But here goes --

I go back to the doctor Friday for a checkup on how the new blood pressure medicine is working. I had hoped to have lost 10 pounds by this point. As of last Friday I had lost .2 pounds. I didn’t even change my weight marker. But I know why I’ve only lost the .2 pounds – because I haven’t done *@!#.

I am vowing to change that. I walked this morning. I didn’t walk as long as I would like because I nee... Tue, 30 Aug 2011 13:38:41 EST Setting a Goal http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4445525 Since I last blogged 21 days ago I've not done too much toward my desire to loose 10 lbs. Yeah, I've tried to not eat too much, to not drink too much pop, etc., etc.

Well, I'm changing that today by setting a small goal for myself and will record my progress here. I know that I need to get active and so I will start with this goal.

Goal: To exercise for at least 10 minutes a day at least 3 days a week.

Wednesday, Aug 24 - 248 , I walked for 13 minut... Wed, 24 Aug 2011 09:39:24 EST Turning 40 & Starting Over http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4405798 The big 4-0 has made it's entrance much to my dislike. So I've decided to use this anger at turning 40 as motivation to get started on my journey again. I'm not quite sure why I've been MIA. I think maybe I got burned out on measuring, weighing, and checking SP. I think I need to try to take it slower this time. I tend to do this with everything I do. I get real absorbed in something and spend most of my free time absorbing this particular thing. Then there comes a point where I just don't wa... Wed, 3 Aug 2011 23:24:32 EST Week #5 – A little late http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4206835 Technically it’s just my blog that is late. I did weigh last Friday (the 29th) and was down another 1.4 lbs. But to tell you the truth the only reason I lost that is because I was so active in the previous weeks. I did NOTHING last week. I did not track my food. I did not eat healthy. I did not exercise. I did not drink my water.
Part of what set off the nose dive was the realization of how broke we were. Both my husband and I have full time jobs. However, we have extensive credit card d... Tue, 3 May 2011 09:33:45 EST Week #4 - Down 1 lb http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4185856 Ok, I only lost 1 lb this week.

Starting Weight - 218.6
Week #1 - 214.2
Week #2 - 214
Week #3 - 212.4
Week #4 - 211.4

I'm getting a lot of exercise. I need to log it here on SP though. I've been forgetting to do that. I think I did something physical every day of the week. I was going to go walk today, but it has been raining all day. I'm really tired of rain. I discovered that our puppy likes it though. I let him out while it was raining, went to ch... Sat, 23 Apr 2011 15:30:24 EST Family Healthy Eating http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4176393 I just read today's "10 Commandments of Healthy Eating for Parents" and several of the commandments spoke to me.

Thou shalt accept food "binges" as phases that will eventually pass. - I have had a few of these in the last couple of weeks. Not all out binges but cravings that seemed out of control. I accepted them and moved on. This seems to give me a little bit of validation that I did the right thing.

Thou shalt accept the fact that thy child is an individual and thus... Tue, 19 Apr 2011 10:04:17 EST What do you eat for breakfast? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4170908 Breakfast. I've found something low calorie that satisfies me and keeps me from getting hungry again too quickly in the mornings. I've been eating a 1/2 cup serving of low fat cottage cheese with a 1/2 cup of crushed pineapple and 1 Kellogg's Nutri-grain Blueberry waffle. This comes to about 220 calories. I don't get up early enough to eat breakfast at home. So it has to be something that I can take with me. I arrive at work early (1 hr early) and spend the hour eating, walking, and reading/s... Sat, 16 Apr 2011 23:38:00 EST Week #3 - Down 1.6 lbs http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4167262 Well, I just recently realized that my weight tracker rounds my weight. So from this point forward every Friday when I do my weekly weigh-in I will include my actual weight so that I have it recorded somewhere. Here's what I believe my weights have been in the past weeks.

Starting Weight - 218.6
Week #1 - 214.2
Week #2 - 214
Week #3 (today) - 212.4

So I am continuing to make progress. I'm still working on logging everything I eat. I'm going to continue to ... Fri, 15 Apr 2011 09:16:17 EST Trudging Along http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4163055 I want to use this blog to record what I am doing and feeling in my journey to get healthy so that others that are starting out can look at to help them in their journey. I find it useful as I go along to read other’s blogs and see what they are doing.

Here’s what I have done to this date. First I cut pop out of my diet. I was addicted to Dr. Pepper and Mtn. Dew. I could easily drink 3 cans in a day if I let myself. I’ve tried limiting myself in the past and it just never worked fo... Wed, 13 Apr 2011 12:29:58 EST Had a Good Monday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4160765 I was very pleased with my accomplishments yesterday. First of all let me just say that my weekend was a food fest. We had a cookout Saturday for my daughter's birthday that involved hamburgers, hot dogs, chips & dip, and cupcakes. Then Sunday I craved everything in sight. I didn't log anything this weekend or get any exercise besides cleaning the house Saturday morning.

Last night after work I went shopping and bought several veggies & fruit. When I got home I prepped all these t... Tue, 12 Apr 2011 13:21:16 EST Week #2 Progress http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4151449 Well, I only lost .2 lbs this week. I’m ok with that. I knew that all weeks wouldn’t be the -4 lbs of last week. Also, I didn’t do as good this week as I did last week. I started out strong and then fizzled out come Wednesday night. But I can put it all on one thing – not planning. I hope to be able to set some time aside this weekend to plan for the week. I think I’ll be able to get to it Sunday. Saturday we are having a cookout for my daughter’s 14h birthday which was last Sunday. So the ho... Fri, 8 Apr 2011 10:38:23 EST Good (& Bad) Weekend http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4142787 I had a good weekend as far as the activities I did. However, I did not log any food or exercise. I also ate out WAY TOO MUCH. It was my daughter's 14th birthday. She and I spent Saturday with my parents. We had a fun time. However, we came home late and ended up going out for dinner. We had already gone out to eat Friday because of my niece's birthday party. Although, Friday I did look up nutrition information for Taco Bell and tried to make wise descisions. Then Sunday we cleaned house in p... Mon, 4 Apr 2011 22:20:40 EST Week #1 Weigh-In – A Success Story http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4134476 I was down 4.4 lbs this morning! YEAH! 244
It was a good week. Here’s the things I’m proud of that I accomplished this week.
1. Tracked just about all of my food.
2. Walked 3 times this week even though the temps were pretty low.
3. Drank my 8 glasses of water each day and drank NO pop.
4. Weighed/measured most of my food.
5. Went to Wal Mart today to pick up last minute sides for my lunch and chose healthy options instead of junk
6. Joined a Wii... Fri, 1 Apr 2011 13:07:07 EST I Survived http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4128681 What did I survive you ask? I survived knowing that after dinner I had no more calories left in the day and thus could not snack for the last two nights. I’ll tell you the first night I was really worried about that. But I stuck to my guns and did not eat anything else. I woke up in the morning hungry but proud.

Then this morning I was HUNGRY. I’m wondering if I’m eating too few calories – my high range is 1550. I’m thinking that I need to try to figure out a way to rearrange my c... Wed, 30 Mar 2011 09:37:29 EST Day 1 of Starting Over http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4122592 I've started over again. I've cut pop out of my diet. It's like a drug. Once I start drinking it, I can't stop. I've also started logging what I eat. I'm over my calorie range, but logging it is my starting point.

I'm trying not to let myself get bogged down in the planning. I tend to worry too much about what I plan to eat and either don't buy enough to last the week or go completely overboard and buy way too much. I get caught up in the struggle of picking healthy foods, making ... Sun, 27 Mar 2011 22:17:24 EST Day 9 - Nine Days without Pop http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3684860 Day 9 and still no pop. Cravings have increased a little. Day 7 was really hard. I really wanted a Dr. Pepper or Mtn. Dew. I'm going to see how long I can go without pop. I really need to cut it out completely for a long time before I even consider allowing consumption of the occassional pop in my day.

I've got to think about the next small step to take. I'm still thinking about what I eat. But I haven't started logging or counting calories yet. So I could start there. But I also n... Fri, 1 Oct 2010 13:13:40 EST Day 6 - Going Strong http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3677018 Just a quick entry today. It's a busy week around my house. Last night my daugther played in a volleyball gam. She got to serve for the first time. She scored some points for the team and I think it built her confidence a little. I wish the coach had let her serve a lot earlier in the season. So we didn't get home until 8pm and then had to make dinner.

Tonight my son has a football game at 5:30. My daughter has marching band practice at 6pm - 8pm. So it will be Sonic or Subway for... Tue, 28 Sep 2010 13:22:09 EST Day 3 - Successful Grocery Shopping Trip http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3670105 244 I'm very pleased with myself. I spent several hours this afternoon preparing a shopping list, checking grocery ads and looking for coupons. I double checked my list before I left to make sure I didn't leave off anything we would need this week. I went shopping at Wal Mart and had my 8 yr old son with me. I warned him before we left that we weren't getting any thing that wasn't on my list. He did add a few things before we left. We shopped and only picked up 4 things that weren... Sat, 25 Sep 2010 18:54:44 EST Day 2 - Trying to Relax http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3667663 I figure if I use this blog to keep track of my pop consumption maybe it will help. So, I'm coming clean. I had a few swallows of Sprite last night. My daughter played in a Jr. High Volleyball game. When I got there after work, my husband was just coming from the concession stand with a bag of popcorn and the Sprite. I ate a few bites of popcorn and drank some of the Sprite without thinking about my "No Pop" goal. But then when I ended up staying later that I wanted and went to the concession... Fri, 24 Sep 2010 13:26:56 EST Day 1 Again http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3665207 Just a quick entry (lunch should be over now and I should be working). I read a blog today during my lunch break and her posts were labeled with the Day number. I like that idea and am going to borrow it.

I decided last week to try to get serious about my weight loss and goal to eat healthier. Number one on my list is to cut the pop out of my diet. I'm doing pretty good with this. I usually make it 3 or 4 days before I slip and have a pop. When I do slip I manage to limit myself to... Thu, 23 Sep 2010 13:32:01 EST Day Two - April Goals http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1962426 Here's how I did on my goals today.

April Goals
1. Drink 8 cups of water each day.
248

2. Plan all food for each day ahead of time.
I didn't plan my food out today. However, I did start working on planning my food for the rest of the week. I finished my plan for tomorrow. Today I did think about what I was going to eat ahead of time and how many calories the food would be. That is until dinner. I had planned to fix tilapia for dinner. But the... Fri, 10 Apr 2009 23:16:43 EST Setting My April Goals http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1959635 It’s better late than never. I have decided to set myself some monthly goals. Here is what I have decided on for April.

April Goals
1. Drink 8 cups of water each day.
2. Plan all food for each day ahead of time.
3. Stick to the menu.
4. Log on to SP daily. Read a team message board, a blog, article, or email for motivation.
5. Log all food eaten.

I am setting these goals for myself in my effort to get healthy and lose weight. I have had a pr... Thu, 9 Apr 2009 22:36:20 EST Spring Break http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1919561 Welcome to my first blog!

My husband and kids were on spring break this week. I, therefore, unintentionally took a spring break from eating healthy. We ate out way too many times both for our waistlines and pocket book. Then the meals we cooked at home weren't the healthiest.

My daughter plays in a basketball tournament tomorrow. So I don't know that I'll get back to the healthy eating tomorrow. But I figure while I'm waiting for her to play again I'll work on a meal pla... Fri, 27 Mar 2009 23:53:52 EST
