I get there, read the posts and start my reply and bang! PC shuts down. I am okay logging my food, visiting friend feed and going to people's pages, but no team threads. I will send a note to SP Technical Support and hope they can assist. In the meantime, I am here doing what I can but miss visiting my teams. Will keep working on it.

Have a great week! The papa peacock greeted us by flying onto the roof, and then walking up to the front porch as we inspected the home. The family disappeared after 2 years. We heard the momma hen got taken by a predator and the teenage male was hit by a car. No word on big proud poppa. But, he's back. By himself, but here. Thu, 10 May 2012 16:35:25 EST Some Interesting Things from my Dr. visit http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4871235 So, I went for my annual today. And also to go over lab work from March. It was a new PA, a cute little girl who was very thorough. We talked about my history, etc.

My lab work wasn't great but it wasn't horrible. I already knew that from a phone conversation in March with the receptionist. No meds required. This Dr. office does not believe in excess medication which is why I switched. This PA falls in line with that.

The 3 interesting things. I had lab work done last ... Wed, 11 Apr 2012 15:16:24 EST Chew, chew, chew http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4827368 I am a little behind on my blogs. This is what I learned when I did the 3 day Green Smoothie Challenge back in mid March.

After the challenge was over, I went to raw salads for lunch and raw soups for dinner for a couple of days, to ease back in. And of course found myself chewing. I had missed Chewing. And I found myself slowing down. I was wondering, how on earth had I been swallowing with those large chunks of food in my mouth! So I slowed down, way down. I drank water in betwe... Mon, 9 Apr 2012 16:20:07 EST Upping my exercise and back on plan http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4801632 Just a note to say that I am on Leslie's 2 mile walk instead of one. I aim to be on the 3 mile by the end of the month. And I am back on a plan. Green Smoothie in the morning, raw salad or soup for lunch and then a clean, healthy, possibly vegan dinner at night. Snacks will be raw. And I will only weight on Monday mornings!

I also read the SP motivational page by Dean Anderson on intrinsic motivation. Very insightful and I love charts. It was emotionally low, eating low, decision making low... and I woke up incredibly depressed about it all. I am working what the trigger(s) might have been. Family? Weight? Numbers? Usually it takes more than one to set me off.

One of the biggest was knowing that going from the 3 day smoothie challenge where I barely was able to make 800 calories a day and even though I brought it up to 900 calories the first day back, I gained 1.5 lbs. Hit 188 this morning. It feels pretty good. 2 more lbs and I will hit my first goal of losing 10% of my body weight. 21 lbs! Haircut here I come.

It is also the 3rd day of the Green Smoothie Challenge. 3 smoothies a day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Some of the highlights:

Went to a birthday party and drank water. No food. I ate gazpacho right before I left and took raw veggies as a back up. Not needed. I just stayed in the living room away fr... I put quotes around it because when I think of a "Cleanse", I think of water or juice cleanses. That's not what I did. It is a 28 day green smoothie, raw lunch with a vegan dinner. Believe it or not, I found one on Whole Living. Yes, I know. It's Martha Stewart but it sounded reasonable and doable. The first week was all green smoothies and raw. And it went well. I did go through a little detox I think. Nothing major. I was a bit more regular and one day ... Wed, 14 Mar 2012 20:48:59 EST I'm a little bummed... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4784226 I just got off the phone with my Drs office. My wellness check up isn't until 3/22 but my lab work was back. I asked her to read some of it to me. Well, my AIC was the same as it was last Fall, 6.4. That's not horrible, but I was expecting under 6.0. My FBS had improved, from 134 to 122. And it hasn't been over 120 in the last week from my own tests. But she said some of my cholesterol levels were out of whack. I was hoping they'd improved. Darn! I guess I am going to have to try harder. It's... I also have Stevia, maple syrup and local raw honey. I don't use them very often either but I keep reading to find out which one is the best. I think it is depending on the circumstance, person and need. But here is a pretty good article on agave. It seems like it is just going to be a one sided view against agave but they do give it its due also. So just thought I'd share.

This is the last sentence:

"In the end... They have been giving me trouble since last Labor Day. Awful pain. I was on vacation at the time so muddled through with tylenol, sensodyne toothpaste, etc. When I came back I went straight to the dentist. They took xrays and yes, I could see a small dark area around both bad teeth. He sent me across the street to a dental surgeon to make an appt for my root canals. The office was closed that day. My DS and DIL decided to go to the movies late afternoon and plans changed. Tuesday is originally pizza night... panic! Change! Look left. Look right. Breath deep. I am struggling with the same 2-3 lbs. Back and forth. But, the really great news! For the first time in 15 years my blood work came back with all my cholesterol levels in the right place! Even with meds my good cholesterol would just not get above 38. I needed 40. What was it last week??? 45!!! I need to ignore the scale and see the best results possible, better health. That is what it's all about, isn't it? :)

March in review A... Fri, 26 Mar 2010 11:46:51 EST Tense? Need a massage? I looked for some jokes and then decided I needed to lift myself up a bit. So sat in my chair thinking. And then I heard this noise. An animal noise. It wasn't chirping like a bird but lower. I turned around and spotted a squirrel coming down from one of the trees. He had been routing around and probably checking for our cat. I watched him awhile and then realized I was really happy I wasn't that squirrel living in a ... Tue, 16 Mar 2010 18:48:56 EST Is the Weekend Over? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2999888 That was too fast. Of course, did not get everything done. But what did I do? I walked with Leslie and walked outside all 3 days (I count Friday!).
I made a new recipe tonight and my DH is still complementing me. (Thai Chicken thighs with cucumber raita).
I grocery shopped for almost the entire week and even have meals planned. (Stew, corned beef and cabbage, turkey burgers, left overs with lots of salad and veggies). Went to a friend's 50th Birthday party and spent a few hours w... She had been married to one of my dad's brothers for over 60 years. My dad had a family of 8 kids so this did not happen to be a family I saw very often. I hadn't seen my aunt and uncle in 35 years. Can you believe that?? And they live 2.5 hours away. Strange...

But, I went and sat with one of my other cousins who I saw a bit more frequently during the years but not much. Wed, 10 Mar 2010 15:21:30 EST Sharing Recipes: Zucchini and Asparagus http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2966848 Since our Alternate Challenge is all about green veggies, I thought I'd find a few tried and true recipes for my favorite green veggies. Although, I have been stretching my usuals to include some kale (tonight with a turkey leg left over from Thanksgiving) and eggplant. I made the best eggplant parmesan the other night. Even my DH who doesn't like eggplant raved. (I used egg beaters instead of eggs, whole wheat bread crumbs and I did brown it in olive oil. )

Here is a zucchini reci... Sat, 6 Mar 2010 19:50:29 EST Sharing Recipes/Kale Gratin and French Style Shrimp Salad http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2957733 I'm going to continue with this theme as I know I will never run low of things to post. :) And it's helping me weed out my recipes. If I won't share them, I don't need them (too difficult, not healthy enough, etc).

Both of these are really good. I have made them. :) The Kale Gratin goes well with pork chops and a salad. And I love Nicoise salad, this is just a little different. I also add asaparagus to mine as well.

Kale and Turkey Bacon Gratin
South Beach Recipe ... Thu, 4 Mar 2010 12:03:02 EST
