So part of our weekend challenge is to set my resolutions, my goals, my plan for the coming year. What do I want to accomplish in 2013?

Well I would like to reach my goal which is so doable. But I need to improve on some things. I could sit here and beat my self up with all the things I have done wrong. Or I could state what I have been doing right, but I know what I am doing right - so that is not where I nee... If it didn’t work I would just need to accept this is where I am, period.

That is when the chance for a change was given to me. I have learned not to stress about the scale nearly as much so I am less frustrated and ready to give up when it doesn’t say what I think it should say.

My exercise is on target and staying strong. I have relearned how much I actually loved ST as well as the cardio part. I actually feel fairly crummy on the days I don’t exercise, well except for my rest day. Sun, 29 Jan 2012 21:02:37 EST Things I have learned this past year: http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4661908 The most important thing I learned is how important my journal is to me. My journal is my best friend - although what I write in it changes over time either day-to-day or monthly it has helped me discover what is working and what isn’t by being able to go back and look at what I have done. I write different things in it all the time

45 it is my food journal - sometimes just what I have eaten other times calories, protein, carbs. Also when I have put something in my mo... Fri, 6 Jan 2012 12:16:47 EST Reflecting on the year http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4646041 I found about mid way through the year I was frustrated. It didn't seem to matter what I did this is where I was going to stay. Nothing worked or worked for very long so I was ready to just quit.

Then in June, I was given a gift to a gym. It is not the normal gym that most go to. This is a performance center. There are classes but it is more training than anything else, no cardio machines. So I started with classes and moved my way along through what they had to offer.
... Sat, 31 Dec 2011 08:20:49 EST December Challenge http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4613630 Well Barb gave us a cleanse challenge since the team was all talking about trying one. So for me how did it go.

Don’t use any added sweeteners - this wasn’t too bad because I don’t regularly use sweeteners. But it did make me more aware of what does have sweeteners added to it. Although nothing I use is really sweetened that much for this part of the challenge it wasn’t too difficult to give up for the four days - more than four might give me quite the challenge. Although I did ... I have learned that the scale is not the best way to determine how I am doing on this journey.

With the encouragement of my teammates I started personal training and although I think most days he is really trying to kill me I feel great afterwards. I am strong now than I was 12 weeks ago, and has it really been 12 weeks.

I will continue to figure out what works, what doesn’t and keep moving toward th... Mon, 3 Oct 2011 08:00:45 EST Happy with me http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4484629 Three months ago I decided it was time to try something new. Nothing had really been working for me so I needed to find something to motivate me. So just before the small company I worked for shut its door my boss gave me a gift. One of his clients decided to pay his bill by bartering, what was the trade? Six months of a gym membership. Although I tried to not let those thing knock me off the wagon they did but I obviously did not get back on like I thought.

So between rounds I am going to determine what works for me and what has not worked for me. Sat, 2 Jul 2011 10:25:39 EST Dad http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3264349 For the past few days I have been what my daughters have called “distracted.” This is a word that is not normally associated with me, I tend to be a very focused person. But today I realized what it was, the anniversary of my Dad’s death. It has been eight years since he passed. It explained why I kept being pulled in another direction even though I would say not now and would walk away. I would find myself back with a sketch pad and sketching out a section of the garden I have not yet c... Mon, 24 May 2010 21:26:59 EST Attitude makes all the difference http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3186728 So Spring is here and that means getting into the woodland garden. For the past several years (like at least 7) I have just wanted to turn it into grass. I won’t have to stress over the maintenance it takes in the spring, 40-60 hours, to get it ready for the new year, deciding what to plant. More important I won’t have to wonder how bad my back will be when I am done. This year though I went out with a just suck it up attitude. I just told myself that I decided to create this garden and ... While I am there attempting to follow along my daughter was doing her homework and watching the video. Well 5 minutes into it I comment if I cant get it slow how and I suppose to get it fast. Sun, 14 Mar 2010 14:04:45 EST Weight loss journey = Lilac http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2933355 When I moved into my house 19 years ago, the yard was a mess. As a person who not only had an education in horticulture, it was my job for many years, this yard would not do. My Dad and I walked around the yard in March discussing what would have to go and the possibilities of what could be done. It was as we were walking to the backyard that we stopped and looked at what looked like a small tree that had been topped. We could not figure out why someone would do what they did to this tree... Tue, 8 Sep 2009 08:07:54 EST The mural is unveiled http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2360406 So I haven¡¯t painted (and I mean really painted) in about 12 years. My husband collects ducks and I have always said I was going to paint a pond scene with his ducks floating in it. Hence the reason for the mural, and besides I have always had at least one room with some kind of art work painted on the wall.

The wall is 7¨ö¡¯ by 5¨ö¡¯ and I ended up having to paint about ¨÷ of it with my left hand, on a ladder with the top of the painting being 16 feet off the floor. I started... Mon, 31 Aug 2009 08:16:55 EST So how did my challenge go..... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2360254 So the challenge was on while I was out for the floors being done. And yes they are gorgeous.

I hit the farmer’s market every day for fruit and salad for me, and fruit for my daughter for field hockey. Dinner was out every night and morning coffee was from Dunkin Donuts with me getting a donut only once. The restaurant owners were great about not making the servings super sized and one even laughed and said you are like my wife with the salads. I logged my food and managed to s... Mon, 31 Aug 2009 07:03:17 EST The Challenge is on http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2340843 So everything is finally packed up moved into the various rooms which are not having the floors redone at this time. I know when I see them I will not regret having them redone. This is what happens when you choose hardwood floors, they need to be refinished and it has been 14 years after all.

But the real challenge is going to be eating. Since i am hoteling it for the next week, I will have to rely on restaurant food for every meal. We all know how healthy that is going to be.... Mon, 24 Aug 2009 07:25:43 EST That was the hardest wake I think I ever attended http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2329831 Wakes are never really fun. Even when you are celebrating someone’s life as they wished. Even if they don't want you to be sad, you still are. There is that loss, an empty hole that sometimes just can't be filled.

But have you ever had it where the people are greeting you, maintaining their composure until you walk up and then it is broken. I have now had this happen for the third time, and I have decided I don’t like it.

The first time was my grandmother’s wake. ... I was so relaxed and enjoyed everything. I did get alot of the things needed for the floors on Monday, played with the kids, and visited with friends, made blueberry muffins and chocolate zucchini muffins to freeze. But what I think made it so much fun was the mural I am planning. I had said years ago that I wanted to do this but never did and changed it to easier thing to paint. But what made it so great was thi... Mon, 17 Aug 2009 07:37:29 EST Why is it .... answered by the friend http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2308601 Thanks to everyone who offered their support yesterday to my ranting. I woke up to a house that a bomb went off in and since it was spotless just 15 hours earlier I lost it.

I decided to drive my annoyance home in a different way to each family member.

My husband when he called knew something was up and asked. I asked why he had to be such a pig at this time he knows our floors are about to be done and rattled the list of things that need to be done. Like fixing what ... Wed, 12 Aug 2009 08:09:57 EST
