Fri, 28 May 2010 11:58:41 EST Couch to 5K: Week 1 I finished C25K week 1 last night! I'm excited by how well it went, but I'm nervous by how fast it went! During Ab Ripper X, the first exercise - In and Outs - I've been holding my back steady like we used to do in Pilates class and have only been moving the bottom half of me in and out. It dawned on me the folks in the video were moving their top half in and out, too! Doh! So, I got to add that little bonus move in and get some brand new soreness this week! Good stuff.

I'm finally making some progress on the different variations of pull-ups. T... Fri, 14 May 2010 14:03:09 EST Organic and Brown Eggs Aren't Always Better I read an interesting article this morning on Yahoo! Green's "The Conscious Consumer" blog here:

onsumer/132/four-myths-about-eggs.html
.

The article debunks four myths about eggs, and I certainly learned something new.

The first myth is brown vs. white eggs. Wed, 12 May 2010 09:59:57 EST P90X: Phase II Week 1 After all the stops and total restarts... I think I'm finally back to where I left off on my blog!

I just finished Phase II Week 1 with tomorrow being my recovery day.

One thing I have learned in the last couple of months is I'm definitely the morning workout type. I tried switching my workouts to nights for a month, and there was definitely a big difference! I have a lot more energy (even though it's 4:00 a.m.!) than I do after a day of full time work and an evening... Fri, 7 May 2010 14:10:15 EST Goals for February My first goal for February is to eliminate the WINTER BLUES. We have had a rough winter, and I'm so ready to get it out of my system! Mon, 1 Feb 2010 12:36:09 EST P90X: Phase II These past two weeks have been a challenge for us. From freezing temps to visiting relatives to strep throat... our workouts have been very sporadic and included lots of skipped days.

I'm feeling so much better now and thankfully we are back to "Bringing It"!

To make up for those lost days, we've decided to extend Phase II by two weeks. Unfortunately this means some of my Spark Friends will be leaving me behind, but we want to get the full benefits of P90X and it feels... Mon, 14 Dec 2009 10:53:45 EST P90X: Recovery Week I learned something Saturday (my rest day). I realized the next day was the beginning of my recovery week, and I was actually disappointed! I didn't expect to like the strength training as much as I do.

I am so happy to report that my % of body fat has gone down a little bit more, but my weight has gone back up. That means I am gaining muscle! I'm fine with losing some body fat, but I really didn't want to lose any of my size.

I didn't do Kenpo this morning. I actua... Tue, 24 Nov 2009 10:45:03 EST P90X Day 19: Mission "Tonedest" Bootie Last week I made my distaste for P90X Legs & Back known. I got some great advice from my Spark Friends on how to push through. It basically involves hunky rewards, picturing my bootie, and picturing the booties of my friends. LOL. P90X Legs & Back is now P90X: Mission "Tonedest" Bootie. I'm happy to report I actually enjoyed Legs & Back today!

Now, for the sake of full disclosure - I wasn't jumping out of bed at the chance to retry this workout. It was, of course, the coldest day of the year so far, but the sky could not have been clearer. Those meteors were like fireballs across the sky. Unfortunately I didn't get to stay outside long. P90X Shoulders & Arms was calling.

The only real update I have about Shoulders & Arms is I've decided not to do the lying down Tricep exercise. This is one of the best annual meteor showers and since the moon is just starting to come out of the new moon phase, there is a great chance it will be a pretty impressive shower this year.

The best time to go outside is between 1 a.m. and dawn - regardless of where you live. Mon, 16 Nov 2009 12:09:32 EST P90X Day 12: Frustrated I'm really having "one of those days".

It seems like everyone has a specific P90X video that just is not their cup of tea. Mine would be Legs and Back. I get in the worst mood during this workout. Last week my floor + my shoes were ruining the leg (lunges) workouts and making me angry. I stole my kids' floor mats today because they are the kind you put under gym equipment. I thought that would make me happy, but today I'm cussing the pull up bar.

What is up with tha... Thu, 12 Nov 2009 10:15:41 EST P90X Day 11: Yoga X + Lemon Water Yoga X: I wish I could just do the second half twice. Wed, 11 Nov 2009 10:52:48 EST P90X Day 10: Shoulders and Arms I got some new dumbbells. Nothing fancy. Just some neoprene dumbbells from Target. That being said - I *loved* Shoulders and Arms today. So much better than trying to use the bands!

I'm going to have to post a question somewhere regarding the Flip-Grip Twist Tricep Kickbacks, but I'll mention it here, too, in case someone has a suggestion. Mon, 9 Nov 2009 09:55:05 EST P90X Day 6: Kenpo X Today was Kenpo X!

According to Wikipedia - "American Kenpo or Kenpo Karate is a system of martial arts ... characterized by the use of quick moves in rapid-fire succession intended to overwhelm an opponent. Thu, 5 Nov 2009 10:33:14 EST P90X Day 3: Shoulders & Arms My workout left something to be desired today. My plan was to strictly use resistance bands throughout P90X. The guys in the video don't seem to have trouble with them, but I do. With the exception of pull ups, I'm *hating* the bands. I'll have new dumbbells before Sunday's Back and Chest.

I've been writing down my reps/weights on the fitness guide sheets, and today I learned to pay attention to the exercise name.
