For about a year and a half, Zumba has been my passion. If I'm not doing a class, I'm doing it on my Wii Zumba, pulling up a Zumba routine on youtube, or doing one our favorite routines with my daughter wherever we might be. I've downloaded all our favorite songs from iTunes. 211

One of our instructors at the gym I'm a member of left and moved to Florida. That left us with one Zumba instructor. So, if she was... Mon, 27 Aug 2012 02:00:18 EST Hogwarts Open for Enrollment http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4837033 Hi, friends! :) Just wanted to pass along that if you want to join me at Hogwarts (Private Team), let me know, and I can pass your name along . . .

It's fun! 104 Mon, 16 Apr 2012 06:06:44 EST Friday the 13th of January, 2012 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4678798 Still going strong. I think I'm finally through my first plateau. I had lost 5 pounds the first week, then gained back 2 of them that didn't want to leave! But now, I'm back down those 5 pounds and ready to move down further! I've been doing well with my eating and working out every day without fail--even when I wasn't feeling it. I knew deep down that the scale would move, but when you're actually in the plateau, it feels pretty discouraging.

Onward and downward! :) Fri, 13 Jan 2012 17:08:47 EST Monday, the 9th of January, 2012 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4669268 Yesterday was AWESOME!!!! Went to R's Zumba class, and she truly has a gift! The class was packed full of people ready to have a good time. And we did! We worked so hard, we fogged the mirrors up! I've never seen that happen. And I had to be careful because I was sweating so much, the floor was getting a little slick. But it was SO fun! I think I'm gonna have to find an additional class to go to. So far, I only have Zumba on Sunday afternoons and Tuesday nights.

Today (and... Mon, 9 Jan 2012 16:35:52 EST Saturday, the 7th of January, 2012 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4664210 Well, I haven't kept up with my blog very well this week, but I have stuck with my wellness plan. I've stayed fully in my calorie levels and exercised at least 30 minutes each day. I can't always enter my stuff on here, because it's blocked at work. So, I've been using Fitnesspal.com for entering calories in/burned off. This week I have lost 5 pounds total. I've fully stayed within my limits and still gained a pound back today. Measuring day tomorrow, so we will see how that goes . . . ... Sat, 7 Jan 2012 14:38:34 EST Monday, the 2nd of January 2012 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4651717 Well, here I am again, having to restart at 201 pounds. 79 to go. I was going pretty well until my husband lost his job 2 months ago on my birthday. Unfortunately, I did not handle the stress appropriately and gained 15 pounds in 2 months. But John got a job the week before Christmas, and I'm ready to live the life I know I'm supposed to. I need to THRIVE, not just survive. Yesterday, I started and went a little over in my calories. That was okay with me. I didn't go over by much, and... I went to the Pilates class at the gym. Still not so crazy about Pilates, but it was DEFINITELY challenging! The last Pilates class I did (about 9 years ago) was so easy, that it was kind of like non-weighted arm raises--no challenge. This class was definitely a challenge! There were a couple of moves I was just unable to do (that was hard for a... My week got away from me, and I haven't blogged since Tuesday. 198

Been a pretty good day today. :) My daughter and I did a Zumba class together. R, the usual instructor is AWESOME!!! She's fun, she smiles a lot, hollers to boost you on to do more, work harder, and just helps you have a FUN time. It's like a huge dance party. And today, the class was PACKED! That just shows what a fun class she has. More and more folks are comin'! I ha... I reckon when you have kids, there always has to be a Plan B, waiting in the wings.

I planned to go to the gym and do a toning class. I've wanted to do it for awhile, and had finally gotten up the courage to go. Well, as soon as I started getting ready to walk out the door, my daughter decided she had to go with me. And since she *is* truly my daughter, she couldn't leave the house without her makeup and hair done. Sigh. In any case, by the... I did 35 minutes of the required jogging, no walks. But I hadn't made it to 3.1 miles at that point, so I did walk/run intervals after that on a 2:1 ratio. I completed 3.1 miles in 46:03. It's all good. :)

That Zumba class yesterday whipped my tail. We did a lot of oblique/back work in the dancing, and WOW, do I feel it today!!!

So how are you all movin' it today? Mon, 8 Aug 2011 21:59:13 EST Sunday, the 7th of August, 2011 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4413222 Well, maybe today, my blog post won't vanish. Yesterday, I typed it out, and the internet had a blip. And there's no refresh or back button for these blog pages.

Today, Madeline & I did Zumba together! So fun! We had a totally different instructor, and it made all the difference. She was on beat, and had tons of energy! She did the "Pause" song, which is my favorite one. I wish they had this class more often in the evenings when I can come to the class. Right now, I can mak... It's gone.

Maybe tomorrow. Sat, 6 Aug 2011 21:14:37 EST Tuesday, 2nd of August, 2011 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4403483 Today was a so-so day. My running plan was walk 1 minute, jog for 4 minutes, adding up enough times to equal 40 minutes. I wasn't at 3.1 miles at 40 minutes, so I went a little longer, arriving at 3.1 miles at 45:39. Not my best time, but I did it. :) I'm struggling with this week and how my sleep is ordered. Yesterday, I didn't get a workout in. I got in the bed and tried and tried to sleep, but I was wired for sound. I finally fell asleep a little after 3pm, getting back up at 9pm t... Tue, 2 Aug 2011 22:40:28 EST Zumba Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4398092 Today was weigh in day, and I'm down two pounds this week (actually 2.5). So, I'm almost to what my ticker says. I've been being good, and it's paying off so far. :)

It was a good day for Zumba. I woke up with quite a bit of anxiety, so it took me some talking into to go to class. But I went, and I did the class, and I feel so much better! The instructor still is off beat at some times, but I was mostly able to overlook it. It's fun to shake your groove thing. 211... Sun, 31 Jul 2011 18:59:26 EST Week 3, Day 1 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4394464 Well, I ran today. I didn't top any records by any stretch. I only jogged/walked 2.58 miles in 40 minutes. I'm mostly following the SparkPeople 5K Your Way Training Program. Today that was walking for 1 minute, then jogging for 4 minutes, repeating 7 more times for a total workout time of 40 minutes. I've been doing 3.1 miles, no matter how long it takes. Not today. I did the program just like it said--and slow! BUT . . . I did strength training yesterday for the first time in a looo... I was without power for 2.5 days, and most people here still have no power. I am currently on 12 hour work shifts, 7 days a week, with no days off in sight until our city gets back to somewhat normal.

Here is what happened:

And here is what my town looks like:

I will tell you that even with this, only 2 people ... Mon, 25 Apr 2011 13:12:54 EST My First 5K! :) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4153601 Well, I finally did it! I ran my first 5K! I'm so proud of me! I've run before in my life, but I never had run a race. I raised an almost 18 year old track/cross-country runner who has run countless 5K's, but never run my own . . . until now. :)

It was tough. I won't even lie. I worked the night shift before running this race. I had gotten up at 1:30pm the day before. But I ran it anyway. It was a trail run with lots of hills, gravel, and mud, when I had trained on concre... One is an Auburn fan, the other, a UT fan. Someone asked the Auburn fan, “What does AUBURN stand for?” The fan replied, “Alabama Usually Beats Us ‘Round November”. He then turned to the UT fan and asked the meaning of UT. The UT fan replied, “Us Too.”

ROLL TIDE Thu, 26 Nov 2009 22:41:11 EST Halloween 09 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2525269 This Halloween was the best ever, and for the most part, I forgot my camera! :(

We started out by working at our church's Fall Festival from 3-5pm. I worked the cake walk, and it was SO fun!! I loved seeing those little faces light up when they won and got to come pick out a cupcake. :) I love kids!

Then, we took the kids trick or treating for a couple of hours. SO fun! They got a respectable amount of candy. Madeline was an Angel (she won the prettiest costume... You saw Daniel's Dress Up Day yesterday. Today is his Pajama Day. No pictures for that, because Daniel sleeps in sweats or shorts (big deal--LOL). But Madeline had "Fashion Disaster Day". She came up with this outfit all by herself!

The Hair

The whole outfit
<BR... He decided he wanted to go Goth today. LOL--he is SO like me. When I was in high school, I went Punk. If my scanner would cooperate, I'd show ya. But I can show you Daniel's transformation. I tell you, I never thought I'd be doing my son's makeup and nails. And it's very weird putting makeup on a face with beard bristles.

Here is my Daniel before:

And h... Tue, 6 Oct 2009 17:17:26 EST Ok, here is where I sit . . . http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2453592 This is just rambling, ranting and raving. I just need to get it out of my system.

Two years ago at this time, I was an emergency dispatch supervisor and APCO instructor. Sounds impressive, huh? It paid a very small amount--especially considering the responsibility that goes with it. It was coming up on Christmas time, and I had a set schedule at the police department--3 twelve hour shifts a week (Thursday through Saturday). So, I thought I'd go by the local supermarket (about... Mon, 5 Oct 2009 10:31:39 EST What is "Falling off the wagon" to you? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2433190 I have a friend on Facebook that posted on her status:
"_____ ______ broke down and went off the diet - banana, plain yogurt, orange juice smoothie. SO SWEET!"

I laughed so hard! I posted right back--
"ROFLMBO--I don't mean to laugh so hard, but is that what you call going off the diet? My falling off the wagon usually includes some kind of chocolate . . ."

But I got to thinking. What might be breaking a diet for some, might just be wiggle room for others. ... I tend to start out jogging until my heart rate gets to the top of my target heart range. Then, I walk fast, keeping it in my THR for the rest of the journey. If it dips down, or even if I just feel like it, I jog until my heart rate monitor starts beeping--telling me to slow it down.

Lately, on the weekends or if my workout gets pushed to the evening, when my 10 year old daughter is home, she wants to come with ... Thu, 10 Sep 2009 20:55:19 EST Easy Vs. Hard http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2375749 You know, sometimes staying on track and doing what I ought to do is so easy--I don't think twice about it--and days go by like that. I pick lean meats and steam my veggies to go with it. These days, I think, "Well this is great! I feel good, I'm looking better."

And then others, I fight for each and every decision I make. These are the days I struggle with saying, "Why bother. This is too much trouble. I'm obese. I'm tired. I'm stressed. I need cheesecake!"

And... Sat, 5 Sep 2009 13:47:28 EST
