I've challenged myself to exercise a minimum of 30 minutes each day. Today I cycled for 45 minutes and completed my fifth consecutive day. Setting a small goal of 30 minutes makes it more manageable and I'm finding myself exceeding the 30 minutes most of the time. I really need to keep up the momentum because I failed during the maintenance stage of my weight loss when I gained 25 pounds back of my 50 pounds lost. Fri, 4 Dec 2015 19:53:46 EST Goal of 30 minutes cardio every day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6040679 Today is day two. Walked on lunch hour 35 minutes. Tue, 1 Dec 2015 13:31:13 EST Cycling http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5200604 I put my bike on a trainer and I'm really getting into biking. My goal is to bike four times a week for sixty minutes and two days of strength training. My workout partner just moved back home and I'm excited to do the fun exercising too. We love to snow shoe, skate ski, downhill ski and jog. I'm excited, but I struggle to focus less on my weight and more on a lifestyle change. I just feel like I don't have the patience. Thu, 10 Jan 2013 13:44:56 EST Schools Done-No Excuses http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4348330 May 14th I graduated from college after setting out three years ago to finally finish my Bachelors Degree. While in school I struggled to keep up with my workouts, work schedule and homework needs. I first sacrificed sleep and then came my work outs. When school was done I bought a road bike for a graduation present and found some people to bike with. Although I'm biking 100 miles per week I'm still struggling to take off the 15 pounds I gained over the last year and a half and its direct... Thu, 7 Jul 2011 22:46:55 EST I DID IT!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1282381 Today I weighed in at 134.5...that is 15 pounds less than my original goal of 150. I first set the goal of 150 in Nov 2006. I met that goal last summer and still wanted to lose more fat and tone up. I set a new goal of 140. It took me longer to reach that goal but once I did I said five mor pounds and that was it. I think because I met my two previous goals I wasn't in any big rush to hit 135. Well I started a Kinesiology college course that motivated me once again and today I weighed i... Fri, 20 Jun 2008 09:46:10 EST Dealing with ITBS http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=937029 I completed my 1st half marathon on August 10th, 2007. The day had such significance as my mother died on the same date but 5 yrs earlier. I started training for the half marathon in April '07. I finally worked up the determination to follow through on some promises made to my parents. I told my mom I would run a marathon one day and she reminded me of that promise every couple yrs. Well she's not here physically to remind me,but I feel her spirit with me and pushing me to complete my go... Fri, 18 Jan 2008 08:48:52 EST Losing Steam http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=627015 Ever since the challenge at the gym ended in May I have been on a roller coaster. I take 2 steps forward and one step back. Now that makes for progress but not the progress that I want. Everyone tells me how much easier it is for them to lose weight in the summer and I just cringe. I am happy for everyone else, but summer is the worst time of year for me. I love to eat, grill out, drink etc. I am not any more active int he summer compared to the winter because realistically I have staye... Wed, 27 Jun 2007 22:55:09 EST 149.5 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=619195 Today for the first timein a decade I saw less than 150 on the scale! In the AM I weighed 150.5 and after my workout this afternoon I hopped on the scale just to see if it was possible. I saw it and it was GREAT! I know that I changed my goal from 150 to 140 so that I strive to stay in that 10 pd safe zone. I think that will help me stick with my program.

I went back to my Dr about my knees and now I am scheduled for an MRI on Thursday. My Dr said the nicest thing to me...he s... Fri, 22 Jun 2007 20:06:39 EST Down in the Dumps! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=594126 Last week I hurt myself on Monday and was not able to work out the rest of the week. Then I had a graduation party, the 3rd one in 2 weeks, and despite my best intentions I blew it! We were traveling and I snacked on chips and animal crackers. The worst part is I knew what I was doing to myself and I continued to do it. It is so easy to slip backwards.

I went into the gym on Monday and it still hurts to run but I lowered my intensity level. I woke up yesterday and walked for 5... Wed, 6 Jun 2007 15:44:43 EST Setback http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=581574 Yesterday while running all of a sudden I had pain running through my knee. At first I thought it was over the knee cap, but I stopped running, rubbed it and began to walk when I felt it getting even tighter. It was knotting up on the inside of my right knee. Today I went to the Dr and told him I understand it is no big thing probably tendonitis, however I am training to run a 5K in 2 weeks, a 10K in July and a half marathon in August and all I want to know is what I need to do so it can ... Tue, 29 May 2007 21:19:08 EST 12 Mile Run http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=570232 For the first time today I ran 12 miles and finished it in 1 hr 57 minutes with my last mile done at a pace of 8:45. It felt great and I am so excited to be focussed on the cancer run on June 9th and the half marathon on Aug 11th! Mon, 21 May 2007 22:11:22 EST Gorge Recovery http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=560031 Today I am recoverying from a weekend of gorging. I have been so good and I really worked hard during the fitness challenge so I figured I deserved a break. I know I shouldn't reward myself with food and this weekend wasn't about reward. It was about having what I wanted and not logging my calories. I will spend the next two weeks taking off the pounds I put on but to some extent that is what keeps me motivated. I ate so much I was uncomfortably full and by the time Sunday night rolled a... Mon, 14 May 2007 22:06:47 EST Winning the Battle http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=554110 Today I found out that I won part of the fitness challenge at my gym. There were a couple of ways to win..the most pounds, the most inches and then individually $5.00 to participants for every 3% lost. Well I lost 19 pounds since the challenge began in mid February and that is a great feeling! Today I saw a friend that I hadn't seen in 2 months and the first thing she said was where did Danielle go? It felt great. Now the hardest part for me is right around the corner. When the challeng... Thu, 10 May 2007 13:09:30 EST Rough Patch http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=540757 Things were going great, I was losing weight consistently and now I'm in a funk! I thought when I hit 160 I would probably give up and be happy with that. Now I'm at 158 and I feel like even when I hit 150 I won't be happy with my body. The other part is that I am so close that I want it to happen NOW! I'm trying to stick with the basics to get me through this. Log my food, keep exercising, and surround myself with positive support. It is still rough not to have a light at the end of th... Tue, 1 May 2007 22:19:47 EST Inspiration http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=525141 Today I saw my doctor's assistant at the gym and we struck up a conversation. I realized that going to the gym is kind of like watching Cheers! Everytime I go there I see someone I know and it is fun to catch up. It also makes the workout go a lot faster. At the end of our conversation Jen told me she is inspired by me and all the progress I have made. It was a shock to hear that because all along I have been motivated by others sometimes through conversation and other times through watc... Then I realized...new shoes are not a reward they are a necessaity for the amount of running that I am doing!

Todayo I stopped in at the gym for my weekly weigh in. The results were very motivating. Fri, 20 Apr 2007 13:51:21 EST Losing Weight to Get Healthy http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=510040 I first started this journey with the goal in mind of losing weight so that I looked better. About a month ago I realized this is helping me look better on the inside too. My body is reaping the benefits of exercise by getting healthy from the inside. Losing weight is now the added benefit. Wed, 11 Apr 2007 21:17:49 EST Exercise Frustrations and Traveling Accomplishments http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=499195 My frustrations and accomplishments go hand in hand. During the past two weeks I have been travelling. Most would see it as a fun opportunity and to some extent I did as well. Since joining SparkPeople I have been able to apply many of the suggestions and really stay motivated. This is one of the longest streaks I've had for sticking with workouts. As I have come to realize it is no longer only about losing weight, it is now about getting healthy!

Here is where the frustration... Wed, 4 Apr 2007 20:57:08 EST Size 12 Pants- Last Pair http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=467701 I have been gradually fitting back into my size 10 business suits but there was one last pair of size 12 pants that I still had difficulty with. They fit in the waist just fine, but it was my size 12+ butt and hips that were the bigger problem. A month ago I tried them on and the pleats in the front disappeared. I wanted to scream...Come back here! Today I tried on the pants and they came back!!!! The pleats were in the front and there was no muffin top. That was officially my last pair... Wed, 14 Mar 2007 17:44:25 EST Husband Support http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=466217 Today I received a call from my husband saying he left work early and if I wanted to work out longer at the gym to go ahead because he would be home when our daughter got off the bus. That was a huge step as in the past he would ask why I needed to spend so much time at the gym. That little expresssion of support is enough to keep me going! Tue, 13 Mar 2007 19:44:09 EST Mondays are Rough http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=464733 Today I jogged 5 miles and it felt great. I had a hard time getting myself to the gym, but I told myself I would skip my resistance work out since I was dreading it so much. I also told myself I would get in 60 minutes on the treadmill but I wasn't going to run the whole time. I started out jogging and after 30 mintues I was shocked how great I felt so I kept jogging. At the end of the workout I was tired, but I wasn't exhausted. Then I looked at the clock and realized I had enough time ... Mon, 12 Mar 2007 21:40:23 EST Biggest Challenges http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=461521 Today I made it to the gym and that was hard. I had already burned my 3000 Calories for the week so in my mind I was done. NOT SO! I have a goal to do 3 resistance sessions a week. I absolutely hate resistance traning but since I have picked it up again the weight seems to come off a little faster. Also I am seeing the results in my muscle definition so that has been inspiring.

Well I do my resistance training on MWF and I got to the gym late on Wed so I told myself I will do ... Sat, 10 Mar 2007 14:58:03 EST Below 170 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=457820 This morning I hopped on the scale and was elated to find out for the first time since my pregnancy it read below 170. Of course it was only 1/2 pd below 170 but to actually see the 169.5 on the scale was so exciting! Wed, 7 Mar 2007 21:17:50 EST 10K http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=454522 Today I ran a 10 K on the treadmill. Boy did it feel great. I don't think I have ran that far all at once since I was 12 yrs old and ran the Fiesta Bowl 10 K! I use to be a competitive runner and I am contemplating getting back into it. I don't know that I will be in it to compete, however I am considering training for a half marathon for summer of 2008 so it is more about endurance at this stage in my life! Mon, 5 Mar 2007 21:05:21 EST So excited! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=452454 Today I noticed that my jeans were loose so.....I tried on some jeans that I fit in before my pregnancy. They FIT!!! The most impressive thing is that after I had my 2nd daughter I couldn't even get them up past my thighs. I remember that day so well. I was so excited I had a new baby girl and so depressed that nothing was even remotely close to fitting. Then my life long best friend took me shopping and suggested I shop at Lane Bryant. Nothing against the store but I was mortified! I h... Sun, 4 Mar 2007 15:36:29 EST No Exercise Today http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=449069 Today we were hit with a blizzard. I drove 3 hrs one way to get to my work sight as travelling is part of my job. I should have stayed home but boy am I stubborn. As a result I was on the road by 5 am and in the ditch at 8am. I was only 10 minutes from where I was going. Needless to say I am grateful that I made it back home in one piece and am truly counting my blessings. I am a bit sore from the accident but there was no damage to the car and I didn't hit anyone. I spun around after ... Thu, 1 Mar 2007 21:54:15 EST Ups & Downs http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=445157 Today I am on an up swing. I tried on some shirts that I haven't dared to in the past 4 months because I hated the feeling I got when I put them on and they were tight all through my back and arms. Well............out of curiosity I put one on and it was loose, then I tried another on and it fit even a little loose too. I was so shocked that I checked the tag size. Of course I have clothing ranging from size 8 -14 in my closet so I must have grabbed some size 14 tops. NO WAY...to my supr... Tue, 27 Feb 2007 13:26:16 EST No Loss No Gain http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=439795 Today I weighed in at the gym and much to my surpise I didn't gain or lose any weight. I had a weekend of binge eating and drinking, but then returned to the gym with gusto! I also treated myself to a HRM since I have stuck with working out this long and boy what a shocker. The machines are so far off compared to the Calorie burn estimates of my HRM. I was even surpised to find out that my Polar HRM transmits to the Magnum treadmill, stairmaster, etc. That is just too cool. Little thing... Fri, 23 Feb 2007 15:00:19 EST Back on track http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=435530 OK so I had a weekend filled with drinking and eating.......too much of all of the above! It wouldn't surpise me if I took in triple my caloric intake each day starting Saturday and it continued through Monday. Today I was very good. I returned to my basics. Two snacks of fruit...each within 2 hours after eating my meal. Then I returned to the gym. Before we left for the weekend I went to the gym at 6 am and put in a 90 minute work out. I was feeling really good about my workout sessio... I also fit in 2 size 10 business suits this week and did not have a muffin top! So thrilling...At the gym we started the spring challenge and I am enaged in the miles race to Cocoa Beach. All cardio miles are tracked and right now I am in second place. Darn competitions...Iam SOOOO competitive! Tue, 13 Feb 2007 22:25:06 EST Stairmaster-Recumbent http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=417258 I have started using the recumbent stairmaster and I have returned to healthier nutritional choices. I even put in a resistance session today. This Friday starts the Spring Challenge at the gym and I will be joining up for that one too. The Holiday Challenge proved to be successful and I think this one will help me stay focused on my summer goals! Wed, 7 Feb 2007 21:25:04 EST Injury Set Back- Bad News/Good News http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=399458 Last Friday I woke up and thought I slept wrong on my pillow. WRONG:( I crashed my dirt bike in Sept when I hit sugar sand on a trail doing 25 MPH. I injured my neck again as I fell off my horse at a full run in July and hurt both my neck and back. Saw the Dr Monday and he said it is reoccuring from my previous injuries. Due to the pain I stayed away from the gym, as I didn't even feel like moving! I started PT on Thursday and he told me I could use the Elliptical or Treadmill as long as ... Sat, 27 Jan 2007 00:00:00 EST Tired Today http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=362551 I jumped on the ellitical today and decided to up things a little bit. I usually workout at level 12 and have worked up to 60 minutes. Today I increased the level to 13 and boy it was rough. About 10 minutes into it I was going to lower the level, but then I thought if I don't push through it... I won't get through it. Then I told myself it is not a race to the finish yet it is a journey with the goal of completion. I stuck with it and completed a 40 minute workout wiht a 5 minute cool d... I cheated on new Years Eve and New Years Day. Although I did try to make some healthier choices like chosing white wine instead liquor. May not be the biggest step but it is a step. Also I went to work out this week and found out I won a months free membership! That in itself was inspiring. I have started pushing myself harder and I worry about burning myself out. I have a long history of becoming addicted to doing more and... Wed, 3 Jan 2007 21:59:02 EST Christmas Past ----New Years Focus http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=348531 OK So I made it through Christmas and didn't stay away from the cookies completely. I knew I was going to eat a large meal on Sunday so I put in a 1012 calorie burn workout on the treadmill. Didn't know I could actually stay on it for 75 minutes! Then to find out I ran and walked over 7 miles was a huge boost:) Next day I jumped on the treadmill again but only put in a 600 calorie burn workout. Still better than nothing. Returned home and had by body composition done.....I lost 2 % fat ... Wed, 20 Dec 2006 22:37:25 EST Workout http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=341176 Wow what a workout. Jumped on the ellyptical and when my 40 minutes was up I tried to extend it...it wouldn't let me! I had to start my cool down:( Tonight if I am still motivated I am going to do Tae Bo for the first time in months. It felt great to get a work out in on the weekend. Although the result are minor I am starting to see them. I fit in a soze 12 pair of pants. They fit great in the waist but a little tight in the hips...UGH! Thats my downfall. Today I decided to go right away in the morning. I am happy I did because if I didn't I think I would have talked myself out of it. While at the gym I reached my goal on the elliptical and then did a round of weights. I hopped on the scale when I got home tonight and for the first time since July I hit 179. I broke the 180 threshold and it felt great. Of course that was my home scale. Weight in at th... According to my weigh in at the gym the week before I lost 1 pnd. According to my scale at home I gained a pound, but I weigh at home on a different day. I am going to stop weighing at home, weigh in only on challenge day, and keep up with the exercise. I can tell I'm reshaping just by how my clothes are fitting. Fri, 8 Dec 2006 12:10:34 EST Todays Workout http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=333705 I was running late, as usual and didn't have enought time for a 60 min workout. Then my friend invited me to dance class and said it is a great work out.
