FANCYSIMAGES's SparkPeople Blog FANCYSIMAGES's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community The return and lessons learned I'm back. I've taken about 6 months off to try and get my life back in order and figure out what priorities require my attention. While I haven't quite gotten it completely figured out, I've learned quite a few things along the way.

1. I am worth it. Whatever time I put into self care, self love, and self compassion, every single minute is important. I've been taking time every morning to do my makeup for about a year, but in the last 6 months, I've branched out to trying new techn... Sun, 3 Sep 2017 12:19:18 EST Day 2761 Hello everyone! 3 days in a row, this is quite the accomplishment. We had a quiet night last night, just knit in front of the TV a little bit.

This morning we woke up to snow, but it has melted away (the new stuff anyway).

Today is Three Kings Day, or Second Christmas as we call it in my family. When I lived at home, my mom would just make the main dish of our normal Christmas dinner, pierogies. But since Hubby and I have been living together, we've made all the courses... Fri, 6 Jan 2017 10:23:59 EST Day 2760 Thanks everyone who checked in on yesterday's blog! I've looked at bullet journals before and they definitely seem like something I would enjoy, but I have yet to find a note book that's small enough to fit in my purse and large enough to hold everything I need. I will keep my eyes open though, I'm sure it's out there somewhere! For now, I'll continue to use my Google Doc Template.

Yesterday's Stats:
c25k - done
walk - done
log meals - done
8 cups water - done <... Thu, 5 Jan 2017 14:04:49 EST Day 2759 I think it's safe to say blogs haven't been my most consistent achievement over the past few years, but I'd really like to change that this year. Even if it's just me checking in with the previous day's stats, I'd really like to try to post 5 times a week. We'll see how this goes.

The best place to start, I guess, would be my goals for the year.

-running C25K or Asics Run 5x per week
-walking 5x per week
-ST 3x per week
-yoga 2x per week

-meal ... Wed, 4 Jan 2017 11:39:13 EST Day 2187 Sorry for the lack of blogs, things have been busy.

Our CSA starts up for the summer, so we're going to have loads and loads of veggies going forward! We're super excited!

I have been trying to focus on several things in an attempt to kick the scale into gear. Seems to be working! I've been focusing on following my half marathon training plan, getting at least 12 cups of water a day, and switching to an all vegetarian diet. I hope to make all 3 habits by the end of the m... Thu, 11 Jun 2015 10:06:09 EST Day 2172 Today marks the end of Week 1/beginning of Week 2 of BLC28. It was not my best first week by far...

This week coming up, I need to focus on my water intake and getting my exercise in. I WILL succeed this week!

NSV - 2 coworkers have birthdays this week, so there were 2 cakes to celebrate today. I took a small slice of one cake, where normally I would have had a normal size slice from both. Wed, 27 May 2015 13:49:20 EST Day 2160. Our department is hosting a picnic for us today, and I had every intention of baking a sweet bread for it. Well, last night, by the time we got back from meeting our photographer, we were wiped and went right to bed. I remember early this morning. Lucky for us, we got up early to walk to campus. Instead, we drove and stopped at the grocery store to get some cookies. Well, we ended up getting to campus early, so we squeezed in a 30 minute walk. It wasn't quite the same at the 50 minutes we wou... Fri, 15 May 2015 11:42:21 EST Day 2159. Walked in to work this morning. It was a little chilly, but we had a great time, chatting along the way. It's 2.2 miles, mostly uphill and takes us about 50 minutes. Tonight, we'll be going home through downtown (about .5 miles from campus), getting dinner somewhere down there, and then meeting with our wedding photographer to go over some details for the big day. He's an absolute blast to work with, so we're excited to see him and go over everything. After that, it's about 1.75 miles home. T... Thu, 14 May 2015 10:52:30 EST Day 2158. Every time I've started blogging again, I start my blogs over again at Day 1. And I was going to do the same today, but that's not really the truth.

I started my journey 2158 days ago, on June 6, 2009. I had some ups and downs, and even some derailments, but after some time I always came back. I am proud to say that I have been regularly active on this site for 647 days, since August 5, 2013. That is the day I really started taking things seriously, and also the day I started runni... Wed, 13 May 2015 13:41:28 EST Resolutions 2015 Just realized I never posted my resolutions blog yesterday!

I have one large over-arching resolution for this year: to get organized.

In addition to a budget spreadsheet that Fiance put together, I have created my own "planner binder" which is split up as follows:

Monthly Date Night - includes pre-planned activities such as weddings and family activities (due to travel expenses). Our own wedding is being considered our date night in October.

Monthl... Fri, 2 Jan 2015 16:39:28 EST Reflections on 2014 The past few days I've been thinking a lot about what I've accomplished in the last year.

I began the year with a knee injury and had to walk most of my first race of the year. In November, I ran out 4.56 miles straight, and also completed a 5k while running the whole time (and that included a mile of hill).

I didn't track my food most of the year, and I ran sporadically - 3 days a week some weeks, 5 days a week other weeks, sometimes I went weeks without running at all... Wed, 31 Dec 2014 12:05:22 EST Week 9 TNT Assignment - Tools and Resources Our TNT assignment this week is two share the tools and resources we have to help us on our journey.

****

1. SparkPeople - The articles are all filled with amazing information, and I love reading them. In the beginning, the nutrition and exercise trackers were life savers for me. Since I use a fitbit to track my daily movement now, I don't use the fitness trackers anymore (it ends up double counting and it gets messy). I have also stopped tracking food regularly (but tha... Mon, 11 Aug 2014 10:22:47 EST Day 28. A lot has changed in a year. A year ago, on August 5, I was pretty sure I was doomed to NEVER lose any weight. I had gotten my fitbit in January and had lost a whopping 3 pounds since then. I was walking every day at work, and trying to eat as many of our farm vegetables as we could before going crazy with boredom. Since then, I've learned a few things, and I've made some very positive changes!

1. I have lost 37 lbs since then.
2. Exactly a week after that day, I took my first steps out the door with a C2... Tue, 5 Aug 2014 11:43:01 EST Day 24. August. Hard to believe it's already August! This summer seems to have flown by! Fri, 1 Aug 2014 14:56:11 EST Day 20. Busy, productive weekend. Fiance and I got a lot done this weekend - picked our venue (we have a meeting on Wed to book it), got a few gifts, picked out rings to be ordered later), and went on a few walks while brainstorming. Mon, 21 Jul 2014 09:48:01 EST Day 10. BLC wrapup/reflection This round of BLC, I stepped outside my comfort zone and into a new team. I had been with the foxes (previously cougars) for many many rounds, and I was a little apprehensive about switching teams, but I had gotten too comfortable. It was time to make a change and I did. I landed with the Hot Mocha Maniacs, who have been the most amazing group, welcoming me with open arms and always pushing me to be better. I hope to be with them again next round!

NSV for the round: I dropped 3 min... Fri, 18 Jul 2014 09:50:50 EST Day 9. Beet sliders We made beet sliders last night with beets from the farm. (recipe:

rian/grilled-beet-sliders/beet-sliders/
). They were sooooooooo super yummy. We've decided to replace the mayo and sour cream in the dressing with avocado next time to make it a. healthier, b. vegan, and c. even more delicious.

We halved the dressing and still got a full mason jar (2 cups) out of it. We only used about 2 tbsp apiece across 5 sliders each, so w... Thu, 17 Jul 2014 09:17:12 EST Day 8. Mac N Cheese We had a box of mac n cheese lying around and decided to make a quick dinner out of it last night. We made some alterations that made it delicious, healthier, and super filling! We've done it in the past with the Kraft stuff, but this time we had a box of Annie's, which is a tad bit healthier to begin with. We added a 1 lb bag of California mixed veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots) in with the pasta as it cooked, then substituted the milk and butter with 1/2 cup cottage cheese. Mmmmm... Wed, 16 Jul 2014 12:40:39 EST Day 7. My happy moment of the day I had a great five minute happy moment this morning. Jason Mraz's new CD is out (released today), and while I haven't bought it yet, I was able to listen to it on Spotify. That combined with a freshly made black french-press coffee (cinnamon hazelnut flavored) made for a perfect pre-work de-stressing moment.

1. 10000+ steps per day 248 total: 13129
2. 8+ cups water per day 248 total: 8
3. 2 freggies with each meal - 248 strawberries,... Tue, 15 Jul 2014 14:39:41 EST Day 6. Weekend victories Spent the weekend back at home with our parents again, except this time we had a little bit more control. I was able to meet my stepping goals both days, and while I did not keep track of what I ate, I made smart choices which paid off in the end: I lost a pound over the weekend! This has NEVER happened when we've gone home.

On top of all of this, we saw an amazing production of Phantom of the Opera and had a great dinner in Boston (we split some eggplant spread, then I had a platt... Mon, 14 Jul 2014 13:49:20 EST Day 3. Another Restart Engagement celebrations and the holiday left much to be desired in the way of proper eating and exercising. My average step count for Thursday-Tuesday was 3000. But I am back at it. Managed over 18000 yesterday and over 10000 the day before. It took us about 45 minutes and it was so nice to have that time together. Way better than the 10-15 minute drive we normally have.

1. 10,000+ steps per day 248
2. 8+ cups water per day. 248
3. 2 Freggies with each meal. apple, banana, cabbage, banana
4. We had our farm share pickup yesterday and picked up a variety of goodies - turnips, brocolli, kohrabi, bok choy, kale, chard, salad mix, and something else I am definitely forgetting.

We had a delicious salad for dinner with a homemade Garlic Dijon Vinaigrette (recipe here:

l.asp?recipe=1992706
). We ended up adding more dijon because the lemon/vinegar were a bit strong. It was a good base, but we'll play around with it a b... Fri, 27 Jun 2014 11:36:02 EST Day 7. Quick Run This morning I did not want to get up and run. Nope. Nope. Nope. Put it off for an hour then realized that I wouldn't be able to make it up in the evening and decided to just go and do it. Since I only had a bit of time left at that point, I decided to just pick a route and go for it rather than using my 10K trainer (30 minutes) or my 13.1 trainer (68 minutes). I finished 1.74 miles in just under 20 minutes, not a terrible pace. While it was pretty miserably humid, I am glad I chose to do it!... Tue, 24 Jun 2014 12:21:53 EST Day 6. Engagement Apparently I'm already not doing so great at the daily blogging. I won't go back and do the blogs for last few days. I am attempting to run at least 4 weekday mornings a week (I'm only getting 3 in the week, but I'll try to do one on the weekend), and BF and I are doing the two challenges below, adding in a rest day every 5 days (so it will be more like a 36 day challenge). Instead, I have put together a menu for dinner with recipes I found right on Spark! We will be having oven-"fried" ch... Fri, 21 Mar 2014 16:01:26 EST I need your help! Dear Sparkfriends,

As you may know, I have accepted the challenge and am participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. Did you know that every three minutes, another woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer? I didn't, and I was shocked to learn how prevalent this horrible disease has become in this country.

I am eager to get started with my fundraising and I need your support! I have pledged to raise money for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer as part... Fri, 28 Feb 2014 13:23:14 EST
