Lots of hours last week leading up to it. I FINALLY went to the doctor Friday to see if this cough was more than just a cough (after 12 days, I'd guessed as much!). I have bronchitis :( It's viral, so I just have to wait it out and treat the symptoms. I also have pleurisy (which I'd never heard of) where the lining of your chest wall and lungs becomes inflamed. The inflammation causes friction when they layers rub against each other, which hurt... Doing different workouts, doing yoga when I need to stretch out and rest from more intense workouts. I really need to step it up with my eating. A major theme during the month was my lack of exercise. The only reason I came closer to my 1,000 fitness minutes goal was because of our backpacking trip. I think I did 3 morning workout for the entire month… And maybe 3 HIIT workouts…

For September, I really want to have a workout schedule written down. Last night Jimi told me ... Fri, 30 Aug 2013 12:56:33 EST First Excursion on the AT (w/ pics) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5460851 Ok, well it did rain on our parade, but that didn't stop us from having a great time! Rain held off until about 10:30 pm Saturday night, which was great.

This was our first time hiking on the Appalachian Trail, started just outside the southern end of Shenandoah National Park. We hiked about 8.3 miles in about 4 hours, with a stop for a break/lunch around mile 5. We've pretty much mastered camping in the rain, but have yet to deal with rain while backpacking. I did a lot of research online on what gear we would need to at least be decently comfortable this weekend. Our plan is to buy pack covers, wear our moisture-wicking quick-dry pants and shirts that we already have... Fri, 16 Aug 2013 12:57:12 EST Sometimes, the Truth Hurts http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5455856 I am going to be blunt here.

I have been overeating (by a lot) and barely exercising. As in, counting my walk after lunch as my daily exercise and then coming home and eating pretty solidly from 4:30 until I go to bed. And stopping tracking once I get home. I'm not even exaggerating. I was at 116 at the end of the day yesterday! Yeah, a full 6 pounds higher than I was last week! What is going on here???

Yesterday was gorgeous outside, and yet, I packed my running cl... I haven't been putting forth major effort, so I can't really get mad when I don't reach all of my goals. More effort= more goals accomplished.

Things I did do:
I RAN! I actually ran 3 times. I've lost a lot of my endurance and was super embarrassed about it. It was Jimi, my little sister, her bf and me. It was nice to actually talk to my sister's bf, since we are a loud family and he is so quiet. He is very outdoorsy (hiking, camping, backpacking, mountain biking etc), so we got along great. J love anyone who can use a chainsaw and can split wood :)
I think the food highlight was a chicken and bean enchilada casserole we made in the dutch oven. Of course, we were so excited th... Wed, 26 Jun 2013 15:27:17 EST Too many carbs! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5393474 So I'd made a plan to follow my "detox" plan 2-3 days per week every week this month. I'm on day 2 of my third week today. And I am just now realizing/admitting that this plan has me eating considerably more carbs and way less protein than I am used to (See Monday and Tuesdays for the past 2 weeks in my tracker, and Monday and Tuesday for the last week of May). I've been at the top of my range or even a little over my range for carbs and barely meeting or just under my protein range. <BR... I may ban myself from popcorn and peanut butter until further notice.

Which gets me to the title of the blog- compulsive eating
I've been noticing that most of my eating would fall into this category. Thu, 13 Jun 2013 10:57:44 EST Detox Day 3 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5386229 Day 3 of the detox and I'm still going strong! 3 days of whole, unprocessed foods and over 15 cups of water each day. I haven't really seen Jimi this week due to his work schedule, so that usually makes it easier (watching someone else eat cheese is hard!). My goal for the month is to do 2-3 days per week of no processed foods/sugars and no dairy (and no alcohol or caffeine, but I don't generally have those during the week anyways). I'd like to keep going, but we're doing dinner at a frie... Experiencing our first tropical storm of the season. Jimi thinks we need to have an 'Andre' party (like a hurricane party, but with Andre since the TS is named Andrea...). Yeah, we're not 20 anymore, so I don't think we need to do that 33

Yesterday was a draw. I planned to have a smoothie when I got home from work and finished my workout, but ended up eating a little bit of everything and a lot of peanut butter immediately when I walk... Wed, 5 Jun 2013 12:02:20 EST Waaaaaaay Overdue http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5373012 I've seriously started a blog like 5 times and have yet to finish one or post anything in almost a month! I kept thinking I should wait until I have something to positive to post, which has finally happened.

I decided to do a detox this week (Tuesday-Thursday) to cut out the crap I've been eating lately (Jimi did it too!). We decided to cut out sugar, dairy, wheat, caffeine, alcohol and all processed foods. What did we eat? Tons of veggies, some chicken, beans, fruit and more ve... Thu, 30 May 2013 21:55:21 EST Meal Plan (aka procrastinating) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5346451 I have had the laziest weekend ever! I know we all need them every once in awhile, but geez. I feel like a bum (as I type this in my pjs...).

Ordinarily, I would start with a future meal, but last night's dinner was so good, I thought I'd post the link for the recipe.
Spicy Stuffed Spaghetti Squash

glipho.com/dichard/spicy-stuffed-spa
ghetti-squash

I went a little heavy on the cayenne, but man was this good. Sun, 5 May 2013 17:04:39 EST Exercise! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5344076 I decided to jump on the bandwagon and do the 30 day squat challenge. I've been working in more calisthenic exercises throughout the day and I figured this would be the perfect addition, especially with a beach trip coming up. I started yesterday on day 2 so that it would line up with the date.

I've also joined a group called Challenge Warriors on SP where I will be following an exercise schedule. ... I've been within my calorie range since last Sunday every day except Saturday. So 7/8 days so far. This is a drastic improvement over the past month or so.

On Saturday, I got up at 7, did a 15 minute workout and then got my stuff together to head to northern VA. We picked up a friend in Richmond then headed to my dad's house. We all went to the shooting range and had a blast. J and our friend made some drinks at my dad's house before the show. My da... Mon, 29 Apr 2013 10:16:46 EST Quit quitting already? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5333911 We went to dinner at a friend's house last night and I still managed to stay within my calorie range for the day! Win! Now that she's pregnant, she is really making sure to eat a lot of veggies, which is awesome. We do dinner at each other's houses almost weekly. (Yes, this is our 1 friend in the area [well, 2 but they're married, so it's like 1 friend unit] ). I don't usually drink on weekdays (even before the last blog), so dinner last night was fine with J and friend's husband drinking... Wed, 24 Apr 2013 09:35:54 EST Alcohol http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5331567 I have decided to stop drinking. I used to be able to drink with no problems. Now, it seems that I can have a drink or 2 (fine) or 10. There is no 3-9 for me anymore (not that 9 is a safe amount either). I didn't do anything stupid like drink and drive, but I keep waking up after these binges feeling like crap and feeling like an idiot because I don't have 100% of my memories from the night before. This doesn't happen weekly or even monthly, but I hate it. Well, maybe it is once a month... Mon, 22 Apr 2013 10:24:19 EST
