It’s the most I’ve run ever and it was hard. Not just a little hard but I can’t breathe, I really want to walk, no maybe I’ll just stop completely and take a bus home hard. For the first time since starting my training program I’m worried I won’t finish my half marathon. 6 miles isn’t even half of what I need to be able to run in 48 short days. I also feel like I’ve been running slower and slower as times goes on. Shouldn’t I be getting faster? Shouldn’t this b... Mon, 9 Jun 2014 19:57:53 EST My First Big Test. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5709797

This past weekend I went to visit some friends in Denver. I hadn’t seen them since graduating college and I told myself that it would be okay to go easy on myself. I knew I wasn’t going to be eating the most healthy foods and I didn’t think I would get that much exercise in. And I have to say I’m totally impressed with myself. While we did eat out, I did things I never would have done two years ago. When we... Tue, 3 Jun 2014 13:53:32 EST Getting Messy with My Sister http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5698649 This weekend I did a 5k race with my sister. I originally had 5 miles on my training schedule but decided to do the 5k with her and figured I could run again on Sunday to make up for it. There have been two different occasions where I was supposed to run races with my sister. One was my first 5K last April that she backed out on because she was pregnant and one in March because my niece was sick. I was a little reluctant to sign up for the race because I thought something might come up aga... Mon, 19 May 2014 18:30:35 EST Fair Weather Fan. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5688273 It’s raining, normally I love the rain. One of my favorite things to do is curl up with a good book and drink hot coco while listening to the rain. I love to fall asleep when it’s raining, I always seem to sleep better and feel more rested. I love the way it smells when it rains and I love the way you can feel it in the air right before the clouds open up. But today I needed to go out and run 3 miles, and the rain was making me really want to say inside. All I could think about was how I w... Mon, 5 May 2014 18:39:51 EST I am a real runner http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5678858 Last night while out for my run the wind was blowing crazy hard. It was so load that I couldn’t hear my music over it. Normally I’m a firm believer in music when I run. I think it helps me stay motivated and I hate listening to myself breathe heavily. But I figured since I couldn’t hear the music I might as well take off my headphones and I’m really glad I did. First, I leaned that I don’t run any slower without music. I thought that without the steady beat of music I would slow down, b... Wed, 23 Apr 2014 17:04:33 EST Eugene Half Marathon...Here I Come! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5674481 I’ve started training for my first half marathon and I figured this would be a great place to record my journey. I always figured I’d be much closer to my goal weight when I ran my first half. It’s the reason I didn’t do it last year like I wanted to. But I’m beginning to realize that I’m going to miss out on a lot of really great opportunities if I wait to be at my goal weight. I’m 3 years into my journey and I have lost 80lbs which is amazing and I need to remember how far I’ve come. I st... Thu, 17 Apr 2014 15:22:50 EST A well deserved complement http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5171293 Recently at my companies annual Christmas party one of my co-workers wife’s came up to me and asked if I had lost weight. I quickly replied yes and told her all about what I had been doing. I talked about how I get up at 4:30 every morning to get 1 to 1 ½ hours in at the gym before work and about how I am trying to eat healthier but still letting myself splurge (like at the Christmas party). As I was talking to her, I realized that everything I had been doing was totally worth it. She was... Wed, 19 Dec 2012 17:10:01 EST B2B Half Way Blog http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5114981 I first started this challenge because I wanted something to keep me accountable. I thought that if there was a team that I would be letting down then I’d be more dedicated to sticking to my plan. And I defiantly have been. I want to be able to help my team earn the most points and I want to make sure that I lose weight also. I have loved this challenge because of that. I like that someone else is telling me what I need to do everyday. I like that I have someone else I need to be accoun... Sat, 27 Oct 2012 19:58:33 EST My new best friend...the mirror! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4976631 Once again I found myself staring at my reflection in the mirror. I know I still have a long way to go but I can’t help but be amazed by the change. I always thought I looked better than I did. While most people look at themselves and think they look bigger than they really do, in my mind I always looked smaller. It wasn’t until I was looking at some pictures from my 21st birthday that I realized how bad it really was. I’m completely embarrassed and ashamed at what I looked like. It was... Wed, 18 Jul 2012 19:08:20 EST I hate to admit it... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4939182 Today much like every Saturday for the past 5 weeks I dragged my feet about running. I signed up for a Dirty Dash in my town so I figured I better start running, because at a whopping 4 miles the race can't be all fun obstacles. I downloaded the couch to 5K app, got myself some running shoes, and made a play list for my runs. That was by far the easiest part of it all.

The first workout only requires you to run for 60 seconds. I thought no big deal! The last time I tried runnin... Sat, 23 Jun 2012 16:40:00 EST
