I have been working on my fitness journey off and on for years and I feel like this invitation came at the right time. While I was working my way through free fitness via youtube- I liked the idea of doing a challenge. After some consulting and figuring out what would fit into my life- I decided to try the T25 Challenge.

Why I am Doing This

... Fri, 11 Apr 2014 05:38:36 EST April Exercise of the Month: Pilates This might seem like a bit out of order to go from yoga to barre to pilates- but I rather like the order of this so far. I feel that trying barre first has given me a bit of appreciation for how hard pilates can actually be. That and the fact that the first exercise thoroughly whipped my butt. Like last month- I am going to share my thoughts for each week and then at the end give me overall take of this kind of exercise. Without further ado- here are my thoughts.

Week1 Thoughts... Fri, 11 Apr 2014 05:31:32 EST March Exercise of the Month: Barre Barre? What is a Barre Workout? Well- as best as I can gather, it is a workout that is inspired by ballet- that also combines a bit of yoga and pilates into the mix. Sometimes the workouts require a bit of equipment (i.e.- a chair and weights) and at other times the workouts require nothing more than a bit of room. It is a toning/strengthening workout that is not your typical 'grab some weights and give me 20 repetitions' type of workout- which I happen to enjoy.

I chose this e... Sun, 30 Mar 2014 15:49:54 EST February Exercise of the Month: Yoga This past month I decided my new exercise of the month would be yoga. Like most people- I get bored with doing the same thing every day. I get tired of the monotony and wanted to try something else.
At the beginning of the month, I found myself pressing play for yoga and making snarky comments at the yoga instructors as they talked about ‘zen’ and babbled about ‘feeling the earth’. I really didn’t want to listen to the psycho-babble (which hasn’t changed) and found laughing at some of ... Sat, 1 Mar 2014 09:59:28 EST Sunshine After being stuck in the endless abyss of nights (whether this be working nights or little light outside during the day time) it is very nice to get some much needed sunshine.

I know that most people would not think about the way that the environment outside affects their mood and their eating habits, but after living in Alaska for the last three years- it is something that cannot be avoided. Now- I am not going to and blame weight gain on the fact that it is dark outside, but I ... Wed, 10 Aug 2011 10:58:16 EST Taste of Home Addict Food and bad decisions. That is probably what ultimately brought all of us to this point- where we have weight that we want to get off and we are having to learn how to do this the wise way, the right way. Where we stop looking at food as our enemy and find a way to have fun with it without over-indulging.

I can absolutely admit that there are days when I will slip and have a bad day and eat things that really aren't that good for me, but these days are few and far between now.... Thu, 28 Jul 2011 11:41:32 EST Reflections Talking about this last year is something that is not exactly easy and it is something that is not necessarily inspirational. It is a reality, a reality that cannot be avoided. About a year ago, I was diagnosed with a thyroid disease called Graves' Disease and while the disease has been treated, the after effects were something that was far less than desirable.

My initial goal was to reach 140 by this December and as the time has gone by and I have continued to struggle with my ...
