They are the same size as others that I wear often, but I guess this brand runs smaller. I barely got them buttoned but they were not wearable, too tight in thighs, hips, and waist. I have been rather discouraged lately because I have plateaued and then gained a pound back that is not going away. Then yesterday I decided to check my measurements and to my sur... Fri, 18 Oct 2013 16:32:49 EST Goal #2 not finish kids' food for them http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5513235 My first goal was to not eat while cooking. I feel I am doing pretty well with that now. I do take a bite sometimes to make sure the seasoning is right, but that is all. I feel ready to add the next goal.
Goal #2 is to not finish my kids' food for them
I rarely, if ever, finished my kids' food when I was tracking calories because everything had to be measured. This is one way I can cut down on how much I eat. It is unnecessary. Some things I could just put in the fridge to eat as ... Mon, 14 Oct 2013 12:44:06 EST Country Swing Dancing http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5511528 When we go on a date my husband and I usually end up eating, watching a movie, or both. I was thinking that we need a hobby or something active to do together when we go out. A couple times during the summer we went for bike rides and that was fun but now the weather is getting cooler and it is dark before we can get out.
I have been praying for ideas and help to be more healthy and was reminded that there is a place in town that does country swing dancing. We hadn't done that befor... Sat, 12 Oct 2013 12:37:52 EST Lessons learned from setting one goal http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5508884 I did OK with my goal of not eating while cooking. Just thinking about that goal has made me see many other little changes I can make over the next few weeks. Sometimes I will do them now when I am not feeling stressed about all of it. We had burritos for lunch and I was thinking I really didn't need to have two. I make them from scratch so there is less calories and fat than in frozen burritos from the store but still I do not need two. I felt good about eating only one and was doing ok unti... Wed, 9 Oct 2013 11:21:57 EST One Step at a Time http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5507936 I make most of my food from scratch at home. I like to cook and it is usually a more healthy and less expensive option. The only problem has been that it has been very time consuming to try and track my foods. I rarely make things exactly the same each time because I use different things on hand or different veggies that are in season. The result, I stopped tracking my food. 39 I started exercising more and was still losing weight, but now have reached a plateau after only losing ... Tue, 8 Oct 2013 12:03:04 EST First 5k in Six Years http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5427290
I signed up for the Hyde Park City Fun Run a few days early to make sure I would go. I already had the shirt, it was a good running shirt this time and I couldn't wear it unless I actually did the race. I planned to walk most of it, my goal was to finish and finish I did. My husband did the 5k with me as well as my two little kids. We did bring the stroller for them though since they are used to doing only about half ... Sat, 20 Jul 2013 11:28:45 EST Mirror Image http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5422913 I was visiting my family and noticed that they had a new mirror at the end of a hallway, it actually belonged to my grandmother but is now my sister's. I always liked it at my grandmother's house but had never realized the magical power it posessed. The mirror is full length. I don't have a full length mirror so I am not used to seeing all of me like that. I was surprised that I looked leaner. I haven't lost enough weight or inches for that so as I got closer I realized there must be somethin... Tue, 16 Jul 2013 10:41:39 EST Personal Strengths http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5421840 I was talking to my mother the other day about how everyone has something they are good at. Six years ago when I had my freshman year of collage I realized that I was not as good at music as I had once thought. I had always felt that it came fairly easily to me because I enjoyed it so it was fun to practice and learn new instruments. Then I had to take real music classes and I was terrible at them. I studied constantly and actually felt proud of myself for getting a C, when I was used to A's,... Mon, 15 Jul 2013 12:46:35 EST New Scale http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5419199 My old scale is the regular dial kind, where it is hard to tell for sure exactly which tiny line it is pointing to. I saw a deal today on digital scales at B3 and even had a coupon so I decided it was time to move to a digital. I think it will be nice to know for sure what it says every time so I can track better. Also I am excited to have the decimal point option so that I know if I have lost something even if it is not a full pound. Fri, 12 Jul 2013 20:06:28 EST Better than last year http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5416544 Well, I'm back from our ten day camping trip. I did well with eating and exercise for the first half of the trip, slid a little at the end but all in all better than last year. Last year I gained 10lbs in two weeks on our summer vacation. I didn't really think about what I was eating as much and we had fast food a few times. This year I gained 4lbs and I consider that a success since it was 6lbs less. I am also a bit swollen, maybe from all the change in humidity and altitude, plus sleeping o... Wed, 10 Jul 2013 09:54:12 EST What do you do when other people are cooking too? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5401197 We are going on a week long camping trip with my in-laws. None of them like whole grains. I am one that only uses fresh ground, whole wheat flour in all my cooking. If I am buying something premade I always go for the whole grain variety. Also we will be having hot dogs a couple times. I recently switched to turkey hot dogs because they have half the calories and I am not a big fan of regular ones anyway. My kids however love hot dogs and surprisingly they prefer the turkey ones now too. Thou... Tue, 25 Jun 2013 10:17:55 EST 2 lbs lost is better than 0 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5398232 After a month of looking at that start page saying, "0 lbs lost (yet!)" it feels really good to have it say "2 lbs lost." I know 2 lbs isn't much and I could fluctuate it back tomorrow, but I am going to wait out that week to weigh again and even if it is only one more pound lost I will be proud of myself. Just seeing a streak of tracking for six days in a row makes me feel more confident. It feels good just to know that I am really trying again. For the past 9 months I have been trying to wa...
