I'm sad, sorry and disappointed with myself. I need to figure out how to rekindle the fire I had when I started and remember the joy I felt with my success. I was never a speed runner or marathon runner, but I ran and it made me feel good and I lost the weight!

I moved recently to a neighborhood that doesn't have the paved trails I used to run on and I feel the fear and apprehension of running where people can see me once agai... Mon, 4 Nov 2013 08:28:19 EST Warrior Dash http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4912931 I had been eyeing the various runs with obstacles such as the Warrior Dash, the Rebel Run, the Dirty Girls Mud Run....... I really wanted to do one! I finally found one fairly close to me and mentioned it to my friend who immediately said I should invite her daughter who is finishing up grad school and slightly stressed.... so I had motive and company! I asked my husband if he wanted to do the Warrior Dash with me and he surprised me with a yes! Then I mentioned it to my girlfriends other ... Tue, 5 Jun 2012 10:05:33 EST Sugar, sugar and more sugar..... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4623705 Ugh.... I'm just going to say it. My Mother-in-Law sent us two boxes of Christmas treats. Fudge, divinity, peanut brittle and some other things. I know she means well (I think) but she also knows me and my husband have changed our eating habits. I broke weak and had some of the fudge (ok......a lot of fudge). Kinda acted like a deprived, starving person..... I love chocolate and can't just have a bit. I know better, but couldn't stop myself. I've got to get rid of it but feel bad abou... Tue, 13 Dec 2011 07:47:18 EST My daughter is starting the C25K!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4498367 I'm just about to celebrate my one year anniversary on Spark (9/30) and when I decided to join spark, I jumped in feet first. (Kinda like I live life.) I read and read articles, blogs, took quizes, everything I could get my hands on. I started the C25K and have since run three 5K's and am adding distance every week. I lost almost 50 lbs. (I want to say 50 because that sounds more significant than 48, so I say almost.....)

My journey started out alone and not because I wante... Thu, 22 Sep 2011 11:44:25 EST Police Pace 5K 9/11/11 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4480486 I completed my 3rd 5K this past Sunday, 9/11/11, which was a great day to run a race and be with so many other American runners (almost 650 people!) The race was very different than the previous ones I had done in almost every way. My sister-in-law, Christy, who is a great runner, and her husband, Troy, who is very athletic, came to visit us and go to my sons college football game. They were hoping to see him play, but he didn't get in...

Even though we partied like rock stars... He told me that unless I plan to do a triathalon, I wouldn't be able to run on my regular path. I figured he was over exagerating because he normally does.... and agreed to go to the gym and use the treadmills. I guess he was right this time.

Here is what used to be my path! It's down there somewhere on the other side of the river, under 2-3 feet of water.

<img src="http://photos-a... Thu, 8 Sep 2011 11:41:58 EST Struggling to run http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4419376 I have been wanting to add some distance to my running for awhile and seem to be struggling with that terribly bad. My IT Band has decided that it only likes me to run around 2-3 miles and then it starts hurting. I have to stop because of the pain it causes. It never hurts other than when I've run 2-3 miles so I really didn't feel like going to the doctor with it. I did reach out to Sparkies that might have had the same problem and got some great recommendations that I am trying to stick ... Wed, 10 Aug 2011 18:34:17 EST My daughter, the Chef...??? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4364684 My 17 year old daughter is very industrious and has taught herself several things, such as knitting...(I am not very crafty.) She was touched by the movie "Julie and Julia" but knew that her dad and I having lost over 40 lbs each would not likely partake in the recipes of Julia Child's cookbook. So she silently set out on a quest. She went to the book store and browsed through the cooking books till she found one called "Cooking Light Fresh Food Fast" It is written by the Editors of Cooki... Fri, 15 Jul 2011 13:24:23 EST ....so that didn't work like I had planned it! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4312494 I love running on the trails by my house. I don't have to cross roads and the trails are newly paved and wide so there's plenty of room for runners, walkers and bikers. Lately, I have been feeling so guilty when I lace up my shoes and get ready to head out. My dog, Hazel, knows that I am going out and starts begging me to take her with me! It's pathetic, really. I have taken her many times and just walked my route and she seemed pretty energetic and spry for the 10-year old girl that she... Tue, 21 Jun 2011 08:20:38 EST Running shorts http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4167278 Since I have been working out, I believe that I feel more like a fit person if i actually wear the right kind of clothes. Plus, all those people that run wouldn't be wearing the same "running clothes" if there wasn't something good about wearing them. I looked at my spark running friends' pages to see what they were wearing.

I searched my drawers and couldn't find anything that I thought would be suitable for running outside. I went to my daughters drawer and found some black n... Fri, 15 Apr 2011 09:23:53 EST My first time running outside, April 7th, 2011. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4150307 Finally I did what I have been wanting to do for a long time. I ran outside! It was a beautiful day here in Maryland and everything is starting to bloom. I have been so anxious about this first run that I could barely get myself to go outside and just start running. I actually walked up a couple of houses and went between them on a path so I could start in a spot that no one would be able to see me.

I struggled at first with a pace since I have only been on a treadmill which ... Thu, 7 Apr 2011 20:49:42 EST My running breakthrough. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4128651 Last night I went to do my normal run, but when I set my treadmill up and started running, I felt like it was going way to slow and possibly broke? I turned the speed up a few and then a few more and then a few more till it felt right. But I could tell by my numbers that the machine wasn't really broken. I just felt stronger and faster and more comfortable running than I have ever felt since I started running back in September. It could be the new shoes? It could be that I try hard to ha... Wed, 30 Mar 2011 09:26:30 EST Sugar Free Strawberry Jelly http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4095874 My husband usually does all the grocery shopping for the family and since I have been on spark I have tried to get him to make smart choices at the grocery store. It is finally starting to sink in, I can tell!! He came home last night and was so proud of his discovery. Sugar Free Strawberry Jelly. He did a calorie comparison right at the store and the sugar free jelly has 1/5th of the calories that the regular stuff does. So for lunch today I had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and an... Wed, 16 Mar 2011 11:37:24 EST I finally did it... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4053439 I have been needing to go shopping for some new clothes for a few weeks now, but just didn't get myself to the store. I finally went Sunday and bought some new pants and tops for work and for casual times with the family.

I also went through my closet and took out the stuff that is too big for me. I haven't yet taken it to goodwill, but I'm going to..... I promise! Mon, 28 Feb 2011 08:12:27 EST Missed Opportunity http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4046705 The other night, my daughters best friend was over and when her mother picked her up, we visited. She said to me "You look like you've lost a lot of weight!" These are the words we all dream of hearing. I have read about everyones struggles to respond to this type of a statement and had even thought of how I would respond if/when it ever was said to me. Why is it that I sheepishly turned my head and said, "yeah, a little bit." Then she asked me "How much?" I told her around 30 pounds.... Fri, 25 Feb 2011 10:45:10 EST I made my goal!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3946761 This morning I weighed myself (even though it's not my weigh in day..) and the scale said 150!! Almost 30 pounds lost. Yeah, I was so excited, but nervous also..... That was the goal I set when I joined sparkpeople. My cruise with my husband is in one day, so I barely made it.

Now what? I'm pretty anxious about the next step in this journey for me. I've been here before, but have never been able to maintain myself at a decent weight. Every time I have made it here, I have gi... Fri, 21 Jan 2011 09:39:25 EST
