Monday’s goals were:
• Stick to my nutrition plan/in my calorie range
• Write in my journal
• Exercise/move/do SOMETHING for 30 minutes
• No soda
And I did ALL OF THOSE! *yay, hooray, party, woo!* OK, so the “exercising” was reading in the pool wearing a floaty-ring and just sort of idly kicking my feet, but it was ... Tue, 16 Jul 2013 14:55:07 EST Struggling to find my stride. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5416398 I'm struggling some to get back into the swing of things. I'm doing a pretty good job while at work with eating a healthy breakfast, lunch, and snack. It's once I get HOME that I sort of tank it. Last night I ate the last of a piece of cake, a 2nd piece of rhubarb custard pie (I'd budgeted for one in my nutrition plan) and an extra cup of rice. All in all, not to bad, when I look at it here. I also didn't go to Zumba, but rather sat on my butt all evening watching Korean TV shows. From 4 p.m.... Wed, 10 Jul 2013 07:59:59 EST Fessin' up. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5415563 OK, OK, so I didn't do so good last night. Went out for sushi and watched several hours of Korean TV shows instead of going to BodyWorks and eating the healthy dinner we had planned. Tonight it's Zumba in the Circuit at Curves and Broccoli Orange Beef Stir-Fry for dinner. I've got another 2 months on my Curves contract, so I'm trying to ease into working out at LA Fitness, and still utilize Curves while I'm locked in there. I don't much like the Curves workout (it's BORINNNNNG), but it's more... Tue, 9 Jul 2013 13:11:33 EST Muddling through. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5414317 I just ordered a book of journaling prompts for overeaters, and I’m deciding if I want to journal to those prompts here or in a paper journal. Decided to get back “on the wagon” over the weekend, after reading a book (“He Loves Lucy” by Susan Donovan) about a 250 lb, size 22 woman who joins a gym as part of a marketing campaign, in which she will earn $1,000 per pound (up to 100 lbs) she loses working with her trainer at this gym in a year. Being almost 250 lbs and a size 22 myself, it was en... Mon, 8 Jul 2013 12:09:23 EST Down the rabbit hole... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4975690 I’m almost all the way back up to my starting weight when I first started trying to lose weight. Ugh. Time to stop being a lazy pig and get back into making myself HEALTHY.

I backed off trying so hard to lose weight when I found myself crouched over a toilet at the gym with my fingers in my mouth, trying to make myself throw up the burger and fries I’d just eaten. Yeah. So not good. Problem is, I went COMPLETELY THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION and stopped exercising completely and have eat... Wed, 18 Jul 2012 08:09:19 EST OK, I'm back. Didja miss me? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4902285 I went to a kind of crazy place for a while there, when I drifted away from SparkPeople. I was eating only about 1100 calories a day for 3-4 days, and then I’d go on a crazy binge for the weekend, then get back to eating not enough for a few days, then go crazy… I was also exercising 1-3 hours every day, and I mean, like, Jillian Michaels and then Zumba crazy sweaty high intensity exercise, and then not eating anywhere near enough calories to support that.

Finally, I binged out a ... Tue, 29 May 2012 08:30:55 EST What is dead can never die, but rises again harder and stronger. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4843791 I’ve been super-busy (and super-stressed) for the entire month of April, and just keep gaining back weight. Ugh. Back up to 199 today – that’s where I started with this 3-month challenge back on March 17th. I’ll never win at this rate!!

For the past 2 weeks I’ve been telling myself “Today I’m back on track” and some days I do well all the way through the end of the workday, then disaster-fy myself in the evening. This week, I’ve been drinking a lot of soda and eating too many break... Fri, 20 Apr 2012 09:27:41 EST I'M GOING TO THE CIRCUS TONIGHT!!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4811946 I’m so excited. =) I haven’t been to the circus since I was about 10 years old. I just can’t wait!!

I did a great job staying on track with my eating yesterday (yay!) and I’ve got a good, workable plan to stay on track today. Now I’ll just have to say no to all the snacks at the circus tonight… I’ll distract myself from the nomable goodies by getting myself non-nom goodies – light up roses and those flashing swords and all the toys my parents couldn’t afford to buy me when I was a ... Fri, 30 Mar 2012 09:37:00 EST Well that was a disaster. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4810302 The bright side of making the same mistakes over and over (and over) is that it’s getting easier to (1) recognize my mistake and (2) figure out what to do to correct it.

Mistake Numero Uno: I’m over-reaching myself (again) and psyching myself out.
I like to make big plans. That way even if I don’t do EVERYTHING I say I want to do, I still get an impressive amount done. I like striving to reach a goal, and if it’s something easy to do I don’t feel the same sense of super-human ... Thu, 29 Mar 2012 09:03:23 EST Rollercoaster ride http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4806929 Ach, so many ups and downs this week, loves.

After St. Patty’s Day, I’d gained back 3.5 lbs (from Sat morning to Wednesday morning). Managed to lose those 3.5 lbs again by Saturday, only to find 1 of the pounds again by this morning. Thanks to food tracking and my FitBit, I know why this is happening, I just need to be a stronger and stop letting myself go food-crazy in the evenings. I track and journal just fine through the work day (and even for the first half of the day on the ... Tue, 27 Mar 2012 09:08:39 EST 199! Back in One-derland! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4778821 On Sunday 2/22 I weighed in at 207 lbs. That’s just 20 lbs down from where I started Jan 1st, 2011. Disgusted that I gained back 22 lbs in the past 8 months, I decided something definitely needed to change. I hit the library and checked out a book called “Skinny Bitch,” and made an appointment to talk to a nutritionist.

On Thursday 2/23 I met with my nutritionist and made two changes to my life: I adopted a pescatarian diet (vegetarian + fish) and I started saying some positive dai... She let me try it (mixed with oat milk) for lunch last week and I LOVED it. The shake has just a great flavor all by itself (the flavor is "cream") and I know it's going to taste awesome in my breakfast smoothies mixed w... Fri, 2 Mar 2012 14:31:32 EST Apples make me hungry. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4763153 For breakfast I’ve been having a smoothie (nonfat organic milk, 2 T oatmeal, 2 T flax, ½ c frozen fruit, 1 t cinnamon) and then a few hours later a piece of fruit. I’ve found out that apples make me hungry. Is that strange? I’ve started to eat 2 wedges of Happy Farms light cheese (25 cal/wedge) with my apple, and that at least makes it so I’m not MORE hungry than before I ate the apple.

Does anybody else find that eating fruit makes them more hungry? Is it the sugars in the fruit? ... Wed, 29 Feb 2012 10:27:15 EST I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4759495 I had a really great weekend. I spent a lot of it at my parents’ house, helping get the HUGE AMOUNTS OF FOOD ready for my brother’s 24th birthday party on Sunday. I love cooking, and it was fun to make all sorts of things that other people can eat. ;) We made a big ol’ roast turkey, two kinds of stuffing, mashed potatoes (with and without garlic), mashed rutabega, corn, (vegetarian, low sodium) collard greens, and rolls. I was a good girl and had garlic mashed taters, a little mashed rutabaga... Mon, 20 Feb 2012 11:26:13 EST "Skinny Bitch" http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4745890 I checked out "Skinny Bitch" by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin from the library, and I started reading it this morning. It's TERRIFYING. If even half of what this books says is true, I want to run screaming for the hills.

This will require much more thought and research on my part, but I'm definitely considering a drastic change in my diet. I'm definitely changing to organic dairy and organic, cage-free eggs, and am looking into switching to a near-vegetarian diet and limiting my ... Sun, 19 Feb 2012 10:33:14 EST Why can't we be friends? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4736580 The most frustrating part of this while weight loss journey is trying to figure out what the “right” thing to do it. It’s so hard to stick with a diet and exercise plan, and it just makes it that much harder because you don’t really know if all that hard work and sweat is going to be what you actually need to get where you’re going. If something’s not working, do I just need to give it more time? Eat more calories? Less? Eat more fat, less fat? Exercise more, exercise less, do a different typ... Mon, 13 Feb 2012 10:51:32 EST Take THAT, fat-self! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4728489 So last night after whining about how hard this all is, I put on my big-girl panties and did Turbo Jam (20 minute workout), then went to my Belly Dancing and Zumba classes.

Woke up this morning at 5:15 and did Turbo Jam – I was supposed to do Cardio Party but instead did the 20 minute workout again – BUT I GOT UP BEFORE WORK AND EXERCISED! Sat, 21 Jan 2012 08:46:17 EST My muscles BEG FOR MERCY! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4690795 Did my first actual day of P90X with Dad yesterday, and I think we’re going to stick with doing it together every day after work (and on weekends, of course). Yesterday we did the Shoulders & Arms DVD, and the Ab Ripper X DVD. Shoulders & Arms was actually almost fun, though I had puny 2 lb weights and will try using slightly heavier weights next time. Ab Ripper X was ROUGH. Ugh. They did 25 each of 13 different ab/core exercises, and for most of them I was lucky to complete 5-10, FORGET 25! ... I've got a 15 minute break between classes, and MAN, I felt so great after last night! The belly dance class is focused more on technique than on calorie burn (though I burned 500 calories in the 45 minute class!) and it was a great warm-up for Zumba. I went into that Zumba class just PUMPED. I felt like running laps around the gym! It was amazing!

This... I went ice skating for an hour and a half, and it was a perfect day for it. I love ice-skating so much. =) We went for the first time last week, and right after I went online and bought a pair of skates so I don’t have to rent. Back then, I started with just 10 minutes of exercise a day, and wound up building up to a point where I was exercising 2-3 hours a day and LOVING IT.

SO. Sun, 25 Dec 2011 22:25:56 EST CONSTANT VIGILANCE! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4631704 I sort of re-thunk cancelling my YMCA membership, and I think I’m going to keep it. My original plan was to keep my Curves membership ($48/month) and cancel my YMCA members ($62/month), and then do Zumba at Curves ($2 for “in the circuit” classes and $7 per hour long every-other-Saturday class). But if I did Curves + 2 Zumba classes a week + 2 Saturday Zumba classes… that’s $78 a month. I got up at 8 and had a quick, healthy breakfast of egg whites, ham, and reduced fat wheat thins, then went for my very first snowboarding lesson! And WOW, what a workout THAT was. I had a lot of fun, especially during the second hour of the lesson where we were actually moving down hill. My ARMS actually hurt the most today, probably from using that stupid tow-rope (and, of course, from catching... Sun, 4 Dec 2011 08:56:32 EST Did a baaaaad thing. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4609151 I did a bad, bad, baaaaad thing yesterday. STUFFED MY FACE!

I didn’t work out yesterday – I was still sore (am still sore…) from Tuesday evening’s Zumba. Like, sore to the point that sitting down hurts. OUCH. I’m less sore today though, so that’s good.

The bad part was that I my brain went “Hmm, not workin’ out today. BETTER EAT THE WORLD!” I had to go to Target after work and buy AA batteries (to play Wii fitness games, yay!), and while there I bought a tray of sushi (... Fri, 2 Dec 2011 10:10:27 EST The importance of blogging. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4606021 I think a part of my problem this summer was that I stopped blogging. Going to try to at least pop in for a minute to say how I’m doing – it keeps me honest.

Did Walk Away the Pounds (2 miles) with my Papa last night, then went to Zumba. Zumba KICKED MY ASS. I haven’t gone the last 3 weeks and boy, I sure felt it. I love Veronica (my Zumba instructor) so much – she always pushes me harder, and Zumba with her is definitely the BEST workout I get, period.

When I got home ... Wed, 30 Nov 2011 12:46:52 EST How many times will it take to get it right? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4604114 I’ve been in a funk, a slump, a downward spiral since July – that’s 5 months, kids. I’ve been trying to pull myself OUT of this stinking pit since October, and here it is, 2 months later, and I’m still sliding down and out of control.

I NEED to get a grip somehow. I start out the day determined that TODAY is the day I turn this bus around, NOW is the time for me! And by 3 p.m. when I get home, I’m skipping Zumba and eating everything I can find.

WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG W... Tue, 29 Nov 2011 09:49:39 EST TURKEYTURKEYTURKEYTURKEYTURKEYTURKEYTURKEYTURKEYTURKEY! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4596509 I done good this mornin’. I got up at 5 a.m. (YES!) and did the first 10 minutes of Jillian Michael’s Yoga Meltdown. I almost quit twice before I actually quit, but told myself to push through. That DVD is HARD, ok? My goal for tomorrow is to make it through 15 minutes (of the 30 minute video). THEN I went to Curves and lifted weights! Good job, me!

I’ve decided that since Thanksgiving is TOMORROW, and then we’re going to the Chianti Grill on Friday night (and their nutrition info ... I’m excited!

On my lunch break today, I’m going to go ... Tue, 22 Nov 2011 09:16:33 EST Happy Birthday to me! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4583421 Today I turn 26. I'm really big on new beginnings - I started my weight loss journey on Jan 1st, 2011 and that worked really well for me... for the first 6 months. During that first 6 months, I managed to lose 40 pounds. Stellar!

In the past 4 months, I've been pretty spotty with my nutrition and exercise. I gained back 8 pounds (yuck).

TODAY I set my tracker to 195 start weight, and I also set a new goal and goal date of 144 lbs by Nov. 14th, 2012. That will put me righ... Didn't swim in the a.m. or go to Curves. Ate crazy bad over my calories (like, 2600 calories - DOUBLE my range of 1200-1500), drank crazy amounts of soda. Status: Abysmal

Tuesday: Stayed in calorie range (yay!) Barely over on sodium. Walked at lunch and did Zumba. Didn't do yoga in the a.m. Status: Good

Wednesday: Stayed in my calorie range, but also had a soda. Only a little over on sodium. Walked at lunch and went to Curves. Didn't swi...
