Mon, 21 Jul 2014 21:58:07 EST Surprise!

Molly and I didn't walk to church today because we did the 5k late last night. Or so I thought..

Rich and I went to church and he said that he wanted to go out for lunch as usual afterward. We stopped for gas, then headed to Lee's, our fav Chinese restaurant. As we pulled up, we saw Mike and Terry, friends of ours from church. Lee's and Sizzlers are the 2 restaurants that our church family frequents, so... Sun, 20 Jul 2014 23:17:22 EST Another shorty Today Rich and I hit some garage sales (I bought a couple of pair of running shoes and a couple of sweaters for fall) then went to a luau for my work picnic. Tonight Molly and I did the Bright Night run complete with glow necklaces, bracelets and tiaras. We made our bet time with 38 minutes for 5k, so 12.25mph! 244 Sun, 20 Jul 2014 01:05:01 EST I will NEVER be this fit!
Fri, 18 Jul 2014 12:06:36 EST To pooped to participate! Now I have 10 minutes before my 9pm bedtime.

Will blog more tomorrow, right now I am

Thu, 17 Jul 2014 23:51:16 EST One of THOSE days.. You know the ones... those that you just don't want to do Anything. Yeah, even super-achiever me has them.

I got up at 4:50am and fed the animals, then checked in at the office before heading to the gym. Molly didn't want to do too much cardio after overdoing it yesterday, and frankly, neither did I. So the elliptical got only 20minutes today.

<img src=" Mon, 14 Jul 2014 23:13:53 EST Busy Weekend, but got my steps in! Yesterday was THE major Show and Shine of the weekend. Molly and I picked up 40# of ice then went over to the park to set up. I sat in the sun most of the day rather than under the canopy, because I enjoy it. Our good friends showed up, then Rich came by for a while. I thoroughly enjoyed the quiet when I was 'alone' though. I read half a book while there.

When I got home I walked around the loop which is 5 miles.

This am, I did my usual 10k (6.2miles) to church, then Ri... Wed, 9 Jul 2014 12:51:10 EST Influencing others

I was just reading a post where a wife was concerned about her husband's diet and his knee-jerk responses to her lifestyle changes. Saturday we had the 10th annual "Run for Ohm" which is a 5k/10k for cancer treatment at our cancer center. Molly and I walk, we don't run, but this is our 2nd year participating. It starts at a lovely park and meanders a loop out in the country before returning to the park. There is a 5k walk/run and a 10k run. I couldn't find the shoes that I bough specifically for my 5ks so I wore another pair of comfy shoes. I love my Rykas, but have found that l... Mon, 23 Jun 2014 10:17:43 EST Meeting sparkfriends Yesterday I decided to travel down to Grants Pass for work today, so I put a shout out to the Southern Oregon team about walkers. Thu, 19 Jun 2014 23:20:04 EST It took a great deal of self-discipline... ...but I only did 30 minutes at the gym today! I so wanted to do more! I also used the elliptical, though I wanted to walk. I figured after my back episode, I needed to start off with no impact and a short session, so I did. And I feel great! I ended up with about 9k steps today.

Tomorrow, back to the treadmill, then probably an outside walk in the afternoon.

Wed, 18 Jun 2014 22:09:56 EST Visiting with my daughter and family Before we left for Michigan, Rich told the grandchildren that they could either pick out their birthday gifts while were over there or they could all go in together for one large gift. They immediately started plotting how they could get us to buy them a trampoline. After an initial "no way", we told them that it would only be ok IF they had an enclosure and IF they would never have more than one person on it at a time. The deal was made. Our timing was perfect, too, as it was delivered 2 day... Tue, 17 Jun 2014 15:21:41 EST Busy, active day I got up at 5:30am and walked over the mountain to church (6.24 miles). Eating out is not an excuse to overeat, however, it may be a REASON if you don't know the nutrition facts behind your restaurant choices. Virtually every restaurant posts their nutrition facts online and if we want to succeed in our quest for health, we need to research these facts. In fact, it may surprise you to know that most often a steak will be lower in calories than a salad!
