She was an inspiration to everyone. Her faith in God was evident daily and she lived life to the fullest. She fought breast cancer for 8 years.

Somehow it still came as a surprise. She was only 66 and looked so healthy. Some people weren't even aware of her illness. She never complained. This proves we do not know what other people are going through. So let us all be kind to one another.

RIP my friend. I will miss you. Wed, 3 Sep 2014 13:15:18 EST Head in the sand http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5771718 I've made excuses and put my head in the sand for too long. Today I will do what I did when I first found SP. I will drink my water, be more active, track my food.

Tue, 2 Sep 2014 08:50:07 EST Using my bounty http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5620897 Today I made an apple pie for DH with my Granny Smith apples from the bountiful baskets. I also used Leeks for the first time in a potato soup. It was very good.

I'm looking forward to next weeks veggies and fruits. Mon, 10 Feb 2014 23:21:46 EST Bountiful Baskets http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5618245 Well I had a nice surprise tonight. I picked up my first “Bountiful Baskets”. It was all of $15 + $3 handling fee. I didn’t know what to expect of the food. I couldn’t believe how much food there was.

I got 8 bananas, 8 oranges, 16 oz of strawberries, 8 oz of blackberries, 2 grapefruit, a bag and a half of Granny Smith apples, two leeks, 4 zucchini, 3 bunches of romaine lettuce, 3 cucumbers, asparagus and broccoli! The bad thing is now I will have to cook! You never know what... Fri, 7 Feb 2014 23:08:36 EST I have taken my eye off the ball http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5580500

Yep. I had it right for several months. I went on a two week vacation back in Sept and did well the first week and then my eye started to wander. I never focused again and here it is January.

I did prove several things to myself though.

1) That I need to make it my priority to get it done
2) That even on vacation (week 1) I was able to stay on track
3) That my husband was supportive
4) I felt better.

So it is a new year and a new ... Fri, 3 Jan 2014 09:27:13 EST Green tomatoes with pictures http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5550765 This year we had a hard time getting our tomatoes started but somehow with advice from local farmers about "beating them and not watering so much" we had a crop. But, it was a late crop. DH loves to play with the garden but somehow I get stuck with the work of doing something with the garden. I don't mind adding a tomato to salad or frying some squash but when he came home with tons of green tomatoes and wanted me to do something with them I thought I would show him!

So to the i... Tue, 26 Nov 2013 13:28:53 EST Kids are off to Cozumel http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5529623 Well, I'm in Dallas for the next 10 days watching 4 year old granddaughter Calleigh.

She didn't have a nap today since we took her parents to the airport. So about 7 pm she had a meltdown! I cuddled up with her and we watched Sleeping Beauty for the hundredth time. I watched it earlier with bunny ears on! We do what we have to!

Tomorrow she has T-ball and we will go watch her cousin play later in the day. A no nap day again because of timing so she will likely have ... Got a lot done.

Today I did my volunteer thing and was pleased to get a door prize of a set of Cobra Walkie Talkies that pick up weather and charge with the computer. I'm not sure if we will keep them in an emergency kit or give them to grandchildren.

Tomorrow my brother will arrive from New Orleans.

We just had some kids knock on the window. DH just checked it out and he could hear giggling in the dista... Sat, 26 Oct 2013 00:17:41 EST tired http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5522748 I am a bit tired tonight. Four days of quilting all day is fun but tiring.

Tomorrow I have to go to a Main Street Appreciation Luncheon and help out. I will squeeze in some quilting tomorrow too.

Saturday my brother arrives from New Orleans. I will be cooking for DB and SIL while they are here working on his house. I'll try to get a picture on my page tomorrow.

I will be starting another Flower Fairy quilt tomorrow in Periwinkle Blue and Purples. It was supposed to be easy but I changed it up and caused myself problems! LOL But, the teacher agreed it would look better than the original so I guess I will continue with what I am doing.

DH did some errands today and bought supplies needed for the little house. I’m excited about that. I am gathering what I want to take to my son’s house on Halloween. I am to watch my GD for a week. I plan to get a lot of quilting done while she sleeps or is at school. Sun, 20 Oct 2013 20:41:05 EST Got a lot done today http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5518037 Today I read a Spark People article on gratitude. Although I believe I am a half full kind of girl by nature there are times I do not practice being grateful. So, I think for the rest of the month I will write 3-5 things I am grateful for as suggested in the article.

Today I am grateful that I have a husband who loves me, a family who loves me and generally good health.

I got a lot of cleaning done today. DH worked on the little house today. He has almost got the plu... I worked with vendors in the morning and then took my baked goods to the bake off. It is always fun to see the food and it puts me in the mood for fall.

I made Mini Oreo Cheesecakes. I put the recipes for all my entries into the calorie calculator so I could work them into my plan if I chose to. The cheesecakes looked good so I tried one. Sat, 12 Oct 2013 16:18:16 EST Weigh in http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5475236 Today I weighed in after being on the road for a week. I was pleased with myself for staying on track. I had no computer access and had to guess at the calories. I made good choices and wrote down what I ate. When I logged it in I found I had stayed very close to 1200 calories a day!

I didn't lose as much as I had expected but am pleased I am losing! I lost another 1 1/2 bringing my total to 20 pounds. I am looking forward to the next twenty.

345 days to goal. Wed, 4 Sep 2013 00:43:52 EST Weigh in http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5465934 Week 6. This week I stayed closer to my 1200 calorie range. I lost 2.8! That makes 18.8. Not bad.

I'm excited about the loss. I am happy that I am counting my days. I just wake up and EXPECT to be on track. I don't let myself make excuses. I just do what is necessary to stay in range.

The only problems I have had were when I was out and was guessing the calories. But, I still managed. I guess I have been dieting so long I have a decent knowledge of calories. <B... Sun, 25 Aug 2013 17:12:45 EST They lived happily ever after http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5464473 As the days of indecision wore on it became clear that the young girl loved the Marine from Virginia but I bet you guessed that.

He asked her to marry him right away. She decided to do so. She found that for him to be able to come out to see her he had to ship out to Okinawa where he would work on helicopters that flew to Vietnam. So, they quickly married (not the wedding she would have liked) and had a week together before he left for a year. She got to know him better through... Fri, 23 Aug 2013 22:59:50 EST Once upon a time http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5463593 This is a true story with a moral at the end

Once upon a time there was a young girl and a handsome Marine. The young girl liked to roller skate and went every weekend. The year was 1969. But, one day she was bored with her old roller rink and decided to go to another in Santa Ana California. She strapped on her skates and went out to skate around backwards. Somehow she didn’t see a little boy who tripped her. That is when she saw a hand being offered by the handsome Marine. ... Thu, 22 Aug 2013 23:40:57 EST Negative self image http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5461410 Today I was minding my own business. Happy that I had lost 16 pounds in the past five weeks, when I happened upon the store window front.

All of a sudden all the positives went out the window and I felt down. I felt like what good did 16 pounds do when I still look so big. All of this negative self talk took only a minute.

How fast we can bring ourselves down. I went into the store and bought only what I had planned for dinner. No junk food or things I was not sup... Tue, 20 Aug 2013 21:10:32 EST Weigh in http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5459285 I weighed in today. Another pound down. That makes 16 since I started about 5 weeks ago. I think I need to stay closer to the lower end of my calories. I was doing that except this week with stress eating.

I am focusing on 1200 calories again this week. Today was a good day.

Sun, 18 Aug 2013 22:09:59 EST Stressful week http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5457446 It has been a week of stress for me. I ate within my range but always close to the top. It will be interesting to see how I do on weigh in Sunday. Fri, 16 Aug 2013 18:03:47 EST Managing http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5456481 Well, as I sit here with 300 calories left for dinner I was reflecting on my day.

I am trying to stay within calorie range and am doing very well. But, today I WANTED fried food and breads. I had a bagel for breakfast. I can't eat half because the best part is the top. Plus I feel deprived so I eat a big old Einstein Bagel and enjoy it.

I figured I would adjust to the calories later. But, I ended up an hour from home at lunch and I was hungry! The little town I wa... Thu, 15 Aug 2013 19:25:43 EST Weigh in day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5452137
Well, I have weighed again. I'm having a hard time believing the scale. It says I lost 3.6 pounds. I tend to wonder if part of it is water so I will say for now that I lost 2 pounds. I will count it all if it is still off next weigh in!

I'm thrilled. Counting the 2 makes 14 in a month! I have been consistent with my eating and had a balanced diet all month.

It appears it can be done if we set our minds to it! I continue to count days and only check my weig... I have wanted to eat all day. I thought about it so much I really thought I did until I tracked all my food. I am under calories for the day by 50. I have been staying at the low end but today we were having a family favorite for dinner and I wanted it so I altered the day to have it. So, I was at the higher end of my calorie range. I figure today was a big success. I hope dinner fills me up so I won't feel the need to e... I had to do other shopping as well so I ended up spending 5 hours doing the chore.

After that I came home and DH was working in the little house. Even though we got AC in there ...there is no insulation and it was 106 outside today. He is still wrapping the pipes with insulation before he can close it up and blow insulation in the attic. I have done pretty well but we have travelled two of those days. I find it hard to do well in restaurants. I know which ones I can go to and track fairly well but often DH goes to fast food or wants to try a new restaurant. I hate wasting my calories on fast food. I leave feeling hungry. I get sick of Subway although it is often my go to place for fast food.

Once again we will be on the road and at ballgames all night where goodies abound. I ... I got in almost 8000 and thought that was good for the day. However, by the time the end of the day came I had walked over 10,600!
