CLAUDEM1's SparkPeople Blog CLAUDEM1's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community I have a new goal! Hi everyone,

3 I was checking out Pixielicious's blog last night, and she inspired me. Her blog was about how much progress she could make if she gave it her all from now till New Year's day. So that got me thinking.... I can do this, too!

203 I decided to create a page, well... two pages, really. The first page is set up like a calendar with 70 cells. The first cell reads 70, the next 69, and so forth - counting down to day 1 - the last day. Each... Thu, 24 Oct 2013 12:57:08 EST Back to work Hi everyone,

150 Well I'm back to work after having the summer off. It was a busy summer, and I really didn't feel ready to go back, but alas.... I've been working for about 3 weeks now. Out of those three weeks, I have already taken 4 sick days. My energy and stamina need a boost.

433 If you recall, my mom bought me a car recently, and we hoped it would help to not have to waste so much time at work waiting for Rick to come pick me up. It's wond... Mon, 23 Sep 2013 20:52:49 EST I have wings! Hey Spark friends,

433 I have a new car! New to me, anyway.

My husband and I have been sharing a vehicle for the past 8 years or so, and we managed to do it, though it was very inconvenient. But this past year, I have found it really hard to do. We left the house at 6:30 AM each day, as he starts work at 7:00 AM. I, on the other hand, start work at 9:00 AM, so I was there over 2 hours ahead of time. My day ends at 3:00 PM, whereas, Rick's ends at 3:30 PM, an... Thu, 18 Jul 2013 05:41:57 EST Streaking Hello all,

359 I decided to try a different exercise that a spark friend mentioned; Turbo Chair Aerobics. It's a complete exercise routine while sitting down.

Day one: 30 minutes
Day two: 40 minutes
Day three: 40 minutes

198 I actually broke a sweat doing this form of exercise. He also adds some dance moves such as the salsa and mamba.

34 It's challenging, as the weight I carry in my stomach weighs my... Sun, 14 Jul 2013 17:09:53 EST There is More Happiness in Giving 19 It always warms my heart to see a thoughtful person.

Thoughtfulness is becoming rarer as this system wears on. How often I've seen and experienced a store door close in my face, because the person ahead of me did not take a few seconds to hold it open.

304 is said less often. It seems that so many have a sense of entitlement, therefore, see no need to say thanks. Others simply do not know any better, having been raised in a thankless... Wed, 26 Jun 2013 20:28:49 EST A daughter's love is a gift. 361 My daughter, Katelin, called to say that she and her hubby and boys would be coming for an overnight visit. She had called earlier in the day to see how I was, and I was having a hard day. The thing is I've been very sad and tired lately. I think it's primarily due to my job. I've been working for almost 19 years as a literacy instructor at an Adult Learning Centre. While it's been rewarding, it's become more demanding, thus more stressful, and I would love to retire. Unfortuna... Sat, 1 Jun 2013 18:58:50 EST I lost weight this week! 192 I started to get back on track a week ago today. So, this morning I weighed in 2.4 lbs. lost. Isn't that awesome!!

140 I made a vegetable soup and added chickpeas for protein, and I had that every day for lunch. I found it easier to stay on track, because I wasn't trying to come up with more interesting lunches. We had several days of fish, a couple days of chicken, an omelet for supper one night... And each dinner meal also had at least one vegetable an... Fri, 31 May 2013 10:41:18 EST An embarrassing tale I got on the scale this morning, and the evidence was there. I have gained 25 lbs since January. I know that if I ignore this, the scale will continue to climb. This didn't come out of the blue; obviously I am feeding my problem. But this kind of weight gain is crazy. My husband finds the result totally out of proportion to what I eat, but it is what it is.

Gone are the days when I could count on a fairly stable metabolism to keep me at a steady weight, provided I don't go overbo... Sun, 26 May 2013 16:38:12 EST Plateau's can be broken, right? Hi,

Last night, I tuned into SparkCoach before heading to bed. Becky, the nutritionist, was talking about breaking through a plateau. She talked about several aspects of health and weight loss,

192 Nutrition: Make sure you are taking in the correct amount of calories, especially if your weight has changed... so would the intake.

301 Food and Beverages: Weigh and measure rather than eyeballing it. It's too easy to underestimate what you... Wed, 28 Nov 2012 07:21:32 EST Please, help! Good morning spark friends,

I have had a pretty rough couple of weeks, and I am having a really hard time to get back where I need to be.

On the last day of October and first two days in November, I had to go out of town for training. Because I was staying in a motel room, and I do not have a laptop, I didn't track my eating or exercise. I actually did really well while I was gone. I put the TV on a music channel and did 15-20 minutes of exercise at the start of each day... Tue, 13 Nov 2012 08:50:32 EST YES! Good morning Spark friends,

I had a wonderful surprise this morning when I stepped on the scale. I lost 2.1 pounds! Isn't that awesome?

I have been sick lately, so my workouts haven't been daily... For the past few weeks, I have worked out 3-4 times a week, whereas I had been every day. I've just been so run down these days. It doesn't affect my appetite unfortunately.

My husband has lost 10 lbs. in the past month, but not me. He's working at a much more physi... Tue, 30 Oct 2012 07:09:29 EST Poor choices... What happened? Hey everyone,

My hubby started a new job this week. He starts at 7:00 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m.. That means that I get to my place of work at 6:40 every morning from now on. We plan to get a second vehicle as soon as we can afford to, but in the meantime... it's early mornings for me. My work day is from 9:00-3:00, Monday to Thursday.

I like to do my workout before leaving for work because I am really tired at the end of my workday. I'm sure as time goes on and my healt... Wed, 17 Oct 2012 07:53:51 EST Our Surprise, Surprise, Surprise, Surprise Weekend Rick and I just celebrated our 30th Wedding anniversary. On the weekend just before our anniversary, our daughter, Katelin, gave us an anniversary card. In it she wrote that 30 years is a milestone, and they wanted to treat us to a photo shoot with them, and said: "Pack an overnight bag."

We have 2 children... Katelin is in the Truth; Mike isn't, and he lives about 4.5 hours away. When I read the card, in my heart I wished he would be with us, but I didn't tell Kate, because it wa... Wed, 10 Oct 2012 13:00:46 EST My Weight Loss Collage is Complete

Two weeks ago, I gave my students an assignment. We had been talking about the importance of goal setting... that merely saying I want to graduate isn't enough. WHY do you want to graduate? WHAT will you do after you graduate? WHAT do you have to do in order to reach your goal?... and so forth.

Then I shared my goal; To work off all the weight I have accumulated and get healthy. I told them that there w... Mon, 8 Oct 2012 21:01:52 EST My Reasons to Succeed... Today I started Stage 3 - Healthy Diet Habits. Chris (Spark Guy) focused on a good question. He said we all want to lose weight. That's why we're here, right? But what is your BIGGER goal? To stick with it, it isn't just a matter of WANTING to lose weight; The real question is: WHY?

Here are a few reasons I want to lose weight... make that - why I WILL lose weight:

311 I want to be able to take a walk with my brother and sister (who walk an hour together ev... Sat, 6 Oct 2012 13:07:28 EST Pick Your Pain About a year ago, I purchased the "4 Fast Miles" dvd with Leslie Sansone. I was pleased that this was something I could do in my home with no one watching. To be honest, I started out pumped. I really wanted to do this, but... I didn't do it consistently, and when I did, I walked 1-2 miles and was pooched. Sound familiar? Before I knew it, my good intentions gathered dust, and once again I gave up. 39

One day recently I read someone's blog (I don't remember whose) that... Tue, 25 Sep 2012 19:10:21 EST I'm making changes for "GOOD"! Hello ladies,

I have been putting a lot of effort into getting healthy for the past month. I am eating nutritiously within the calorie range set by SP. So this is my third week of really working on fitness.

When reading motivating blogs, I stumbled upon someone who referred to Spark Coach. I tried it out for the free trial period, and I decided to subscribe. I feel it's worth the cost. Every day I log onto Spark Coach and complete the challenge.

The first p... Tue, 18 Sep 2012 13:04:41 EST Dear Friend... Dear friend,

You have been on my mind so much lately, and I think it's time I told you what I think of you.

When you look in the mirror, you see an overweight woman who looks lazy; I see a beautiful, giving person who has forgotten that it's important to take care of herself, too.

When you struggle with your assignments and feel disappointed in yourself, I see your struggle and it fuels me to work hard and not give up.

When you joined sparkpeople.c... Thu, 6 Sep 2012 15:50:50 EST Small loss... Big victory

I have been struggling with weight loss/weight gain for so long, a lifetime really. But not like this.

For the past year, my weight fluctuates constantly. I have even weighed as much as 10 lbs. more in one day. I know this isn't scientifically possible. (3500 calories=1 pound) Even though I know this must be fluid retention, it is extremely frustrating all the same.

So this morning when I ging... Sun, 27 Nov 2011 14:51:00 EST A daunting challenge

Well, I have bit the bullet, gone out on a limb, hung myself out to dry... I have decided to join the Lose 100 Pounds a Year challenge. I can't say I'm not a bit hesitant about it, but I am going to do my best.

You'd think that someone of my weight would lose easily, since I have so much excess weight, but not so I'm afraid. I know I will have to really work at it in order for the weight to come off. Bu... Tue, 15 Nov 2011 12:58:41 EST Little steps become milestones

Somehow as I get older I'm finding that I don't lose weight as quickly as I used to. Has anyone else experienced that? I am eating very sensibly... I'm not a 'junk food adict' so I didn't have to give up a whole lot of empty calories. We don't have alcohol on a regular basis, so that is not something I gave up either.

I think my biggest downfall was eating after supper. That no doubt contributed greatly ... Sat, 12 Nov 2011 07:49:56 EST
With so much trepidation
I am seeking out my curves,
Committed to work on my weight
And find my strength reserves.

Thank you Spark for helping
To meet others who like me,
Are trapped inside a fat suit
And are longing to be free.

Each and every one of us
Has issues to address,
Fibromyalgia, arthritis,
High cholesterol, CFS.

Diabetes and heart p... Tue, 8 Nov 2011 13:10:11 EST Small Victory

Friday is my day off, so this is the day I try to get things done. It's the day I give my stove a good cleaning, dust and vacuum, and wash floors. What usually happens though is that I get started and after 30-45 minutes I have to take a break.

So, let me tell you, this morning was BIG for me. I cleaned my stove and thought... I should clean the fridge. UGH! I pulled everything out of the fridge and star... Fri, 4 Nov 2011 13:57:16 EST I'm inspired You know, like most of you, I am not new to the "dieting" scene. But that isn't how I would qualify my lifestyle. Although I am morbidly obese, I have long made an effort to eat well. I strive to eat as much fiber as I can each day, love fruit and vegetables, and eat 3-4 oz. of very lean meat when I choose to have it. I always choose whole grain pasta and breads. I drink 8-14 glasses of water every day. I rarely drink soda (diet or otherwise) or alcohol. So where is my weight coming from? <BR... Wed, 2 Nov 2011 07:58:06 EST
