CHIBITROWA's SparkPeople Blog CHIBITROWA's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Catching up on the past few months... Ok, its been awhile since I posted. I'm not a very good blogger (even my personal blog site is lacking in content).

So my last blog was in June of 2013. A lot has happened, what can I say?

Last January, I started my doctorate (an Ed.D. program). I took one course in Spring 2013, two in Summer 2013 (which nearly killed me), and one in Fall 2013. I somehow managed to receive in all 4 classes. Currently I'm taking two courses, one that I selected is to get me into the mind... Fri, 14 Feb 2014 10:27:49 EST Spun around, which way was I going now? Ok, long time since a blog, so its definitely overdue.

Summer semester, 2013 ... I'm into my second semester of my doctorate and I'm stupidly taking TWO classes.

As of May, I'd lost 13 pounds this year. Pretty good towards my 2 lbs/month goal for the year. But doctorate classes started at the beginning of this month and I'm back up around 4 lbs, pushing 200 once again.

This particular weekend has been bad. I've spent almost the whole weekend sitting spread out... Sun, 23 Jun 2013 21:16:58 EST Thanksgiving The holiday season is always hard for most of us trying to loose weight. I had plans to be ever so good during the Thanksgiving Break.

But the best laid plans ...

Wednesday before Thanksgiving I was out with my family. I'd already put in my run for the day, I was doing good. We went to Moe's for lunch, I was starving from the run, but I didn't do too bad with my meal.

But after lunch was when everything hit the skids.

We were outside Office Depot an... Tue, 27 Nov 2012 15:52:39 EST What just happened? I did manage to complete the Couch to 5K program. That's a huge accomplishment for me. But since I completed it, I think I have had 3 chances to continue to run since. I have another 5k I plan on doing on Dec 1 but I think my finish time is going to go down just because I don't have time to train anymore.

I'd like to blame the time change on this lack of time (I notice a theme of "time" here). Because it all seems to have gone down hill since the time changed. No day light! (It als... Wed, 14 Nov 2012 11:34:16 EST Couch-2-5K Friday I started a couch to 5k program.
Saturday I did 20 minutes on the elliptical.
Sunday I did good to make 4 laps around my subdivision to get an extra mile in.
Today I walked to work, about a half mile distance, with a rather heavy backpack on.

Now my knees are throbbing, the back of my left thigh hurts like it was hit with something. This morning I woke up with stomach cramps just around the diaphragm area. And of course my back is aching from carrying the pac... Mon, 27 Aug 2012 08:56:40 EST OMG! I'm a whirlwind ...

The last month has been crazy busy.

We've renovated the kitchen, downstairs bathroom, as well as both bathrooms upstairs. Painted the master & closets, as well as the upstairs hall way.

I've bought furniture, moved furniture ... still have more to go.
I've got a brand new washer & dryer compliments of my parents.

Just smaller stuff left to move.

Hoping to get new pictures up soon!

Violin lessons are go... Tue, 19 Jun 2012 12:39:55 EST Stress Relief or Stress Inducer? Today I signed up to take a summer course.

What course? you might ask...

A music course, that's what!

But not any music.

My mother wanted me to sign up for voice lessons ... again.
Maybe in the fall.

I've taken piano for years and have a bad habit of not practicing enough ... then getting completely frustrated.

So this time it's something new ... the violin!

Granted, I don't own one .... I have to head to music... Mon, 14 May 2012 12:45:59 EST A week into being a home owner... Ok, so... the realators got someone out there to complete most of the repairs. The only repair that really didn't get done was the front door trim, but the HOA is going to fix that.

Still have to get in contact with the person in the HOA who handles repairs. I need the front door trim replaced, but I also need my gutters cleaned out.

My parents and grandmother have been there during the week while I was at work. Cleaning windows, carpets, various things like that. We got... Fri, 11 May 2012 23:36:16 EST Closing day... Ok, so today we closed on my house...well with effort.
9:15 am - walk-through scheduled
9:30 am - realtor gets there with key
9:45 am - realtor on the phone with listing agent ... because all the repairs that were supposed to be done...weren't!
10:00 am - scheduled time to be at the lawyer's office to close
10:30 am - finally arrive at the lawyer's

Finally closed at 11:30, then had to go get insurance lined up, and get the power turned on...

So n... Fri, 4 May 2012 23:46:18 EST A bit of clarification... My last post was rather vague considering the lack of history anywhere else on my blog to go with it...

(The reason being I didn't really want too many people knowing ... didn't want my job to find out yet since I'd hate for them to say "You can afford a don't need a raise" ... despite the fact I've worked hear nearly 11 years and all this time been living under my parents roof...while everyone else CAN apparently afford a house ... though owning horses has been much mo... Thu, 3 May 2012 08:26:16 EST Nerves... House walk-through is at 9:15 on Friday ... closing at 10 ... I'm so nervous! Wed, 2 May 2012 22:07:41 EST It's always something, right? Well, I knew my family history on my mom's side ... her father had diabetes, my uncle has it, my aunt has it and after several years of fighting it, my mom was finally diagnosed with having it (though she has a LOT better control of it than my aunt and uncle).

Found out today that my father's mother was diagnosed with pre-diabetes! So now I get it from both sides.

Guess it's really time to buckle down and get the weight off ... maybe I can dodge the bullet? Sun, 29 Apr 2012 21:48:21 EST Struggling ... I'm really struggling today ... up and down roller coaster of emotions ... weight has been a roller coaster ... but at least it hasn't gotten back above 195... course it hasn't dropped below 185 either ...

I feel stuck.

But it's not just the weight.
It's work ... so busy I don't have time to go out and enjoy my horse. I really want to go out and enjoy my horse... he's doing so good with his training.

But it's not just work either.

Its the fact ... Sat, 28 Apr 2012 21:28:25 EST Too bad I can't just sync with my WordPress blog... But since I can't ... and I'm lazy... I'll just C&P!

On 01/17/2012 12:58 pm

I’ve been reading a book on running for women. Today I started the beginner’s eight week plan. Today consisted of 10 minutes of power walking, 10 minutes of run (jog) for 1 minute, walk 1 minute, and then the last 10 minutes of walking. I managed to successfully complete it too! I think I might could have run for 1:15 or even 1:30, but I had my mom doing it with me and she can’t do more than 1 mi... Wed, 18 Jan 2012 21:33:17 EST Horse show Took this past week off to work with my horse who was with a trainer, out of town. We skipped Monday due to weather, rode Tuesday, got down there Wednesday and it was raining so worked in the barn.

Rode a good long time on Thursday and then Friday we bathed my horse and packed up for the show. We got to the show grounds around 3, got my horse settled, went to dinner. After dinner settled the trainer and I went back out and worked with my horse, I got to ride him some in the show ri... Thu, 3 Jun 2010 10:49:56 EST Falling behind.... On blogging that is! LOL
Least that is all... well, its not ... but I'm not falling behind on my exercise.

Monday I skipped class because of work (and my foot), but after work I went to the gym and got on an upright bike. I did 33 minutes in the 80's RPM and my HR stayed in the mid 80's. [level 2 intensity] went 7.82 miles.

Tuesday I was too stressed about work and had to work late so I didn't get anything that day.

Yesterday I went to class... but again,... Thu, 18 Feb 2010 09:15:11 EST Friday, February 12, 2010 Today was not such a good day.

But first, since I didn't post for Wednesday... a brief run down.
I went to the track early because I had a meeting. And I did try running, but my body just wouldn't allow it. I forced myself to powerwalk the 2 miles. I got it done in about 35 minute. Kept my HR in the upper 60's.

And I've paid for it since.
My left foot is swollen. The ankle and heel are hurting. My father's had to wrap it. I take 800 mg of Ibuprofen, and rub Wa... Fri, 12 Feb 2010 11:32:13 EST Monday, February 8, 2010 Ok, I didn't blog this, but on Saturday, my family and I went to the college and used the track. I did very good and I think it was because the track wasn't so crowded? I got 2 miles in 29 minutes 50 seconds.

Today wasn't so great, 2 miles in 33 minutes. Heart rate did the typical thing. Though I can start running again around 80% now instead of 75% which is good I guess?

Ankles are killing me. Dad got me some braces yesterday and I wore them today. Not sure if they help... Mon, 8 Feb 2010 12:14:49 EST The constant battle I'm so tired of encouraging others and helping others ... (in more than just health & fitness) when no one will encourage me back or help me when I need it!

I sent the USAF Fitness requirements to the Fitness Center director at the college. Basically all he said was that it was good and that I needed to set goals and mini-goals to work towards. What I WANTED from him was help devising a plan to REACH the goal ... which is the USAF fitness requirements!

I took the same in... Fri, 5 Feb 2010 13:11:25 EST Wednesday, Feb 3, 2010 I think I did better than Monday. I did walk some yesterday for about 20 minutes, but not fast pace cause of my ankle.

Today I went for 28.27 minutes. Had my ankle wrapped at the beginning but my leg/foot started to swell so I had to stop and take it off. I was able to go a bit further today, actually had to run a bit further to get my HR up into the 90%s

Not sure the distance I got, more than 1 mile, less than 2 I'm sure. But my HR would get up into the 90%s and I let i... Wed, 3 Feb 2010 12:21:30 EST Monday, February 1, 2010 Oh geeze... today was rough in class. I didn't get any exercise in this weekend and it showed. I couldn't do nearly what I had done on Friday.

I got in 31.5 minutes on the track and 487 calories. Wasn't able to run as much and I lost count of the laps so I'm not sure how far I went... more than a mile and probably less than 2 miles.

I did get my HR up to 95% during the runs, but it took me longer to recoup today, waiting for it to get back to 75%.

I can't let... Mon, 1 Feb 2010 12:40:48 EST Friday, January 29, 2010 Ok, today I did the 2 miles in about 32 minutes. Watch said 33 minutes but I paused 2 different times. Once to get water, second time to say something to the coach & get water.

Walked the first 2 laps (remember, track is 1/8th a mile). Then ran half a lap, walked half a lap for the next 6 laps. The last 8 laps were stretched a bit more than that. However, my recovery time between runs has gone from 1.5 laps to just .5 lap for most of it. That's a good sign!!!

Anyways... ... Fri, 29 Jan 2010 15:15:17 EST Wednesday, Jan 27, 2010 Today I did really well!

Total Time: 35 Minutes
HR: Got it up to 95% when running, let it drop to 75% at a walk, then repeated till class ended
Total Distance: 2 miles

Now if I can just remember to track my laps from now on! LOL Wed, 27 Jan 2010 15:56:53 EST Monday, January 25 Ok... Today's class was to do 2.5 min run and I think 5.5 walk. Well, I just know my body won't allow the 2.5 min run. Found out a way to deal with it that the Coach is ok with. I jog/run as much as I can, walk till my HR gets down again and then jog/run again. Don't even worry with the time and whistle blowing.

So I did about 32.5 mins today. Going between walking and jogging/running. I initially started with the jogging and found out quickly my hips would not cooperate. So as soo... Mon, 25 Jan 2010 12:08:53 EST lets add... To add to my frustration of yesterday.... I weighed today to find I gained 4 lbs! Sat, 23 Jan 2010 08:54:38 EST Friday, January 22, 2010 I walked yesterday with coworkers... got a mile and a half in about 30 minutes.

Today was class though. Didn't count laps ... just went.
Time: 35 minutes
HR: was in the upper 70%'s when I walked... when I attempted the jog it was in the 90%'s

But I could hardly jog. My body is refusing to do so. Hips start to hurt, knees... outside side of my calves... in fact today it was to the point of tears down my face and barely being able to breath.

I did less... Fri, 22 Jan 2010 13:17:33 EST Wednesday, Jan 20, 2010 Oh shoot me now!!!

Coach had us do 4 minutes walk/2 minutes jog. I thought "Sure, I can do this" ... boy was I wrong. My SI joints absolutely killed me. I couldn't keep track of laps at all. Coach thinks that its the way I'm swinging my legs. I guess that's part of it, I'm not sure if it's all of it.

In addition to the SI joints.. my left knee is hurting once again. Been awhile since it's bothered me. Also the outside of my legs/calf(s) hurt.

Anyways... worko... Wed, 20 Jan 2010 12:12:02 EST Tuesday, January 19, 2010 Didn't get to exercise during the long weekend and I'm not too happy about that. Cest La Vie.

Today I joined my mother & grandmother on the walking track.

Walked: 1.75 Miles
Time: 36 minutes
HR: 61% at the beginning, closer to 68% at the end.

Tomorrow is regular class day so it'll be more of a workout then. Tue, 19 Jan 2010 13:54:17 EST Friday update Ok, worked out on the track for 33 minutes.
Got in 14 laps on the track.
That's equal to 1.75 miles.

I did a nice steady pace of walk 2 laps, jog 1 lap. My jog is pretty slow... I use the jog pace that I do when I'm working with Eddie and having him trot beside me. Slow on purpose to keep him under control. I guess a slow jog is good, should build muscles?

When I was walking, my HR was in the upper 70% range.
Jogging would bring it up to the upper 80% to t... Fri, 15 Jan 2010 12:22:01 EST Journaling Taking a Walk, Jog & Run for Fitness class. Coach wants me to journal to keep track of my HR, etc. I guess SparkPeople got rid of the Journaling option, or I'm just blind... cause I can't find it.

Anyways... today's results:

25 Minutes Walking
Kept HR in the 70% range

Sadly I did not keep track of how many laps I did, so I don't know the mileage.
But for future reference... 1 lap = 1/8th a mile.

Guess I need to get a clicker to help me co... Wed, 13 Jan 2010 12:29:03 EST Back on the wagon? Well, I'm hoping to get back on the wagon soon. Doctor took my stitches out last Thursday. Of course when he put them in he said ...well, implied, that 2 weeks after they came out I could get back to working out... Thursday he told me a whole month! I don't know what I'm going to do.. I know I have been putting the weight back on. I think I'll have to find some upper body cardio to do I guess...

Went on a second date with the guy from the prior blog post. We went and saw the movie ... Tue, 6 Oct 2009 13:19:39 EST This past weekend... Ok first ... I had my leg surgery on Thursday. They removed a good sized lipoma that was resting on a vein... and of course being right there by the shin bone, means lots of nerves.

Anyways, Friday I attempted work and nearly passed out. So I went home and spent most of the day on the couch with my leg up. Saturday was ok for the most part, though I did get a bit woozy while trying to clean the apartment.

I had a date Saturday evening. The guy drove up from FL to meet, w... Mon, 21 Sep 2009 10:21:55 EST Leg update Went to the Dermatology clinic today ... they cut on my leg and removed the lipoma ... it apparently was against a vein. I go back Oct 1st for them to take out the (6) stitches and to find out what the results were on the test on what they removed.

The PA working on me said to be very careful because where it was... is a hard area to heal. He told me to baby it both now and after the stitches come out. I'm hoping by mid-October I can start exercising again. Thu, 17 Sep 2009 16:38:39 EST Time for an update At the end of the summer semester I was doing great. Then the semester break came. I started exercising with my mom and Nana again. Mom and I decided to incorporate light jogging into our walking routine. We were both doing well (my mother was quite surprised at her own ability) ... then disaster struck. I could barely move my left leg, let along walk or jog.

I've had a lump in my lower left leg for years. It just to the outside of my shin bone, about mid-way down. The lump had ne... Tue, 8 Sep 2009 13:22:11 EST Web stuff Finally got some motivation do to an update to my personal website:
. All I did was change the layout and add the ToDo lists... but I'm hoping I can keep adding to it. I have older websites that I want to pull down, so in order to do that, I need to get the content [that I want to keep] pulled over to the new site.

A little snip ... a little tuck... new website! lol

Now... off to the doctor for the 3rd time to see about my leg... Fri, 28 Aug 2009 14:30:48 EST Feeling like a yo-yo Technically speaking, the fact I've lost a solid 12 lbs since the end of January (when I joined) ... and its only July ... I'm doing really well. They say you should work to loose slowly and maintain that loss... its healthier in the long run after all.

However, since the end of June I've been very plateaued ... tiny weight changes in both directions, but basically plateaued. Of course this hasn't been the smoothest of summers either. Vacation was thrown a kink when my cousin came ... Mon, 20 Jul 2009 13:22:17 EST Time for a ramble... Ok, let me see...

Last Friday (July 3rd), we went to get Eddie back. We took Boo (my mare) with us. The trainer rode Boo and really liked her, asked to keep her a week to try her out. I said ok. Then he got to working with Eddie. After lunging without a saddle... then some lunging with the saddle ... he got on Eddie and road him a bit. Then I got to ride him a bit.... Eddie is only Green broke... but he didn't buck. I can mount from either side. He's a bit hard to get started, kind... Thu, 9 Jul 2009 14:35:59 EST Update... Tue, 7 Jul 2009 22:09:12 EST coming soon Heading home at the moment ... but later today I'll be posting another blog (hopefully) ... as well as some updated photos of Eddie! He came home this past weekend!!! Tue, 7 Jul 2009 17:39:20 EST Vacation... NOT OK, I had a really REALLY rotten vacation. And I already had someone to tell me to get over it and be more optimistic ... and it made me angry when he did it. So please ... no comments like that... I'm upset enough as it is.

Starts off last Wednesday with dad backing out of going on the trip with us ... leaving my mother and I to do all the driving and my grandmother and cousin in the back seats.

Day 1 - Most of the first day went fairly well ... till we got to Beaumont... It's really weird since that was over 10 years ago. I don't understand them in the least... Wed, 17 Jun 2009 09:04:19 EST So much for blogging daily ... lol So I fell a bit short on blogging daily. Friday I went home (summer hours = half day on Friday) to find out our DSL modem was dead. This meant no Internet all weekend. Well, the new modem didn't arrive yesterday either. Hopefully it will be there when I get home today.

However... the positive side to no DSL/internet at home ... I've gone to bed EARLIER! I think I've gotten 9 hours of sleep every night and I feel GREAT! So I guess this is a lesson to me...go to bed EARLY.

... Tue, 16 Jun 2009 16:28:11 EST Motivation So ... I was talking to one of my coworkers today. She and I were discussing how some of our other coworkers can be negative and pull us down. Both she and I admit we have to fight to not be negative ourselves. After all, negativity breeds negativity. Its a vicious cycle.

So after a bit of discussing, I said that it would be really neat if we could host a session at the College's Development Days on motivation/self esteem/etc. She was a bit wary about it, but said she would help me... Thu, 4 Jun 2009 12:43:56 EST The goal equals... Ok, so I dug around today and found the Physical Fitness Program for the Basic Officer Training School of the Air Force:

BOTPCprogram.asp

Granted, you have to be able to reach a score of 75 in order to PASS ... and graduate, but like they recommend, I'd like to be there before hand (whether or not I join is still up in the air... depends on how my life is going in 2 years from now).

The fitness chart is (currently... Wed, 3 Jun 2009 12:30:10 EST Trouble Goal I think this is a hard one for me to think about. I guess I haven't had goals in so long, that it's hard for me to THINK of a goal that I might be having trouble with.

The only weight related goal for me ... is to meet or surpass the Air Force fitness requirements by August 2010. I'm plateaued a bit at the moment, but I've started strength training class which I know means building muscle mass and stamina and such. And after that class is over, I have 6 one hour sessions of person... Tue, 2 Jun 2009 15:29:26 EST Today's challenge Today's optional challenge for the bootcamp is to write a new blog entry.

I have to say... last week threw me off greatly. All I was able to do last week were the Bootcamp videos... no time for cardio. My Monday, Wednesday and Friday normal times for Cardio were ...well... replaced by PHP training classes, and that was important to me. Tuesday my mom picked me up to go to the bank and get a check cut for my dental work ... and Thursday's time was spent at the orthodontist getting m... Wed, 20 May 2009 09:36:13 EST twittering...
