I lost that 40 pounds slowly over a year, reaching goal in early 2008.

Over the years life got in the way and being an emotional eater I ate back about 12 pounds of the 40 I lost. I've been trying to lose some of that regained weight for quite a while now. I lose a few, relax my efforts and regain it. Frustrati... Sat, 12 Mar 2016 12:51:35 EST Just had to share this http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6108393 Last Wednesday, February 24, an F2 tornado hit a small Amish town in Pennsylvania, damaging 50-60 homes and farms. Within 24 hours more than 500 volunteers, both Amish and English, began the cleanup and rebuild. Twenty women prepared food at the firehouse to feed the volunteers. One home that had lost its roof had a new one within 24 hours. A schoolhouse was destroyed in the storm and rebuilt by the weekend.

As of today more than 3000 community volunteers have worked to clean a... The first few days after we lost Bravy they were quieter than usual, less playing with each other, and I'd catch them looking around for Bravy or appearing to be waiting for him to come, at mealtimes for instance. The past few days they're doing better, back to playing with each other, wrestling and chasing each other, like they normally do. I haven't seen them looking around like they were.

Bra... Tuesday, the day after Bravy died, Henry sat beside Bravy's bed like he was waiting for him to come and get in. He was still sitting there about half an hour later when I checked on him. He and Bravy used to take turns using that bed so I patted the bed and told him it was OK, he could get in. Sat, 1 Jun 2013 10:00:21 EST Better ! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5351925 30
I took the extra turmeric for about 5 days and it seems to have helped. The flare has settled down a lot. I'm back to taking my regular dose now. I'm also back to my daily exercise, not pushing it too much yet, but I'm going to start increasing it in the next few days.
224 Fri, 10 May 2013 09:57:34 EST If it's not one thing it's another ! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5344290 Friday, May 03, 2013

I can’t get a break !
198

First the MVP acts up and I feel yucky, now the back is acting up. Geez ! The pain has been worse lately, but the past few days have been nasty. The turmeric doesn’t seem to be working as well as before. It usually takes the edge off, doesn’t make me completely comfortable, but makes it more bearable. Lately, not so much. I switched to a different formula that had worked well before, but even that ... Fri, 3 May 2013 11:11:16 EST Much Better ! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5327385 Definitely getting back to my normal routine. I've been exercising every day, mostly elliptical and walking. The heart pounding is much better, I'm not quite as tired, less winded. Guess I really do need the higher dose of med. Darn.
20

Had a nice day at my Mom's last week. We sinned for dinner, went out for a fattening meal - I had a chicken cheesesteak and some fries. It was delicious ! I rarely eat that way, so I enjoy it and never feel guilty. As... Thu, 18 Apr 2013 09:39:16 EST Almost there ! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5319425 41
Slowly but surely I'm getting there ! The increased med is kicking in. The heart pounding has lessened, I'm sleeping better. Still tiring fast but not as quickly as earlier in the week.

I haven't done any scheduled exercise yet, but did store walk Monday and yesterday. Monday I was exhausted when I got home but yesterday I was just a little tired. Nice !

Today we're headed to my Mom's for the day. That's a long drive so I'll probably be pooped... Thu, 11 Apr 2013 09:27:06 EST Still not there yet http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5315593 102
Rested most of the weekend. Did do some walking on Saturday that left me winded. I thought I'd be ready to start some walking today, but nope, not yet. Still have the pounding, get winded easy, tire fast. I've been on the higher dose of med since Friday. It is a little better - I was more comfortable when I went to bed last nite. So I'm going to play it by ear with the exercise and take it a day at a time. The doc did say that I might not notice improvement until l... Mon, 8 Apr 2013 09:41:22 EST Finally caught up to me so I'm taking a "me" weekend http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5312806 198
I've been having a rough couple of weeks, thanks to my darn mitral valve prolapse. It's been in good control for at least 9 years, but last week symptoms started to return - pounding heart beat, short of breath, extra tired. It started gradually and I thought it would subside, but the past 2-3 days it's been almost constant. Uncomfortable, but not life threatening. I knew what it was because it's happened before so I wasn't alarmed, and I hate to complain.
<BR... Fri, 5 Apr 2013 15:42:41 EST Fun with yesterday's strength exercises! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5301743 I don't really like doing strength exercises so I tried something different yesterday. In the morning for my lower body I did 15" of the barre routine from my SparkPeople DVD. In the afternoon for my upper body I did 15" of Wii Sports Resort swordplay. That was a blast ! I then did my core exercises off and on through the day. I think I'll do that again, it made doing strength exercises less boring. Maybe next time I'll try boxing for the upper body.
104 Wed, 27 Mar 2013 09:15:12 EST I resisted ! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5292603 224
Score one for me !

My husband and I went shopping at our local grocery store, the one with the great bakery, and I resisted temptation ! We did not even go thru the bakery, I steered the cart away !

We didn't buy any goodies, even though we were in the cookie aisle. My husband was eyeing a few but didn't say anything.

Now, I just have to keep doing this.
104 Tue, 19 Mar 2013 15:29:41 EST 5 Years at Goal Today !!! Mon, 11 Mar 2013 09:16:42 EST Starting Spark Coach today http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5272529 I'm starting Spark Coach today (3 months free because I bought the new Spark book). I'm using the plateau busting program. I was doing good on my own but lost my momentum again.

I’m doing this for myself.
I want to be as healthy as I can be as I age.
I want to feel as good as I did when I was maintaining in the mid 150 range, not the low 160's where I've been hovering for too long.

Think before you eat.
Remind yourself how good it felt when you we...
