I accomplished the goal I've had for almost 15 years.... I competed in not one, but two figure competitions! Although I didn't place top 5 like I hoped, I am extremely proud of myself for having the courage to get up on that stage. I have always been shy and somewhat insecure, so it was a pretty big deal for me to have the confidence to do that. I am soooo excited to hit the stage again this year! 30 My level of fitness has improved so mu... Tue, 1 Jan 2013 03:03:52 EST The effects of clean eating/Competition progress pics http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4987324 After my last competition I took 2 full months off. I still worked out 4-5 times/wk, but I reduced my cardio. (I did take almost 2 full weeks off from the gym completely during that time too.) The break was much needed by my body, but I was ready to get back into training mode by the end of the 2 months. I ate clean approx 75% of the time during that 2 months, but the one big indulgence I had waaaay too much of was wine. I love drinking wine, and that was the one thing I missed the most durin... Thu, 26 Jul 2012 05:10:54 EST If it is important to you... you will find a way. If it's not... you will find an excuse. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4925263 I had a friend ask for advice today... She is a mother of two beautiful children and she is a wife. She is beginning a new job as a preschool teacher this fall. Her dilemma is... she is wanting to train for a half marathon in Sept. but she feels torn because of her commitments to her family and new job. She likes how she feels when she runs, she feels good when she finishes a race, and she takes better care of herself while training by eating better among other things. So, I began thinking a... Wed, 13 Jun 2012 18:48:31 EST My First Figure Competition Pics http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4849035 So, I completed my first figure competition last weekend. I was soooooo nervous! I was ok until I hit the stage, then I felt like I was shaking, but apparently it wasn't as bad as I thought. My friends were in the front row behind the judges and they couldn't see me shaking. After watching the video I'm pretty pleased with myself. I looked pretty poised in the line up and my T walk went relatively well. I was so nervous that I couldn't remember if I actually did everything I was supposed to d... Mon, 23 Apr 2012 22:52:11 EST Competition 5 days out progress pics http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4836255 I can't believe I'm 5 days out! It's sort of surreal. It's always been this far-off in the distance goal and it's happening this Friday! I'm getting really nervous. I'm going to really give it all I've got this week. Here are this week's pics. (The black bikini pics are my "before" pics and red figure suit are current) I have a spray tan from a photo shoot I did yesterday, so I'm not so pasty white. Yay for your eyes! LOL Now I've got to scrub it all off by Thursday so I can get my comp spray... Sun, 15 Apr 2012 15:58:17 EST Competition 19 days out! My freakout moment and progress pics. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4815210 Okay, I am now 19 days out from my first figure competition and I have sort of been freaking out the past couple of days. Several things are contributing to this... 1) I received my custom figure suit, and although I really like the suit...it is really skimpy! I have never worn anything quite that tiny out in public before. Generally I don't have body issues. My body's not perfect, but I'm comfortable in my own skin...and that's all that matters. I have no problem wearing a bikini at the pool... Sun, 1 Apr 2012 15:39:22 EST Competition less than 5 weeks out! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4799080 Okay, I know I've been MIA from spark recently. I have been sooooo busy with competition training, food prep, and just life in general. So I thought I would post some progress pics from last weekend. These are 5 weeks out. I am beginning my cutting diet this week, so hopefully I'll start shedding this extra fat. I'm still waiting on my custom suit, but I have a temporary one for the time being. I am working on my posing too. Getting much better, but still have some work to do.

Blac... Thu, 22 Mar 2012 00:54:43 EST Competition 9 weeks out and counting... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4742287 Well, I've been super busy lately so I've been MIA from Sparkpeople, but I have been hitting it hard in the gym and following my competition diet. Thought I would post some updated pics. These are from last Saturday (9 weeks out). I'm happy with the results I'm seeing and so is Ruben. Weight at time of pics was 129.2 (up 1/2 pound from starting pics). Further proof that the scale doesn't matter. Still working on my posing. I've scheduled my tanning and I am ordering my suit this week. So exci... Thu, 16 Feb 2012 18:20:34 EST Competition - 12 weeks out! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4713579 I've been super busy lately and didn't have a chance to post pics last week and I'll keep this short and sweet. I'm still doing a lean bulk before I start cutting. Diet and training are going well and I have received all positive comments from Ruben. Here are this week's pics. I am starting my attempts at posing. The first pics are my "before" pics followed by this week's progress pics. Weight 128.4

Front:
<BR... Tue, 31 Jan 2012 02:26:02 EST Week 3 Competition training complete! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4688325 Completed week 3. Was spot-on on diet and water again, and I had a good week in the gym. Ruben gave me good reviews on my last week's progress pics...he said I got smaller in areas that need to shrink (upper thighs), grew where I need to grow (delts) and he said my butt was lifted a remarkable amount for one week's time. He also had good things to say about this week's pics...smaller upper thigh, hips smaller and my tear drops are developing nicely in my lower quads to balance my upper quads.... Wed, 18 Jan 2012 04:27:41 EST Week 2 Figure competition training...14 weeks to go! :) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4665098 Had a good week of training. Really hit it hard. Followed the diet perfectly, adding a couple of extra "meals" on my long 21 hour days at work. Drank all of my water. I have had some massive cravings for sweets this week...Ugh...but I haven't cheated at all. I'm determined to do this! It makes it easier to avoid temptation when you have a deadline for a goal. Overall I feel pretty good. Ruben increase my calories this week from last week which helped tremendously. He also gave me good feedbac... Sat, 7 Jan 2012 22:25:34 EST Week 1 Figure Comp training...15 weeks to go! :) (progress pics) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4652445 Well, I completed week 1 of my figure competition training/diet. I was spot-on on my diet and water intake. We are still tweaking diet a little. Because I work 12 hour overnight shifts some of my "days" are 21 hours long from the time I wake until I sleep again. So, I had to adjust and add extra meals to those days. That helped tremendously. I wasn't as happy with myself in the gym. Some of the exercises were new to me, so it was trial and error figuring out what weight to use and I was still... Mon, 2 Jan 2012 20:58:58 EST It's official! I'm doing my first figure competition April 2012! (before pics included) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4620907 I begin training for my first figure competition (April 2012) immediately after Christmas. I have hired Ruben (FlexChef) and his team FTBIYK for my nutrition/training program. I have seen his results from other clients and I trust his approach and I feel he makes competition prep as healthy as possible, which is important to me. Taking his advice I will be doing a 16 week prep of a 4-6 week lean bulk, followed by a 10-12 week cutting phase.

I'm so freaking nervous! I've talked abo... Sun, 11 Dec 2011 02:53:30 EST I'm still here - with progress pics :) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4173254 Well as some of you may know I haven't been as active on Spark lately. I still check in almost every day, but I haven't been as active on threads and commenting on blogs as I used to be. I am currently going through a divorce, I had to move, and a lot of other adjustments to deal with over the past few months. So I haven't had the time to be as active on here as I like. Just because I haven't been as active on Spark lately, does not mean I have given up on my fitness or nutrition goals. Quite... Mon, 18 Apr 2011 02:02:14 EST Why I've been away from Sparkpeople - STRESS! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4017755 A couple of you have sent me messages asking how I am doing reaching my goals because I announced at the first of the year I was going to do my first figure competition in July. Well, shortly after my announcement I discovered my husband of 5 1/2 years had been having an affair for 4 months. Needless to say, my world has come crashing down. I am heartbroken. We have since separated, our daughter and I have moved to a place across town, and we are going through counseling to see if our marriag... Mon, 14 Feb 2011 19:03:20 EST RMC Pics (Ugh! Those Christmas Yum-Yums!) and 2011 Goals http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3871987 Well, I am back. I have not posted a blog or pics for the past 2 weeks. I went out of state for my grandmother's funeral 2 weeks ago, and last week was Christmas. So I sort of took the whole week off to do Christmas stuff. While I was in Iowa for the funeral, I figured out where I get my sweet tooth - my Danish heritage! In the land of the Danes, all there is to eat is junk! Danishes, cakes, cookies, etc. Seriously! At the lunch after the funeral there was one tiny section of lunch meat and r... Thu, 30 Dec 2010 14:09:16 EST RMC Week 1 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3838236 Well, I don't see any major changes. I didn't really expect to. I am down 1.9 pounds, and I feel like my waist is a little tighter. This is no surprise because it is always the first place that tightens up on me.

What I did accomplish this week:
I did 3 kettlebell workouts and 1 INSANITY workout this week.
I drank 10+ cups of water each day - still less than a gallon/day, but I am working on it.
I ate pretty clean, no major indulges.
Logged all foods and workou... Sat, 11 Dec 2010 16:26:04 EST Rachel Mac Challenge "before" pics http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3826700 So I decided to join the Rachel Mac Progress Picture Challenge. I am a big fan of taking progress pics, but I have NEVER posted them for anyone to see. They always go straight to a private folder on my computer for my eyes only. I keep them as a reference, to see where I've been, take note of what I want to improve, and to remind myself that even though I may not notice a difference when I look in the mirror, I am making progress and keeping myself healthy. This is really hard for me because... Mon, 6 Dec 2010 02:41:25 EST Staying on track and pushing myself http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3511469 I have been so busy this summer! I have been working a TON of overtime at work, doing projects around the house, and trying to spend as much quality time with my daughter as I possibly can because I have been working so much. Work has been INSANELY busy! I am exhausted after my 12 hour shifts. Although I have not been that active on Spark lately, I have been consistent with my workouts. About a month ago I dusted off my home gym and started seriously weight training again and doing INSANITY w... Sat, 7 Aug 2010 02:10:00 EST My hiatus is OVER! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3330512 Well I've decided my hiatus from working out is officially over! We went camping this weekend with my family and after seeing pics of myself in a bikini I have found my motivation again. I'm so mad at myself. I have worked out consistently for a year, so a month before I know I have to be in a bikini I stop working out?! Why do I do stuff like that? I know it doesn't matter what I look like to anyone else. They are my family and they don't care, but I just hate being uncomfortable in my own s... Sun, 13 Jun 2010 19:24:46 EST P90X - Week 1 (Round 2) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3237175 I did pretty well my first week back to P90X. I substituted an ab workout from Oxygen magazine for one of the Ab Ripper X workouts. I just don't care for ARX very much. I like to vary things more, I get bored doing the same workout 3 days/week. I also missed Yoga X (of course), but I did do an extra home glute/hamstring/ab workout to make up for it. I really love Yoga X, but it is so long. It is really hard to find 90 minutes to myself at home. My 2 year old doesn't understand that "Mommy ne... Mon, 17 May 2010 02:26:05 EST P90X - Day 2 (Round 2) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3219142 Today was Plyo X day. Since I just finished INSANITY last week, this workout seemed pretty lame compared to it. So I really pushed myself, I jumped as high as I could, squatted low, and tried to do the advanced moves throughout most of it. By the end I really did get a good workout! A total of 505 kcals burned! I was a little stiff and sore from yesterday's Chest and Back workout, but I feel a lot looser now that I did today's workout. Tomorrow is Shoulders & Arms and ARX. Bring it!
<em... Tue, 11 May 2010 16:42:04 EST P90X - Day 1 (Round 2) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3216106 I am doing this round with a friend who is very fit. She runs half-marathons and stuff, but she has never really strength trained. I am anxious to see how she did with today's workout. It is exciting to have someone to be accountable to and to help me keep on track. She lives far away so we are keeping each other motivated via the internet and phone, but I am excited because I have never had a workout buddy before. I have always gone it alone when it comes to weight training.

Toda... Mon, 10 May 2010 21:50:44 EST The Plan: Focus and Bust Through that Plateau! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3190398 Well I am in my last week of the INSANITY program. I have really enjoyed it. It has really pushed me to push myself. Although I think my body is ready for a break. I love training high intensity, but it definitely is not something I can maintain forever. So I think I am going to do a round of P90X again. I'm not really that excited about it, but I have a friend that is going to do it with me. Hopefully we will keep each other motivated. She has never weight trained before, so I am excited for... Mon, 3 May 2010 17:40:38 EST Week 1 of INSANITY completed! :) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3001321 Well, I have started week 2 of INSANITY. Oh my gosh, this workout program is by far the most intense one I have ever done! I have pushed myself hard in the past doing HIIT or weightlifting to failure, but not on a daily basis. I am really liking this program so far 1) because the workouts are short and sweet, but totally effective (which is how I like to workout) 2) because it is really challenging for me, and I like to be challenged and 3) because I think this will help me accomplish some of... Mon, 15 Mar 2010 10:20:20 EST Phase 3 P90X & clean eating recap http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2791057 Today I begin Phase 3 of P90X. I really took my recovery week off last week. I did do Yoga X once and I did abdominal workouts featured in Oxygen 2 times, but other than that I really didn't do any formal workouts. I don't really care for the recovery week workouts. I did get "caught up" on sleep a little bit and I stayed busy doing other things. I took my weight, body fat %, measurements and pictures again. I am very pleased. Here are my stats:

----Pre P90X--... Sun, 24 Jan 2010 19:50:29 EST P90X & Clean eating update http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2739413 34 Well I am in week 3 of Phase 2 of P90X. I have had really good workouts so far this week! I even did Yoga X today! 416 (I think it's been about 5 weeks since I last did yoga) I am determined to get all of my workouts in this week. Next week is my recovery week, and then I start Phase 3! I am trying to decide what to do after I complete round 1 of P90X. I am thinking about doing a round of INSANITY, but I haven't decided for sure. I want to see what results I have achie... Sat, 2 Jan 2010 23:44:04 EST P90X Phase 2 - Day 2 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2663454 Plyo X day! I was very tired today, but I did my workout anyway! Yay me! A total of 518 kcals burned! 30 Mon, 28 Dec 2009 22:51:31 EST P90X - Phase 2 Day 1 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2659851 I restarted Phase 2 today because I got off schedule due to the holidays. I did Chest/Shoulders/Triceps/Ab Ripper X. I really pushed myself and increased my weight but lowered my reps. I am back on track! A total of 455 kcals burned, and protein shake consumed! Another awesome workout! 224 Sun, 27 Dec 2009 20:49:20 EST P90X - Restarting phase 2 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2658062 Ok, so I completely "fell off the wagon" this week with diet and exercise. So I have decided to start fresh and restart phase 2 beginning tomorrow. It will push back my finish date for P90X, but that is OK. I was soooooo busy this week with family, baking, work, Christmas shopping, etc. that I was literally running around trying to finish it all. I just have one small get-together left on Wednesday, so I should definitely be able to make exercise a priority again. I am deciding to start at t... Sun, 27 Dec 2009 01:58:28 EST P90X - Day 39 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2646695 Today was Back/Biceps day! 85 I had a great workout! I increased my weight on almost all of my bicep curls, and I am using a lot less assistance from my chair on pull-ups. I didn't have time to do Ab Ripper X before work, so I will do it tomorrow. A total of 393 kcals burned, protein shake consumed! Bring it! Sun, 20 Dec 2009 20:48:04 EST P90X - Day 38 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2645095 Yesterday was my rest day this week. Today was Plyo X day! I felt very sluggish at first, but about 20 minutes in I got my second wind and had an awesome workout! A total of 503 kcals burned! Sat, 19 Dec 2009 22:28:36 EST P90X - Day 36 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2641653 Today was Chest/Shoulders/Triceps/Ab Ripper X day. I love working this combo! I did skip Yoga X yesterday and I indulged in cookies and my famous Pumpkin Spice Cake topped with sinful cream cheese frosting! 4 (Thank goodness I only make it at Christmas time) That is 2 weeks in a row I haven't done Yoga X. 24 I just didn't have time (again). I promised my 2 year old I would take her to see Santa, so being "Mom" came first. HOPEFULLY, after the holidays things will slow d... Fri, 18 Dec 2009 00:55:02 EST P90X - Day 34 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2636470 Today was Legs/Back/Ab Ripper X day. I was really tired. I only got about 5 hours sleep, and it was interrupted multiple times. I decided to go ahead and give it a try. I'm glad I did, by the end of the workout I found my energy and I was really pushing it! A total of 480 kcals burned, protein shake consumed, another successful workout! 224 Tue, 15 Dec 2009 20:07:52 EST P90X - Day 33 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2634109 I did Kenpo X today instead of Yoga X due to time constraints. I will do Yoga X on Wednesday instead when I don't have to work. An hour and a half workout is hard to fit in the same day as a 12 hour shift. My 2 year old had fun doing the workout with me. She was punching with me while wearing her "princess dress" and shoes. 30 A total of 381 kcals burned! Another great workout! 216 Mon, 14 Dec 2009 21:04:53 EST P90X - Day 32 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2632001 Today was Back/Biceps/Ab Ripper X day. 85 I technically did my workout starting at midnight on day 33 (and I am logging my kcals on day 33), but I did complete the workout. We got home late from looking at Christmas lights. (Which involved walking up and down hills for about an hour and a half, so I don't feel guilty for doing my P90X a little bit late) I liked this workout. I have always loved working biceps. I am still working on doing a pull-up unassisted, but I am confident in t... Mon, 14 Dec 2009 03:58:07 EST P90X - Day 31 Results http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2629736 I made yesterday my rest day this week, so today was Plyo X day. A great workout and a total of 514 kcals burned!
I am going to take my 30 day pictures tomorrow and compare them to my day 1 pics. I doubt I will be courageous enough to post them on SparkPeople. (Maybe when I complete the program.) I did take my weight, measurements, and BF % today. Although my weight has remained the same, my body fat and several of my measurements did go down! I do feel like I have "toned up". For insta... Sat, 12 Dec 2009 23:51:34 EST P90X - Day 29 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2625599 I began phase 2 today! I missed my workout yesterday (Yoga X). 234 I don't know how well I liked having a "recovery week". My body did enjoy the break, but I felt like I lost my momentum. I tend to be an "all or nothing" type of person. My nutrition was way off this week and I missed 2 workouts! 198 I did make up the X Stretch workout, and I am going to try to make up Yoga X on my next rest day. What's done is done, and now I am looking forward Phase 2! I have always bee... Thu, 10 Dec 2009 21:02:16 EST P90X - Day 27 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2620086 Well I missed my workout yesterday and went way over my Calorie range. 39 This is the first time I've missed a day since I started the program. I did make it up today by doing Core Synergistics and then making up X Stretch immediately following. I guess it's not that big of deal, the X Stretch isn't a huge Calorie burner. I just don't want to get off track and start slacking off. I always seem to do that. I start making progress, then I get lazy and start missing workouts and sabota... Tue, 8 Dec 2009 17:47:13 EST P90X - Day 25 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2615442 Today was Kenpo X day. Great workout! A total of 388 kcals burned! Bring it! I had a sick 2 year old to take care of. Today (Day 24) was Core Synergistic day. This is the first time I did this workout. Even though it was not as intense as other workouts in this program it was still a good workout. A total of 420 kcals burned! Another successful workout! 224 Sat, 5 Dec 2009 19:30:46 EST P90X - Day 22 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2608329 Today was the first day of my first recovery week. It was Yoga X day! Although I love this workout, I was really tired. Even though my heart wasn't completely into it, I did complete it. Yay me! 224 Hopefully I will have more energy tomorrow. I weighed myself today, and I have not lost any weight. I feel like I have toned up some, but it is still frustrating not seeing the scale move. 24 I am planning on taking pictures, measurements, and body fat % again at day 30. Hope...
