I have to say, I did the Whole30 without any slips and with very little trouble. The biggest change I noticed is that my cravings both for sugar and just to overeat in general practically went away. I had only one small complication and that was constipation starting at the beginning of the 4th week. I have learned a lot and have really enjoyed making new recipes. I had to le... Today we are having a lovely December snowfall and DH wanted to take a picture.

Looking at it, I feel the season!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!

Thu, 1 Dec 2011 12:01:33 EST Status Quo...It's all good! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4454233 I have been staying between 176 and 180 for months now, no matter whether I am eating and exercising at peak or at minimum. I just keep rolling around those 4 pounds and I have finally come to the point where it is ok. This is for life, it is a journey and I appear to be at a resting point or even final destination. It's ok. I feel relaxed, comfortable, happy with my body and my fitness level. I have spurts where I say "I'm going to get down to that 170" and I go all out but I just keep ... Mon, 29 Aug 2011 10:03:07 EST Having fun Processing! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4396260 As I mentioned in my status today, I got a food processor to make my new hobby of healthy cooking more interesting. I am having a ball! So far I have made soup, cole slaw, banana nut muffins, bread and salsa. And I only received the processor yesterday.

This is the first loaf of bread I've ever made and I made the dough in the processor.

Then my DH said he'd like some salsa! I've never ... Sat, 30 Jul 2011 17:31:15 EST Monument Gulch Geocache/Hike (with pics) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4383459 We've been spending a lot of time hiking for geocaches this summer and I've been having a ball. We're new at this and have a lot to learn, but we're having a lot of fun.

This is me at the top of Monument Gulch trail this weekend.

DH giving Buck some of our picnic lunch at cache site.

Bucky taking a rest ... Sun, 24 Jul 2011 20:09:52 EST Maintenance Sucks http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4344219 My experiment with maintenance (just staying within 3 pounds of my current weight) is not working well. I have been eating at my upper level of calories (and over a couple of time) and I have really reduced my exercise. I guess in my mind when I am not trying to lose weight I can take it easy. Not true. In just a couple of weeks of this "easy" living, NOT binging, I have gained 4 pounds. Its just fascinating how quickly the weight can come back on..... I need to go back to watching my ... Wed, 6 Jul 2011 08:30:42 EST Surprise Gift (?) from my Doctor http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4312606 I went in for my annual checkup yesterday. It was so nice to not have any problems or complaints. We reviewed my progress and my stall in weight loss. I was discouraged...she was pleased that I had lost 6 pounds in the last 6 months since she had seen me. She said that I looked great! and that my current BMI of 28 (compared to the 43 I started with) was fantastic. She said that I had a very large frame and that my current weight was fine! What??? Yes, she said that I should stop worr... Tue, 21 Jun 2011 09:13:07 EST Getting Stronger Every Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4297567 I reset all my streaks for the summer. I made several MD appointments for June. I reviewed my favorite recipes. I increased the weights I lift by 10%. I made some summer fitness appointments with friends. I feel refreshed and renewed!

AND I put up a summer background for my page! Tue, 14 Jun 2011 08:56:13 EST Spark Streaks Helped Me http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4295057 I've always known that evening snacking has been a problem, but I didn't realize how big a problem. I thought that in the last 2 years I had really "managed" that part of my weight problem. However, I decided to make a Streak of "Don't snack mindlessly in the evening" and have been tracking it for a few weeks. Today I decided to look at the report of my streak.

Dang! Not once did I hit my goal for 7 days straight. The best I did was 2 weeks of 6 day streaks. It seems I snack ... Mon, 13 Jun 2011 08:15:21 EST Life is Good http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4289412 I just want to touch base and let you know that even though I am "struggling" and "tweaking" and making changes, I am doing great. I am healthy, happy and strong. I still have an obsession with food but am learning daily how to manage it. I am developing a healthful lifestyle and am extremely grateful to SparkPeople and all of you for the support, information , tools and encouragement I find here daily. I will maintain my weight loss, but I know it will always be hard mindful work. That... Fri, 10 Jun 2011 07:50:55 EST Overdoing it! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4287384 I am tending to be obsessive about my exercise and activity. I do too much for too long. It feels good when I am doing it, but after a week or so I get burned out. I do not take rest days. I am beginning to wonder if I need to change that strategy. I get worried about not burning enough calories and plan aerobic activity for every day of the week. I know intellectually that rest days are essential, but I don't take them. I plan a "light" activity for 1 or 2 days of the week, but usuall... Thu, 9 Jun 2011 09:46:09 EST
