DETERMINED_ME's SparkPeople Blog DETERMINED_ME's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Oops So it turns out this month as been more of a slacker month than anticipated...September is usually a great month for me losing weight and getting back on track but this September has been a month of maintenance and self indulgence. Well, maybe only a little indulgence but it's just been that kind of month. I am happy to report though that I feel GREAT! I currently weigh around 202 lbs and I feel great. I have been maintaining that weight for about 6 months and only fluctuate 2 to 3 lbs. ... Sun, 24 Sep 2017 11:12:24 EST Monday
Working out has always been a downfall of mine, so I've been trying to stay mindfull of that and push myself EVERYDAY to do at least my 10/7 workout. (Picture on the right) Plus I'm adding in planks and extra jumping jacks and whatever else I can throughout the day. I'm determined you fit into my size 14 jeans more comfortably by the end of the month. It's not about the scale this month its abo... Mon, 4 Sep 2017 13:02:48 EST September 2017 goals
This month it's refocus and reevaluate my routine. Goals for September are simple. STAY FOCUSED AND STAY ENERGIZED! #ACCOUNTABILITY is important but I'm only accountable to myself as I am the only one that can do for me. We are strong! We are able! Make it happen! Fri, 1 Sep 2017 15:05:42 EST 27 Day Squat Challenge Today is day 27 of the 27 Day Squat challenge I did this month. 100 squats done today, plus I do what I call a 10/7 daily workout which includes an additional 20 squats... I almost quit a couple of different times but I kept myself accountable and am happy that I finished the challenge. Thinking I may do it again in June as I'll be making a cross country road trip and this would be easy to maintain... Sat, 27 May 2017 12:47:11 EST Update on May challenge This month for the first time I committed myself to an exercise challenge...I've done this several times and by day 4 or 5 I quit...Well, today we are finished with day 14 the end of week 2 of my challenge and it's going great! Sun, 14 May 2017 13:15:19 EST Stalled but not beaten In March I hit ONEderland, it didn't last long...I went back up to 202 and I'm pretty much sitting there right now. Tomorrow starts a new month and I'm SET!! I am taking on 2 challenges for exercise because as always in the past that has been my downfall...

My goal for May is to do a 27 day squat challenge I found on Pinterest and I'm also doing what I am calling 10 for 7...Which is doing 7 exercises 10 times each...

10 jumping jacks
10 squats
10 calf raises ... Sun, 30 Apr 2017 14:28:10 EST ONEderland Today I hit a huge milestone for me...I am in ONEderland. 199.6 which is a 1.2 lb loss from last weeks weigh in and I'm under 200 lbs. I'm just so excited, I've been trying to get below 200 since 2007 when I first joined SP.

Now I KNOW I can make my goal.

Happy person right here!

Spark on my friends

Tami Thu, 9 Mar 2017 11:39:26 EST March 1st It's the start of a new month! I'm ready!! 9 I didn't quite make my goal for February, I am down to 201 not under 200 but I'm okay with that, it's still progress.

For this month I am focusing on getting to 198 I know that is only 3 lbs but with the weather here, I'm still not getting out to do as much walking as I need to be. I am pretty excited about this month, I foresee it being a SPARKERRIFIC month and I'mm going to make it just that.

My husband is d... Wed, 1 Mar 2017 12:46:09 EST February 1 Wow, where did January go?? I could have sworn it was just New Years Day and now it's February 1...

Time to set my goals for this month.

#1: Get back to walking...The weather here has not been good for walking in (2 ft of snow on the ground) and now that that is settling down we'll get back to it.

#2: Focus on getting in plenty of water daily (usually I manage a minimum of 64 oz)

#3: This is a toughie because anytime I set this goal, I struggle w... Wed, 1 Feb 2017 12:05:12 EST January Reflection This has been a good month...Not for any particular reason other than I say it's been a good month.

I haven't done much this month, the weather has been too cold to get out and do our daily walks so I've been doing walking in the house and some weights. I'm down to 202, so it's a small weight loss this month but I'm thrilled to be so close to ONEderland. I know for sure February will be my month to get into ONEderland for the first time in 15 years. 104

... Sat, 28 Jan 2017 19:08:34 EST Reflection & New goals As I reflect on 2016 on this night before we head into 2017 I realize how difficult and how rewarding this past year has been. It started with my husband Paul being confined to a wheelchair and ending with both of us being stronger than ever. We lost my mom and a dear friend (a parental figure) but we gained strength and wisdom. I have learned to deal with grief and happiness at the same time. My family has grown closer together and between my husband and myself we have lost 200 lbs this year... Sun, 1 Jan 2017 13:55:17 EST What's different? Over the last last 7 months things have changed dramatically for my DH and myself. This change has literally changed who we are. I feel like a different person while my husband looks and feels like a different person. What makes this time different??

First, I believe that the gastric sleeve surgery my DH had has made a huge difference...Well of course it has, his stomach is now the size of a medium banana so he has to eat a lot less...
Secondly, my mindset has changed. ... Thu, 8 Dec 2016 10:27:45 EST December Goals It's been a while since I've set any goals regarding my weight loss. Not that I'm not losing weight, it's just I haven't set any goals recently to get my to my final goal so I decided that I would make a goal for the month of December.

So this is my goal for the month of December and how I will reach my goal
1. To lose 5 lbs this month (final weigh in on Dec. 31)
a. Hit a minimum of 5000 steps per day (preferably 7000-10,000)
b. Track every morsel of food... Fri, 2 Dec 2016 16:25:01 EST Two Months ago Whoops! I didn't blog last month...Oh well, no biggie. Life is moving along quite nicely right now. My DH is doing great, is down 91 lbs since May 4th and he's walking without any assistance! As for me...Well, I'm happy to say I'm down 60.5 lbs this year with 41 of that being since May. I am so happy with our progress. 9

Our house is coming along wonderfully with it's remodel. Funding ran out so we've stopped where we're at which luckily is not a bad place...We ... Tue, 18 Oct 2016 16:56:16 EST One Month One month goes by so fast...One month ago today my mom passed away. It's been up and down for me emotionally but overall I'm doing alright. My weight is staying steady not losing right now but that will change...This coming Saturday we will be putting my mom's ashes in her niche next to my dad and near her parents (my grandparents), I believe this will help with some closure. Monday we're going to start cleaning out her house, that's going to take quite a while as she was becoming a hoarde... Thu, 18 Aug 2016 20:12:36 EST Pushing through Things have been moving along this month, Paul had his surgery on July 6th and he's doing great...Down 20+ lbs already (he had the gastric sleeve surgery)...The bathroom remodel is not done per-say but it's in a good place and getting there...

On July 18th after struggling with the healing of her femur and other issues my mother passed away. The last week has been rough and I'm sure I'm in for more rough days as it seems to be hitting me much harder than I expected it to. 46<... Sun, 24 Jul 2016 19:19:57 EST Moving along nicely It's been just over a month since my last check in...It's been busy around our place with my DH getting ready for his gastric sleeve surgery on the 6th of July, my mom breaking her femur bone in May and is recovering in a nursing/rehabilitation center, plus I pulled my IT band muscle in my right hip (how is unknown)....On top of all that we're trying to get our house ready for a new bathroom, the house to be leveled and new floors installed plus the walls painted...So like I said, a busy mont... Tue, 28 Jun 2016 14:52:30 EST Another Month I'm down another 3 lbs so I'm happy with that. It's not a lot but considering my stress level lately I'm pretty proud of myself.

Things are still moving along for my hubby's gastric bypass...Psychologist done, now on to nutritionist and then we go from there...We've made a lot of changes to our eating, I'm shopping weekly and over 90% of what I buy now is veggies...It's definitely a change but I am very happy with this change as are the kids.

Well, life is busy busy... Fri, 20 May 2016 18:42:47 EST Tracking I'm struggling with tracking foods...Oh wait, I've always struggled with that...I am doing fairly well though, it's a slow process but the number on the scale is going down and I am much more mindful of how much I eat. I'm still eating what I want to eat, just making my portion sizes much smaller.

I've created a tracker in my journal for my weight, thinking I might try the same with my fruits, veggies, and water to see if that helps any. I am drinking lots of water and soda onl... Mon, 18 Apr 2016 13:49:49 EST Still here It's been 2 months since I've blogged but I'm still around. I'm down 15 lbs and still slowly going at it.

My husband is officially confined to a wheelchair due to the numbness, weakness, and pain in his back and legs. His Dr's are trying to get him the gastric bypass to help him lose weight as he's still over 350 and can't do much exercise wise. If that happens, it will be another road of recovery and more pain for him but over all, it could reduce his pain and make him more "... Mon, 21 Mar 2016 11:03:47 EST SparkCoach I realized today that I truly need to get back to the basics and learn how to focus on what's needed to lose weight. I've been doing what I remember but apparently I don't remember as much as I thought I did so today I joined SparkCoach and am starting with my fast break.

Maybe by getting back to the basics I can figure out how to fit fitness in with all the other things going on in my life. But then wait, I have time on the computer, I should be able to make time for fitness t... Wed, 20 Jan 2016 22:00:50 EST Happy New Year I can't believe it's already the 13th day of 2016...So far these last two weeks have not been the healthiest but have not been the worst. The worst part right now is we are broke and have no veggies or fruits in the house. 24 Luckily, we get paid on Friday so we'll be able to stock up then. My husband had a lot of Dr's appointment this month (we only get paid once a month) so we spent extra on gas as all the appointments are at least 60 miles from home. Oh well, life goes on... Wed, 13 Jan 2016 12:01:47 EST Beginning with my daughter My daughter Cassie is 13, she weighs around 170 lbs and is starting to lose confidence in herself. So...To help her I suggested SparkTeens...She joined today. I thought of SparkTeen because then she can associate with other teens that are beginning to feel the same about themselves and so she has someone her age that might be able to help boost her confidence. Also her and I are starting an exercise program together (at home since we can't afford a gym or anything like that). We'll set up... Thu, 10 Dec 2015 14:51:50 EST Time flies So often time just gets away from me...I haven't lost anything from my last post, I will admit that I have been working on NOT stress eating.

My MIL was moved again, this time from the duplex across the street from us into a nursing home (where she should have gone to begin with). That has taken some stress off me since I no longer have to care for her.

My DH had surgery on the 20th of November to have his pain stimulator in him spine removed because he needs MRI's to f... Tue, 8 Dec 2015 21:31:37 EST Hello It's been a month since I've posted here. I am happy to say that I am down 10 lbs since my last check in. I'm happy with that as I am fitting into jeans that I haven't been able to fit into in over 1-1/2 years. That's good for me. 30

Had a lot going on here...My MIL moved to Washington from Texas, she has many health issues and needed to be closer to family. Well, she lives in the duplex across the street from us so she's definitely close.

As many of you... Tue, 21 Jul 2015 22:11:06 EST Tired I'm tired of not liking how I look...
I'm tired of not being the person I want to be...
I'm tired of living my life feeling like I'm not myself...
I'm tired of making excuses...

Today I am making a menu, I am setting a schedule for my daily routine, I am getting myself back on track, and I am getting my family on track for the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Funny, I blog and I blog but nothing comes of it. I realized that I can say anything I want via writi... Mon, 8 Jun 2015 16:02:40 EST Looking for motivation I lost my want, my need, and my dream to be healthy.

Actually, other than being obese I am healthy according to my Dr and all the tests I've had done lately. Obese? I guess weighing in at almost 280 is obese, I don't even know where to begin anymore.

My husband has always been very supportive of whatever I choose to do but it's so difficult for me to stay focused when I'm trying to deal with his health issues, take care of the kids, and keep the house clean...the i... Thu, 29 Jan 2015 12:17:48 EST Trying to make a comeback Darn it, it's the same words I've used before...When will the roller coaster end? Wish I could blame someone other than myself.

Quitting is so much easier than continuing on. Thought I had found my way, thought my focus was in the right place...Guess that focus wasn't as "focused" as I thought.

Time for a new plan...Starting from the beginning, nothing else will do. So I am trying to make a comeback...Is this even possible this time around? I have so much trouble... Sat, 14 Dec 2013 18:06:34 EST Moved Well, we are all moved into our new house. It's great! We still have much to do with unpacking but all in all we are feeling settled.

My healthy lifestyle has not been the healthiest as of late but it will get better. I am holding steady and am continuing to get at least some fitness in each and every day.

Life is good! Sat, 13 Jul 2013 01:12:06 EST 174 Down ~ 191 to go More packing done today...Tomorrow I will hopefully finish the play area and get a good start on the daughter's room. Mon, 24 Jun 2013 00:09:29 EST 173 Down ~ 192 to go Yard sale was slow but we did earn enough to cover the cost of the moving truck so that is great! Sun, 23 Jun 2013 00:53:02 EST 172 Down ~ 193 to go I think we're ready for the moving/yard sale tomorrow...I'll be at work so Paul has to deal with it. I'll finish helping getting it set up in the morning before I head to work but then it's up to Paul until I got off about 4pm.

1 more week and we'll be in our new house. Sat, 22 Jun 2013 01:14:33 EST 171 Down ~ 194 to go Today has been packing, packing, and more getting ready for the yard sale this weekend...Before we know it it's going to be moving day. I have to work the weekend we are moving, it's my last weekend on the job. I feel bad that it's going to be Paul and the kids that will be doing most of the moving, but I'll do as much packing as I can while we are getting ready and I'll do most of the unpacking once we get moved. I am looking forward to that part.

Tomorrow will b... Thu, 20 Jun 2013 23:40:35 EST 170 Down ~ 195 to go Work today then packed a bit after I got home. Sun, 16 Jun 2013 01:29:30 EST 165 Down ~ 200 to go We have begun the packing...I do not like packing but unpacking can be fun. Although, I have to admit, I am looking forward to getting my hands in the dirt at the new place...I'm going to do very little this summer, add some bulbs in fall, then come spring, boy I'm going to be busy! 1/2 acre to play with, it's going to be fun!! I'm going to study up to figure out what will work best for color almost all year round.

Can't wait to get moved!! Sat, 15 Jun 2013 00:52:39 EST 164 Down ~ 201 to go Copying directly from hubby's blog:

Well, I know some of you are waiting..... WE GOT THE HOUSE!!!! Thu, 13 Jun 2013 01:05:28 EST 162 Down ~ 203 to go First time this year that I forgot to blog...Yesterday we got new phones and I was so engrossed in setting mine up, I completely forgot to blog & I forgot to spin the wheel... 46 Which means I broke my 239 day streak on day 240 all because I forgot. Oh well, guess I begin that one again.

Went tonight to look at the house inside that I fell in love with the outside...The inside is cute, small but cute and totally something we could be happy in. So now we wait and see if ... Wed, 12 Jun 2013 00:20:01 EST 160 Down ~ 205 to go I spent the day at a friends house helping her set up her new "smart TV". That was fun, I love new toys. Of course, now I want one...Not going to get one, but I want one just to have another toy 246

Anyway, it's been a good day. Tomorrow is the last Monday we have to get the kids off to school until September. My little girl is not so little anymore, she'll be heading to 6th grade while my little man will be heading to First grade...Oh how the time goes by so fas... Sun, 9 Jun 2013 23:57:17 EST 159 Down ~ 206 to go I'm in love! Isn't it funny how we can fall in love with a house without truly seeing it? What I mean is, we went to look at this house an hour away from where we currently live, I have never been to this little tiny town and knew nothing of it until this house was found on craigslist. So today we (the 4 of us) took a drive to go see the outside of this house, we could also see the rooms downstairs through the windows but the owner was unavailable to meet us today to show us inside. So wa... Sun, 9 Jun 2013 00:46:17 EST 158 Down ~ 207 to go I was really tired today...All the stuff going on makes me tired. I finally woke up (really work up) when I was at work. Of course I was moving a lot while at work. Now I'm ready to head to bed, tomorrow we're taking a drive to somewhere we've never to been to check out a house that looks interesting on line. Should be a nice adventure! Sat, 8 Jun 2013 01:17:54 EST 157 Down ~ 208 to go Today turned out to be a decent day, the weather was beautiful and the paperwork I had to help my mom with turned out to be much easier because she had already done most of it 2 years ago. Go figure! 246

I've had a good walk today and am feeling good. Fri, 7 Jun 2013 01:07:57 EST 156 Down ~ 209 to go Decided to take advantage of the nice weather this morning and took a walk before I headed off to work as in, I walked to Isaiah's bus stop this instead of driving him there. Came home and actually wished I had a bicycle to ride to work, naw...Not really it just was a thought for about 2 seconds. It's not that I couldn't ride to work, as it's not that far but I don't really want to. After work I walked again...This time to go get Isaiah from the bus stop. 334 I did walk almost... Thu, 6 Jun 2013 00:34:00 EST 155 Down ~ 210 to go It's been a good day! Walked Isaiah to the bus stop, then off to work where I was semi busy for the day, came home walked to the bus stop to get Isaiah from the bus. It was a beautifully sunny warm day today and just made it a good day. Tue, 4 Jun 2013 23:53:31 EST 154 Down ~ 211 to go Took my mom to the doctors today, she has to have more tests done. She had a stroke about 2 or 3 weeks ago and so they are running tests to see if the problems she's having has to do with that or if they are from something else. Only time will tell.

Tue, 4 Jun 2013 00:35:16 EST 153 Down ~ 212 to go Today for me was a fairly lazy day...I have to say, I enjoyed it immensely! I did really nothing today other then play on the computer and read...Paul went to his meeting with Cassie, Isaiah stayed home with me but he was out with his little friends playing outside so I just enjoyed myself trying not to think of troubles, just losing myself in my play and books...Of course I'd check outside to watch Isaiah and his little friends playing.

Now it's about time to head to bed to get a... Mon, 3 Jun 2013 00:34:18 EST 152 Down ~ 213 to go Another day in the books. Had a good day at work, then came home to my beautiful children, grandchildren, Step-son, and of course my wonderful hubby! Had to run up to Mom's to help her with her oxygen tank then came home to eat pizza and have a drink. Seems to be something I needed. A lot on my mind lately and not sure where to go with it all.

It will all come together somehow some way.

Sun, 2 Jun 2013 01:53:05 EST
