Fri, 6 Feb 2015 17:46:40 EST Diet Update http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5794073 I haven't been "strict" paleo, but I've been making a fairly good attempt. I've been keeping in a bit of dairy (goat milk) since I know I'm ok with that, and have had a few days where things just didn't work out and I had wheat.

That said, I am pretty happy with it. Enough that I am, for now, anyway, planning to make the switch to eating that way.

Results? I've lost about 5 pounds since the start of August. I'll admit I've hit a bit of a plateau lately, but I haven't... Tue, 7 Oct 2014 13:10:51 EST Oops http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5769466 Well, my paleo diet experiment has crashed and burned this week. Been too busy with all the crazy surrounding the upcoming holiday that I didn't have any time to plan meals and go shopping for food. Tonight is probably a lost cause as well, eating wise, but I can probably manage to come up with at least a few days worth of meal plans and get ingredients for them.

Still doing my best to eat healthy, so hopefully won't lose too much progress. I plan to start the paleo experiment u... Fri, 29 Aug 2014 15:04:44 EST New Blog! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5765023 Oops, it's been awhile since I posted anything!

I did well enough with the work challenge to earn the $75 prize. Which I have invested into a kettlebell and a DVD set to go with it. Haven't managed to actually try it, but I really want to. Hopefully soon. I keep saying that, but then I don't get up early enough, and end up not getting home until after 6, it's like 7:30 by the time I get dinner ready, then it's time to put the boys in bed, and next thing I know it's 10pm and I h... Fri, 22 Aug 2014 15:33:33 EST Week Twelve, plus Bonus Round! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5708885 Well, I finished the week strong, after not doing quite as well at the start. All told, I lost 3 lbs, net over the course of the 12 weeks. 5 pounds, if you include the small spike up my weight took shortly after starting. I lost about a 1/2 inch from my hips, and a 1/4 inch from my waist. I also am pretty sure I lost a fair bit from my "gut," but below my waist so it wasn't measured. The fit of my clothes says I did.

Looking at that, it doesn't look like I made all that much p... Mon, 2 Jun 2014 11:56:46 EST Week Eleven http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5704392 Got sick, and had to take half the week off. And, of course, I ended up gaining back the weight I lost last week. Despite that, I do think I look thinner than when I started. I'll find out for sure next week, but I do think I made good progress even if the scale isn't showing it. Edit: even if the tape measure also doesn't show it, I KNOW I made good progress, because I have added a lot more exercise into my routine and improved my eating habits!

This is the last week of my 12-... Tue, 27 May 2014 13:05:06 EST Week Ten http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5698383 Yay, the scale is moving in the right direction again!

Lost about 2 pounds this week. Keeping up with the morning exercise as well.
244
Still got some work to do, but overall doing much better. And I feel a lot better today, too.

2 more weeks left to go. Won't have lost nearly as much weight as I had hoped to, but I have made a ton of progress so far, and expect to get even more done in the next 2 weeks. Mon, 19 May 2014 11:29:58 EST Week Nine http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5694095 Well, mixed bag this week.

I'm still working on eating better. So far, I think I'm doing ok, but still not quite as well as I'd like.

I made a HUGE improvement with my exercise. On Wednesday, I started getting up early in the morning to exercise before heading in to work. So far, it seems to be working. I have time to work out, I'm getting in to work earlier, and as a result of that, I have a bit more time in the evenings with my family. Yay!

Unfortunatel... Tue, 13 May 2014 10:47:25 EST Week Eight http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5688265 Not much to report, really. I forgot to weigh myself yesterday morning and this morning, so I have no idea what my weight has done. Hopefully I can remember to do so tomorrow and edit with the update.

Didn't get anything in the way of exercise, unless you count taking Little Bug to the pool on Saturday.

Oh well. Life happens. Deal with it, and move on.
30
I hope to be able to get some more exercise in this week. It's been tricky lately, what w... Mon, 5 May 2014 18:20:29 EST Week Seven http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5682418 Got derailed mid-week by a nasty cold. No run, and spent several days pretty much in bed.
39
Still managed to lose a pound and a half, but probably due to drastically reduced food intake for a few days. Eh. I needed to rest, and since the loss is in line with what I've been doing the last few weeks, it's probably not going to suddenly come back. So, progress continues to be made!

Going to take a few more days easy to finish getting better, but I'm feeling... Mon, 28 Apr 2014 13:01:04 EST Week Six http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5677892 Half-way done!

I didn't lose any more weight this week, but I didn't gain any either. Given how crazy everything was, I'm going to call that a win.
41
I can't figure out if I think I look like I lost more weight this week. I keep alternating between thinking I'm looking thinner, and can totally meet my goal of no more (or at least much reduced) pudge by this summer, and thinking I look just as pudgy as when I started and aren't making any progress at all. ... Tue, 22 Apr 2014 12:32:16 EST Week Five http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5672270 Starting to see results! Eating quite a bit better, and finally starting to get more exercise in. And, I lost 2.5 lbs this week! Which puts me at -3lbs from where I started.
244

I'm pretty pleased with how things are going, and want to keep improving. I think for week 6, though, my goal is going to be not to take a step backwards. It's a very busy week. Aside from Holy Week, we have a lot of stuff going on (all good!) that will make it hard to fit in exercis... Mon, 14 Apr 2014 19:01:07 EST Week Four http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5666799 Finally starting to really make some progress! Been eating a lot better, and fitting in more exercise. Still not where I want to be on the exercise, and I still haven't managed to go for a second run (but I will!), but much improved.

I've been walking a lot more at work (yay!). Thinking I'm going to need to increase my step goal again next week. And, despite not yet being able to get in as much exercise as I want, my body is really wanting me to get more. I've built some momen... Mon, 7 Apr 2014 19:09:41 EST Week Three http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5660797 Note to self: be sure to enter weigh-ins on fitbit as well, or it may randomly decide to enter the old weight back into Spark.
100

Doing better with eating, for the most part. Had a few days where life got in the way of healthy, but overall this week was an improvement. I need to work on planning meals in advance better, so I don't end up in a position where life can get in the way so easily.

Slight improvement with my exercise, but not quite as much ... Mon, 31 Mar 2014 11:34:03 EST Week Two http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5655344 Started strong, but then fell apart in the middle due to life getting in the way, and ended the week up.
24
I did do well eating at the start of the week, though. And I did a half-hour exercise video (it was hard! but I finished it!) before stuff got nuts.

So, despite the scale not cooperating, I feel like a small bit of progress was made.

This week, I'm going to keep doing what I have been, but really concentrating on recording everything I'm ea... Mon, 24 Mar 2014 12:04:53 EST Week One http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5648782 First week completed. I still haven't managed to get my "before" picture or measurements, but I'm thinking I didn't change that much this week, so it'll be close enough.

Wasn't as consistent with anything as I would have liked, but it was an improvement over the week prior, so that's something.

I also just finished my first run. Little Bug wanted to go running, so I told him we'd go to the Y and do it. Well, we got there only to find that they'd closed 10 minutes ago. So... Sat, 15 Mar 2014 23:32:20 EST 12-week Fitness Quest! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5644003 Baby has arrived, and I've had time to recover. Got over the several colds I've had since baby arrived as well, so now it's time to start working on getting back in shape!

To help in that endeavor, I have purchased the 12-week Fit Journal from Blogilates.com. I know Spark tracks all that stuff, but something about keeping it in a book seems really motivating to me right now. And I have to say, the book is super nice (but definitely not for men). It also comes with a meal plan t... Sun, 9 Mar 2014 22:44:40 EST This Crazy Idea I Have... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5502497 Wow it's been awhile since I've written a blog. Oops.

I am not a runner. Never have been, never been that interested in being one, despite the fact that my dad, brothers, and several cousins all are. When I try to run, I am ridiculously slow, to the point where I can actually walk faster if it's over any sort of distance longer than a short sprint. I don't like traditional running shoes. They make my feet feel trapped, like they can't move right and are suffocating.

... Wed, 2 Oct 2013 12:48:53 EST Fitbit! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5316147 Apologies if this ends up not being coherent. I'm not feeling the greatest right now (have a sinus and ear infection and just generally feel like yuck), but I have the time and interest to write this now, so, here goes!

My husband got me the Fitbit One for my birthday! It arrived Thursday evening. I've been using it since then, and I'm pretty pleased with it so far.

It's tiny! And the clip stays VERY firmly attached to my pants. Those were some of my biggest gripes ... Mon, 8 Apr 2013 16:55:36 EST Streak into Spring? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5292783 Well, 5 days a week instead of 7, for the last 2 weeks. Big improvement over what I was doing. I intend to keep at it, except that...

..family is all sick now. Been super busy taking care of them and trying to get the house in order for visitors this weekend. Little Bug hasn't been sleeping well on top of that (poor guy has an ear infection, a nose infection, and an eye infection! He's on antibiotics now, so should be better real soon), which means I haven't been sleeping well... Tue, 19 Mar 2013 18:55:38 EST More Streak into Spring http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5282818 Been at this a week, and it's going pretty well.

Last Monday, I exercised, then I missed Tuesday and Wednesday, but every day since then I've managed to get at least 10 minutes of *something* in!

Even though I know it's not much (yet), I feel so much better after just a week of doing something every day.
334

Going to try to do a yoga video plus something else this week. We'll see how it goes.

On the down side, I grabbed my pedomet... Mon, 11 Mar 2013 16:42:18 EST Streak into Spring http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5273158 Just saw the DailySpark blog about the streak into spring challenge. I don't do the social media thing (I have a facebook, but I refuse to associate it with Spark, because I don't need/want to share my weight there), so I'm joining in here, even though I'm a couple days late.

Going to aim for a minimum of 10 minutes of exercise every day. Hopefully I can pull that off. So, #streakintospring (am I doing that part right? I don't get the whole hash tag thing...)

Edit:... Mon, 4 Mar 2013 18:31:12 EST End of Jan/Start of Feb http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5237596 Well, January started great, but ended up a complete fizzle, with my weight going up 3.2 lbs.
39
Not as bad as I feared, but still not good.

However, I am over my cold, and hopefully going to get back on track with this exercising thing for February.

Short blog for once, but not much to report at the moment.

381 386 Mon, 4 Feb 2013 18:25:26 EST 2012 Wrap-up http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5184806 Ended up having to take it easy through the end of the year, but I think we're all finally healthy. Huzzah!

All told, during 2012 I lost 21 lbs.
9 244
I've currently updated my tracker/goal to show what I accomplished in 2012. It'll stay that way for the rest of the week.

Then, I will update it to show my new goal of losing the last 15lbs by June.

I think I've finally managed to get some pretty good habits for eating and ex... Tue, 1 Jan 2013 21:07:07 EST Getting Back on Track http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5157250 I have been off-track for the last couple of months. No exercise to speak of, and not really watching what I'm eating. Mostly due to the fact that my entire family has been sick (at least one of us, often 2 or 3 at once) since the middle of September. Which has resulted in me gaining back around 2 lbs.
46
Which sucks.

But, at the same time, I've discovered a couple of pairs of pants that I had written off ever fitting again not only fit but one pair is act... Wed, 5 Dec 2012 15:23:44 EST Blog... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5120334 Haven't written one in a while. Don't have much to say right now, but I'm making myself write something because I want to write at least once a month.

Life has been nuts the past month. Not much sleep, no exercise to speak of. Did "ok" on food. Scale this morning said I gained 1.4 lbs. Meh. Not nearly as bad as I was afraid it would be, though.

Hopefully will be able to catch up on sleep a bit this weekend (especially with the time change! Yay gaining an hour...no... The pan with hot bacon grease in it. Which then splashed onto my wrists.

Ow!

It didn't burn me that badly, but I somehow scraped a layer of skin off one wrist when I instinctively tried to wipe the hot oil off of me. Super ouch!

The burns are just red now, and don't hurt. I'd be fine today, except for that stupid ga... Fri, 5 Oct 2012 23:11:44 EST It's October! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5083961 And September didn't go as badly as I was afraid it would. I lost 1.8 lbs for the month. And I made a good attempt at reforming my diet. For the week we stuck to the plan really well, it went great. We're looking forward to getting back to it, now that things are calming down a smidge.

The antibiotics were great for Little Bug. After 1 night, he only woke up once, and after 2 nights he was once again sleeping through the night without needing the cough syrup. Huzzah! And we'... Tue, 2 Oct 2012 15:03:34 EST I hate colds! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5075983 Especially when the baby has one.

He got sick last Sunday (the 16th), and while he's mostly over it, it has turned into a really nasty cough that gets a LOT worse at night and just doesn't. want. to. leave.

He's got a doctor's appointment this afternoon, and I really hope the doctor can suggest something to help Little Bug sleep, because last night was brutal.

Went to bed around 11 (later than I wanted to, but have relatives visiting today so I wanted to finis... Wed, 26 Sep 2012 15:29:53 EST September http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5056376 Well, we finally got our stuff together enough to start the Flat Belly Diet. 3 days in, and so far so good. I am going to skip the daily blogs, though, because I have realized that I just don't have time.

To baseline, I measured my waist, hips, and thigh. My husband measured his waist only. I'll post weekly updates on how much we lose.

On the exercise front, I'm working on the Hundred Pushups plan. I got the first week done, and then I've gotten busy. I really want... It helped.
30

While I'm still tired, I have managed to get some more sleep, and Little Bug is also back to sleeping through the night.
244

Will be starting September with new meal plans in place. Going to get those all sorted out this weekend. A month later than I had wanted, but baby makes it tough to find time.

Other thing I want to get out there, is Hubby and I now have a... Thu, 30 Aug 2012 13:52:04 EST Meh. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5029446 Despite the great start to the month, being sick combined with all the other stuff I have/had going on this month has probably eroded all my progress. And Little Bug hasn't been helping me with my sleep. Not looking forward to weighing in at the end of the month. And my awesome plan to set up a workout space for me fell apart due to the fact that apparently moving the old TV from the living room to the bedroom broke it even more so it doesn't work at all now.
24

... Fri, 24 Aug 2012 14:30:34 EST "Skinny" http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5005609 So disappointed in one of our Olympic swimmers.
39
Last night was watching one of those quasi-news shows that was on between the end of the "real" news (does it actually count as that, when they do a several minute piece about the gossip the Olympians are tweeting? anyway...) and the start of the Olympics coverage (which reminded me why I don't normally watch those kind of shows...), and they were interviewing one of the women on the US Olympic swimming team.

... Not nearly as much as I had hoped for, but progress is progress, and I'm still making it!

Hoping on Sunday to start my new diet plan. Whether or not it actually lives up to it's claims, I think I'll lose weight on it because it will help me stick to a healthy eating plan, which is something I've been struggling with. Fri, 27 Jul 2012 15:47:16 EST Lots of odds and ends (and starts) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4983842 Well, I think I broke the lack of sleep cycle. Had a friend visiting for a few days and ended up staying up REALLY late several times. Wioke up this morning, and was so tired I decided to take a sick day. Slept until around noon, and while I'm still tired, I feel much better. That was definitely the right choice to make. Now, I just need to make sure I get to bed earlier so I don't end up right back where I was.

Haven't weighed myself since the doctor's, but I'm guessing I hav... Tue, 17 Jul 2012 01:16:17 EST Break's Over, Back to Work! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4951852 Due to being sick, and then going on vacation (yay, vacation! How I needed that!), June pretty much ended up being a "break" month. I wasn't exercising all that much, wasn't paying that much attention to what I was eating (and indulged in my favorite potato chips, which can only be found in one part of the country, which is not where I live now), and I definitely wasn't tracking any of that.

So, it was with great trepidation that I stepped on the scale yesterday morning, expectin... I was able to get in some sort of exercise every day, though.

I also did not win the $300 gift card.

I did, though, manage to exercise nearly every day this month, and I lost an inch from my waist. So, even though I didn't get the giftcard, I think I still won.

I'll wait until the end of the month to weigh... Mon, 28 May 2012 22:02:00 EST End of the Experiment http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4891618 Well, It's been 4 weeks of trying to do the "Flat Abs Fast" program from "Fitness" magazine. I have not been nearly as consistent with it as I had hoped to be. However, most of that has been due to also doing the "Spring Into Shape" Bootcamp challenge at the same time.

After 4 weeks of doing the exercises an average of 1.5 times a week (half what I wanted to/the magazine recommends), I have to say I am pretty happy with it. They are HARD exercises, even doing the "easy" version.... Mon, 21 May 2012 15:50:51 EST End of Week 4 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4880120 One week left in my experiment. I have not been as consistent as I would have liked, but so far things are pointing to this being a good workout. No change in my waist this week, though.

Got sick at the end of the week, and had to take a couple of days off. Which means I won't be able to check off having done everything for the second week of the bootcamp. Which means I won't get the nifty trophy to show on my spark page.
39

That aside, I'm still goin... Mon, 14 May 2012 00:25:36 EST Ugh, Part 2 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4875962 Less whine this time, I promise.
30

Well, I got to take a nice long nap yesterday. That helped me feel a lot better. I did exercise on Tuesday, and yesterday as well. Planning to exercise today. And my abs exercise routine will count as the bonus video. WhooHoo!

But, of course, I seem to be coming down with a cold now. Probably caught from the Little Bug. And hopefully neither of us have the throat infection the Little Bug's uncle had and is now ta... Thu, 10 May 2012 18:35:31 EST Ugh http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4872779 *warning: this post is going to be whiny venting*

I thought parents were supposed to be able to sleep more when the baby got older? Apparently not me. Little Bug has decided that if he's not nursed to sleep, he's going to scream bloody murder when you put him in his crib and not sleep. And, of course, he won't go to sleep until 10 or 10:30. And then he wakes up again around 2:30.

Which is so wonderful, when I want to be in bed by 9:30, and I keep trying to get up at ... Tue, 8 May 2012 18:15:39 EST End of week 3 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4868890 Short post today, cuz I'm writing it from my phone.

Didn't do the magazine exercises as much as I'd hoped/planned to, but I am doing the bootcamp, so I got exercise every day this week.

Lost another half inch from my waist! And the pants that didn't fit a month or so ago are now starting to feel a tad loose.

WhooHoo! Sun, 6 May 2012 13:00:18 EST Reward http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4866198 These

look like the comfiest pants ever. I have a pair that is similar, which is pretty comfy. These look like they take everything I like about the pants I currently have, and add all the good parts of yoga pants.

And they come in purple! (if you can't tell, I like purple 20 ).

They cost more than I normally like to spend on pants, though. As much as I (think I) like them, I don... Fri, 4 May 2012 11:25:32 EST End of April http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4859191 Here we are, at the end of another month. I've got a month and a half left to get to my goal.

First, April wrap-up:
Weight - lost 1 1/4 lbs this month.
Measurements - lost 1/2" from my waist
Exercise - getting much more, and doing it regularly
Food - getting better at tracking, if not planning

So, the scale didn't move as much as I had hoped. The 1/2" off my waist is pretty nice, though. And, even if that ab exercise program doesn't deliver on the ... Mon, 30 Apr 2012 11:47:35 EST
