CLOEARIEL's SparkPeople Blog CLOEARIEL's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Back in Action Just got back from vacation this weekend.
Did I have a great time? Yes.
Did I workout? Yes (Ok, I hit the gym once, and did a lot of walking)
Did I eat my meal plan? No. But I did use what i learned and had a salad with both lunch and dinner every day, and only had dessert twice, neither time did I finish it. I made a point to drink lots of water, but also had a few adulty beverages each day....

So, I was... decent?

Back in the plan, having the meal p... Mon, 12 Dec 2016 14:29:37 EST Turkey day looms Ok, so we are arriving at the first of the many holiday feasts I'm sure we are all going to be tempted by between now and 2017.

I am going to try to take to heart, and remember come the day, to dominate my plate with veggies, and have small amounts of stuffing and potatoes. I will have to have turkey, but the Spark food has had me eating A LOT of turkey, so I'm sure that is not a... Tue, 22 Nov 2016 14:17:44 EST Tired The big push adrenaline has worn off.
I did the morning thing today, and am TIRED.
I am still trying to avoid caffeine in the afternoon, but I am lagging something horrible today.

Tonight I am supposed to meet a friend at a small holiday market, hosted by a sister Women's Club - it's a drive to get there and then I will not have eaten yet - so I am hoping something reasonable is available or I will be leaving early! I think I will have the extra coffee to keep myself goi... Tue, 15 Nov 2016 13:38:24 EST Conspiracy My coworkers are out to get me.

OK, not really.
One brought in a lovely selection of donuts. I have been wanting a donut.
About an hour later, another coworker brought in chips, salsa, fried chicken and cake. CAKE!

So far, so strong. But I'm hungry and my lunch hour still still an hour away.
I am on my third glass of water since the temptation really hit (I have been able to ignore it mostly, but I have some things to do that need to... Fri, 11 Nov 2016 12:21:08 EST Here I go again... So, in light of leftover Halloween candy and some junk food from this weekend - I am trying the Spark meal plan.

So far, its a little weird. I am endeavoring to try this for a full week - and see how I feel.

As of now, having a grapefruit, a toast with cream cheese and some tea. I'm hungry.
Lunch is not for three hours and 45 minutes. I hope water will hold me out - or I will be eating my lunch real soon.

Have you tried the populated meal plans? H... Mon, 7 Nov 2016 08:30:50 EST It's a New Day! I did it. I woke up about 40 minutes before my normal alarm time and worked out.
I did not hit the snooze button, I did not dawdle.
I set my workout clothes out the night before, next to the toothbrush. ;-)

I logged on to Fitness Blender while marching in place (to get these hips moving!)
Got a good warm up and some upper body strength. Now to get a little walking today.

Woo! Tomorrow, I'm going to try for earlier and maybe run outside! Tue, 25 Oct 2016 09:56:43 EST Here we go again So far, so good - this week I have gymed. I have eaten reasonably.
I have Doctor appts - for good or ill - and getting myself aligned to set the real long haul.

I broke the no caffeine past 10am yesterday - boo - but slept fine. Even woke up just before the alarm raring to go. Perhaps this should be a 90% thing....

Finding that I am really liking Fitness Blender. They have hard, kinda short, workouts - I am focusing on strength since I dislike strength training... Wed, 19 Oct 2016 10:21:27 EST Going strong? Hi all! Been focusing on eating well and getting some movement. This week has been not as good - with visiting my Mom In Law last weekend, I started off behind - house needing cleaned, laundry needing doing, and meetings most days!

I have gotten my break walks in - and attended a workshop at the local hospital - Managing your Weight with Food and Fitness!
It was nice, a bit of new information, a contact for a dietician - and some more concrete "do's".

The one thin... Thu, 13 Oct 2016 14:41:37 EST This time for real So i have been bad at logging in. I have been working out - now am more focusing on healthy food, in a way I can keep at. Lower carb, but not NO carb. (read: sandwiches are not the norm, nor is cereal or toast for breakfast - many dinners are veggie and meat, no other side and no bread).

I am going to try and keep in the habit of logging in and tracking, on this and my mandatory work account under Virgin Pulse.

here we go! Thu, 21 Jan 2016 11:05:05 EST Back to slow About a year and half (maybe more) I herniated a disc in my lower back. I recouped (after a LONG bed rest) and a bit of medicine, I was back to normal (plus some lbs).

I started back on my program, and slowly started working back toward my goal.

And then the back thing revisited.

I jumped back on the wagon - so to speak - and then I got sick. Several times. Pneumonia, then bronchitis, then a nasty cold plus laryngitis. Gross. I am still dealing with so... Mon, 12 Jan 2015 20:52:16 EST Run program - week 3 progress Well, I will hand this to Galloway - you have to pay attention!
I have gotten lost in the seconds breakdown a few times, either running or walking longer then prescribed.
All in all, it seems good - I upped my speed on the long hauls, but perhaps too much - my arches were killing me on last weeks long run - only 2 miles - I have done this without much trouble not too long ago - perhaps I was just out of sync that day - This week is proving hard - I have events almost every day this... Tue, 29 Jul 2014 13:18:06 EST New running program Just looked into Run Disney – and they Galloway method – which I am planning to start as a new 10K process. I am hoping this will be a good choice, since my new phone does not like the old app I was using.

Anyone tried this already?
What were your feelings?
Fri, 11 Jul 2014 16:38:57 EST Down and out Whew! Just getting back into it - after some tripping (and not getting to Spark) then my laptop died (still dead, using PC at work), then two and half weeks of pneumonia - I am back. I gained some pounds back (grr) and am hitting the gym again. Thank goodness my clothes still fit anyway.

I have even started working with a health coach (through work) and am keeping myself accountable.

Slow and steady, slow and steady..... Wed, 18 Jun 2014 14:01:51 EST Poll - of sorts I was at the gym last night - getting some weight training in - and was circling, and being circled, by a group - 4 men and a woman - who seemed to be helping/training each other on the machines near me.

Now, I ensure to clean my face and take off my makeup before I go to the gym. I am here to get something done, not to be cute (not that I can help it lol). I feel this is the best for my skin and will keep me from looking like something that was caught in the rain when I am done.... Tue, 26 Nov 2013 11:08:11 EST Back in the game I am back in it!

Last Tuesday I was able to mostly run the group run trail with my group at work - I did it twice - for about 4 miles. (Woo!)
Then Thursday I ran my training - on an incline program (that's new)
And this weekend Hubby and I biked to lunch - about 4.5 miles

Tonight I am planning to run with my office group - see what kind of movement I can get going. I am also planning for an early Thrusday run as we will be visiting my MIL and won't have acc... Tue, 26 Nov 2013 08:41:27 EST Healing cont.... So hip is not as bad now - a bit sore, more like a torn muscle I guess.
Ankle is better, perhaps a bit weak, but working without pain.

New pain - both upper thighs - front only - are sore and hurt to use. This is causing problems as I try to walk quickly or run - as my legs complain LOUDLY when I try. I have stretched and found that the most effective stretch is the runner lunge and pigeon pose - both are very challenging and seem to hit the exact spot. I will ease into the... Mon, 18 Nov 2013 09:05:00 EST healing I seem to have hurt myself.

Since Monday after the run, my ankle, which I turned during the run, and my opposite hip have been hurting. I have put a heating pad on the ankle, and it helps while its on, but is bad again once it's cooled off.
My hip - I'm not sure what to do here. Tylenol? I guess.....

I am still functioning, but have not run yet this week, trying not to over do it.

I really don't want a backslide at this point - I have been focused on ... Wed, 13 Nov 2013 09:03:42 EST Zombie Run
So I finished. I was a lot slower then I thought, but not the last of my wave.
There was also a lot more weaving and twisting then I thought, as I ran past the 'zombies' on my way through. Note to self - when someone chases you, you sprint. Work some sprints into training if you ever do this race again. Also note that you twist a lot, and ahave turned your ankle a number of times, so train on trails and some pa... Mon, 11 Nov 2013 10:57:03 EST Wacky Weekend So my hectic weekend started on Halloween - Got dressed (witch, for those wondering - stripey tights, black dress, wacky pointy hat) headed to work - was late- 4 accidents on the way - then got a call 40 minutes later - hubby had gotten in an accident. He sounded funny when he called so I hightailed it out and over to where he was waiting, with one of the other cars (three car bang-up) and the police officer. He had called the tow, the other person had called a tow and the officer was catch... Wed, 6 Nov 2013 09:21:02 EST next stage So I picked up my running - now I am training for a 10K - while getting ready to run a 5 K in 2 weeks.

Hubby and I headed to the gym got moving and I surprised myself. I saw the intervals and thought they'd be pretty doable - not picturing the small breaks and how they aren't really helping at repeat 3 and beyond.

Though I did run each and all of the intervals - 10 minutes at a stretch with 1 minute walk in between. That minute FLEW by! I will still trying to breathe... Tue, 29 Oct 2013 09:37:32 EST Still here.... So this week sees a 1/2 lb loss. 0.5, not an entire pound.

OK, it's still down, so that's good. I tried to be good, may have had a cocktail with a smidge of honey in it, but I did not think that would slow me down that much. I ran a lot last week too and eat well. Bother. I was hoping for just a bit more.

I suppose I will have to push harder. Hopefully it's warm-ish tonight - make me gym it and focus on my speed.
Mon, 28 Oct 2013 10:54:27 EST Taking it one day at a time. So last night, lovely weather again, I decided not to run. Something told me 3 days in a row might be too much.
I did go for a walk though- it was beautiful.

Now we come to today - I was tempted, and sucumbed, to a donut.
I am now trying to figure out how to arrange the rest of my day so as to not let that ruin my day.

It seems to be another lovely cool day, and so I amy run tonight - but what to have for dinner? I packed a lunch, and am at work, so am kind ... Fri, 25 Oct 2013 10:36:26 EST Becoming a runner Yesterday I planned to hit the gym and do some ab work after I got home from work. As I was walking to my car, I was happy that the air was cooler then usual. I tried to keep my vents and windows open, but was overpowered by exhaust fumes, so I had to close up.

I got home, and it was beautiful out! Sunny, a little breeze, cool (OK, cool for FL). I had a bout of inspiration. I wanted to run. Outside. I noticed that my neighbors where also out, walking, with strollers and dogs ... Thu, 24 Oct 2013 10:28:10 EST Anxious So, today is the day. I meet with the other walk/jog/run-ers this afternoon when I get off work to take a run with the Office run club.

I am excited to meet other people who want to get out there and get moving, and who I happen to work with, to maybe make some friends, to get a good jog in before heading home tonight.

I am also nervous - Will anyone else show up? Will I be the only one who is still struggling to run? Will I be slower then everyone else and be left be... Tue, 22 Oct 2013 09:45:26 EST Continuing the downward projection... Down 2 more pounds. Yay!
Ran another (almost) 5k yesterday - stopped a little early to get cleaned up and going, as we had a list of things to do that day.

Tomorrow is the inaugeral meeting of the run club at my ofice. I am happy and somewhat anxious as I don't run outside often. I feel I should start, as the races I want to do are all outside... So I need the practice.

In sad news, apparently the Color Run is not coming back to St Petersburg - the closest city... Mon, 21 Oct 2013 09:25:04 EST Feeling weird I am supposed to run today, but I have a meeting during the time I generally do - I guess I will be pushing it off until this weekend.

In the meantime I am FREEZING in my office - they must have put the AC on superdrive. I have noticed that I feel the cold more then I ever did in my memory (OK except that winter in PA when I took habit of sitting ON the vents....) Hubby belives this is due to the fat loss. I suppose he's right - this will be handy come next summer when it's eas... Fri, 18 Oct 2013 15:00:04 EST 7 years? Goodness.... I just realized I have been on Spark for 7 years!

I am glad I took that first step to get healthier and lose weight - thanks to my Spark Buddies who have helped me along and the Bloggers who I love to read and be inspired by.

304

I still have a ways to go, but could not have come this far without support! Thu, 17 Oct 2013 10:39:53 EST 5K.... So I did it.
My lungs bothered me the rest of the night, but I did it.
with only a 5 minute warm up walk and a 30 second breathing break, I ran a 5k at a 12 minute mile pace.

Whew!

Now I am on to increase the run a bit, to get better prepared for the Zombie Run on November 9. We had a team, but half of our team is leaving the country for a bit right around that time, and so will not be participating.... So hubby and I are going anyway! Should be something..... Thu, 17 Oct 2013 10:29:13 EST Running club? I got an invite a few days ago from a co-worker whom I had not yet met, offering to meet with some other co-workers due to a survey I filled out about a year ago.

Turns out he wants to start a walk/jog/run club on our office campus.

Huh!

He had two info sessions, there were about 10 in mine, to set up a weekly appointment to run/jog/walk together near our office.

So apparently I just joined a running club.

Never thought I would be doing... Wed, 16 Oct 2013 12:58:41 EST Still on Have had a slight back slide a few times with celebrations or downright starving! but am more or less on track.
This week is the first fruit since I started. I put some blueberries on my oatmeal. Mmmmmm....

Down a few more pounds, but starting to get frustrated at the foods I am able to eat. I want to cheat SO BAD! But am trying to hold on for a while longer.... Mon, 16 Sep 2013 09:20:10 EST Keep on going Here we are, nearly two weeks in, and the only thing I miss is skim milk and really coffee.
OK, and popcorn. I have moments of snack-longing.

Other then that, going pretty good. Thinking of transitioning this to a Palo thing for near life, need to look into that more to see what we might be working on, as this diet (Idiot Proof) is not something I want to be doing for life.

Have learned a lot about what has sugar in it (mayo?) and caffeine (mio?) so I can avoid it... Thu, 8 Aug 2013 10:52:56 EST Week one completed so got some new batteries last night, weighed this morning (though I was not as ready as if would like to be, enter gross bodily function here) and am down 5.5 pounds this week. Wow. I really hope this keeps up!
Then I will reach my goal faster and can generally add back in other foods and keep my portions down.

198 Tue, 6 Aug 2013 15:02:43 EST Week two OK, so here we are. I have made it through week one.
I tweaked the menu for this week to have less cooking. Last week felt like I spent ALL MY Time working or in the kitchen cooking.
I have left myself go a bit easier this week, added some cold cuts and smoothies.

If my dying scale is working, this week was REALLY good weight loss-wise though.
I need to get a new battery and try again tomorrow morning to verify. Mon, 5 Aug 2013 08:16:07 EST Idiot proof... So here we are, Day 5 of this thing. Have felt a bit cotton-headed every afternoon at about 2:30. Not sure if this is me getting used to the diet or girly nonsense that is also plaguing me.

Getting tired of cauliflower, which I never really liked any way, so next week will be different (and less cooking, I am SO sick of cooking for each meal) Fri, 2 Aug 2013 16:23:45 EST On a new track As of yesterday, hubby and I started a low carb diet (again for me). he wanted to try it, and I know it worked for me, I just did not follow off it very well.

Sunday, leading up to a week of low impact exercise, ran 4 miles with a friend of ours. My hips are still bothering me (partially girl problems, I am sure) but I did finish it! And jogged the last block too!

So I am having some difficulty finding the imgredients I am using. I have noticed lots of items on here ... Tue, 30 Jul 2013 09:43:22 EST Back to work! I managed to stay on track eating while I was recovering from surgery, but now I am cleared to go back to the gym!
I plan to hit tonight, get a little jogging and perhaps some weights, ease back into my program.

I hope there are no more medical set backs between now and the new year, at least! Mon, 10 Jun 2013 09:34:53 EST More Medical issues So on the MRI where my back issue was confirmed to be a herniated disc (and arthritis in both hips, surprise!), my doctor found a spot for which I was sent for 2 follow up ultrasounds, one internal, which then called for a referral to my OB-GYN.
This called for blood tests, more ultrasounds and a kind, but insistent call for surgery.

Turns out I had a cyst on my ovary, large enough, and caught suddenly enough, that my Dr insisted it be removed.

I have kept up on wo... Thu, 25 Apr 2013 14:32:31 EST set back So right in the middle of the holidays, I hurt myself.
Woke up one morning and could not stand up. I managed to, after a bit of a fight with myself, get to the bathroom and do the bathroom things... Hubby insisted I try to stand so he could help me get dressedsince I could not bend down either, and I almost passed out, cold sweats and vision going black and all. So he got me into acceptable cloths, gave me a face cloth to wipe off with (cold sweats) and we headed to the ER. The ER to... Wed, 16 Jan 2013 14:38:43 EST Set back times 2 Last week I felt a little weird, my ear itched and was a bit tender. I planned to have it checked out over the weekend, if I could get in to see my doctor.
Not so fast little one.
Thursday, while at work, my ear is throbbing and I feel kinda dizzy. By the time I get off work, I feel I NEED to find an Urgent Care to check this out.
As luck would have it, the Urgent Care walking distance from my house is a 10-10, and I get off work at 8, so I am golden. Go in, see the Doc, ge... Thu, 1 Nov 2012 15:05:01 EST Still yo-yoing I am still bouncing about, I am now cutting my calories a bit and planning to try to do two workouts a day. One big (like running, working up to 4+ miles at a stretch) and one smaller, maybe Body Rock tv or a TV show or movie challenge (check pinterest, there are a ton of ideas!)

Perhaps doing this, even for a little, will pop the plateau and help me move on down!

Happy October all! Mon, 1 Oct 2012 14:09:14 EST Weekends are killing me! I have been going up and down about 3 pounds for weeks.

The only thing I can think, is it must be the weekends, we catch up with our friends and family during this time, and though I endeavor to share or cut my meal in half, I must be overdoing it on things I can not truly calculate the calories.

I must try to stay home for a bit! Wed, 18 Jul 2012 14:17:43 EST Dressed to thrill This week I am working an eariler shift due to some testing that was supposed to occur. I REALLY like this schedule better, but have been denied it long term.
That said, I am getting up at my normal workout time to get showered and dressed for the drive.
I deceided after a week of jeans and sneaks workwear (I have a fairly relaxed office. ) that I wanted to be a bit more... together. I decided to pick out my outfit last night, thinking (correctly I must assure you) that this wou... Thu, 14 Jun 2012 16:20:25 EST I have ABS!!!! So doing random hygeine stuff recently before I got my shirt on and I noticed that I can see my abs. There is some definition under that flab. OMG!!!!!!

I was so amazed I called my hubby in to see. I guess all those crunches, reverse and normal, and captain chair stuff is really paying off!

9 Tue, 5 Jun 2012 17:41:14 EST Grrr... @%#@^%*&!!!

I had two days off from the gym, holiday weekend. I watched my food all weekend, just missed my workouts Monday and Tuesday.

Somehow, I gained weight!!!! ARRGHHH!

Hit the gym this morning, since I missed my monday weigh in, saw this. Ran like I was being chased then hopped on the Arc trainer to burn some calories!

I am so mad! I want to bounce back and not eat anything, but I feel that would be bad. Wed, 30 May 2012 16:48:30 EST Running I am stuck on my running program.
I am at jog 8 min, walk 5, jog 8.
OK, I huff and puff, but I get through it.

I tried to up my run distance. Yeah, not happening. I was huffing so bad I felt I could not catch my breath. So I changed to walking (my walk speed is not really slow) and resolved to stay where I am for now.

I was concerned when the third workout of that week was run 20 min.
So I am supposed to go from barely making it 8 min to 20 with nothing... Wed, 23 May 2012 18:41:10 EST Active Day (and night) Good morning!
I am offically down 21 lbs! Wooo! 236

I may have damaged that yesterday though. Lunch was free at work in an employee appreciation thing. I had a hamburger, salad with very little Italian dressing, some baked beans, a Turkey Sausage link, a small fruit cup and a slice of cake (it was chocolate...) and water to drink. What I was not expecting was the calorie bomb that was the sausage, Goodness! (Yes, the cake did not help, but I was weak and am m... Fri, 18 May 2012 11:44:29 EST Goal"met" I had given myself a goal. Once I was 20 pounds down I was going to fix the tires on my bike. It has been sitting in the garage since the move, and a bit before with all the packing and such.

Suprise! my honey got me new tires, got a bike (hand me down) for himself and new locks so we can tool around our neighborhood! He beat me to it (by 2 lbs...).
Perhaps this will be the push to lose that 2 pounds and more! Tue, 8 May 2012 14:25:32 EST And she's back! Back on track. Lost some more pounds while sick. Imagine that!

I have had to restart my couch to 5k, as I lost the paper with the one I was on, and now can not find it online. Darn!

So I decided this would be a good time to up my speed a bit.

So at a 12 minute mile jog and 17 minute mile walk, I am alternating 1 minute running and 90 seconds of walking. Today was day 2 of this venture. So far so good.
Next week we bump the run time a bit... stay tune... Wed, 4 Apr 2012 11:28:45 EST Down with the sickness I have been suffering through a nasty chest cold since Thursday.
I should have stayed home today, but I did not.

Nasty cough, chest pain, headache, sinus pressure, the whole shebang.

Which means no gym. :-(

And not really watching my food. Though I have not been really hungry. Tue, 27 Mar 2012 14:22:00 EST Day 3-4 This weekend was pretty good. Was volunteering at a local flea market for Relay for Life and was there longer then I planned. I ended up getting a muffin and a hot dog so I was not ravenous on the (very fast food laden) drive home.

Sunday was good, did some shopping, tried a few new recipes and ate some fruit for snacks. I did add a bit of sugar free whipped cream to some berries though... Mon, 12 Mar 2012 13:23:00 EST
