Sat, 12 Jul 2008 21:06:21 EST Getting into the swing of things OK, I've got this carb cycling thing worked out now.

I definitely need to stick to the order of "High-low-no". If I have a "high" day and know a no-carb day is next, I'll binge to make up for it. No good. And I think my body really needs a high-carb day immediately after the no-carb. I can tell in my morning run that my stamina just isn't there after a day with no starchy carbs.

Today was high carb day, and I've finally got it down comfortably so I don't eat too much a... Sat, 12 Jul 2008 16:10:12 EST I Did It! Actual workout today:

35-40 minutes run/jog, with a full-out level 10 wind sprint at the end. (Channeling my frustration with my ex boyfriend is a *great* way to find energy when I'm tired!!)

Bridge ups - I don't think my form was very good, but I did 75 of them. Wasn't to failure because I just didn't think I was doing them right in the first place.

Bridges - 115 - I wasn't keeping my glutes fully contracted through the whole exercise, but once I realized tha... Sat, 12 Jul 2008 06:41:57 EST My Mayhem Challenge Today for project Mayhem our assignment is to choose our own torture.

OK. I'm gonna regret this. But what I'm planning to do in a few minutes...

30-45 min cardio

The following exercises to failure:
Bridge ups (for abs)
Bridges (glutes)
Crunches
Skater squats

Dips (the kind we do in my yoga class - you sit upright on the ground with your hands a few inches to the side and behind your butt, then push up while contracting your abs. ... Sat, 12 Jul 2008 04:27:26 EST Carb Cycling Update Well, I've now made it through one of each types of the carb cycling days. I like low-carb day best, actually.

The no-carb day on Tuesday was really tough. Biking to work and functioning in an overly-warm office all day on no starchy carbs was rough. I just felt unsatisfied all day. Partly psychological, I'm sure, but it was still hard. I ate heaps and heaps of veggies to make up for it, but then I just felt physically full and still craving something...

Yesterday was h... Thu, 10 Jul 2008 15:45:58 EST Note to Self Scheduling high carb day on my day off from work is a sure-fire way to accomplish a whole lot of NOTHING!

Without the time pressure to get up and get out the door, I slept in too late, ate a delicious breakfast of oatmeal-eggwhite pancakes, and now want to curl up in a ball and go back to sleep. I had planned to do a long run today, but I just don't want to leave the apartment...

Just gotta do it. I know once I get going the muscle soreness will ease up and I'll have mo... Wed, 9 Jul 2008 05:54:40 EST Mayhem Accomplished! I got lucky today - it rained last night (again) but the ground wasn't too soggy this morning. Here's what I tortured myself with before work:

10-15 Minutes BRISK warm up cardio.

3 rounds of the following

50 Sit-ups (or crunches)
50 Dips
10 Walking Lunges (each leg)
25 Push-ups (normal hand position)
50 squats
50 butterfly kicks
25 Push-ups (hands close together with thumbs touching)

10 minutes BRISK cardio (don’t cheat... Tue, 8 Jul 2008 04:02:55 EST Carb Cycling Day One OK, no carb day is NOT fun. Mind you, I'm eating lots of green veggies for bulk, and there are carbs in them, but today I had no grains or legumes at all. I was starving all morning despite two large servings of veggies and protein before noon. By afternoon I had eaten enough cabbage salad with eggplant and tuna (tastes better than it sounds!) to fill my stomach up, but my mind kept drifting to oatmeal. And fruit. I didn't even think of sugary things, I just wanted complex carbs. Oh man, I CA... Mon, 7 Jul 2008 15:47:15 EST OK, I know everyone says this... I get to (have to?) do all my workouts outdoors, and it dumped rain last night. Ground and everything else are totally soggy and muddy. I'm already really sore from my leg workout and yoga yesterday, plus I urgently have to grocery shop before work today, so I switched up the carb cycling and will do tomorrow low-carb and workout.

Cherrydoll, I think this is the same as calorie cycling, or works out the same. Keeping fat and protein relatively the same, I cycle high/low/no carb day... Mon, 7 Jul 2008 02:54:32 EST Project Mayhem! OK, I joined the project Mayhem group today. Will try to do one of the workouts before work tomorrow. Starting carb cycling today - hope this works! Sun, 6 Jul 2008 18:16:15 EST
