Sat, 21 Apr 2012 14:05:30 EST Update for spring http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4794177 It has been a while since I have felt like blogging. With my husband home all of the time it is hard to have a moment to think, but I am thankful to have him around. I continue with challenges and I am steadily losing weight. My husband has been training me boot camp style for the last month or so to ramp up my weight loss efforts. It gets so much harder to lose weight the more weight I lose, but I am stronger and I am up for the challenge. I am making a doctors appointment this week to get p... Sun, 18 Mar 2012 23:37:38 EST Love Letter http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4731119 Dear Jessica,

In the future I see a 150 lb chisled goddess. I will be wearing size 10 and I will wear clothing that shows off my new body instead of sweats and over-sized T shirts. I will continue to eat healthy and exercise the rest of my life and do it in a balanced way so I don't burn myself out and go back to the easy way. To continue my good habits I will greatly extend my lifespan and have a greatly improved quality of life. Thu, 9 Feb 2012 18:35:55 EST Remember where you came from http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4711130 I started Sparkpeople in July of 2011 with a starting weight of 205lbs. I have only been counting my weight loss from that time, but the journey started a lot further back
In 2004 I was a size 12 and 164lbs. I was very active chasing my kids, working and working out 3-4 times a week. I was injured on the job july 10, 2004 and my left knee was badly injured and my tibia broken and veins torn. I also fractured the Temporal Bone in the left ear. Needless to say it disabled me and I haven't... Sun, 29 Jan 2012 21:53:01 EST Distractions http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4682613 I need to stop eating while distracted. I don't have a dining room or a breakfast table so I eat in the livingroom with the tv or the computer on or my husbands never ending chatter. For snack time I will eat it in the kitchen and what I don't eat leave it there. For the other meals the electronics will be off and what I don't finish goes into the kitchen. Sun, 15 Jan 2012 18:03:02 EST Windy Walk http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4680901 I did a 2nd 5K today and I am tired and sore. The wind was blowing so hard at times that I was standing still. It is a very funny sight to see. I got snow last night a full day earlier than predicted, but it was gone by morning. It is supposed to snow all week and I am not sure if I am happy about it anymore. I am off to finish my video for the Jumpstart Challenge and then a bubble bath. Sun, 8 Jan 2012 19:41:20 EST 5k my way to skinny http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4661012 I finished my first 5K of the year today with a time of 57:10. It was actually 5.26 K, but it wasn't an official race and the extra mileage won't kill me. I have 4 more 5k's planned through January. I have decided that I won't do the half marathon in April due to the problems I am having with my knee. I am on day 16 of an exercise streak and I have a goal of 30 days for now. When I get there I will set my sights higher.

It is time to really focus on my nutriton. I haven't been tra... Fri, 6 Jan 2012 00:15:34 EST The Diet Trap http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4645003 When I am bored and broke I like to walk around the department stores in my town and browse. I find it amazing how quickly they change their holiday displays of candy, toys and electronics to celebrity diet pills, Atkins drinks, exercise equipment and every imaginable workout video ever made. I have been looking for a few new workout videos all year and I have only had a choice of about 7-10. I can't believe that Jane Fonda is still pushing videos and I finally found a copy of Sweating to the... Fri, 30 Dec 2011 13:47:18 EST Christmas Gratitude http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4636744 I finished my 10k walk with my son and dog in tow. My son didn't understand that it was a race and I was going to walk fast. If it wasn't my dog peeing every few steps it was my son wanting to know how close we were to a bathroom. I had a good time anyway catching up on my sons life.

My husband finished his seasonal job with the UPS today and is passed out across my lap and I am so grateful for his hard work. Sat, 24 Dec 2011 01:46:05 EST Highlights of the week http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4629555 This has been a very eventful week for me. I had an appointment on Thursday with a program that helps persons with disabilities to get jobs. I have been trying for over a year on my own with only 1 interview. I have a second appointment in January to determine my eligibility for this program.

My son came home and took my husband and I to dinner. I am usually the one to pay and it was uncomfortable letting him spend so much money. My husband said that Bryan had been saving for this... Sat, 17 Dec 2011 21:11:11 EST Spaghetti is good food http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4623324 I have made spaghetti sauce many times in my life, but I did it this time with all fresh vegetables. Wow it was the best, chunky and organic. I was feeling so good about getting the single story apartment in my complex. It will be vacant in September and I won't have to deal with the bone headed upstairs neighbors kids and their never ending stream of guests. I am singing o happy day. My landlord will also be dealing with the bone heads in the meantime, I am looking forward to a little pea... Mon, 12 Dec 2011 21:43:15 EST I am going to be naked http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4620681 I bought a few items of clothing in a size 16 when I started Sparkpeople and I fully expected that I would be okay for clothing until Spring. I have found that everything I own is too big for me and I have nothing to wear except for string drawn sweat pants. I have put all the holes in my belt that is possible. I am going to have to find a cheap thrift store so I don't get something to get me by until I can find a job. Fortunately there is a program in town that will help me get clothing for ... Sat, 10 Dec 2011 21:44:08 EST Progress through measurements http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4619706 Another weigh in tomorrow. I hope it is still the same as Wed or better. I have done really well with my fitness minutes and I missed my calorie range by a 100 calories or less. I am going to continue with week 1 LTGL. I need to take my measurements in the morning it has been a while. I am hoping for some progress. Fri, 9 Dec 2011 22:35:57 EST Exercice Goals Day 2 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4614095 I completed my three goals. Yeah. Stretching Mon, 5 Dec 2011 22:42:10 EST Exercise goals day 1 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4612508 It has been hard to make plans since my husband has been out of work. Every day has been job hunting or watching him sleep all day. He got a seasonal job, but it is on call and it is impossible to make a schedual around this. In January he goes back to school and we will be getting a stipend to help us pay our bills. So I need to set some daily preplanned exercise goals that I can post to keep me accountable. So for tomorrow it will be:
1.30 walk with or without my dog Mojo. Just depends... Sun, 4 Dec 2011 22:32:51 EST Change can be rewarding http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4609813 I feel like I am going through withdrawals from not going to the gym. I have gotten so used to my routine and my lack of weight loss is showing for it. I hate change, but I am usually happier for it after I am done kicking and screaming. I have to walk longer and climb more hills now, which means I have to devote more time to burn the same calories I did on the elliptical. I am shocked though at how 10 sparkpeople kickboxing routine kicks my butt. I do the video twice and I am working up to t... Fri, 2 Dec 2011 20:14:31 EST Survived the holiday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4599489 I went to a community Thanksgiving dinner with my husband and a friend. It was crazy busy and hectic, but it was so much fun. Every year I go I make it a point to sit with strangers and it is always good conversation. I asked for small portions and passed on the gravy and I had a slice of pecan pie. I made sure that I ate a healthy breakfast so I wouldn't pick at the cookies while I waited in line. This is the first time that I actually tracked my food for Thanksgiving and I only ate 2300 ca... Fri, 25 Nov 2011 23:34:25 EST 10K walk http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4591946 I did my 10K virtual walk today and it was amazing. The sun was shining with a chill in the air. I did it in 1:49:55. I finished the day with my husband and friends at a Gratitude Banquet. I chose my food wisely and I enjoyed every bite. I feel so truly blessed. Sun, 20 Nov 2011 00:37:19 EST The end of the 5% fall http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4587715 Just a couple more days until the final weigh in for this challenge. I think I did pretty well. I can't call it now, but I might only be a 1lb off of my goal by Saturday. I am going to keep myself busy for the next couple of weeks putting together new goals and keeping up with my exercise and food tracking. I won't have my gym to go to on December 1st and the weather is getting crazy, so I will use the sparkpeople exercise videos and walk as much as the weather permits.

My first... Wed, 16 Nov 2011 20:55:05 EST Training for the Half Marathon Walk in April http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4582380 I have been debating on whether or not to sign up for the Whidbey Island Marathon in April. I found out that there is a Half Marathon Walk available so I am going for it. So my training is starting this week with a 10k walk on Saturday. I figure that I will do a 10k every 2 weeks and build up to a full half marathon by April. I know I can do this and I have friends that are so jazzed with my enthusiasm for exercise that they are asking to join me. I wound up taking two walks yesterday bec... Sun, 13 Nov 2011 15:24:37 EST Tried to spread the Spark today http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4578445 I was in line at the store and ran into a lady that I had met a couple of times. She is away talking about how she hates being heavy and today I asked if she would like to check out Sparkpeople.com. Before I could tell her what the spark is about she went off on me. She said she didn't need and expensive and calorie deficient diet. Then she asked me how I have lost weight and I could only look at her with puzzlement. Oh well I tried.

I have not exercised much the last few days d... Thu, 10 Nov 2011 18:27:29 EST Better luck next weigh http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4569910 I am up 2 lbs this week and it sucks. I haven't been tracking my food very well and I am sure that didn't help. I didn't do the Holloween thing so that isn't the culprit. But I don't worry about the scale numbers too much because I am having great success with losing the inches. Another 4.5 inches gone. I have faithfully stuck to my exercise routine and I have felt good enough to add a little extra.

I have had a flareup of my IBS or whatever it is. for the last few weeks and I ... So on to day 15 and I am setting my next goal at 45 days.

I might have a job working in a Sushi bar in town. I have been looking for work for over a year now and was feeling pretty defeated. The gym that I go to has an employee that I have become friendly with and she had a booth at the job fair. Thu, 27 Oct 2011 03:02:14 EST The curios case of the missing inches http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4537616 I am in total shock. I just finished taking this months measurements and WOW!!! 14.25 inches have disparaged since I joined Sparkpeople on July 3, 2011. I am also down 17.2 lbs

I took a 50 min walk with my dog today and I took a route that was mostly uphill. Tue, 11 Oct 2011 01:26:23 EST The incredible shrinking ME http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4525016 I was packing for my weekend getaway and realized that I didn't have any formal wear that fits. So I get my husband to take me to the store to buy an outfit. I go to the racks and pick out sizes 18 and 16 because that is where I have been stuck between for the last couple of months. I ended up getting sizes 14 in women. I have rearranged my exercise and so far I haven't skipped a beat. I used to get dropped off at the gym and walk home, but now I walk to the gym and take the bus home. I just need to squeeze in my walk with my dog Mojo before bedtime. I am finding that I am not very hungry these days and I have to keep reminding myself to eat. Sun, 18 Sep 2011 23:46:23 EST Taking a day off http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4478173 I have been pushing my body pretty hard the last 2 weeks and I think it is time for a day of leisure. I still need to get 10 min of exercise to keep my streak up, but it isnt going to be strenuous. I am still tracking my food and sticking to my meal plan. I have been slowly incorporating more exercise and I am on a 30+ day exercise streak. writing down my food and exercises in the journal has become second nature now. I just need to make sure to not get complacent or I will surly go back to bad habits. I have had more energy than I have had in years. It is time again to wash and donate again and I am glad. I don't part with my clothing very easily because in the back of my mind I might need them again and clothing is expensive. Silly separation anxiety issues. I hope that the next person to wear them won't need them very long. Maybe some of this Spark People business will enchant those frocks.
9 Sun, 21 Aug 2011 05:58:21 EST Changing up my workout http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4422307 I primarily use the elliptical machine, but I am in a rut so I have been giving running and cycling a try. I am having trouble getting into the running and I think I might give it a rest until I lose some more weight. I have found that I like the stationary bike. Tomorrow I will give the rowing machine a try. Tonight I walked him until he passed out when he got home. Before he was lucky if I wanted to walk him at all. It was awesome to see my 50lb boy out of breath and panting. Tue, 2 Aug 2011 09:58:12 EST New scale http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4398890 I finally bought a digital scale. My old one just isn't as dependable as it used to be. I say goodbye to you old friend and enemy. Now I have to do the thing I don't want to do and start a new weight baseline which is pounds heavier now. I know that I have made progress and the scale wil not change that but to be honest with myself I have to grin and bear the new number I will battle with. So again I say goodby and its time to move on. Mon, 1 Aug 2011 05:13:49 EST 3 year AA birthday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4395288 I can't believe I haven't had a drink or wanted one in 3 years. It was hard to express how I made it this far in front of a group of people. I am still so painfully shy even now. Now I can focus on my food addiction which I am doing now. If I put all the engery I used to keep me drunk I will be healthy in no time. Now I better take my dog for a walk to celebrate. I am feeling really good today. Better than I have felt in weeks. I didn't sleep through the entire night. Something was itchy and I kept waking up to scratch. I will just take a nap later. I think I will take my dog on a longer walk tonight to celebrate. I am also back on track with my food. I met my calories yesterday. Fri, 29 Jul 2011 01:12:09 EST my 5k http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4390987 I completed my first 5k walking virtual race. I was going to cancel because I am sick and my asthma is flaring. The first mile I thought I was going to pass out or die, but it kept getting easier and my breathing was improving. I made it. My next race will be the 1 mile run. I will start training on Monday. I am enjoying getting out of my comfort zone because all my comfort zone does is keeps me fat and lazy. 279 Wed, 27 Jul 2011 23:34:27 EST
