The reality is I am at pretty much the same place as I was then. The positive to that is that I maintained, not gained. I had my surgery on my wrist in Feb. and am finally out of the splint and within 2 weeks of the surgery I was off of all the pain meds. It is so nice to finally be off the pain meds especially after having been on one prescription pain med or another for the last 3 years. Being out of the splint means that I have no more... Mon, 16 Apr 2012 20:40:33 EST One year ago... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4525741 A year ago today we finally got to meet the new love of our lives, our precious youngest son!! It is so hard to believe that he has only been a part of our lives for a year. He has adjusted so well, as have the rest of us, that it seems as if he has been a part of our family since birth. There have been so many changes since those first few months home that we are still amazed at how easily everything has fit together for all of us. In preparation for the adoption they drill into you how th... Sat, 8 Oct 2011 16:54:25 EST September Recap http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4512022 As this is only my second blog of the month I obviously have not kept up with my goal of blogging at least once a week! My other goals were not met either:( I started out the month full of energy and ready to go but along the way I quickly lost my way. We went on a houseboat trip the second weekend and since then I just have not been able to find my motivation to get back on track. I am still feeling pretty good about my how my body looks but would really like to get some more energy back ag... Fri, 30 Sep 2011 12:07:04 EST Summer Recap! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4461309 Yes I still think of the beginning of school as the end of summer, and the way the weather has been this week it definitely is starting to feel like fall. I LOVE fall, the cool, crisp air, the wonderfully colorful leaves, the beautiful sunshine (hopefully), and the return to our normal routine! This summer has been pretty good, its really just been the last couple of weeks that I cannot wait for the kids to return to school, and they are ready for it too! I am finding it hard to follow any ... Thu, 1 Sep 2011 19:59:42 EST Ten more to Go!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4341233 So my goal was to be down to 145 for my brother's wedding but that was not to be! I still felt great and was totally comfortable with where I was at the wedding. The last few weeks have been going really good, I ran my first 5 K and almost made it under 40 minutes, I have continued to lose weight, and my energy is pretty good. My energy would probably be even better if I was not on meds that make me tired! I saw a surgeon on June 24th and she has agreed to do surgery on my wrist, finally so... Mon, 4 Jul 2011 20:59:31 EST Ran my first 5K http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4328096 This past Sunday my sister and I headed out to Stanley Park in Vancouver to participate in the ScotiaBank Half-Marathon and 5K. We were signed up to do the 5K, no where near ready for a half marathon but maybe, maybe one day, maybe!! The day was lovely, not rainy, not to hot. The course was beautiful!! It is always fun to run when there is something new and beautiful to look at!! My sister had not been training much but she kept up with me for the first half of the run and then told me to k... Tue, 28 Jun 2011 11:49:31 EST Bad Blogger http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4208383 So I have been really neglectful in blogging. Just nothing new going on! I am now on week 5 of couch to 5 K, doing it for the second week in a row as last week was just not a good week running wise! I still ran 3 days just could not complete the whole distances! This week I will do it!! My 5 k is June 26th so I still have some time but I would really like to be comfortable running 5 K before then! I signed up for Run for the Cure in October so I have quite a bit of time between runs so we'll... Tue, 3 May 2011 21:29:45 EST April is finally here!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4138429 So I haven't blogged for a while. Things have been busy, end of the hockey season wrapped up for my son, spring break for the 2 big kids, started a new job that takes up my evenings, and just life in general has kept me busy. Tomorrow the kids go back to school after 2 weeks of Spring Break! Looking forward to getting back to a routine, although they were gone for the first week so it actually went by pretty fast for me but the little one sure noticed the difference in our routine, although h... Sun, 3 Apr 2011 10:39:16 EST Don't wanna... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4054156 So this morning was my weigh in and I really did not want to update my weight here. I'm up 1.8 pounds. I knew that there would probably be a gain this week. Massive PMS cravings/binging and then TOM started yesterday. But I did record it and now I'll move on. This journey is about the long haul, getting healthy and I am trying to not focus so much on the scale as on the journey but it is still disappointing to post a gain! I need to come up with some better ways to cope with the PMS cravings.... Mon, 28 Feb 2011 11:54:57 EST 4 months with our new little one! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4044914 This week marked 4 months since the little guy came home to us! It has gone so fast. Two more months until we can finalize the adoption. It'll be strange to no longer have social workers involved in our lives after 3 and a half years! Who knows, maybe we will start over again for another one, but probably not. I don't think I would be able to get DH on board with that one! I would definitely say the honeymoon period is over. He has been pushing lately, especially with me as I am home with hi... Thu, 24 Feb 2011 16:29:17 EST The Promise of Spring http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4023159 This morning the sun was shining, snow was melting (despite a new skim of snow over night), and the temperature was rising. So I decided to head outside for my walk. Not nearly was many layers were needed today. It felt so nice to be outside! It brought me the promise of spring, when I can do my workout outside all the time. If I did not have to take the little one in the stroller with me for every workout I probably would have been out there way more already but the slippery road makes it ve... Wed, 16 Feb 2011 16:35:26 EST So long, farewell... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4001822 This week I finally got to say goodbye to the 170's again!!! I hope to never see them again 334 I changed things up a little bit, just by changing my breakfast. I have eaten cereal and fruit for breakfast for as long as I can remember. It's quick, easy, and I can get on my way fast. I have never been a big breakfast person but have always eaten breakfast. My simple change this last week, two slices of whole grain toast with peanut butter and banana. Yep, still quick, still easy, and... Tue, 8 Feb 2011 17:37:39 EST My new approach http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3978911 So another week without a loss, not that I was surprised! With TOM and going out on the weekend I am just glad it was not a gain. I know that I have to do better on the weekends, despite the fact that I don't track much on the weekends as I would rather spend time with the family then sit at the computer to track! But that does not give me a free pass for the weekends and I do really need to be more mindful of what I am eating at all times. I have come to the realization that I will not make ... Mon, 31 Jan 2011 22:38:03 EST Random Ramblings http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3966709 Don't really have that much to say, no big breakthroughs or anything over here. So this is just a random post about my last week.

I have banned Doritos from the house. My husband came home with them twice last week and I found out that I have NO WILLPOWER against them! I asked him to please not bring them into the house any more. He is welcome to eat them if he likes but I told him to please do it while he is at work and not to bring any here. He kind of made fun of me but I know t... Thu, 27 Jan 2011 17:04:35 EST Doctor's Appointment (possibly TMI) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3944900 So I had my physical with my doc today. Getting some blood work done to make sure my cardiac risks are low. My Dad has been having heart problems and I had read an article in "Health" magazine about what your pregnancies can say about your future health. Well, according to them, three things that I had during at least one pregnancy greatly increase my chances of developing heart disease. I had preeclampsia with both pregnancies, delivered my daughter at 36 weeks, and my daughter was 5 pounds ... Thu, 20 Jan 2011 17:11:31 EST Three months http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3934502 So on Friday it will be three months since our little guy came home to live with us! It really feels like he has always been a part of our family. Definitely the right kid for our family and worth the three year wait. I think that if nothing had happened by the end of 2010 we would have seriously considered pulling our names from the adoption waitlist, so I am so glad we have been blessed enough to have him in our family!!! He is now completely off the bottle, has not used his soother for the... Mon, 17 Jan 2011 18:06:00 EST Ten Reminders for 2011 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3884551 Wow, 2 entries in one day. A first from me. I just got this in an email from my mom and thought I would share it.

Someone has written these beautiful words. One must read and try to
understand the deep meanings in them. They are like the Ten Commandments
to follow in life all the time.

1] Prayer is not a "spare wheel" that you pull out when in trouble; it
is a "steering wheel" that directs us in the right path throughout life.

2]... Mon, 3 Jan 2011 14:26:23 EST 2011...Here I Come! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3884527 Well my plan for my holiday at my parents did not go the way I planned but I was still down 2 pounds this morning when I weighed in so I guess I still accomplished my goal! I am so ready for school to start again tomorrow so we can all get back to our normal routine. I like routine 30 Our holidays went so much better then I expected! Little one did great with meeting all of our family and with sleeping (which I was most worried about). In fact he slept better then he does at home! G... Mon, 3 Jan 2011 14:16:53 EST Two steps forward, one step back http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3853845 So after the good weigh in I had last week I ended up sick for the rest of the week and ended up gaining a pound. I decided that I should rest rather than push through the illness as I was hoping to get better faster that way. Unfortunately I also was tired and had no will power in the evening while my husband was snacking. I did pretty good during the days though and I guess I should be proud of that and happy that I only gained one pound! The week of rest from exercise did not help me get ... Mon, 20 Dec 2010 11:47:02 EST Down two pounds! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3842050 Now I know that 2 pounds is not much but I'm very excited by being down 2 pounds this week. I even had cookies and ice cream in the house, which of course I ate. I know that if I keep on the track I am on now the scale will continue it's downward journey. I also feel much better on the days that I eat well then on the days I don't. You would think that would be enough to make me not eat poorly but my self control is very weak still. I still l feel like I am faking it until I make it...how do ... Mon, 13 Dec 2010 18:22:17 EST Back at it again! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3813253 Last week was a frustrating and busy week. We had company over, which was great, but also meant not eating quite as well and having a few drinks. Needless to say I did not track much (although our dinners at home were still quite good), and have gained back the slight loss that I had had after I recommitted. BUT I am not going to let this stop me. I will conquer this and I WILL win! I found a Kathy Smith strength training DVD (Lift Weights for Weight Loss 2) for $5 so I picked it up. I've don... Mon, 29 Nov 2010 22:03:55 EST One day at a Time http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3785996 Today has been a frustrating day for me! Started out with the little one not wanting to eat breakfast, then late for a dentist appointment, then late for swimming lessons in which little one last all of 15 minutes! Thank goodness he is napping now!! I think things are feeling a bit overwhelming today as lack of sleep is catching up on me. He wakes up several times during the night and needs me to go in before he will go back to sleep. The last couple of nights he has even had his soother in h... Mon, 15 Nov 2010 17:42:54 EST One Month in.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3777158 Can't believe it has only been a month since we first met our new son!! He has been home with us for 3 weeks already and it feels like he has been with us forever. Things are going really well. Everyone is adjusting well and although I am busier than before I am content, although tired as he does not sleep through the night. In the midst of all this I really slacked off on my tracking, exercising, and eating well. This Monday I decided to go back to the beginning and start all over again. So... Thu, 11 Nov 2010 11:56:43 EST Recommit http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3512993 I started my Sparkpeople journey just over a year ago. I had been doing WeightWatchers online for the year before that and had managed to lose around 20 pounds over the course of the year. I switched to Spark for financial reasons fully expecting that I would lose the final few pounds and be able to keep it off. A year later, as a result of medication and lack of energy/enthusiasm caused in part by this medication, I am now heavier than I was when I started my original weight loss journey. I ... Sat, 7 Aug 2010 16:31:40 EST Progress??? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3420687 So things have not been going according to plan around here. The scale is going in the wrong direction and my Couch to 5 k training has vanished completely. We recently purchase a new house and so I've been working hard there with the renovations we are doing before we move in. This week I also go back to work full time for 2 weeks so I know I won't be finding a way to get a run in along with work and renovations! My kids have been gone for 2 weeks and will be gone for another 2 weeks and wh... Sun, 11 Jul 2010 16:12:33 EST In my dreams I'm a runner... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3231005 Yep for some reason in my dreams I am a runner so I finally decided that I'm going to become one! Starting Monday I will be doing the Couch to 5 k training program. I am excited and nervous about this! We live right on a highway and for the past year I have used this as an excuse not to do this, did not want to look foolish running down the highway even though I walk it all the time. I have mapped out a route in a different direction from where I usually walk, where I don't know the people wh... Fri, 14 May 2010 22:14:37 EST
