DJSHIP46's SparkPeople Blog DJSHIP46's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community My Summer Garden... I take an awful lot of pictures and probably don't edit enough but if you have time they are worth taking a look...
. I hope you enjoy the plants & animals that hang around my home, I sure do.

With time and too much weight on my body, it's getting harder and harder to keep it all up. Just like I plan to keep trying to lose weight till I figure it out, I plan to keep gardening as long as I live. Thanks for your support. Sat, 12 Sep 2015 08:41:22 EST Saying Good-Bye One of my younger grandchildren has just graduated from high school and is preparing to go into the Army. He is the first of our family in his generation to do so... I am proud of him but it is very scary! As his older brothers aged out of Grammy Summer Camp they just quit coming. It was sudden and a little hard on the grandmothers (neither of us life close to this family). After graduation his wish was to come to visit each set of grandparents for one week... what a blessing, what a wond... Tue, 30 Jun 2015 09:17:27 EST Flowers & Birds - January thru June 2015

Growing mostly flowers and feeding the birds also grows and feeds my soul. It is my primary exercise program and my soul food. I'm not much good at growing veggies, but when I do it makes me grateful and joyful all the way through! I hope you enjoy this six month walk through my life.

Enjoy & may God bless you. Tue, 30 Jun 2015 08:52:27 EST The Rest of My Vacation After spending two days at Burney Falls (the previous blog), we traveled to my daughter's home in the hills outside Placerville, in a suburb called Swansboro where I had a delightful visit with my daughter and her husband, some of my grandchildren and great grandchildren. This would have been enough, but in addition, I got to walk around three little lakes that are within a mile of her home. They are so picturesque that I wanted to share what I saw.

The first lake had three pai... Thu, 7 May 2015 08:17:26 EST My Vacation - Burney Falls I had waited over 40 years to revisit this spectacular waterfall and it did not disappoint.

I too lots of pictures of the falls, also the flora, fauna and other sites on the loop trail. Hope you enjoy the photo tour...
Wed, 6 May 2015 09:15:06 EST Harris Beach State Park, Oregon
I broke my 227 day streak because we went on a little vacation where there was no internet access. I got lots of walking in and a few pictures.
When we arrived the sun was shining so beautifully but I forgot my camera on my first walk, so all the pictures were taken in the fog which was still there when we left. It is a very beautiful stretch of beach and we really enjoyed the time we s... Wed, 11 Mar 2015 09:57:08 EST My Motivation is on the Rise I love to garden. It is usually one of my exercise main stays, but this year in addition to being cold our winter has been (thankfully) wet and windy. Last week I received a (little late) birthday gift from one of my granddaughters. These beautiful tulips are not opening in my dining room...

They really speak to me of Spring and yesterday was sunny, so I spent a some time prunning the roses and fertilizing a ... I've been trying to walk with a group from the local senior center two days a week on a lovely path called the Hammond Trail, which traverses the bluffs along the ocean in our little community. However, last Wednesday I had an appointment with my 13 year old, deer hunting granddaughter to help her do a mosaic on the skull of her first deer. I know some of you will be totally grossed out by that, I was a little grossed out myself at first. But my son and his daughter ask for very little, so... Wed, 30 Apr 2014 09:22:52 EST A Weekend on Crescent City Harbor We traveled up the coast about 80 miles to attend my grandson's basketball tournament. (This was the first time we had taken the 5th-wheel out since hubby got his new pick-up.) We stayed at Shoreline RV Park right on the harbor.

Some of our neighbors...

Battery Point ... Mon, 10 Mar 2014 10:25:22 EST So I went for a walk... A couple weeks ago, I fell forward in my office (big klutz) and although I thought I was healing apparently I really tweaked my hip, which keeps stiffening up if I sit for more than a few minutes. Getting old is really NOT for sissies. I just turned 67. So I need to workout, but it hurts. I decided that walking would be best and I live only a mile for the Pacific Ocean... So I took my dogs and went to the beach. North Little River Beach to be more specific...
<img src="http://phot... Mon, 13 Jan 2014 11:05:20 EST Sugar :( 1-1-14 This morning I joined a team that I hope will help me break my sugar addiction. Of course I didn't run across it till after I started this day off with about 7 cookies. I also weighted myself this morning and was encouraged to see that I am down to 196.2, which is not good, but is better than the 199 I was at just before Christmas. I have found that when I log my food I become obsessed with it, so I quit. Right now I'm trying to use what I have learned on this site regarding healt... Wed, 1 Jan 2014 10:26:23 EST North Coast Water Garden Pond Tour Yesterday my husband and I attended the third and final pond tour of this year. Although it didn't provide nearly enough exercise, it as always provides food for the soul and inspiration for our pond. We also skipped the barbecue at the end, which was good for our diet.

The first stop was at the home of a ceramic artist. His pond had a Mediterranean theme and was exotic and beautiful...

<img ... Sun, 28 Jul 2013 09:09:41 EST The Spark Solution Program Interview I am not a natural blogger, but I wanted to complete this assignment so I'm treating it like an interview. If your reading it, thank you and I hope it helps motivate you to try the Spark Solution.

• What made you decide to try The Spark Solution Program?
I joined SparkPeople almost three years ago. I'm not sure what changed after the first year, but I stopped losing weight and recently regained all the weight I had lost. So trying a mapped out, specific program seemed like... Sun, 19 May 2013 08:47:10 EST This was fun... Yesterday I took another class at the local nursery. This one was on making light bulb terrariums and I promised my new SparkFriend Canice

NICE
that I would try to describe the process. You need an incandescent light bulb (don't worry if it's frosted), a small screwdriver, a pair of needle nosed pliers, some sugar or salt (about a tablespoon), about 2 tablespoons of horticultural sand, some moss or other VERY tiny plants.

St... Sun, 10 Mar 2013 11:42:21 EST Traveling to Redding & back As I let folks know that I was going to be out of touch for a couple days I felt a little guilty about ducking out in the middle of a challenge, but motivated to stay on plan even if I couldn't post... that didn't turn out so well. I managed to eat pretty sensibly and take a couple of VERY short walks with my dogs. I spend several hours shopping on Saturday. Redding has many of the larger stores we don't have here.

It was great to get away for the weekend and visit my step-daug... Mon, 22 Oct 2012 09:18:40 EST The Sin of Pride... As I read a blog this morning about not being able to accept a compliment it struck me that one of the hardest lessons I ever had to teach myself was to accept a compliment without a "but" or an excuse. The blogger referred to as "sucking the joy out of it" and that is SO TRUE! I started by forcing myself to just say, "Thank You." followed by nothing but a smile and that has worked most of the time. I still have to remind myself that it's not fair to the other person to downgrade the gift... It is always a miracle to hole a sweet new life in your arms and so life affirming.

I promised my Spark Buddy that I was going to take my 28-Day Boot Camp DVD and continue my workouts while on my trip to meet Lyle, but I missed it in the rush to get packed up. Mon, 2 Jan 2012 20:56:23 EST SO Embarrassed!!! Back on March 3rd I started training for my first 5K walk and I stayed on schedule and faithful till March 28th... when I took a break and took my VERY painful foot to the foot doctor. He said I had a Nueroma and gave me a shot between the toes that didn't help:( I kept going to Curves and took it easy with the walking. Recently I saw the Halloween challenge and decided it was time to get er done!!! I started back on Wk 5 (I finished Wk 4 in March)... Oh yeah, back in March it was raining... Then the guy who was coming to clean the pond cancelled cause his partner was sick... been waiting for the rain to stop for that one. I took a walk, as part of my virtual 5K training, to the beach and back pulling two of my itty bitty dogs... First because one forgot that we could WALK to the beach and got scared... the other is her four month old son and he is scared of whatever mom is scared of. Had a lovely romp... Sat, 5 Mar 2011 10:08:55 EST Stuck but not discouraged... I just read the story of the frog in the bucket of cream... and I feel like I know him, except I'm kicking and kicking and not making butter! I am eating better than I ever have in my life. I'm exercising more than I ever have before and I don't seem to be getting anywhere.

I'm using the CURVES Weight Management Plan, that worked like a charm for the first 20 lbs., but since then I've been pretty stuck. Sat, 5 Feb 2011 09:14:20 EST My Biggest Obstacle Okay, this is hard... and it is my first ever blog, although I've tried a couple times in the past. I need to write about a goal that is REALLY hard for me to attain. That would be the removal of processed sugar from my diet. I can tell by the way I react to it that it is an addiction! I hate that it has so much power over me. For periods of time I'm able to leave it completely alone, but then I take a little bit... just one cookie and the next thing I know all the cookies are gone! Mo... Fri, 21 Jan 2011 11:54:10 EST
