I'm not reading articles, participating in teams, tracking, or anything to help with my program.

I'm doing it all for points. I reached my goal weight in March of 2008. It took me a year to get there. I hit several plateaus along the way but never gave up. I was determined I would make it this time, and I did.
104
Once I hit goal I maintained within a 7 pound range for about a year and a half. It wasn’t easy. Tue, 4 Mar 2014 13:54:45 EST Spark break over http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5602117 Mini Break over.

I took a Spark Break the last week and a half. I was feeling frustrated by the neck and upper back pain, which had returned with a vengeance. I was preoccupied with how miserable I felt and did a lot of comfort eating. My exercise plan suffered in that I was doing no strength exercises at all and doing less cardio than usual. My heart wasn’t in it when I Sparked so I decided to pull back for a little bit while I took care of me. I did minimal Sparking, only r... It made me curious about other odd things that are dropped on New Year's Eve.

My search turned up a list of things that are dropped, and Pennsylvania has the longest list, with New York coming in second.

This is Pennsylvania's list -

Allentown, Pennsylv... (pictures) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5572963 446
Several years ago we changed the way we do Christmas. Christmas shopping had become too much about how much to spend, what should we buy, would it fit?, would they like it?, would it need to be returned? It really wasn't fun. Plus, we're on fixed incomes (it's my Mom, DH, and me) so spending a lot on gifts didn't make sense.

What started as a practical solution has turned into a lot of fun. Mon, 2 Dec 2013 10:02:47 EST Updates http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5546173 Cosmo and Henry -

They seem to be getting back to their normal routines. The first few days after we lost Bravy they were quieter than usual, less playing with each other, and I'd catch them looking around for Bravy or appearing to be waiting for him to come, at mealtimes for instance. The past few days they're doing better, back to playing with each other, wrestling and chasing each other, like they normally do. I haven't seen them looking around like they were.

Bra... Wed, 20 Nov 2013 13:38:37 EST Kitties mourning loss of feline companion http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5541869 It always surprises me the way kitties respond to the loss of a feline companion. Tuesday, the day after Bravy died, Henry sat beside Bravy's bed like he was waiting for him to come and get in. He was still sitting there about half an hour later when I checked on him. He and Bravy used to take turns using that bed so I patted the bed and told him it was OK, he could get in. What started as a one week streak resulted in my regaining control of my out of control junk food habit.
224
Over the past month I’ve allowed myself to have the occasional junk food, usually potato chips or a sweet. I challenged myself to go one week without junk food. I did that easily so added a second week, taking me to a two day visit from my Mom. I figured I’d never get through her visit without junk since she loves dessert and we always go shopping and buy candy at the checkout. I told her what I had been doing and she didn’t want to break my streak, so we bought no candy and dessert was ... I then did my core exercises off and on through the day. I think I'll do that again, it made doing strength exercises less boring. It really does feel good, physically and mentally to eat healthy. I followed my menu, the only thing extra was a little cheese at dinner. It did put me over 1000 calories but not by much. I exercised – did ABBA walk in the morning and Wii Tennis in the afternoon for a total of 40+ minutes.
104

I plan to do it again today – (Potluck Day)

B – oat bran/juice
L – tomato soup/black beans
D – peach oatmeal
S –... Started the day OK, but gave in to a cashew temptation and went crazy, snacking away on them. That set me up to mess up at dinner and after. Had planned on fish and peas for dinner, ended up having pizza. Didn’t enjoy it, wasn’t our usual choice. Then when we we... Mon, 29 Oct 2012 10:44:23 EST Fall/Holiday Plan http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5112369 I am so terrible at blogging, I'm so inconsistent. I do a daily "accountability" letter to myself, offline, critiquing the previous day and planning the day ahead. It's the first thing I do when I get on the computer. Later, when I get to Spark I don't feel like blogging.

Part of this morning's letter -

465 Fall/Holiday Game Plan 465

Starting Friday, 10/26 -

Food Journal and -

Friday/Saturday – 1... Thu, 25 Oct 2012 11:28:19 EST No more scheduled free days http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5084929 Today is a fresh start. New month, revamped program. The main change – no scheduled free days, they don’t work for me. The 5 day challenges followed by a free day was not a good plan. I did good for those 5 days, but no matter how well I thought I planned for the free days, messed up big time every time. So no more.

I’m going back to what worked in the past –

Make healthy choices most of the time.
No pre scheduled “off” days
Food journal most days for no... Mon, 17 Sep 2012 10:03:28 EST Final treatment celebration http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5037243 My Mom had her last radiation treatment yesterday. She said when she came out into the lobby the staff was all lined up and they read what she described as a "happy poem" to her. There was a big bell hanging on the wall, she was told to ring it three times, then they all threw confetti on her ! She said confetti was still falling out of her hair this morning when she got up !
She sounded so happy on the phone, laughing and I could tell smiling widely, as she told me. I think it's fa... Thu, 30 Aug 2012 10:26:18 EST To my Unhealthy Self, 8/26 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5032983 August 26, 2012

Dear Unhealthy me,

I looked in the mirror this morning and studied my reflection. I did not like what I saw. I’ve regained pounds that I lost more than 4 years ago and it definitely shows. I don’t look as healthy or happy as I was when I first lost the weight. I also know that clothes that were loose before are snugger now. I’m not happy about this, haven’t been for some time. This is not new, I’ve just been dragging my feet getting back on the heal... Mon, 27 Aug 2012 10:44:52 EST Finally getting back in the groove http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5031578 Rough couple of weeks. Had a sinus infection with a constant headache and face pain that prevented me from exercising. I also gave in to comfort eating, naughty, naughty me. I'm finally feeling better, the headache is now only minimal and the face pain/pressure is gone. YAY ! I've restarted my exercise and yesterday got back to the healthy eating. It's been hit and miss. I'm surprised how much I missed regular exercise, it feels so good to get back to it. Did my ABBA walk yesterday an... Sun, 26 Aug 2012 11:25:57 EST
