I have joined two awesome challenges - the 28 Day Bikini Ready/Eat Clean Challenge and the Spring into Shape Bootcamp Challenge - that are really going to jump start my fitness and eating routines. Why do I resist going to the doctor and keep trying to tough it out????? Okay, maybe today - we'll see.

Meanwhile, fighting allergies has taken all my energy and not left an ounce of strength or desire to track food or be active. Work, home, bed, that's all I've been doing. This is not fun or productive, in fact it's insane.

That settles it! Today, I will call the doctor!
Mon, 11 Oct 2010 07:05:47 EST Progress! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3664078 Weigh in @ 5 a.m.

136.6
32.5 inches at the natural waist and
36 @ the "poochy part"

overall am very satisfied with the four day quick start of the Flat Belly Diet Plan.
Lost 2.4 pounds and a total of 4 inches in the waist area! Tue, 21 Sep 2010 18:03:42 EST The Plan...day 1 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3651508 Today am starting the Flat Belly Diet plan. Stopping smoking has had a few different effects on my body functions - bloating, problem BM's and of course an insatiable need to want to snack all the time!!! After reading about the flat belly diet plan, I think it is worth a try. The first 4 days are designed to rid the body of bloating, gas and get your mind prepared for a healthy eating plan. The next month focuses on healthy food choices, eating 400 calories, 4 times a day. The theory is that... Today was a double weigh in - weekly at home and one at the doc for my annual well woman check up. I was not happy with either result...I am topping the scales at 142 and that is the most I have ever weighed and almost 10 pounds more than my last visit. Now I know, in the big scheme of things this may not seem like a tremendous amount of weight, but this is a new exp... Mon, 13 Sep 2010 20:11:05 EST A small victory! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3605128 I have had a difficult time this week being motivated to work out. I think about it, plan it, think about it some more, but have not been able to make myself "just do it". Finally tonight, the tennie's went on the feet and out the door I went! The temp here in TX is down a little, so it was a relatively cool evening (only 90!) Bottom line is it felt great and I plan to go again first thing in the morning to start the day of right. Maybe I'll even throw in a pilates work out for good measur... It seems incredible and surprisingly some days I forget that I ever was a smoker....then other days - lookout. My original goal with Spark People was to maintain the quit smoking status and to not gain weight during the first month of being smoke-free. Well - done and done!!! Yahoo!

So, while maintaining, I spent most of the first month reading and following other Sparker's success stories and picking up pointers. There are... Mon, 30 Aug 2010 21:18:58 EST 3 weeks and still counting. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3519398 Wow, today just really stinks as far as wanting to smoke. It was a difficult weekend - road trip (always used to smoke in the car), seeing relatives (family dynamics can be stressful! ) and being around people who smoke....Yikes!!!!! The family was very supportive and encouraging and really helped me through but yesterday facing the four hour drive back home was hard, hard, hard. Once I even pulled into a convenience store to buy a pack and the young clerk behind the counter talked me out of ... Mon, 9 Aug 2010 19:17:50 EST Ready, Set...Go! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3507412 Alright time to pat myself on the back a little, then move on! I made a huge decision to finally stop smoking after 34 years, and on July 19 began that journey. So far, so good and it has been almost 3 weeks now and I am beginning to realize how wonderful it feels to be smoke free! It hasn't all been roses and champagne - but it gets better everyday.

Of course, the biggest deterrent to stopping was the fear of gaining weight. I always intended to lose a few pounds, then stop smoki... Thu, 5 Aug 2010 19:56:17 EST
