I was feeling slightly guilty about my lack of incentive, so I set the timer for a 15 minute burst to see what I could get done.

First I stared 4 eggs to hard boil.

Then I made a treat for my older cat. She doesn't drink enough water on her own, so I mixed a spoonful of canned Hormel White and Dark meat Turkey with half a cup warm water and served Her Majesty.

Then I took half a teaspoon of baking soda, half a cap of hydrogen peroxide, and a s... Sun, 20 Jul 2014 17:23:48 EST Dining out. Long day yesterday, so we went out for supper last night at the local Mexican restaurant.

It was after 7 when we arrived, and we didn't expect it to be as busy as it was on a weeknight. Normally they are very fast with your food and you don't wait long at all, but last night there was a big party of 15-20 people ahead of us.

They served our complimentary chips and three bowls of dips, 2 different salsas and one bowl of cheese dip. We ate all of it before we had even pla... Thu, 17 Jul 2014 17:02:54 EST Fighting the good fight. My appetite peaks at the end of the day. I would like it to stop doing that because I spend a lot of time in the evening obsessing about food.

Last night for supper, I had a turkey/bacon/avocado sandwich with a 5 veggie salad. It was delicious and one of my favorite meals. After supper, I had a snack of a banana with Smucker's Natural creamy peanut butter. I mention the brand name because it is so good. Try it, you'll see. Then I sprinkled almond granola on top for a nice crunch. ... Wed, 16 Jul 2014 12:09:02 EST Pickles I'm good all day. I get late night snack attacks though.

Last night I was snooping in the fridge for a low cal snack and I came upon an almost empty jar of pickles in the back. The label read spicy bread and butter, but to my surprise it was a crazy experiment mixed up by my boyfriend. It was a blend of dill and bread and butter pickles. It was a little gross, but only 40 calories so I'm in! Tue, 15 Jul 2014 20:10:58 EST Trade-off Busy day today! May not have time for a workout so I will have to compensate by eating fewer calories. That's the trade off isn't it? Technically, I could count things like cleaning and gardening as exercise, but I don't. I just don't get my heart pumping like I would need to if I was seriously going to count it. I will just eat a little bit less and drink extra water tonight and everything will be fine.

Mon, 14 Jul 2014 19:42:27 EST Anybody got a cattle prod? I wish I didn't have to push myself to want to exercise.

I have always bee a sedentary person. Never liked sports. Never liked competition. As a kid I hated gym class. Hated running laps. Hated to do push ups and sit ups. Didn't go out for any team sports. In PE, I was often the last one or two picked for teams and eventually I just refused to participate and got sent to the principal's office.

I'm artsy. I'm craftsy. I like to read and listen to music. I like watching m... Sun, 13 Jul 2014 12:33:09 EST Friday funsies. Dreary day today.

But it brightened up when I had lunch at the Tea Garden with my mom and 3 of my aunts! The restaurant is only a block from work, so I just walked down and met up with everyone. The Tea Garden has a short entree menu which is served with a cup of the soup of the day (today was cheesy vegetable), jello salad, and a baby cinnamon roll. This is the entree selection:

Chicken a la King
Turkey sandwich on Focaccia
Bacon Quiche
Summer salad plate... Fri, 11 Jul 2014 23:31:13 EST Work Shirt I have been wearing a men's 3x polo shirt to work and it has been getting baggier and baggier. Yesterday, I realized the sleeves are down to my wrists and the hem is halfway down my hips. So I rummaged through the closet this morning and dug out an old polo and tried it on. Guess what? It fit. Without being tight. Without pulling across my chest or stomach. So, that's what I'm wearing today! Thu, 10 Jul 2014 12:57:12 EST 4 Months of Sparking Today is my 4 month anniversary since I joined Sparkpeople.

I am reflecting today about how my bad eating habits started. Yesterday on the message boards someone asked if anyone else grew up having sit-down meals with the family. I replied that I always had dinner with my mom and while that is true, I also ate other meals alone.

I grew up as an only child. Just me and my mom until I was 18 and she got married and had my brothers. I ate breakfast alone while she was gett... Tue, 8 Jul 2014 12:59:22 EST Monday, my day. Today is my last day off from this long holiday weekend.

I got up and went for a walk firs thing this morning. It was at least 85-90 degrees out there. It's a hot one for sure! Came home and got showered and did some chores around the house. Maybe we will watch a movie later this afternoon.

Weighed in today at 250 on the nose. That means 100 pounds to goal weight. Total lost is 59 pounds from when I was at my heaviest. I bought a Jillian Michaels workout DVD at the thrif... Mon, 7 Jul 2014 14:26:15 EST Walking is pretty good for you. I haven't been super careful about what I'm eating this weekend, but I still pulled off a little bit of weight loss. I attribute that entirely to walking. 100%. I can tell my legs are stronger and more stable now. I can maintain a damn fast pace the whole way. I can adjust my steps and not lose my balance if I need to avoid stepping on an ant. (Yes, it's true, I do that.)

Today I saw lots of little critters. There was a fledgling grackle in the grass and one of it's parents was fe... Sat, 5 Jul 2014 20:21:29 EST Independance Day Hope you're all having a wonderful day!

Just got back from the Fourth of July parade with my parents. I got a little teary eyed when they presented truckload after truckload of American flags representing the life lost by a soldier from the county. I saw lots of familiar family surnames. After the parade, the folks wanted to get corndogs and I had a hotdog. Skipped my morning coffee today because I was going to be in unfamiliar restroom territory and I didn't want to have an emerge... Fri, 4 Jul 2014 14:07:42 EST Motivation wanted. Ok Sparkpeople! I need motivation!

I am losing a little steam recently. I have skipped my walk and/or workout for the last 2 days. First the weather was bad and I had to squeegee the basement after work, and then yesterday I spent crying about my kitties that have passed away.

But today is still happening. I could do it today... only I don't want to.

I want to laze around and relax after work. No reason not to workout other than I just want to play my video g... Wed, 2 Jul 2014 17:04:32 EST Yesterday and today. We have had a lot of rain this week, and yesterday it was finally too much. The ground was saturated and the basement started to leak. Instead of going for a walk after work, I spent the evening squeegeeing the basement. Luckily we have everything up off the floor on shelves so nothing got ruined, but it's still a pain.

Today marks one year since my calico cat Cherise passed away from liver disease. That event gutted me. Screwed me up big time. I thought I could save her. I thought... Tue, 1 Jul 2014 15:43:22 EST Goofin' in the garden.

Today is my only day off this weekend. My coworker and I alternate one day and three day weekends so it works out nicely. The plan for today is to clean and garden and play video games and watch a movie and play with my animals. My boyfriend is out of town so I have the house all to myself.

The Oregano plant has really taken... Sun, 29 Jun 2014 11:14:49 EST Stayin home. I stayed home yesterday and did Sparkpeople video workouts instead of going for a walk. It was so nice to stay out of the humidity and revisit some of the original workouts that I started out with.

I did an upper body workout with the stability ball and the 10 minute Abs Shredder twice and I feel it today, in a good way. I also did the 14 minute Bethany Frankel Skinny Girl Yoga workout and the 20 minute Kathy Smith Yogilates video. All of these are fun and challenging ones to try i... Sat, 28 Jun 2014 11:21:06 EST Superfast Another rainy day today.

I walked 3 miles yesterday as fast as I could and finished it in 57 minutes! Two reasons- one was because I wanted to be home by 7pm when my programming starts. And two because the threat of rain was eminent. I was extra motivated because I didn't want my iPod to get wet. Thankfully I beat the rain and had a nice brisk walk.

Today... I don't know whether I want to risk my luck dodging raindrops or just stay home and do a few stability ball worko... Now that we're all drinking enough water to drown a fish, I wonder, are you a sipper or a guzzler?

I'm a guzzler. I have a mental voice that cheers me on, "Chug! Chug! Chug! Chug!" It helps get me where I need to be water wise. Two glasses in the morning, one at lunch, two in the afternoon, one at dinner, and two more in the evening. It's exhausting really. Wed, 25 Jun 2014 17:26:55 EST June 2015

That's right. In one year, I should be at my goal weight of 150 pounds. I have 103 pounds to lose before I get there. That's 2 pounds per week that I need to send packin'.

I think I can do it, barring any unforeseen circumstances or substantial slip ups. I still feel really motivated. I'm feeling healthier, even in the partial weight loss. I figure every little bit helps.

Once I reach my go... I'm a beast!

I actually only had one drink, a Lindemans Pêche lambic. It's a fruit beer and I love them. The only beer I think tastes good, and that's because it doesn't taste like beer. It's so fancy it has 2 lids! A cork and a crimped metal cap as well.

I will say that all the fun was because of my friends. They are such good people. I used to be a party animal. Big time. Every night of the week I was either at a bar, or somebody's house, or traveling and going to music festivals with my friends. You've heard the expression 'party like a rock star', well I partied WITH rock stars. Then one day, I outgrew it. I literally woke up one day and had turned a page. I must have been about 32.

I out grew it both... Sat, 21 Jun 2014 14:53:06 EST 15 Things to give up Fri, 20 Jun 2014 22:27:32 EST Snack talk. I have to snack in the evening.

I can make it through the day just fine. I go to work at 9 and have my coffee with fat free creamer. Then I have lunch at noon and occasionally, I have a handful of mixed nuts around 3:30.

Then when I go home at 5:30, I workout for an hour. Usually I go for a walk, but if the weather is bad, I do SP workout videos at home. Then I shower and fix supper at 7. After dinner, I like to have 2 snacks. I like a little bowl of cereal for "dessert... Thu, 19 Jun 2014 14:35:39 EST Chips

The photo above is a potato chip laying on the floor in the back room of my workplace.

I work in a really old building, hence the archaic tile, and yes, it's very dirty and not fancy at all. I am desperately trying to start over.

I want to move out of this small town where I don't have any friends. I want to get away from my boyfriend because he drinks all the time and is annoying and aggressive when he does. I just want to buy a little house in the city where I can have friends. I have lost over 30 pounds since March 8th, 2014! I had completely given up on weight loss, and now that I am doing it, it's a big deal!

2. I can walk 3 miles in an hour! Mon, 16 Jun 2014 23:05:17 EST Leisure walk. Recently, one of the Sparkpeople member tips was to go for a leisure walk. They said you don't have to go all out every time you walk, and I agreed.

So today, after I got home from our family Father's Day activities, I went for my walk, the leisurely way. I mixed up my route a little bit and admired the architecture of some old homes in the neighborhood. I stopped to smell the creamy white flowers on a big bushy bush. I picked a few mulberries to eat. I noticed the birds, butterfli... Sun, 15 Jun 2014 16:52:34 EST Heroes "Feels good to watch a big man dance". That's a line from a song called Heroes by Widespread Panic. And it's exactly what I was thinking at my little cousin's dance recital.

In addition to all the pretty little girls in their tutus and athletic teenagers in their sequined costumes, there was a male dance instructor who was just a bit heavyset. He knew all the dances, even the ones for the tiny little ballerinas, and he danced just off stage so they could watch him, just in case th... I only live 3 blocks from work, so I go home every day for my lunch break.

Today when I got home I checked the garden to see how my little seedlings are doing. Then I sat in the lawn chair and grieved for my kitty before I went in the house.

Once inside, I preheated the oven and put a piece of tortilla crusted tilapia and 3 shrimp on a baking pan. Eventually I went out to get the mail. Then I turned on the computer and started entering my lunch into the nutrition tracker... Thu, 12 Jun 2014 15:50:22 EST Getting on with it. Today is kind of about eating clean.

I was lax with my nutrition the last two days since my kitty died. We went out for dinner last night and I had some spicy, cheesy, chicken nachos. I can definitely feel it today. Plus the stupid scale nudged itself up a little bit, but I know that weight is not sticking around, so I'm not too worried about it.

I did force myself out on a walk yesterday. I covered 3 miles in just under an hour. I was choking up and bawling intermittent... Wed, 11 Jun 2014 11:47:29 EST Boooooooo. Thu, 5 Jun 2014 13:47:56 EST Looking for the way out. It's easy to feel discouraged sometimes.

I had a crappy, negative, feeling yesterday, and I kind of decided to hell with it. Tue, 3 Jun 2014 20:40:30 EST Super frustrated. How annoying is it when you are forced to stay late at work?

I usually exercise right after work. I have mentioned before, my after work schedule is super tight to get everything done, so when I had to stay late tonight, it put me in a grumpy mood. When I finally did get home, I had zero time for my walk and then I was so, SO annoyed. I can't even tell you.

Then I wanted to eat out of anger and frustration. Giant snoozefest at my place today.

I got up early to walk before the heat of the day. I saw a fox in somebody's back yard eating a squirrel. Lots of fur blowing around. Glad he got something to eat though. I took my iPod with me on my walk yesterday and I cut 10 minutes off my walk time!

It normally takes me 65 minutes to walk 3 miles, but I did it in 55 yesterday. I had worked up a nice sweat and was honestly pushing as hard as I could. I found that it really does help to have a steady beat to keep pace with. Also, some songs are better for stride lengthening (which I have been trying to work on) and other are good for shorter, quicker steps.

I didn't have any pockets, so... Fri, 30 May 2014 16:43:14 EST Sometimes you're the bug. A couple of days ago, I was nearly run off the trail by a cyclist.

The local cycling club was out for a ride and there was a pair riding side by side. My boyfriend and I were walking single file so they could continue past us. Then a lady from the back decided it would be a good time to pass them and she charged ahead nearly sideswiping us. She only missed us by 6 inches or so. I was mad about it. "How rude!" I thought. I wished I had stuck out my arm and clothes-lined her (I'm me... Thu, 29 May 2014 13:55:59 EST No time to waste. I have simplified my routine in the morning to save precious time. I have virtually eliminated the stressful rush to get out the door.

I shower in the evening after my workout. This saves about 20 minutes in the morning, plus another 5 minutes of blow drying time.

I wear my hair in a ponytail almost everyday so I don't have to waste time curling it. It never looks that great even if I spend half an hour fooling with it anyway. So why bother?

I stopped wearing ... Wed, 28 May 2014 18:02:30 EST It takes work. My weight loss seems to come in spurts.

I lose 5 pounds or so, then level off for a week, then lose, then level. This week is going to be a losing week. How do I know? Because I am going to make it so. I am a top contender for my dream job and they have a weight limit of 240 to ride their horses. I may not be at 240 when I interview but I will try to get there asap. Tue, 27 May 2014 12:23:59 EST Getting over it.

The last year of my life has been rough.

Lots of depression and tears and self loathing. I am almost past it. My baby brother is graduating from high school tomorrow!

We had a nice party for him today and a ton of food to serve the guests. We made sure to have some healthy options like fruit salad, veggie salad, and cucumber salad in addition to pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, chips, pasta salad, etc. I believe I stayed within my calorie allowance today because I was super conservative when I filled my plate.
