CHERRY666's SparkPeople Blog CHERRY666's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Goals and Rewards Sparker DarkOrange (Hi!) made a list of goal weights and rewards, and it's inspired me to do the same.

210/"Getting started" reward - Crocodylus fern! It's gorgeous and the leaves are so interesting. I decided since I've lost a few pounds and feel like I'm doing things to get back on track (including getting a new notebook so I can start writing down what I eat and starting to cook again), I deserve to treat myself a little. Plus, when I see it, I'll remember my promise to myself ... Tue, 9 Feb 2016 13:28:55 EST Time to Face the Music! It's been about two and a half months since I've exercised regularly and ate like I cared about health. I went back and double checked by running a report on my exercise minutes, and yep, they dropped off immediately after some bad news about my cat. I haven't taken very good care of myself since. He's my old man, who has been with me through the worst and best, and it's just hard. If I write any more about it right now, I'm going to start crying and I'd rather not. But, all that said, I n... Mon, 7 Oct 2013 11:08:08 EST Back With August Measurements I thought I was doing better lately, getting back on track for the most part with food and being better with exercising (not as good as I was or as I could be, but getting there), yet the scale keeps creeping up. Honestly, today getting on the scale and seeing that number was very upsetting. Maybe I'm overreacting or just having a bad day, but it's hard not to worry that you're going to gain everything back when you worked so hard to lose it.

Measurements:

Weight: 17... I've accepted that I'll never have that thigh gap due to how my femurs are set and how my body is muscled and how it holds onto fat (more pear than apple). It's not necessarily good or bad. It's just how my body is, and that's okay. It can't hurt to read something that makes you feel a little better ... Wed, 12 Jun 2013 12:22:20 EST Well! That was a surprise. . . Yesterday, I went to the doctor because I suspected I have a small hernia behind my navel. It turns out I was right about that, but luckily they think it's a bit of fat and NOT a bit of intestine that's pushed through. That was a relief. For now, I only need to keep an eye on it. It's tender and if I move the wrong way, it hurts, but otherwise isn't really a big deal. Phew! Obviously, if it gets much worse I'll need surgery, but hopefully that won't be an issue.

The surprise w... This week's Living the Good Life challenge for the Fall 5% Challenge is tracking your food and staying within your calorie range. Wed, 29 Aug 2012 09:30:47 EST Whoohoo! Plateau Over? It looks like the scale is finally moving in the right direction again! I'll have to cross my fingers that it stays in a downward trajectory. For the last month or so, it's been stuck. Despite all the exercise, it wouldn't budge. Not really. It's not like I actually gained anything which is a big positive in my book, but still. This morning the scale said lower than it has in a very long time, and yesterday morning was the same, so that's a good sign. I noticed the other day my collar bone... Thu, 23 Aug 2012 09:56:33 EST What to do. . . What to do. . . Monday, I ran 5 miles. It was okay. No problem there. Finished feeling like, "Whoa, I just ran five miles for the second time ever," but otherwise it was fine. Later that day, I did Day 1 of Week 1 of Ripped in 30, and mostly it was fine. In the last circuit, though, there were single leg hops, and I think I pulled my hamstring a little when doing them. Landed the wrong way and had sudden shooting pains, not fall on the floor sobbing but enough to scrunch up my face and find it unpleasan... You just run." -John Bingham Fri, 10 Aug 2012 23:48:00 EST Do You Like When People Comment On Your Weight Loss? I'm just curious. Do you like when people comment on your weight loss or would you rather they didn't? I thought about this yesterday when I was at a family gathering and my aunt commented on how I've lost weight in front of everyone else. What's up with that? You must be exercising to lose that weight. I just said I'd been walking and things like that and trying to eat a little better. I've lost a bit over thirty pounds, but not fast in any way. Less than a pound a week most weeks, I thi... Mon, 6 Aug 2012 11:25:03 EST 9:30 I've been curious about how fast I can run a mile without completely dying. Lately, my time has been going in the wrong direction and it's been discouraging. When you finish x distance and you're beet red and dripping sweat then check your time only to find out you were even SLOWER than before (and you're already slow by most standards), well, it can be hard to take. (I'm going to blame the heat we've had. At least partly.) I try not to think about that type of thing too much and just enj... I haven't been doing the Shred every day, but probably 5-6 days a week. (I'm in awe of anyone who can do this without missing a day. They deserve major kudos.) I think today is day 9 of level 2, then I have one more day of level 2 and 10 days of level 3. After that, it's off to Ripped in 30, where I'll get my butt kicked all over ag... Fri, 20 Jul 2012 09:35:37 EST Scale vs Scale How do you know what scale is most accurate? When I started making it a point to eat healthier and exercise, I didn't have a scale so I weighed myself at my parent's house periodically. Okay. A quality sports bra! Eh. . . TMI? So I bought my running shoes a few weeks ago, and they're awesome. I'm so happy I sprung for them and went to a real running store, despite my fear about not fitting in there and looking like a fraud. Ridiculous, I know, but I still felt that way going in. Fri, 4 May 2012 16:21:48 EST It's About Perspective Today I didn't want to do Day 2 of Week 3. It was drizzling and cold out, and I didn't want to go out in that. Of course, I reminded myself, "You can quit in five minute if you really want to," so I went out and (of course) didn't quit after five minutes. Tue, 18 May 2010 14:20:27 EST The Agoraphobic Runner, March Goal Results & April Goals I thought of that the other day--how I could call myself "The Agoraphobic Runner" (Or Agoraphobic Wannabe Runner to be more precise) and it struck me as appropriate and kind of funny (Maybe I have a slightly warped sense of humor).

My two main goals for March were to do 755 fitness minutes and to run a mile. As far as the first goal goes, I actually wound up doing a bit more than 755. As far as the second goal. . . Um. . . Yeah. That didn't go so well. I kept chickening out ... Mon, 8 Mar 2010 15:06:45 EST Walking/Running Log: Week 1, Day 1 (Repeat) Distance: 1.64 miles Time: 24 minutes

What I Did: Four repetitions of 4 minutes walking/1 minute running, plus a little extra walking

I almost thought I wouldn't do the last run/jog, but I caught my breath easier than I thought I would and did it! Yay. Since I know I went too fast last time, I tried to pace myself this time (Which was surprisingly hard). The extra walking at the end helped, and I made sure to stretch for a while afterwards, something I neglected to do ... I was red as a tomato, huffing and puffing and couldn't catch my breath. Coughed up a lung for an hour or two afterward. (Lovely, I know. I am getting over a cold, though.) The first two running intervals were difficult to recover from... Tue, 2 Mar 2010 16:35:27 EST Fitness Goal #2 For March Run a mile straight.

I even bought shoes for it the other week. This month, I want to follow the plan laid out here

_articles.asp?id=1004
and run that one mile. Honestly, I'm not so sure I could jog for even a minute without being totally winded, but the plan as a whole really looks promising.

Even when I was a kid, I was terrible at the mile run we had to do in gym class. Torture. Also, this is something I'v... Tue, 2 Mar 2010 00:42:25 EST Fitness Goal #1 For March In February, I did a total of 555 minutes of exercise. (In January, I did about the same amount.) This month, the goal is to up that by 200 minutes. Thu, 18 Feb 2010 21:23:15 EST The Horror!!! (RealAge) Oh my god. I took the "RealAge" test at, and my results are:

Calendar Age 23.4
Difference +4.9
RealAge 28.3

The horror! Jeez! I can't believe there's that much of a difference. This is kind of depressing. I've been doing better in the past month or two about getting my fruits and veggies, paying good attention to my body's signals and learning to recognize my needs, drinking my water, exercising more consistently than I have in the past, etc...
