I kind of already knew I had this sugar problem, but really did not acknowledge it. What hit it for me was doing the cleanse right before Thanksgiving. Well, the pricey gym changed the fitness class schedule beginning this month, so I had to figure out what to do. I am not really a Zumba person for my work out. Don't get me wrong, Zumba is a blast, but does not provide the weight training I desire. I used to take TRX... Mon, 3 Sep 2012 09:30:11 EST Yesterday was not my best food day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5041111 That is definitely an understatement. But I'm okay. I knew yesterday was not going to be good based on what we had planned. So, I let go a little (yep, 4 chocolate frosted rice krispie treats and a box of Good n' Plenty, well maybe I let go a lot). But I should be good with the sweets for a while now. Back on track today and heading to the gym for some cardio. One day does not derail my success so far. As long as I stick to my eating plan the rest of the week, yesterday's damage will no... My 14 pants are big, but the 12 pants are too snug. It wouldn’t be so bad, but I think I’ve hit a plateau too. So here I sit with pants that don’t really fit. It could be worse, I could be where I was a few months ago where the 14 pants were really snug.

I’m not sure what to make of this plateau. It’s so frustrating to believe you are following your eating plan c... By definition I’m pretty confident she would be considered morbidly obese. I remember how big I was and I would put here in a similar weight range. Her parents would like me to talk to her about losing weight. I know that unless she is ready to face her weight and commit to the needed changes, there is really little point to it. I have been in h... Thu, 30 Aug 2012 09:22:19 EST 3500 Calories = 1 Pound…Really???? Two Steps Forward, One Step Back http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5035664

3500 calories is supposed to be the magic number for losing (or gaining) weight. Even with that number so firmly decided upon by science, I’m not convinced it applies to me. It seems, based on my experience, that it takes LESS than 3500 calories to gain a pound and MORE than 3500 calories to lose a pound. Just my personal observation. It seems like one bad eating day can derail an entire week of eating well. ... Wed, 29 Aug 2012 08:04:29 EST Fat Free Should Not Be the Default Choice http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5034386

Some fat free foods are gross. Take fat free Miracle Whip for example. It’s kind of like jelly in its consistency. That is just not appetizing to me. At some point during my weight loss journey I came to the realization that certain fat free foods are just not worth it….like the Miracle Whip. I like Miracle whip, just not the fat free. Same goes for fat free mayo. So I buy the low fat version. The consis... Tue, 28 Aug 2012 09:45:11 EST Can Someone Be Good ALL the Time? Perfection is an unattainable delusion that is best thought of in hypothetical terms. I don’t always stay within my calorie range. Last weekend the marshmallows derailed an otherwise pretty good eating day. Those soft, sweet, yummy little devils got me. I ate 12 and not the mini ones! Do I regret it? Yeah, the last six for sure. Why did I eat them? That is one of life’s little m... Mon, 27 Aug 2012 08:44:43 EST Sustainability – Lessons I am still learning http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5028927 After being on this weight loss journey now for about three and a half years now, I have learned some things. Some have been learned the hard way, some have been learned when I got lost, and some I’m still figuring out. While I ditched Weight Watchers in June, I did learn quite a bit through the program. Here are a few things I learned:

1 .You can’t lose weight one way and expect to keep it off another way – Thanks Mara! Mara (one of my WW leaders) said this often and it is... I need to do a better job of choosing my attitude and not let it choose me. Deciding how I want to be, or how I want my day to go would be a step forward. Having the attitude all day may be a challenge, but at least my day will start o... Thu, 23 Aug 2012 09:47:30 EST
