 2010 09:49:40 EST Biggest Loser Challenge-13 Last year at this time I was within 6 lbs of my goal weight. I had total confidence that I would reach my goal. I had worked so hard for 2 years and I vowed not to slip back into old habits. I had co-workers who told me I had inspired them to get in shape, I had customers tell me how great I looked. Ahh, I was on top of the world. Then everything came to a screaching halt when I suffered a running injury. Nothing terribly serious but enough to sideline me for 6 weeks. It was long enough for m... Sat, 8 May 2010 13:39:02 EST I'm to afraid to look at the scale so my DH did it for me I have not stepped on the scale in over two months. I have been eating like there's no tomorrow and done very little exercise. After being within 6 lbs of my goal weight I thought it would be no problem reaching that goal. In May I received an injury from running and never got back into it. That was the beginning of my downfall. My clothes have been getting tighter and I've gone up 2 sizes, yikes!

I've not stepped on the scale to afraid of what I would see. I told my husband I wou... Wed, 18 Nov 2009 10:07:11 EST This is pretty cool if your a fan of Iron Chef America on the Food Network Last night on Iron Chef America the challenging chef was Chef Paul Virant. Chef Paul owns Vie, a restaurant in Western Springs, Illinois. My husband and I ate there two years ago for our anniversary and thought it was fantastic. It was pretty neat watching one of our favorite food shows knowing we had been to this chefs restaurant. The secret ingredient was pheasant and the Iron Chef was Morimoto.

My DH had told me he had a surprise for me on November 4th but refused to give me an... Mon, 2 Nov 2009 14:16:56 EST So frustrated with this injury I have done so well with running and being injury free...until now. Two weeks ago on Tuesday morning I do Cardio training with a trainer to help me improve my speed and endurance. I was on week 10 of a 12 week course and I was about 40 minutes into my interval training when I got a terrible pain in my right calf. I continued running for a few more minutes hoping it would go away. It only got worse so I had to stop my run and I finished the workout just walking slowly. I went home and iced rig... Sat, 20 Jun 2009 15:31:07 EST Run Wild That was the name of my 5k run last Saturday, it was a run through the zoo. There were 4 of my co-workers and 2 of their spouses running/walking with me. It was drizzling when we got there but had stopped by the start of the race. There was close to 1,000 runners, my daughter was not one of them . She didn't want to do it if she couldn't run and her DH was not being supportive. But they did come after the race with my grandson and we spent a few hours going through the zoo. I was not in top ... Mon, 18 May 2009 10:00:00 EST I blew it... We went to my BIL & SIL's country club for Easter brunch today. Buffet's have always been a problem for me, there is just so much wonderful food to try. My first trip through I did make good choices, I bypassed the sausage and bacon, cheesy hashbrowns, french toast, fried rice, breaded perch, etc. I filled my plate with a tossed salad with raspberry vinegarette, 3-bean salad, some kind of cranberry/orange salad, zucchini & squash mixture, a small lambchop, terryaki chiken with veges. The seco... Sun, 12 Apr 2009 18:40:27 EST Was that really me pushing away a piece of chocolate cake? Yesterday a coworker brought in a to die for chocolate cake. This cake had to weigh at least 5 pounds, it was so dense. She went on and on how this was THE BEST chocolate cake and said I should at least try a small piece. Now my problems begin when I have a "bite" of something sweet because I CANNOT stop at a couple of bites. I do much better at just refusing to eat sweets all together. I finally caved in and said ok, just a TINY piece. It ended up being a small piece but it had layers of cho... Thu, 9 Apr 2009 09:45:26 EST My 3rd 5K and a new PR I kept wavering on running this 5K, I just didn't feel ready and put off registering until the last minute. I have not been able to run a full 3 miles since my last 5K in December and then my time was 45:37. The forcast was originally calling for rain and I thought that would be my "out" I won't run in pouring rain. Wouldn't you know it they took the rain out till later in the day.

The temperature when we left the house was 33 and very windy. It was actually colder today then my o... Sun, 29 Mar 2009 00:18:12 EST Are the manufacturer's making us feel good? I have been wearing a size 10 for quite awhile now, though I still was hanging on to some size 12's. I frequently found myself hiking my pants up, even fresh out of the dryer and decided "MAYBE" I could be a size 8, though I sure didn't feel or think I looked like a size 8. So I went to my local Goodwill store (a great place to shop when you need new sizes and don't want to spend a ton of money on a new wardrobe) and took seven pairs of size 8's to the dressing room. The first pair I tried on... Sat, 14 Mar 2009 19:54:53 EST 2008's pitfalls and triumphs and embracing 2009 As I look back and compare my weight from this Christmas to last Christmas I'm within 1/2 pound of the same weight. Great if I was trying to maintain, but I wasn't. So do I consider 2008 to be a failure, hence myself to be a failure? NO!

First, I have to compare my numbers a little closer.
