DOROELLIS's SparkPeople Blog DOROELLIS's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community To my baby, Well, it's official. We are perfect candidates for IVF, but we will need TESE and ICSI. And the grand total is roughly $17,000.

There are options for financing, and getting "two-for-one," but there are also one or two grants out there to help people who cannot conceive the normal way. For two of them that we've decided to apply for, we need to write a letter to our future baby.

This is what we came up with:

Dear Baby Ellis,

Your mommy and daddy ha... Sun, 19 May 2013 15:53:16 EST Falling into place I decided to take May off of work and school so that I could really get down to planning my wedding. I wanted to have a venue by the end of this week. And I have one! Wedding and reception venue in one for convenience.

They didn't have an opening in October, but they had one in September, so we will be married September 21st. This is actually kinda great, because that will be our 11 year anniversary. We were originally aiming to have the wedding around his fall break, but I guess t... Thu, 9 May 2013 20:09:44 EST Who knows Advocare? I'm one of several children, and we were all very close while growing up. As we've become adults, we've separated a little. Yesterday, I heard from my older sister for the first time in about a month. She's lost 15 pounds (Go Sis!), and 24 inches overall (WOW!) in the past couple of months.
When she first told me this, I cleaned out my ears, and asked her to repeat herself. She has often had as much problems with losing weight as I do. She has to work really hard, and track every bite. ... Wed, 17 Apr 2013 15:20:34 EST Prepping for Vendors I am beginning to look at places to have the wedding. And I realized I know nothing about what to ask. So I went around, looking at "Must Ask" questions. Many of these are good. Some have overlap. But I still ended up with several categories: General, Pricing, Accommodation/Accessibility, Food and Beverage, and Entertainment. I'm posting them here.
Maybe I went a little overboard?

Important Venue Questions:

General questions
1. Are our preferred dates availabl... Thu, 4 Apr 2013 09:56:01 EST Insanity Day 2/P90X Day 2 After further consideration I've decided to MOSTLY follow the P90X program, but instead of doing P90X cardio, I’m substituting Insanity workouts. I've gone to, the main website for both Insanity and P90X and found that many people do both on the same day, and intersperse them.

Day 2 of P90X is a plyometric workout. Day 2 of Insanity is a Plyometric Cardio Circuit. It’s funny to see the similarities in the two programs. I went with the Insanity Plyometric Cardio Circu... Wed, 3 Apr 2013 10:00:55 EST P90X Chest and Back with Ab Ripper X I’m following the Insanity and P90X workouts in the order they are given, but alternating. Today was P90X Chest and Back with Ab Ripper X.
P90X workouts are set up into two parts. You go one round through, and then through it again. The first number is from the first time around. The second number is from the second round. For the pull-ups I used a chair. All push-ups are on knees except the Decline Push-Up.

1. Standard Push-ups (modifies on knees) 15/10
2. Wide Front ... Tue, 2 Apr 2013 10:55:17 EST Weights and Measures I'm combing two very difficult exercise programs that are designed for fast results. So I weighed myself yesterday. But then I remembered, muscle mass weighs more than fat mass. I might be trimmer, but weigh more. So here are my stats for "Before" and I took a picture as well. I'll give an update at one month.

Weight: 187.2 pounds
(In inches)
Neck: 14
Chest: 35
Upper arm: 13.5
Waist: 35
Hips: 49
Thigh: 26
Calf: 17

<img src="http:/... Tue, 2 Apr 2013 07:42:50 EST Insanity Day 1 After deciding that something new needs to be done to get of my 187 plateau. I'm trying a mix of Insanity and P90X. Today I took the Insanity fitness test. All I can say is that it is aptly named. I got a great workout with just the fitness test. So here's my scores for day 1.

Weigh in - 187.2

Warm-up (butt kicks, knee highs and jumping jacks...made it through all right)

Switch Kicks : 45

Power Jumping Jacks: 36 (I kept going but my form suffered at... Mon, 1 Apr 2013 10:27:58 EST Insanity, weddings, blood type and more The weekend was fairly uneventful. Standard, staying in and doing homework, while trying to spend time with family we hardly get to see.

My weight fluctuates, I know this. But I really hate it when it fluctuates the wrong way, or doesn't move at all. This past week, the scale went down 0.1 pound, which to me, is no movement. Well, I spent less time exercising than I should have. I know that. And I went over my calorie range once last week. But I feel like even with that one splurg... Mon, 1 Apr 2013 08:30:43 EST Planning in...semi...full swing Well, I have a date, I have a theme. That's a start. I have a matron of honor and three brides matrons (so everyone I know and love is married already.).
We have decided to go with a medieval/renaissance theme for the wedding, which I think has the potential to be totally awesome. We're going to emphasize bright colors and nature. I plan on having ivy in my hair and in my bouquet, accented with herbs and a few flowers, but mostly greenery. Same goes for all the plants.
Still don't... Thu, 28 Mar 2013 21:22:13 EST I have a date! So we got married after 10 + years together. We ran up to the Justice of the Peace and made it legal. We said that we'd have a ceremony for the family. We went to the JP because I needed to get health insurance.
We narrowed it down to August or October. Then we narrowed it to October. Now I have a date. October 19th.
Now to get to the details. Fri, 22 Mar 2013 19:38:07 EST Happy St. Pat's!

Happy St. Pat's!

Remember to drink, and eat, responsibly today. Don't forget to exercise.

I was feeling really good yesterday, I'm almost completely done with my cold. AND, I guess because I tried so hard with my food last week, I did see the 186.6! I was so happy. That's the lowest yet. A few more pounds, and I'll weigh less than I have in five years. Come on 170s! Sun, 17 Mar 2013 11:19:30 EST Mid-Week Slump I've been off for about half a week. Kinda checking in here, but mostly not doing anything. Between getting really busy, then sick, I haven't felt like I had much time. I'm not deathly ill, just have a stuffy head, a sore throat and slight fever. I thought I was doing better, but got worse again. Ah well.
I'm going to take it easy for a little while until I'm sure that I'm better so I don't go back downhill. But it's not excuse to binge on M&Ms like I did earlier today. In fact, I'm ash... Wed, 13 Mar 2013 14:54:36 EST Days 4 & 5 of habit building 4) How are you doing day by day?

Most of the days so far, I have done well. Until today. Today I have been ill and nothing has been done. Most days, I've gotten all but maybe one or two items done. I'll be easy on myself today since I've been laid up in bed all day.

5) What can you improve upon?

I need to reevaluate what can be done in a day. If I'm consistently missing one or two items, there must be a reason. My expectations may be too high, or maybe my baby... Wed, 6 Mar 2013 19:09:35 EST Encouraging myself to stay on track To help develop my new habit, I am going to reward myself along the way. Everyday that I finish all of my "to do" I will give myself a reward. I will take the time to do something I enjoy, that I don't get to do very often, whether its more time to "surf" the internet, or reading a book. Mon, 4 Mar 2013 13:56:59 EST How to nip procrastination in the butt I think that my goal for my new habit to stop procrastinating may be quite a problem to overcome. Like many procrastinators, I'm sure, I've tried to get rid of it before, and it somehow seeps back into my life. The goal is to make a new, timely, habit that can be applied to all aspects of my life, from weight loss to wedding planning to writing. So here is my plan to help me beat procrastination.

1. First I have to realize that no job is so overwhelming if I can just break it down... Sun, 3 Mar 2013 15:19:15 EST What new habit do you wish to develop? For the Winter/Spring 5% challenge, I'd like to develop a new habit. While it may have nothing to do with losing weight, it also has everything to do with losing weight. I want to make a habit of doing things that need to be done. I have a tendency to procrastinate.

I'll put of exercising until "later" and then later never comes. I'll put off doing the clothes until I don't have anything clean that is decent to wear outside, so it becomes an all day affair, when doing it regularly... Sat, 2 Mar 2013 17:52:14 EST Little things, and other ramblings Every thing I read keeps telling me that it's the little things that add up to success. Be it in weight loss, changing habits, or anything else you set your mind to.
And I realized, that maybe the "little things" are what is keeping me from losing weight as quickly. 1. I'll take a BITE of cookie or other sweet when I need something sweet, it's not much by itself, but it adds up over time, especially if I am not near my computer and forget to put it in my nutrition tracker. 2. I work on ... Mon, 25 Feb 2013 19:02:54 EST Homework, and other things Okay, well, this post is going to meander for a little while. And really, I don't care. So there.

I have a new nephew, Theodore, born Feb 13th at 11:58 pm, 8 lb, 8oz and 22 inches long. Big baby.

I had a good Valentines day. My hubby bought me a green frog baloon (best present ever!!! Seriously, it's uber cute.)

And oh yeah, my brain feels like mush. It's probably because I'm learning H... Tue, 19 Feb 2013 21:06:39 EST Happy Valentine's Day Well, it's a bit early for me, but I'd like to wish everyone a happy Valentine's Day!

129

Valentine's isn't just for lovers, it's for self love to. So if you don't have someone special, treat yourself to something nice.

My first Valentines as a married woman and....we're spending it at home. Our concession to V-day? We're having a special meal that we both enjoy: Lasagna, which ordinarily takes too long to make for me to bother. And we'll finish... Wed, 13 Feb 2013 22:00:44 EST A day at the aquarium And now the ball is rolling. We have taken an official step towards having a baby. DH is going to the dr in Miami to see if he can father children. They will also be able to advise us on how to proceed from there. I'm hoping the answer is yes, and so does he.
We discussed children today again, he swears any children of ours will be smart as a whip, reading at the age of three. And he wants a boy. He won't admit it out loud, but when I suggested his father would like to see someone carry ... Sat, 9 Feb 2013 19:51:51 EST Goals February It's a little late to be posting it, but this is so I can be held accountable. Even my January goals are still up on my desktop. I'll remedy that shortly. To point though. I have had my February goals ready by January 30, the same day I wrote my January goal review.

February Goals
1. Write 1 full sci-fi or fantasy short story
2. Examine short story markets and pick three (in order) to submit to
3. Write at least 170 words a day (keep track/average)
4. Ex... Thu, 7 Feb 2013 13:22:39 EST Goal Review Well, the month is almost over. And so far, I've kept within most of my goals.
These were January Goals:
1. Buy books for graduate classes
2. Keep up with homework
3. Organize bills and receipts
4. exercise 3 days strength/3 days cardio
5. Lose 6-10 pounds this month
6. Call Cigna about fertility coverage

What happened?
1. Books were bought, and classes paid for.
2. It's ongoing, but so far, no late work (and all 100s!)
3. N... Wed, 30 Jan 2013 14:12:27 EST Finding My Groove Sometimes no matter how hard you work, you hit a plateau. Or even, in my case, some times you still gain weight. January started out great. My first weigh-in I was down three pounds. The next time, I didn't lose at all. This time, I've gained four pounds (technically, 3.6).

I'm not going to let this get to me. I weigh every day, and there's usually some up and down within a pound or two. However, looking back at other weigh ins, I have noticed that I do gain just before that time... Sun, 20 Jan 2013 09:30:13 EST With the Good comes the bad. Well, they say bad things come in threes. I'm beginning to think that's true. Although I had great happy news with my wedding, we have had a serious (or two...) setback.

1. Our furbaby Spooky got sick, and after spending nearly $700 he's home from the hospital. He had bladder stones and a UTI. My poor baby must have been in serious pain.

2. My husband (I actually started typing fiance) is a teacher. His boss had a serious talk with him. They told him, basically, that he'... Sat, 12 Jan 2013 19:15:59 EST A Wonderful Day for a Wedding Yesterday, my fiance and I went to the courthouse and tied the knot. Considering it was the middle of January, it was a beautiful day. The sun was shining, there was a light breeze, and our parents were there, as well as my younger sister and her family.
I can't even begin to describe how happy I was. We've only known each other 10 years, and have only been engaged for 2. haha. But I very nearly cried. My mother did cry.
Afterwards, we went to Olive Garden. We aren't going on a ho... Sat, 12 Jan 2013 09:37:21 EST It's Official Well, we are officially getting married a week from Friday. I'm so excited. It's only the Justice of the Peace, but we will have a ceremony latter that I'm considering letting his mother plan, she wants to so badly.

I gotta go, I'm going dress shopping. :) Thu, 3 Jan 2013 09:41:10 EST Coming soon in 2013

This is the year. I'm not nearly as far in my weightloss journey as I would like to be, but I didn't regain over Christmas, and that makes me happy. The picture above will be my desktop picture for the month of January. It contains a pretty wintery picture of a fairy and dragon on one side with my goals for January/2013 on the other.

The big goal, whether I lose weight or not, is our intention to TRY fo... Sat, 29 Dec 2012 10:13:59 EST Going through the closet...and seeing results! I have been meaning to rearrange/cleanout the closet for a while. I wanted to weed out clothes that were too small. And see what I still had. Maybe just put the smaller clothes away for WHEN I'm smaller.
And I saw results that I hadn't expected. While I have been keeping track of my measurements, the numbers are only a small part of what losing weight means.
Earlier this year, I bought a pencil skirt, that was almost too tight to wear, but wore it anyway. This was a while ago. Now,... Tue, 18 Dec 2012 09:27:55 EST Holidays 2012 This year, my fiance and I bought a house. While we weren't the only ones from my side of the family to do this, we were the only ones who hadn't hosted a holiday. With that in mind, this year is definitely making up for it. But I'm happy to have a haven when things start to go haywire.
We officially hosted Thanksgiving with my family, with a short visit from a few members of his family. We then went to his parents house to spend some time with his family before they left for the holida... Mon, 17 Dec 2012 07:08:32 EST Time to Prepare Just over two months ago, I wrote about how my fiancé gave me whiplash over wanting (and then not wanting) children. Earlier this week, he brought up the subject again. I’m not going to get over-excited about this. He said he wants kids, but we still have work to do.

First, there are problems to overcome:
1. He’s in a wheelchair, and some fertility problems come with that.
2. I’ve been diagnosed with PCOS, and there are some problems that can come with that. I’m on medi... Sat, 8 Dec 2012 21:49:03 EST Saying Goodbye Not to SP, but to a pet. This semester I have helped my fiance's mother bury two of her beloved cats. And while I could sympathize up to a point, I did live with them for a time, but where do you draw the line?

The first time, she was so distraught that I had to lay Miss Squeak in the ground. We knew it was coming, the cat had been having problems for over a year. I went with his mother to put the cat down. It was the worst experience of my life. His mother is deaf. And this is imp... Sat, 1 Dec 2012 11:35:27 EST Tired of Being Sick Okay, I'm tired and achy because I was up all night coughing...again. Is my immune system so sucky that I just keep getting sick? Is it the same cold that keeps pretending to leave? I don't care. But for almost two months I've been sick, getting better, in a cycle that is ending today. I have health insurance. I'm going to the doctor.

The only plus is the my go-to comfort food is not a food, but hot tea. It's been my best friend these past two months. Also, with being sick so often... Thu, 29 Nov 2012 07:38:04 EST Officially Under 200!!!! I hit a milestone today! While I usually weigh everyday, it helps me maintain perspective about weight fluctuations and is motivating to workout, today was my first weigh-in day under 200. I came in at 198.6.

And all I can say is... 244

Hahaha. It feels great to be finally under 200. While I'm not on track to meet my ultimate goal, I keep losing weight. The scale is going in the right direction. I also lost another inch off my hips. 334
... Sat, 17 Nov 2012 22:11:30 EST Not just weightloss. Today I had a two week checkup since my official diagnosis of PCOS. According to their scale I've lost 8 pounds since starting those meds and my new diet, which is a permanent change. According to their scale I weighed in at 201! I was so psyched I went home to my scale and weighed in at 201. While I'm not recording it officially yet, this is the lowest I've been in three years.

And while those numbers mean much, what is really telling is my reflection. I can actually see the chan... Mon, 22 Oct 2012 14:33:20 EST Motivation and more :) Okay, I'm happy. Nothing is quite so motivating as seeing the numbers on the scale retreat. And (surprise, surprise) this happened when I weighed myself everyday this week. Two weeks ago, I didn't, I only weighed at the end and I gained two pounds. And while I've read everywhere that weighing everyday is not good, I can't help but believe the opposite is true for me. I believe that weighing everyday helps me realize that there are and will be daily fluctuations in weight. So when I go into th... Sat, 13 Oct 2012 12:14:12 EST Updates: Two weeks ago, I went to the doctor, and the dr was pretty sure what was wrong with me, but took a few more blood tests to be sure, and on Tuesday, I went for the third time in six weeks. Surprisingly, I wasn't nervous like I had been the first two times. I was pretty calm. I think part of the reason was that the dr had seemed so sure of the PCOS, that I it didn't bother me. And part of it was there were no more tests. Yay!

My visit this time was short, just under an hour whereas ... Thu, 11 Oct 2012 15:00:05 EST October Goals. While it seems a little late to post goals for October, I have had this picture on my desktop for several days. I do this once a month, and the first thing I see when I turn on my computer is a list of goals.

So you can read the October Goals:
Keep up with homework
Exercise 4 days/week
Drink plenty of water
Pay bills
Go to Gym once a week
Write 500 Words a week
Continu... Mon, 8 Oct 2012 08:07:12 EST Change. Well. I do not intend to be a complainer. So I'm going to try to focus on the positives.
WARNING: I will discuss female problems as this is the focus of what happened today.

I'll start at the beginning. My cycle has never been regular. It never bothered me because I didn't think it was serious. My mother wasn't regular and there's nothing wrong with her, so I didn't worry.
I did start worrying, however, when my last period lasted two weeks when I made my appointment... Tue, 25 Sep 2012 20:02:00 EST Goals: Week of Sept 23. Sun, 23 Sep 2012 19:43:37 EST 10 Years Today marks, for me, a special day. It marks the 10 year anniversary of our first date. To help mark the day, I decided not to track anything. This was a conscious choice, because on this day, I would rather not worry about calories.
Much has been done in that time. We've seen each other through real tough times. And as we lingered over our wine at dinner, we talked of all the things that have happened, and what we have done. He was in the hospital last year. I had cancer and his grand... Sat, 22 Sep 2012 20:19:58 EST Motivation (or the lack thereof) It's all very well and good to say you have motivation. You have a vision. But what happens when someone comes along and they don't just take the wind from the sails, they seemed to have taken the sails too?

That is how I feel right now. I had thought I found my motivation. I had gotten excited, even eager about it, and now it's gone.

I have wanted kids since I was a little girl. I was made to be mom. And growing up I never doubted that one day I'd have a slew of little ... Fri, 21 Sep 2012 07:35:29 EST The Tipping Point This is a short Vlog about my tipping point: the point at which I realized I needed to lose weight. Mon, 17 Sep 2012 08:58:31 EST Week 1: Setting Goals So this weeks goal is to...set goals! hahaha.
Seriously, it is documented that those with smaller, measurable goals are more likely to succeed. Since this is my second day (and my first "week" was rather short) I thought what better way to keep up my motivation than to set goals for the following week, and share my longer term goals.

Long term goals:
Lose 50 lbs by June/July 2013. Reward: TTC (IVF/TESE), and feel awesome.

Medium Goals:
Lose 15-20 lbs by th... Sat, 15 Sep 2012 20:00:25 EST Starting Out I don't know who said it, but when they said "Today is the first day of the rest of my life" they hit the nail on the head. I've tried losing weight before on my own and I'd yoyo up and down. But all of that doesn't matter. Because TODAY is what matters. What I do today will affect the rest of my life. And TODAY (and hopefully more todays to follow...) I choose to lose weight, get in shape, and feel better about myself.

This is my first day on SP. I weighed myself and took my measu...
