CMCCLELLAN521's SparkPeople Blog CMCCLELLAN521's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Day 4 and counting It seems that blogging keeps me on track - so here I am.

This weekend was super busy - went to a car show with the hubs - clocked in an extra 2,500 steps because of it. Celebrated my sister's birthday with dinner - I tried a new dish with fewer calories than my usual and enjoyed it. Celebrated the upcoming wedding of my youngest with a bridal shower - I love the man she's about to marry. However, they will be moving 5 hours away (he's in the Navy) and they are still so young. I ... Mon, 8 May 2017 08:10:31 EST Reality Check My amazing daughter was pinned last night for her completion of the Radiology Program at her school. I am blown away that I gave birth to three amazing girls who have their acts together. However, seeing the pictures of me beside these amazing girls and all I could see was the weight I have put on...all I could see was that I had let myself down again by allowing stress and outside factors affect promises that I made to myself to not gain the weight back that I worked to lose over 18 months.... Fri, 5 May 2017 12:48:00 EST I am not fat... I've gained back most of the weight that I lost using a prescription weight loss aid. I kept it off without the prescription for about 18 months. Then, over the last 4 months, added about 30 pounds due to stress eating. But I'm not fat. I have fat and a lot of it...but that doesn't define who I am. I'm back on the wagon. I'm back to tracking and walking. I'm doing this without a prescription this time. I've been a sparker for years. I am so thankful for this site always being here. ... Sun, 5 Feb 2017 12:07:30 EST Every. Single. Day. Yes - it's been awhile - again.

We had some unexpected emergencies happen immediately after my last blog post and life has finally calmed back down and returned to our version of normal. The unexpected situation completely threw our family/home life into a tailspin. The craziness resulted in our driving 90 minutes round trip twice a day, five days a week. Time normally dedicated to exercise and work was interrupted for six weeks. Tension in our home was at an all time high and... Mon, 1 Aug 2016 10:59:59 EST Day 114 - Still Streaking I cannot believe that I have maintained a streak of logging into Sparkpeople for 114 days. On top of that, I have a 74 day streak of exceeding my step goal. The other day, I woke up at 545 am and started my morning routine. OH NO - my Fitbit was dead. I panicked. I pulled out my Sparkpeople tracker. It was dead too. I proceeded to tear up the kitchen looking for a battery. I found the battery, then realized I had updated to a new computer since I used the tracker last...still panicking... Fri, 11 Mar 2016 18:36:22 EST Active Minutes this week!
Maybe I should raise my goal. Sat, 16 Jan 2016 13:51:47 EST Been a while... I cannot believe it's been so long since I last blogged. I have lost 35 lbs. since the last blog. I have been walking regularly and fit bit challenges are a great motivator. I keep drinking my water and tracking my food. I am not obsessed with the scale any longer and the weight is coming off. Sure, it's taken about 7 months for that 35 lbs to come off but it took years to get to this point.

I just wanted to step in and say "HI" to everyone. Hope you've all been doing well to... Wed, 6 Jan 2016 20:55:05 EST Something to Remember...always Finish Every Day
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and absurdities
no doubt have crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.

Tomorrow is a new day;
begin it well and serenely
and with too high a spirit
to be cumbered with
your old nonsense.

This day is all that is
good and fair.
It is too dear,
with its hopes and invitations,
... Mon, 20 Apr 2015 21:54:46 EST Solitude The hubby and I got away for the weekend with my parents. We are in the 5th wheel, beside a beautiful lake, and while the parents are in town and the hubby (still lol), I get a moment of solitude. That doesn't happen often. Maybe I don't allow it because it makes me think and analyze so many things.

We spent the day at the air show yesterday. It was awesome. Now, I am a little sunburnt and my knees are killing me. I did walk almost 4 miles yesterday but I believe I wouldn't hurt ... Sun, 12 Apr 2015 09:45:57 EST Day 32 - My first visit with a nutritionist As part of my company's wellness plan, they pay for me to meet with a nutritionist monthly. I knew that they did a number of things, but I didn't know that this service was covered until last week. It was an AMAZING consultation. In just 30 minutes, she opened my eyes and also reinforced the information available on Sparkpeople. I even told her about the site and she was impressed with some of the things I have learned.

The biggest part of the meeting for me was that I am not dr... Mon, 30 Mar 2015 13:59:43 EST Day 14 - Keep on keeping on Blogging keeps me motivated - when I quit blogging, I lose motivation. I think it's because I am journaling (in a sense) and by sharing my random thoughts, it keeps me focused on the various reasons that I am making the choices that I make. So, I am adding a new "streak" to my list of things (in addition to my current drink all of my water and complete all of my step goals) that will include blogging.

I figure - if I keep adding the things that make me successful, and I keep do... Wed, 11 Mar 2015 11:05:13 EST Day 13 and still streaking Streaks play an important part to this program. I am not sure why I have over complicated the process before now. However, I am on day 13 of consistently meeting my water and step goals. Maybe it's the realization that I don't have to conquer the world all at once. Maybe it's the realization that every single positive change snowballs into a larger impact. Maybe I just finally clued in to the simplicity of Sparkpeople.

Whatever the reason, I feel a tremendous sense of accomplishme... Tue, 10 Mar 2015 14:43:37 EST Day 4 - for all of the positive people Wow - I have been a member here for over 3 years now. I have learned so much and have seen so many successes on the pages of this site. I have gotten to know others and have felt a positive energy that no other site seems to provide.

I just wanted to say that I appreciate those who are so supportive and encouraging on this site. You may not hear how much it means to others but it means the world to some of us. It means enough that we keep coming back - whenever we need a safe h... Sun, 1 Mar 2015 12:16:34 EST Day One I'm back. Again. And I know that I am not the only person here who has had multiple "day one" days. Technically, it's more like day 3 but, because it's my first day blogging, we make today Day One.

In the past, when I tried to lose weight or get fit or whatever, it was almost always with a do it all right now mentality. I knew that it took time but I would implement everything at once...30 minutes of exercising, count calories, drink water, eat 5 fruits and veggies, get 8 hou... Thu, 26 Feb 2015 13:49:18 EST Day 61 laser tag We went to a fun park for my hubby's birthday and I played laser tag. The place is two stories tall and involved a great deal of running and climbing. I would never have been able to do it without dying 2 months ago. I am far from being where I need to be but felt so much better than I have recently.

In addition, today is my "cheat day." I track everything like any other day but I have a bigger budget to use for food. However, I ate reasonably all day and only went over slightly.... Sat, 26 Jul 2014 19:31:48 EST Day 54 - Universal Fat Police I leave for Universal in January. My mantra whenever I want to go off plan is "Universal Fat Police". I have heard if you attempt to ride certain things at Universal and you look like someone who may not fit on their rides, they pull you aside to try out the test seats. I don't want to get pulled aside so I use that thought when I want to stray from my plan.

My family laughs about it because I'm very serious about it. But, that one statement has worked. I've also thought about the... Sun, 20 Jul 2014 19:33:43 EST 53 days If you read my previous blogs, you'll see that I haven't been on here in over a year. But, that's not entirely accurate. Yes, I strayed away from my path to a healthier me. However, I was still stopping by to check in periodically. I would exercise and then I wouldn't. I would eat right and then I wouldn't. I am sure that anyone reading this blog from this site completely understands. I have never met a single person who has attempted to lose weight or exercise more or just make healthi... Sat, 19 Jul 2014 14:42:25 EST My Reasons I know that I have listed various reasons in different blogs and on different places...I want to list as many as I can here. Most people think that if they lose the weight, they will have a perfect life. I know that isn't the case. In fact, I have an AWESOME life! I am very happily married to a supportive, wonderful, amazing man...I have beautiful daughters who make me proud every day...I have an amazing granddaughter who makes me laugh and feel loved (she's just too far away), I have a s... Tue, 2 Apr 2013 08:05:56 EST Why do I quit?

In September, I quit smoking. I have made it almost 7 months without a cigarette. I started walking in order to not gain weight after smoking. I am not a small girl and I didn't want to get any bigger. I signed up for a 5k to keep myself walking.

So - at the beginning of February, I walked my first 5K. I had to finish in an hour in order to get a medal. So, that was my goal. Well, that and to not... Sat, 30 Mar 2013 16:24:55 EST Updates - it's been 3 months! I cannot believe that I haven't updated my blogs - reading several others made me remember that putting these feelings/actions into words always motivated me to keep going!

On February 15th, I walked my first 5K. The goal was to finish in an hour and to not be dead last. I did finish in 57 minutes and there were 5 people behind me that actually finished. Several others did not finish. My sweet husband was with me the entire time (as a surprise to me) and motivated me to the fin... Tue, 26 Mar 2013 07:53:55 EST Made it through Well, I made it through the holidays and I am still here. It was actually much tougher than I thought it would be - but I stayed reasonable and still ate my holiday favorites (just in much smaller quantities). I have learned to be successful at keeping these positive changes, I cannot eliminate my favorite things - I just have to be reasonable :)

So - I am here - I gained about 4 pounds over the last month - but it's already coming back off. I'm so thankful to Sparkpeople for be... Sun, 30 Dec 2012 18:18:27 EST Step by step Well, I'm still here. In my past, I have always started out strong and then stopped by the end of 2 months. In the last 2 months, I have quit smoking, cut out caffeine, and stopped biting my nails. :) I have been waking up every morning and walking on the treadmill or completing some of the SP videos. Now, I have also added going to the gym to work arms & abs 3 times per week.

I didn't realize what a difference it made really until yesterday. I overslept (woke up at 6:40am). ... Tue, 20 Nov 2012 19:49:53 EST I did it! One of my goals (for years actually) has been to wake up early enough each morning to work out before going to the office. That way, when I get home, I am able to devote the evening to cooking dinner and spending time with my hubby (I am still a newlywed - 1 1/2 years married).

However, I am NOT a morning person. I prefer to stay up late and sleep in when possible. Therefore, it has not been unusual for me to wake up at 7:15 am and still get to the office by 8am. Since I quit s... Sat, 27 Oct 2012 12:02:44 EST Update It's been a crazy few weeks. I am still not smoking (day 47), still off of caffeine (day 33) and still tracking every bite. Had a bump in the road for exercise but am getting back on track there too. The awesome part is that a few months ago, a bump in the road (in this case it was a gastric ulcer) would have ended the entire process. This time, I made it through and never stopped tracking what I ate. I kept eating right and drinking water.

I'm excited that I am committed to my he... Mon, 22 Oct 2012 15:09:47 EST New Treadmill It's crazy to think that I am excited about a new treadmill. A few months ago - I would have grinned and said "give me shoes". Now, don't get me wrong - I still love new shoes. But, I have committed myself to walking a 5K in February. And, as I continue to focus on it, I have decided I want to run, not walk, the 5k.

My brother is very excited for me. He quit smoking, lost weight and began running marathons several years ago. He now trains for triathlons.

I don't ... Sun, 16 Sep 2012 11:19:43 EST The start I have been a member of Spark People for a little while - mostly observing and using the tools. Then, recently, I received blood work back that showed I am pre-diabetic and it was a wake up call. It's time to take this process seriously.

I've quit smoking - 4 days without a single smoke (it's been 6 days for my husband). So, I want to be sure that I don't have the "weight gain" associated with not smoking as well as lose the weight to help my blood sugar.

So - I have ... Sun, 9 Sep 2012 10:59:20 EST
