At the same time, I see all of the "angels" who have rushed to the aid of others, who have offered support and kindness, who are brave. When all is said and done, I try to remember all of the goodness that I've witnessed. If not, I'm left with sadness, rather than hope. Prayers. Mon, 15 Apr 2013 20:58:57 EST Just Do It http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5317648 A busy day. Did lots of household chores and I didn't think I'd get to walk. But, even at the 11th hour, I fit in a good strong 30 minute walk. Glad I fit that in. However, seeing that incision, is certainly a motivator to get myself back to SP and on plan. So this morning -- a walk (4+ miles), a good breakfast. Sat, 2 Mar 2013 16:38:40 EST Made It Through Last Night http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5267169 Had a great time with friends, and stuck to my eating plan. Seems that all of us were being "careful" last night, so that made it easier. One friend is on a drastic weight loss plan -- drops in the mouth several times a day and only 500 calories. She seems well, although we worry. She's lost about 30 pounds, so we're all very proud of her, too. Anyway, I was stressing about the food for nothing. However, here's Monday, and a pleasant surprise...just about 50 degrees. Well, with weather like that there's no excuse not to get outside. Mind you, I've walked outside all winter, regardless of the temperature or the crazy wind! <BR> <BR> This evening I headed out feeling full of vigor, and apparently I really was energized. It was an absolutely insane week of commitments, and that kept me hopping. I didn't eat well, and only tracked half-heartedly. I didn't workout all week. <BR> <BR> So today, I had to get myself back together. I had a good night's sleep. Did a workout. I didn't feel very peppy during the workout, but I did it. Sun, 24 Feb 2013 09:25:26 EST All the Pieces http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5254526 Went to my doctor's office this morning for blood work. Got weighed and that made me happy. Really trying to address all components of my health, so today was key. I'll go for my follow-up in two weeks to discuss results with doctor. Blood pressure was good too. I feel like all of my hard work is taking me in the right direction. Have a great week! Mon, 18 Feb 2013 08:52:17 EST Didn't Think I Could Do It http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5250783 Wasn't feeling very motivated today. Didn't overeat, but didn't feel like working out. Was busy all day. Around 6:30 I went upstairs and saw my workout pants. Told myself to put them on and just do a short little loop. Once I was changed and out the door, I was able to get in a decent workout (2.4 miles), and I feel fantastic. I always read advice about just getting out the door...and it's so true. Sun, 10 Feb 2013 20:38:35 EST Back on Track http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5241536 Yesterday was not a good Spark day. I didn't get in a workout. I ate a litte more than I should have, although when I weighed this morning, I hadn't gained. I had a ton of work to do at home for my job (crazy -- and I rarely do this), and there was laundry, dishwasher, and several phone calls because of an ill family member. The calls were important, and I just did everything else in between. However, TODAY IS A NEW DAY!! Got up before the alarm, had a good breakfast and lunch, and sque... I'm fine if I can find things to keep my mind and hands busy. The winter can be a challenge. I keep getting myself out and walking nearly every day -- and I'm proud of that. Even when it's quite cold, I go out. However, I keep wondering what other people do to keep away from tempting snacking, and what they do to keep motivated. Onward... Thank goodness, I didn't let it keep me home. Instead I went out for a walk, and although I was upset, it cleared my head. Today, during my lunch break, I slipped out for a little walk to try to get rid of the worry that was still with me. As with many of the things I worry about like crazy, it all worked out by the end of the day today. Is there still a bit of an issue, yes, but it will all work out. Wi... Thu, 31 Jan 2013 18:39:58 EST P" is for power and perseverance http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5225316 Got up with plenty of time to allow for a good workout before I have to attend an event. Planned to do a 3 mile out & back route that I like. When I got to the turn around point, I didn't turn back, instead I went in the direction of another route that I like. That one is a 4.5 mile loop. I was feeling so motivated to tackle it. With each step I felt better and more powerful. Now, mind you, my ipod "died" with a mile to go, but I didn't let it bother me. I met one of my neighbors as I ... Sun, 27 Jan 2013 08:56:34 EST Snowy Fun http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5223543 A little snow today, and although it's been cold here, it was nice to see the snow. I love to go out for a walk in the snow. If you don't mind the snow, I hope you're enjoying it if you have it. If you don't like the snow, then I'm hoping for a quick melt for you. Happy weekend to all! Fri, 25 Jan 2013 19:38:43 EST A Long Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5221168 Today is going to be a tough one...regular day of teaching, tutoring, hurry home, meeting. I don't mind being busy, but I know that it will be nearly impossible to fit in a workout between the time I get home and going to this meeting. Maybe I can just try to squeeze in 10 minutes at lunch. I know it's only one day, and this is what happens when I don't plan. I should have set the alarm a little earlier this morning and fit in some fitness time early. Oh well, onward. Thu, 24 Jan 2013 07:23:09 EST I Keep Surprising Myself http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5220521 After walking yesterday in the cold, I didn't know if I could do it again today knowing that it was going to be even colder. Once again, I changed quickly and got out there. I was getting a lot of funny looks from people driving by, but I was feeling strong. I realized while I was out walking that because of the bitter cold, few people were out so it was really quiet and peaceful. I was glad I went out because I felt really grateful for the peacefulness. I have a long way to go on this ... Wed, 23 Jan 2013 18:02:16 EST Today was the Test http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5219000 Just like many other parts of the country, it's very cold here in the northeast. I am really pumped that I came home, changed, and went right out to workout. It was cold, but I dressed warmly. Once I got started, it was fine -- just a few little cold spots of skin. I know tomorrow is supposed to be colder, but I feel empowered by today's victory!! Tue, 22 Jan 2013 18:09:09 EST Problem Solving http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5217473 I find it really hard to be motivated to go out for a walk when it's cold. Today, though, I broke my workout down into two parts. I did half at lunch (it was windy, but sunny a pleasant), then I didn't think I could get myself back out the door. By the way, I love to go outside for my workout. Well, I had a cup of "No sugar added" hot cocoa and felt all toasty inside. Since I had gotten over my chill, I just quickly put on my sneakers, jacket, gloves, and hat, and headed for the door. N...
