DOING-IT4ME's SparkPeople Blog DOING-IT4ME's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Time to change my tracker Today's the day, it's time I change my tracker on my page. I have struggled for a while now with gaining back everything I've lost previously and more, so much so that I changed my tracker to my fitness tracker. I admit it, I was embarrassed at the fact that I was gaining it back. Am I the only one that's ever experienced this feeling? Absolutely not!

I have struggled for quite a while now with my weight, weight that I gained primarily due to being hypothyroid and early menopause.... Wed, 23 Mar 2016 14:53:07 EST Dear Mom Dear Mom,

I am still in shock that you're gone. I can't believe it has been two weeks already since we lost you. My heart still breaks, I still cry, I still can't sleep at night. I can't believe how incredibly fortunate I was to have spent time with you on your first ever cruise such a short time ago. I knew our time with you was running short but I certainly expected much more time than this.

You taught me so much growing up, you stood by my side through the good and t... Fri, 21 Feb 2014 10:52:05 EST Feb 1 February started off with our college daughter coming home for the weekend. Today the whole family did some shopping. Bought a new toaster since our other one decided to catch fire last night.... that was fun lol and we went to look at granite and tile to see if we could agree on something for the kitchen remodel. Surprisingly we did so we'll be ordering that next week! I didn't get my walks in because we were gone too long but there's always tomorrow!

Lots to do this month. I h... Sat, 1 Feb 2014 22:25:55 EST Still tracking .... I haven't been as consistent with tracking my food, but I know I have been staying well within my calories. I'm sticking to my green drinks for breakfast, a piece of fruit for snack, something homemade and measured for lunch, another piece of fruit or low fat string cheese for snack then a well balanced dinner. I just need to stay motivated to post it!

Workouts are going good as well. I didn't get as many steps in this weekend as I had planned, but the weather's been so amazing tha... Wed, 22 Jan 2014 11:26:50 EST Feeling better and getting back on track Phew! I am finally feeling like myself again. The weather's being so goofy here though that now I'm beginning to suffer from sinus sneezing etc. Mid-January and we're hitting almost 70 here in NorCal this week. It would be great if Mother Nature would make up her mind!!! Anyway, I can deal with the regular sinus stuff, that's practically a year-round thing for me anyway. Still slightly tired, but I contribute a lot of the sleepiness to the inactivity while I was down with that horrible cold f... Wed, 15 Jan 2014 14:20:35 EST The cold that wouldn't end.... It hit me on Christmas Eve and has been lingering ever since (yes, counting today I'm on day 16 eek!). I FINALLY have it down to just a slight cough, which is much improved even from yesterday. Needless to say, workouts have been few and far between. Any exertion and it would throw me into a coughing tizzy which was absolutely miserable.

But since the cough is finally improving, I will slowly start adding gentle workouts back into my schedule. Once the cough is completely gone, I w... Wed, 8 Jan 2014 12:58:01 EST New Year - new goals Although I haven't sat down and written out my goals for the year, I have them running through my head. It's a new year and time for me to get completely back on track. Time to get back to basics and do it one day at a time!!!

521 521 521 521 521 521 521 521 Thu, 2 Jan 2014 17:03:42 EST Ab Challenge Here is the Ab Challenge I am participating in ....

Day 1 15 sit-ups, 5 crunches, 5 leg raises, 10s (s=second) plank
Day 2 20 sit-ups, 8 crunches, 8 leg raises, 12s plank
Day 3 25 sit-ups, 10 crunches, 10 leg raises, 15s plank
Day 4 Rest Day!
Day 5 30 sit-ups, 12 crunches, 12 leg raises, 20s plank
Day 6 35 sit-ups, 15 crunches, 15 leg raises, 25s plank
Day 7 40 sit-ups, 20 crunches, 20 leg raises, 30s plank
Day 8 Rest Day!
Day 9 45 sit-u... Tue, 4 Jun 2013 10:56:15 EST Vacation and an Ab Challenge! I am so excited that my vacation is in less than a week now. It has been FAR too long since we did more than a "stay-cation". Hubby and I are cruising to Alaska for his birthday ...and I don't even care if it rains the whole time....why? Because when we leave, temps are predicted to be over 100 - so yeah, I'll take the cooler temps and rain if need be! Lol

Because it's a cruise, I'm not too worried about getting fitness in. We walk everywhere and take the stairs on the ship, not to... Mon, 3 Jun 2013 11:00:41 EST Days 12-15 My how time flies and feeling exhilarated! Time sure flies - seems like every time I blink, three or four more days have gone by and I haven't blogged - ugh. I didn't get in as much walking this weekend as I had hoped, but I did get some in everyday so that's a plus! And I got lots done around the house that had been neglected far too long so I feel like it was a very accomplished weekend!

As for feeling exhilarated - well, what a day so far!! I woke up this morning and it was my weigh-in day. I decided when I started back ... Tue, 15 Jan 2013 16:59:56 EST Day 11 - recap of yesterday I forgot to mention on yesterday's blog post that I finally got around to ordering the SP Cookbook - and even better news is that it shipped out yesterday! Yay - I love cookbooks and I know this will have healthy recipes to try so can't wait for it to arrive! 277

Last night I was getting ready to go to bed when I noticed on my Fitbit that I was at around 9100 steps ugh .... being that close to 10k for the first time since I bought it, I knew I couldn't go to bed withou... Fri, 11 Jan 2013 14:49:11 EST Yup I'm behind on my blog.... let's catchup - Days 4-10 The last few days have gone pretty well. Still working on consistency in my fitness, still building slowly by trying to increase my walking to at least 10k steps. Haven't reached it yet, but I will!

Had my maintenance massage on Monday which was awesome - she was able to really loosen up my tight muscles and get rid of the stress I was holding onto. She was even able to help with the severe pain I've had in my heels for the last few months - that is HUGE for my getting back to regu... Thu, 10 Jan 2013 13:19:23 EST Days 2 & 3 Motivation increasing So although I'm 0-2 on working out the first two days of the year (regular workouts, not just using my step counter), I am still feeling good and like I'm on the right track.

Day 2 - 1/2/13 - I made my calls and have a nice long maintenance massage scheduled for Monday to get all the existing kinks worked out of my neck, shoulders, etc. This will put me physically in much better shape to start working out!

Made the dreaded call and self-referred myself to a new End... Thu, 3 Jan 2013 18:41:01 EST 1/1/13 - Happy New Year & a new beginning (Day 1 again) Happy New Year to all! Today I begin again, not just logging on and gaining points, but this morning I weighed myself for the first time in months and took my measurements. Although I wanted to cry a bit, the reality is I am now 4lbs higher than my highest weight when I first started SP back in 2009 (I believe). I even took "now" photos, although I choose not to post them here... at least for now. I also reset my goals because this journey can be difficult enough so I did not want any weight ... Tue, 1 Jan 2013 20:16:33 EST New Years Eve motivation With tomorrow ringing in the new year, I will fully start anew. Take my weight, measurements etc. I have been logging in and tracking for a few days now and I look forward to getting back to light workouts, leading up to more as the year progresses. And with this being New Year's Eve, I bring more motivational quotes to keep me going - and perhaps they will help some of you as well. Happy New Year - have a safe and happy one!!

"Optimism is the faith that leads to achie... Mon, 31 Dec 2012 17:39:11 EST More motivation Another motivational quote to keep me focused on restarting my journey on the 1st...

"Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy." Norman Vincent Peale Sat, 29 Dec 2012 18:40:43 EST Motivation I am working my way back onto SP after much too long of a break. Started back slow with just logging on and starting to earn points, started food/water tracking again etc. Jan 1 I begin my workouts again. Trying not to overdo it so I don't burn myself out, this needs to be long-term and permanent. Positive quotes will help me get through.... here's one for today

“The three great essentials to achieve anything worthwhile are, first, hard work; second, stick-to-itiveness; third, com... Fri, 28 Dec 2012 12:28:40 EST Spinning class #2 I went to my second spinning class last night - ouch my bottom hurts from that tiny little seat (and I even used a gel cushion)! I won't complain too much though because it made me get out of the "saddle" more, which works more of my quad muscles!!

My instructor wanted to keep me in the endurance range again - again building up to the next step. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it to another spinning class until Saturday, which happens to be an "everybody does endurance" day.... Tue, 6 Dec 2011 11:22:20 EST The importance of taking measurements 7 7 7 7 7 7 7

Although I've been losing weight week after week, I had a couple of very slow weeks on the scale. And even though I typically only take my measurements once a month, I was curious where things might be irregardless of my slow weeks on the scale. So I took my measurements this morning, which is right around the two week mark since my last measurements and I was absolutely thrilled to see that I had ... However, I have considered going to Zumba class (but haven't made it yet). The last few weeks, my weight loss was going nice and smooth until a couple of weeks ago when it slowed dramatically. I still lost, but barely enough to count.

So I began thinking I... Wed, 23 Nov 2011 19:08:13 EST Things change rapidly It can sometimes be frustrating when things change rapidly. Before my dreaded summer session Math class, I was trying to blog pretty regularly, using my niece's wedding date as a "goal" for added weight loss. Well, my niece asked my daughter to be a brides maid which was exciting. This meant we definitely had to leave the state and head for St. George the first week of January.

But as I'm sure we have all experienced before, life doesn't always go the way we plan. My daughter has ... Fri, 18 Nov 2011 18:28:09 EST I just realized something I just realized that with my summer class (that starts today), I will actually be able to squeeze in MORE workout time three days a week! 244 Granted, they won't be super heavy workouts because I don't want to walk into class all sweaty, but I will make them worthwhile! See, I have access to a gym at work and I have started going down and using the stationary bike on my morning break and my lunch which gives me about 45 minutes a day so far. But, I get off work at 4:30 and my class... I have to admit I was only hoping for maybe a half pound loss because of being out of town all last weekend, and as we all know, staying in hotels does not help with healthy eating. And although I tried to watch what I ate, I wasn't as good as I could have been. Needless to say, when I got on the scale and it said I was down 2 full lbs since last week, I was very pleased!!

Aside from that, it was a long day .... raining agai... Sun, 5 Jun 2011 02:55:26 EST Wow a week's gone by already ... since my last blog. What a week...we got back from the coast Monday afternoon and I had Tuesday off with plans to get caught up around the house. Instead, I woke up with a repeat of my sinus headache from the week before. So I took it easy Tuesday and ended up calling in sick Wednesday - went to the Dr. to get antibiotic due to full blown sinus infection (feeling much better now!). While waiting for my prescription I received a call from my son's school telling me he cut his finger in metal s... Fri, 3 Jun 2011 23:36:53 EST Woo Hoo and Happy Memorial Weekend!! With 224 days to go until my niece's wedding (thus my countdown), I weighed myself a day early as we were headed out of town and much to my surprise, I am down 3lbs since last Saturday - 244 Now I have to be honest and admit that we went out to dinner our first night here, with a group of people and the food was SO good and I enjoyed every bite! Because the temperatures are so much cooler than they should be in Cali this weekend, we opted to stay in a hotel rather than camp with t... Sat, 28 May 2011 00:41:30 EST Over the hump Wednesday is over, the weekend is that much closer! My son was feeling much better today. He's still got the cough, but it sounds like it's improving so we have made the decision to go for it this weekend - I hope the weather clears up for us!

An update on me and my journey .... I am working on increasing my workouts. With work, school and homework I just was not finding time to do it, but now that I have a short break until my next class, I am trying to develop a routine/schedule ... Thu, 26 May 2011 02:15:52 EST Decisions, decisions .... We have a trip planned for this weekend to the coast. My son is part of a group participating in a race (an unusual race, but a race none the less), but he's been sick. This is when being a parent is not so fun - we're going to have to decide whether to still go and let him try to participate, go and just let him watch, or decide to keep him home. I am hoping he will feel much better tomorrow, but considering he has a fever again tonight I have my doubts. I guess we'll just take it one day at... Wed, 25 May 2011 00:15:43 EST 229 days to go (again) - but a confirmed date now (1/7/12) Shame on me - I've missed my last two blogs and I have no excuse - so I wanted to make sure I posted something today. I owe responses/comments to those of you wonderful Sparkers who commented on my last couple blogs. Your support/comments means a lot to me and it's important to me that I comment back to each of you personally, so I will work on that tomorrow!

I finally got the exact date out of my niece - her wedding is scheduled for 1/7/12 so my countdown is back up to 229 days t... Mon, 23 May 2011 00:06:54 EST Ah, much better! Well going to bed early last night did wonders for me. Although I still had some stuffiness this morning I felt worlds better than yesterday! I got in a short workout again at lunch ... and one of my finals is done! One more to go tomorrow then I get a much needed three week break until summer session begins. And I plan to make the most of those three weeks by working out and getting some overdue spring cleaning done- it's time to be productive!! I will, however, take a hiatus over memorial ... Fri, 20 May 2011 00:49:53 EST 227 days left - so tired I got in a 30 min ride on the stationary bike at lunch today. I am so tired today though. The weather keeps changing and the pressure changes are causing my sinuses to go nuts. So due to extreme sinus blahs I am calling it an early night. Tomorrow I take the rescheduled final exam in one class and I take my other on Friday. I will be very glad to have a break, even if it is short!

Best to you!!

Wed, 18 May 2011 23:24:00 EST 228 days to go ... overall a good day! Overall this was a really good day. Work was productive, I got in 30 minutes on the stationary bike at lunch while studying for a final (which felt great btw!). The only bummer about today was the fact that I spent all that time studying and drove all the way to school (a 25 min drive) just to find out our class was canceled for tonight and our final rescheduled for Thursday - ugh. Needless to say I was very upset ... I mean, who cancels class during finals?? So home I went (a 45 min drive) a... Tue, 17 May 2011 23:28:32 EST 229 days to go I look forward to finding out the exact date of my niece's wedding (once she sets it) so I can have an accurate countdown .... but until then, 229 days till the beginning of January. I am feeling optimistic since setting my niece's wedding as a goal date for becoming as fit and fabulous as I can between now and then. I am sleeping well, but a little short on hours due to studying - finals week and all. But after this week I have a three week break until my summer class begins and I plan on ju... Mon, 16 May 2011 22:11:27 EST Countdown - 231/230 days remaining Oops - got busy and did not get my blog done yesterday. So I woke up this morning to this:

which made me glad I had a lot of homework to finish today!

I stuck to my plan yesterday - got up, weighed and took my measurements (let me just say ewww lol). I still need to take a new picture for my profile, but will do so tomorrow morning. And both yesterday and today I tracked my food and got all the Spark poin... Mon, 16 May 2011 00:33:09 EST 232(ish) days.... So, my butt busting semester is coming to a close. Don't get me wrong, I still have some tough classes ahead, but not all at once like this one! With this rough semester everything has suffered - my workouts, my measurements - well, you get the picture. But I have a goal ... my darling niece who lives out of state is getting married in January, I don't know the exact date yet, but the beginning of January is 232 days away (starting tmw) ... so my goal is to commit to getting back in some kind...
