What to do? I wasn't feeling great this morning and didn't want to go out to get something to fix, so I decided to go, get it set up, and get it started, (you know, welcome everyone, get someone to pray over the food, etc.) and then come home. I've done it before and it works pretty well, usually.
43
BUT I found out this afternoon that some of my friends who never go to potlucks anymore, were coming to this one. Well, I can't let my fri... Tue, 11 Jun 2013 18:49:31 EST One week down...reached a compromise http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5385306 I consider this a successful week. I ate out at Denny's once, had a piece and a half of cake at a graduation party, and a piece of cake and some sherbet at a birthday party. But I stayed in or below calorie range.
20
I started the week with one day of water only fasting. This was a spiritual thing, but also enabled me to enjoy the taste of food afterward. If you've been eating a bunch of junk and want to switch to healthy, it helps if you are hungry. I've heard it said ... Tue, 11 Jun 2013 00:26:24 EST I made a stand, but can I stand here? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5379837 Okay, my friend called me today and suggested eating out. I ate out with him yesterday. We went to Denny's, a frequent stand-by. I had the turkey and avocado grilled sandwich. When I checked at home to see how many calories were in it, SHOCK! THERE ARE 800 CALORIES IN THE SANDWICH ALONE. Fortunately I was able to minimize the damage and stay within my calorie range, but it sure was an eye-opener.
40
So when he called and asked if I wanted to eat out, I said NO. This is... Thu, 6 Jun 2013 01:34:01 EST Okay, I finally bit the bullet http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5377085 Well, I've been biting everything else, so I finally subscribed to an internet service. I have been relying on the free wi-fi in my building and it has become almost non-existent. That is why I haven't been Sparking lately, or it is the main reason. I'm glad to be back.
213
My first year of Spark has come to an end. It went great at first. I lost 40 lbs and arrived in Onederland in September. By November I had lost 51 lbs to hit 189. I felt great. I was starting to look... Mon, 3 Jun 2013 18:19:46 EST To Steph-knee and the red shoes bunch. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5343776 I'm not forgetting our challenges. I'll be working on my end and rooting for all of you while I'm away. We can (and will) do this thing. I love you all,
Keep sparking!
Janet

Thu, 2 May 2013 22:49:34 EST To my SparkFriends http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5343763 The internet went out in my building and I'm waiting to (hopefully) get it back. Until then I will rarely be able to check in with you. Please do not worry about me, I am doing better than I have in quite a while. Since I have been having a lot of trouble sticking to a vegan diet, I am doing something a little different, but trying to eat fruits and vegetables and starches as much as possible.
24
So hopefully when the internet comes back to me, I will come back to you ... Thu, 2 May 2013 22:29:54 EST Reality Check...groan http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5325503 If anyone has visited my SparkPage, you might have noticed that I finally changed my ticker to over 200. Yes, I'm back in Twoterville and have been for a while. I had determined that I wouldn't move my ticker until I could move it down, but it wasn't happening, so I moved it up to the +27 lbs that I gained. I was hoping to move steadily back to Onederland and then on to 190 where I was when the holidays swamped me.
15 24
I also decided to post my real chro... Tue, 16 Apr 2013 17:35:34 EST Take it where you can get it. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5322314 I was walking through Walmart today. You know those little TVs that are motion activated that start playing a commercial when you walk past?: Well, I walked past one and it said "Yummy." I said "Thank you," That's not the way I generally think of myself, but I'll take a compliment any time I can get one. 211 Sat, 13 Apr 2013 23:33:05 EST Amazing, I am still in awe http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5273691 I don't know what to say about this video. I just know I had to share it. I have not had much luck sharing videos in the past, so if it doesn't work, please ask MOMFAN how to get it. She shared it with me. It is only about 10 min. and more than worth your time.
God bless you all,
Janet

Tue, 5 Mar 2013 00:56:06 EST But it was supposed to be HAM! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5143903 First, let me thank all my wonderful SparkFriends who sent me goodies and/or commented on my sparkpage or activity feed wishing me a happy Thanksgiving and leaving me encouragement. I am so blessed by every one of you.
247 220
My DD Merry and I decided that neither of us wanted to go to the trouble of a turkey or stuffing. Wed, 24 Oct 2012 23:47:37 EST Be Careful What You Dream http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5087296 Yesterday I read Cock-Robin's blog Dreams and Nightmares. I told him I would write a blog inspired by that and share my long-time dream. I don't want to because I see now what a pathetic, selfish, sad thing it really was.
39
Okay then, I said often and for years that my dream was to own a library where I could read all the time and have food delivered to me every day so I could eat all I wanted, no matter how fat I got, because I would never go out and no one would come... Fri, 5 Oct 2012 00:23:54 EST If you're over 30 you'll want to read this, maybe even if you're not. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5000305 I bought a Vogue magazine this morning. There was an article about a 101 year old woman. She said she had taught a class in Jewish humor. Here is one of her--apparently true--stories.
The mother of a famous daughter was being interviewed. The interviewer said, "You're very young looking, how old are you."
The woman said, "I'm 48."
The interviewer said, "But your daughter is 52."
She answered, "Well, she leads her life; I lead mine." 30

So, on my next... Mon, 23 Jul 2012 01:35:32 EST See, my tumble went like this... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4952910 July 1 was my grandson's birthday party. We had a barbecue in their back yard. My daughter works with someone who rents bouncy houses. You know, the ones that blow up and kids jump around in them. Well, after the party my daughter wanted me to get in it with her. I have always wanted to jump around in a bouncy house. So, even though my knees hurt, I decided to try to get in it.
So, I took off my shoes and socks, and put my left knee up on the step, then my right knee, but I couldn't go... Tue, 3 Jul 2012 00:54:27 EST Peel, chop, heat, voila! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4948478 I have felt for a long time that healthy vegan is the best way for ME to eat. But unfortunately I have been a meat lover, a cheese lover, and a fast food, junk food junkie. But for this past month I have been nearly totally staying vegan. I don't like to cook, either, which often led to my downfall because it's so much easier to run to Walmart for sandwich fixin's or to McDonald's. Both are about a block from my apartment.
So now I'm actually cooking. A couple nights ago, I was really im... Sat, 30 Jun 2012 02:13:21 EST I set myself up for a fall. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4940865 After church Saturday night we celebrated my grandson Kirby's 3rd birthday with ice cream and cake. I stayed out of the kitchen and only accepted the serving given to me. I had pretty much planned that I would do that. So, we're good.
But there was a lady there selling Burger King coupon books to raise funds for her kids to go to church camp. They were only $5 and I felt I should help. Now I could have just given her $5, or I could have bought one and given it to my son and his family. ... Sun, 24 Jun 2012 23:35:04 EST Boy, was I surprised! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4927189 I was getting dressed this morning. I sat down on my bed and swung my foot up on my opposite knee to put my sock on. I did it without thinking. I haven't been able to do that for months. I was dragging it up by pulling on my pantleg, if I had a pantleg. Sometimes I had to bend way over and do the best I could.

Then I did it again with the other leg. I'm so happy. This has been the first real sign of progress. And I've only lost 13 pounds. (5 was before I joined SP.) AND I reached ... Fri, 15 Jun 2012 02:40:28 EST Just get started http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4914143 That's what I need to do, just get started. I joined this on May 31 after my daughter posted Sparkpeople on Facebook. Then I did nothing with it. I ate well a few days and lost a little weight, but someone said, Let's eat at Denny's. So, sure, why not? Then there was the coupon for two sourdough burgers for the price of one. Hey, if you're going to go on a diet, you need to use that first, right? So I did. But no more.
Then of course, there is exercise. Usually I start out walking, but... Wed, 6 Jun 2012 02:01:57 EST
