I know what I should be doing, but can't seem to get it done. I exercise some, but not every day and still find myself making poor food choices. I know I'm not the only one in this boat, but it is frustrating. Mon, 22 Sep 2014 10:55:53 EST Trying to be consistent, not there yet I'm trying to get to the point where I am consistent about keeping up healthy eating and exercising habits. I want to be in shape, so I can have enough energy to keep up with the work I need to do here on the farm and to keep up with my kids activities. Last year, I lost 40 pounds, but have managed to gain them all back. I'm having a hard time keeping on track, but I'm not giving up. I appreciate all the support I receive on sp and everyone on here. I decided to start the fit food challenge. I have to make some modifications due to my food allergies, but it gives me some good ideas. So far so good. I have been doing the challenge for 2 days now. Hopefully this will become a good habit again of eating healthier foods. Now I need to get to exercising, too. Thu, 21 Aug 2014 18:48:56 EST Eating right I am really having trouble sticking with eating healthy foods. I start out well, but always seem to slip up before the day is over. My life has been crazy. On September 18, my family and I returned from a 3 week trip to Europe. We took all 4 of our children with us. It was fantastic! Sat, 28 Sep 2013 14:48:24 EST Doing better I think I've finally gotten back into the fitness habit. Yesterday at my son's track meet, I walked all around the perimeter of the field and parking lot several times. It ended up being at least 2 miles. I'm planning on doing something else today. I didn't want to just sit around while I was waiting for him to run in his first event. I figure if my kids are active enough to participate in track, I need to be doing something too! Tue, 9 Apr 2013 10:10:14 EST Back in Focus Finally got back in the daily exercise groove. I can tell how out of shape I am. Everything I do brings on sore muscles. I've been eating healthier foods and feel much better for it. I slipped up last night and this afternoon and binged on salty, buttery popcorn. That is my main vice. I have a hard time stopping and many times will eat the whole big bowl. I did better this time, but better stay away from it for a while. She felt like a part of our family. Last night, the organization that sent her, yanked her out of our house and we don't have any answers as to why this happened. Between my extended family and my husbands we often have multiple holiday meals. Yesterday was my first Thanksgiving meal and I feel I made some very good food choices. I didn't get any exercise in, but ate well all weekend. I feel happy about that. I have another Thanksgiving meal coming up on Thursday and will treat it just like I did the one yesterday. This time, I hope to at least go for a walk afterward. Mon, 19 Nov 2012 11:27:17 EST Seeing signs of improvement Even though I am not where I want to be yet, I am definitely seeing signs of improvement. I am wearing smaller clothes,it is easier going up and down stairs, and have been receiving compliments from people. I feel better about myself, too. I need to remember these things when I have bad days when I don't eat right or get enough exercise in. Just keep plugging away. We were catching, sorting and loading calves to go to the sale barn. More of the same tomorrow. I'm hoping my metabolism revs up again soon. My muscles are telling me I've done something. I survived running a 5k on Saturday-even improved my time by about 5 minutes from the last time. I don't have an air popper and end up making popcorn cooked in oil. I have a hard time stopping with just a little and find myself fixing it almost everyday. The past two days I have been getting food ready for wheat harvest, since I am the "chuck wagon." Today I made over 100 pizza pockets and yesterday, nearly 90 bierocks-with help. I had no problem getting my cardio done this week. I was either pulling rye in a wheat field or strawing my garden-usually at least an hour and a half every day. At the picnic today, I had chips/baked Lay's, ranch dip, oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, baked beans, KFC grilled chicken and grapes. Fri, 13 Apr 2012 21:11:03 EST It's Thursday Heading off to yet another track meet. It's the 2nd out of three this week. I managed to get all my exercise in. This morning I did my challenge video and other strength exercises. This afternoon, I did 2 videos from the 28 day boot camp dvd. Burned off over 500 calories. I've been doing well staying on track with nutrition so far this week. Tomorrow I need to do some more cooking. Think I'll do the baked chicken tenders from the sp cookbook. They are pretty good. Today was weigh in day. I couldn't believe my eyes when I read that I had lost 3.5 pounds since last week. Guess I must be doing something right. Fri, 30 Mar 2012 23:08:30 EST More garden planted Yesterday, I didn't have to worry about getting enough cardio. I got the rest of my potatoes planted-7 20+ foot long rows of potatoes. Digging the trenches and filling them in after the potatoes are planted is good exercise. I planted part of one row of sugar snap peas and most of 2 rows of onions too. I did have a little help, but still ended up doing plenty myself. Tomorrow I will be getting some broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage plants to put in the ground. That shouldn't be near as much ... Thu, 29 Mar 2012 22:04:40 EST At a standstill Not such a great weigh in today. Instead of losing pounds, I gained half a pound. I know that isn't horrible. At least I lost half an inch around my waist, so it's not all bad news. I think I need to be a little more honest with myself about what I'm eating. I know I use too much salt, which can add up to some water weight. I'm going to back off on the salt, try to stay away from processed foods, eat more fresh foods. There are two days-today included where I've eaten too much fat and not enough protein. I've been getting plenty of exercise-today I did an hour on the stair stepper, plus my strength workout. Our winter has been mild, so our wheat started growing early and is lacking moisture. This morning I did day 24 of the 28 day boot camp dvd. Total Body Challenge. Quite a workout! Then I had to clean off my grill well-scrub the outside, clean out the inside, so it's ready to go to grill lunch today. Thu, 15 Mar 2012 12:40:03 EST A Very WARM day It doesn't feel like March in Kansas. It feels more like summer-it's in the upper 80s. My husband is working outside and the sun is very strong. I decided to get my exercise inside, but still got pretty warm. I don't want to turn the air conditioner on in March, but it was tempting. I even hung some clothes out on the line. Wed, 14 Mar 2012 16:52:00 EST Time for garden work Today was the 22 day of the 28 day boot camp dvd. Short cardio sculpt and tone and burn. As if that weren't enough, I had to go out to one of my garden areas to remove layers of straw from last year, so my husband can chisel the ground up for this year. I worked for 45 minutes with a pitchfork. If that isn't exercise, I don't know what is! I think I've had my workout for the day. On Saturday morning I got up at 4am to travel with the middle school orchestra to contest an hour and a half away. We didn't get back until 5:30 that night.
