It is a great a reminder that plants, veggies, and fruit should be our main source of food. I know that I feel so much BETTER when I eat a majority of fruits and veggies. So, I'm gonna try my best to do that.

EAT TO LIVE 6-WEEK PLAN

From the book Eat to Live: The Revolutionary Formula for Fast and Sustained Weight Loss by Dr. Joel Fuhrman

UNLIMITED (eat as much as you want):

all raw v... Wed, 26 Sep 2012 12:47:05 EST Week 9 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4771735 I have a good feeling about March. Feeling motivated to do well this week.

I just read this article from PeerTrainer: http://www.peertrainer.com/diet/how-do-you
-burn-fat.aspx

It looks at a few facts and research studies to determine which foods and types of exercise help burn fat. Pretty interesting. Though, I realized after reading the article that it was all things that I knew instinctively, but don't always put them into practice. I think this week is a good time ... Mon, 5 Mar 2012 11:29:30 EST Week 8 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4760394 A much better week. Not much logging, but a LOT of walking.

The start of Lent on Wednesday has helped me reassess my priorities, like my eating habits and activity levels.

There was a bit more emotional eating this week, but I made it a priority to not be too hard on myself. Beating myself up over mistakes is really not healthy, not to mention a waste of energy.

Goals for this week:
Log food and activity every day
Walk at least 2 miles every day Mon, 27 Feb 2012 19:49:54 EST Weeks 6-7 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4747715 Right, the last couple of weeks haven't been the greatest, as my focus has been elsewhere (job searching, etc.). I haven't logged very much of anything, but I haven't gone overboard on overeating either. My activity has left something to be desired. As a result of my lack of discipline, I have gained back a couple pounds, but no biggie.

I am determined not to feel guilty or disappointed, because this isn't a race. It's a journey towards a healthier me, so I'm allowed to take my tim... Mon, 20 Feb 2012 12:46:41 EST 2012--Week 5 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4725306 A pretty decent week. There were some rather "indulgent" days, where I ate a bit more than I usually would, but nothing really off the chart. Just a couple days where I went over my calorie range, but I enjoyed every single bite! I managed to get in a few miles with plenty of hills over the course of the week, which helped to balance every thing out. I am down 1.5 pounds this week, meaning by next week I will hopefully break that 200 mark. Total of 11.5 pounds gone. Yeah!

I think I... Mon, 6 Feb 2012 13:27:50 EST 2012--Week 4 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4716510 A really good week. Lots and lots of walking. As of this past Monday, I'm down 2 more pounds, making a total of 10 pounds gone since Christmas (8 pounds for the month of January).

The Weight-Loss Retreat this weekend was really amazing. It was incredibly relaxing with plenty of delicious vegetarian food to be had, and I gained a lot of good weight-loss/wellness guidelines and tools. The teacher taught a lot about mindfulness, specifically while eating. So taking your time is strong... Wed, 1 Feb 2012 13:01:53 EST 2012--Week 3 Reflection http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4699096 Down 2 more pounds this week, making that a total of 8 pounds gone since my birthday in December. *little dance* I have managed to log every single little teeny-weeny thing that I have consumed in the past three weeks, which is absolutely amazing for me. I am being brutally honest about it, too. I don't think I've ever been so diligent about a food log before, but it pays off, apparently.

I discovered a great blog that I think everyone should read: www.canyoustayfordinner.com. The... Mon, 23 Jan 2012 13:51:23 EST 2012--Week 2 Reflection http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4689330 Week 2 (and a half) down. A bit of a struggle week this time with some bumps and a few extra calories along the way. I still managed, though, to log everything I ate and all the activities that I did. So, I am very proud of that.

I took my "before" picture at the beginning of last week, and I had a seamstress friend take my measurements. Now I have something to compare my results to and to possibly motivate me throughout this year. I did end up weighing in last Monday on the 9th, a... Wed, 18 Jan 2012 14:33:19 EST 2012--Week 1 Reflection http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4668914 I've successfully completed Week 1, and I have to say it went pretty well. I have been feeling determined, but not worrisome or obsessed. Usually, "Week 1" of anything is kind of a "Panic Week" for me. This time, though, I feel a bit more relaxed, a bit more confident, a bit more experienced. I feel comfortable and relieved.

I've done this before. I know what works and what doesn't. Having a food diary is an old habit that I am picking up now, and exercising daily is something that... Mon, 9 Jan 2012 14:00:18 EST
