CGREEN9310's SparkPeople Blog CGREEN9310's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community TF 'Almost' High Kick I am on DAY 23 of my TurboFire Challenge. WHooh! I begin the "Recovery Week" today. Recovery? Not really. I decided to start this challenge at Week 9 on the 20-week schedule. SInce I broke down and purchased the Advanced Classes, I figured I need to make it count.
Recovery Week is the last week of a 4 week period. Each section has them. Basically it is Cardio-ing your booty off with additional stretching. So, in comparrison with the 3-days/week HIIT I have been doing for the past 3 week... Mon, 11 Mar 2013 09:37:45 EST Smokin' Hot in 90-days Challenge I entered a contest. I can't believe it. I am still sitting here thinking to myself "someone IS going to see those before pictures that have my face on them!"

Normally, I would just follow the contest rules and do the challenge and then only be judged by myself. I don't know what came over me this time.

I saw the challenge posted on the TurboFire facebook page and I entered it. WHAT? Yeah. After I submitted my entry "form" and my DAY 1 PHOTOS (yikes...and yuck) I felt si... Thu, 21 Feb 2013 10:33:54 EST Another Round Today is the beginning of another round of TurboFire. I am not convinced that doing exactly the same thing again will have the same results so I need to give it a little boost.

I searched and searched trying to find the "Advanced" dvds for my basic Turbo Fire that I already have. The Beachbody website was killing me today. What I have and what they list are so completely different. DVDs that I already have (Core, Tone, Sculpt) are listed as the "Advanced" set and the ones that I ne... Sun, 17 Feb 2013 19:15:46 EST TurboFire Results I am SUCH a hypocrite!
I was all gung-ho with my fitness and health journey and I SWORE that I would make it through the holidays and keep on track. I had so much energy and motivation, apparently, that I was "inspiring" my friends. Yeah, they actually told me that. "You are so positive about everything. How do you do it?!"
I have no idea. I have no answer. ..and to be honest, I have no motivation to do anything.
I thought that I would just pick back up and keep moving and I ... Thu, 7 Feb 2013 10:54:29 EST Mind-full ramblings You'll have to bear with me while I process through my funk.
I keep waffling back and forth between feeling super motivated to get healthy and fit and hot followed by a I'll-get-to-it-when-this-passes mentality.

My husband is getting ready to leave and as the days get closer I feel myself wanting to just spend as much time with him as I can. The suck thing about that is that the logical side of me is like "hey, lets go do some things together and make the most of our time lef... Sat, 12 Jan 2013 11:04:23 EST A year ago I was sitting here playing with my 14 month old and thinking about where I was a year ago.

A year ago I was sitting around staring at dark red curtains in my living room. The kind of dark red that would hang in old castles that had cold stone walls and torches on the walls for light. I was sitting in my gloomy living room staring at my tiny baby wanting to just sleep. The dark red curtains were chosen due to their functionality. They were the energy saving curtains that would help... Thu, 3 Jan 2013 13:20:48 EST Its a New Day I don't know why I allowed this to happen...
I completely lost focus for the month of December. While I did eat fairly well (2 occasions of restaraunt food) the only exercise that I did was a TON of walking (several 10,000+ step days - Thank you, Fitbit) and lately a TON of shoveling snow. I am currently at a 9-day streak with the snow. I threw in some KINECT Zumba and Dance Central. I also went up to the Community Center with my workout buddy a few times. However, I neglected my TurboF... Sun, 30 Dec 2012 10:19:39 EST Week in Review You know there are these delicious little holiday treats that I found. twist pretzels coated in peppermint white chocolate. Mmmmm. Have I ever mentioned that I absolutely love peppermint? I do. Too much. I ate a lot of them. But they are so gooooooood!

I was totally out of the loop the past week.

My mom came to visit (haven't seen her in over a year) and even though I had every intention of keeping my momentum with SP, it didn't happen.
I did aweful. SO aweful that ... Wed, 19 Dec 2012 17:25:09 EST Telling On Myself Oh my gosh! I have been absent for a week! My mom is in town visiting me and leaves for home Tuesday morning but I wanted to post a quick blog.
This blog is actually me telling on myself.
I have been eating aweful this week. LOTS of snacking and on one of the days, I totally skipped logging any of my food. I have been pretty consistant with logging food since I started SP. Actually, I have been absolutely consistant. Of course the one day that I did not log my food was the day of t... Sat, 15 Dec 2012 16:48:13 EST I deleted it.
I just spent 20 minutes typing up a big long rant about my weight, my scale, my day off that I took this week from working out, how it totally backfired on me because I gained this week, and how much I hate staying positive only to hit the WALL OF REALITY.

Then I deleted the whole thing. I don't want to go to that place. I don't want to wallow. I don't want to get down on myself.

Its one week. Not my best week, but its one week. Does it throw my goals off? Yes.... Sun, 9 Dec 2012 18:56:24 EST Busy Day Dropping the Ball I just KNOW that today is going to come and bite me in the behind!
Today was a busy day. I had decided to go shopping for my first phase reward of new jeans. Well, that is a 20 min drive one way. On the way, I picked up a friend who I have not seen in a few months. She wasn't ready when I got there, but thats okay.
We went out to the mall and I got some jeans...The GOOD news here is that when I tried on the size 12 that I thought I was going to be, they were too big for me...WOOHOO... Fri, 7 Dec 2012 21:19:29 EST Upping the ante to 500 calories I want to burn 500 a day. Thats 3500/week not including my normal every-day business.

I was looking over the schedule for this new phase of TurboFire that I have just entered. I have begun Week 5 " The CARDIO Phase"....I actually like cardio. For my body, this is the one area where I seem to see the biggest results.
That being said, I have gone through the history on my SP Fitness tracker and learned something. I have been logging the mileage that my FitBit records for my Tur... Mon, 3 Dec 2012 12:43:42 EST 30 Day Results of TurboFire I have completed the first 30 days of TurboFire. YAY! I stuck with something longer than a week!

Anyway, I don't have a photo to include with this blog (I will post progress photo at 60 days).

But, measurment wise, I think I did pretty good...

Overall weight loss: 6.6 pounds 41

Overall inches lost: 12.35 224

Day-1 Measurments (November 1):
Weight 178.8
Bust 38.00
Waist 36.00
Hips 46.... Sat, 1 Dec 2012 08:59:42 EST TurboFire Obsessions TurboFire has made me obsessed...OBSESSED.
Obsessed with looking at the damn scale.
Obsessed with checking out my new waist.
Obsessed with working harder.
Obsessed with the elusive burpee (although I sort of did a kind of half-a$$ one a couple days ago).
Obsessed with measurments.
Obsessed with achievements.
Obsessed with smaller clothes and/or better fitting ones.
Obsessed with proving something (although I am not sure what that is yet).
Obsessed ... Thu, 29 Nov 2012 10:52:48 EST Walking with my Soldier I came up with an idea...Actually, I have been talking about it with my husband for a couple of months and then one of the Spark Teams that I am a part of is doing something similar so I thought I would just do this in addition.

My husband is getting ready to deploy fairly soon. I told him (because he is Infantry and I assumed they walk everywhere) that I wanted to walk the miles that he walks. HOWEVER, due to his mission, he apparently will not be doing as much walking as I had as... Mon, 26 Nov 2012 10:00:08 EST THE GAME..and snacks Here's how it plays out...
The Saturday after Thanksgiving is the OSU v. UofM game...The biggest college football rivalry (I lived in Georgia and the Georgia/ Alabama rivalry amongst fans is not as big as this).
Anyway...For THE GAME, we usually have a ton of snacks - loaded nachos, hotdogs, chips and dip, meat and cheese trays, soda (or pop - whichever you call it), cookies of some sort....Anyway, its a big deal.

This year, I will be having a "spread" of a small meat a... Sat, 24 Nov 2012 10:03:16 EST New Thanksgiving Day Traditions Motivation has led me to create a new family tradition. Thats actually not true. I had heard this on some television talk show this week and decided to steal the idea and make it part of our family Thanksgiving.

It doesn't happen a lot that it gets up near 60 degrees on Thanksgiving here in the "North Country" upstate NY. It did today though!!

SO in honor of the warm weather we did our own "Turkey Trot 3K". Thats right. We got the kids ready and they rode theri bikes wh... Thu, 22 Nov 2012 20:45:45 EST Photo Blogginess Complete This is the end. Wed, 21 Nov 2012 19:23:45 EST My fish is swimming backwards!! UGH...weigh in day.
Normally I can't wait for weigh in day. There are so many times when the fish doesn't swim anywhere and every once in a while that fish moves a few ounces or pounds in the right direction. (I have a fish swimming on my weight tracker ticker thingymabob). Today, I honestly almost didn't save my weight because I didn't want anyone to notice that the fish swam the wrong way. Stupid right?!
I know that I am getting smaller and building a lot of muscle...I can feel i... Sun, 18 Nov 2012 09:06:55 EST Eating like crap today. Or am I? I find a way to make a new recipe for dinner at least 4 times a week. Much to the chagrin of my children. There have been several times (black bean croquets, vegetarian chili, butternut squash...and so on) that my children have faked sick to get out of eating dinner and opted for an early bedtime. 40

Anyway, they have been begging for hotdogs for about 2 weeks now. I have tried twice to substitute "fish and chips" for the hotdog argument. 4

TONIGH... Sat, 17 Nov 2012 18:21:11 EST DAY 25-26 Superheroes and Kissyface Photo bloggity for the day (or the past two days or something like that)

Day 25 - A picture of your favorite super hero and why
I have two:

Wonder Woman - She is beautiful. She is a woman. She fights bad guys and armies in battle...and she has awesome weapons. I mean c'mon - indestructable bracelets? Yeah, I'll take some of those. Thu, 15 Nov 2012 17:49:06 EST Eye-Opener: TurboFire, FitBit, HRM So discouraged but glad I figured this out. Feel like I need a big "DUH" speech bubble floating over my head.

Awhile ago I had posted a blog about how I had burnt 505 calories during the HIIT 15 Class on TurboFire. Well...that apparently was not true. I didn't purposely mislead anyone. I DIDN'T KNOW....
FitBit had that as my calorie burn...but that included ALL of the calories my body had been burning...That is the BIGGEST THING I do not like about FitBit. Sure, track the calo... Tue, 13 Nov 2012 10:56:20 EST DAY 23-24 Amusing I have a couple of minutes to post my Photo Bloggity-blog and catch up with the couple that I missed.

My favorite book...Well, I used to read a lot of books...However, that was a long time ago when I had more time. Now, the reading I do it short and sweet. I love "Self" and "Fitness" magazine. I do have two books that I go back and forth through. I have not finished either one of them but they are hilarious so when I need a 'pick-me-up' on a bad day I go to these books for a chapte... Tue, 13 Nov 2012 09:54:37 EST 10-Day TurboFire Results I'm taking a break from Picture Blogginess today to bask in the awesomeness of TurboFire.

I bogged on Monday that TurboFire may be my hero...well, let me tell you - it is! While I would really like to see a consistant scale move, I am happy with what I found today.

I have been doing TurboFire for 10 days. I started at the beginning of November with my eyes set on the 90 day goal. My 90 day goal... Sun, 11 Nov 2012 20:38:20 EST DAY 22 Difficult People I have a personality problem. Although, sometimes it comes in handy, there are a lot of things I need to - REALLY NEED TO - work on. I am a difficult person. I am stubborn. I am persistant. I am 'usually' and over-achiever. I am competitive. I am a perfectionist on occasion. I am a control freak! I wouldn't necessarily say I am a drama queen (I prefer for things to be calm and controlled), but I sure do manage to get sucked into the drama of others.

I have a husband who is close to... Sat, 10 Nov 2012 15:08:06 EST DAY 21- You want me to do a WHAT? First let me start off by saying I do not do CrossFit. I know people who do CrossFit and they look amazing, but I do not do CrossFit. I do TurboFire.
...I barely do TurboFire. I try as hard as I can and I count that. Today while I was doing my TF Fire 30 Class, I actually paid attention to this particular move that I have had to amend because I am not able to do it yet (you know, follow the modifier). Chalene calls it the sumo squat something-or-other...Well, I googled it...Its a freak... Fri, 9 Nov 2012 17:31:50 EST Weightloss=Friendloss? I have a fairweather friend. Has anyone else experienced this? She and I had about 60 pounds to lose at the beginning of August. We were going to be eachother's accountability / workout buddies. We were both really excited about it. We were both really happy when we started finding different apps to use on our phones to help us out. We were both going to do this. Apparently I was serious and she was just blowing smoke. It wasn't until we started (well I started) to get serious about it that ... Fri, 9 Nov 2012 10:06:31 EST DAY 20 "Postmarked Tombstone" Have I ever mentioned that out of all the places I have lived, that Arizona was my favorite? I only lived there for a few months while I was in school and honestely I didn't get out much. I have only really been to Sierra Vista (which is where my school was), Tombstone (which was so much fun), Pheonix, and Tuscon. On top of that, it was a military school so getting out and seeing the sights wasn't really in the cards for me at the time. I would LOVE to go back. Since it has been 14 years sin... Thu, 8 Nov 2012 17:56:22 EST DAY 19
I don't have any nicknames. Mostly because...well...I just don't. Although one time a boss I had a couple of years ago said to me
"Why do I always sense a Candace-ending tone to your answers?" That stuck for a while and some of my co-workers who I am still friends with call me Candacender. But its not a nickname.

Day 19 - A picture of your nicknames you have; why do you have them.

No pictures today... :(

On a weight related note - I had been stuck ... Wed, 7 Nov 2012 20:12:24 EST DAY 18 - Stretch marks I have them. I'm know..I know...everyone has them. Well, not everyone. Most people who have carried a baby have them. Majority of people who have lost significant weight have them. A lot of people who have gained a lot of weight have them. I got it.

Here are some things that I have been told about my stretch marks:
"You should be happy that you have stretch marks from having a baby - think about all of the people who can't get pregnant...the people who will never be able to ex... Tue, 6 Nov 2012 19:44:34 EST Day 16& 17...I'm a slacker I can't think of anyone in particular who inspires me besides my kids and other various members of my family. So "Day 16 - A picture of someone who inspires you" is kind of a bust.
Although I will say this, there are several military service members that are amputees and are still serving on active duty. They inspire me. There is one woman in particular, Melissa Stockwell, who is not only a former Army officer, an amputee due to roadside bomb in Iraq, but also a two time world champion... Mon, 5 Nov 2012 19:01:06 EST TurboFire may just be my Hero I have mentioned a couple of times that my husband so generously gave me TurboFire as an early Christmas present as well as a FitBit. Let me tell you about something amazing that happened just now (well, about 15 minutes ago).
I had done my TF Fire 30 Class this morning.
**Thank you, God for letting my baby sleep in a little longer so I could do this before she woke up.**
The Fire 30 Class is NOT my favorite. I have done the 55EZ, the Fire 45, and the Fire 30 up to this point ... Mon, 5 Nov 2012 16:19:17 EST Day 15 Bucket List? There are so many things that I would love to be able to experience. DIfferent places, different foods (in moderation of course), different cultures...I love going to new places and seeing new things. Every time I have moved I try to get to as many historical sites as possible because I LOVE history. I have been fortunate enough to go visit Hawaii while my little brother was stationed there. I have hoping like crazy that my husband gets stationed there soon and we get the opportunity to live ... Sat, 3 Nov 2012 20:09:25 EST Day 14 - Only a few days ago Can I just say that I am STARTING to get comfortable in front of the camera again?
There was always a running joke in my family that if there was a reflective surface I was looking in it. If there was a camera around, I wanted to be in a picture. I loved it! It sounds totally narcissistic. To be completely honest, as I remember it I was a narcissistic child. But majority of little girls love to look in the mirror. Both of mine do. My 7yo will spend hours in front of the mirror singing to... Fri, 2 Nov 2012 18:14:42 EST November - Bring it Christmas came early for me. It is getting colder here every day. My walks are not going to be happening for some time so I have had to figure out how to still get myself healthy.
Luckily, my husband supports this mission of mine. A couple days ago, TurboFire arrived for me. I have seriously been talking about this for weeks so I am very excited for it. I started today. Not too terrible...up until about an hour ago. Now my legs are killing me! No worries though because I have this disgus... Thu, 1 Nov 2012 20:30:36 EST Day 11, 12, 13..because I got busy Photo bloggy-ness

Day 11 - A picture of your IPOD or other music playing device on shuffle, and then list the first 10 songs that play.

* I'm not really sure how to post a picture of this but I will list the first 10 songs.
Mind you, I only use my iPod for working out so this is my workout music:
1) Are We All We Are - P!NK
2) 5150 - Dierks Bentley
3) Walk - Foo Fighters
4) M83 - Midnight City
5) Numb/ Encore - Linkin Park & Jay-z
6) I... Thu, 1 Nov 2012 17:00:34 EST I CAN'T BELIEVE IT I am so excited right now! I have two awesome goals accomplished in the last 48 hours..
First, I got on the scale yesterday because I just felt a little lighter and guess what -- I am officially out of the 180s! Yep. 178. SO of course I had to go and check my BMI calculator because that "OBESITY CATEGORY" has been really bothering me. Turns out I am now "Overweight" (duh). No more Obesity Category for me! So happy about that 334

Second, I did my Trick or Treat Tr... Wed, 31 Oct 2012 10:45:05 EST DAY10 Closest Friend I don't get to see her nearly enough.

Day 10 - A picture of your closest friend

Tue, 30 Oct 2012 12:16:48 EST Sleep Diary 8 This is going to be my last blog sleep diary entry. I have decided that I am going to do the sleep diaries somewhere else because well, I have no idea how to make these a "private" entry and quite frankly, I feel like this is a boring thing to read and if someone comes upon my blog and wants to read it there is no entertainment value to the sleep diaries. There is no motivational value to these blogs. They don't help anyone by reading the same thing over and over. So, I'm just going to write... Tue, 30 Oct 2012 08:58:39 EST Day 09 Three Reasons To Keep Moving I'm here because I didn't have any pictures with my baby for the first 9 months of her life because I was "too fat to be in the picture". Turns out, I don't have any pictures during that time frame with any of my kids. Sure I have pictures of them doing stuff...without me. I sat there and watched them do fun things. While they were doing fun things I hid behind the camera or THEIR bag of snacks. I have three very active kids. One who wants to run around everywhere or ride his bike, one who co... Mon, 29 Oct 2012 20:16:20 EST Sleep Diary 7 Not as irritated today. Although that may have something to do with the kids having school LOL.
Slept a lot better last night. I made it up to bed at 9:30 and the tv was off at 9:45. My husband had to leave to go into work at 10 so him not watching tv helped I think. The baby was a up a few times last night but not for long periods of time. Still waiting for the tooth to come through.

Lesson learned - go to bed before 9:30 and stick with turning the tv off at 9:45.
... Mon, 29 Oct 2012 13:47:32 EST Day 08 Why so blue?
What a stressful day!
I'm sure the sleep thing had a lot to do with it but I could not get on my game today! Its almost 7pm and I stillhave 400+ calories left to eat today. My baby screamed for 3 really. she screamed and cried for 3 hours today. Poor baby. I had a pile of coupons that I needed to go through so I can make our grocery list for the week/ month. I couldn't get my laundry done...Its done, just not all folded. On top of that, family drama is never fun. I swear... Sun, 28 Oct 2012 19:01:20 EST Sleep Diary 5 Restless night again. Same as the night before...husband has to go into work at random times in the night and the baby is taking for-ev-er to cut that tooth.
Fell asleep probably around 11 and got up at 7am. The older kids have been screaming and slamming doors since about 6:45.

I drank some nasty protien last night. I did strength training on the Total Gym and this stuff is supposed to help with muscle soreness. It tastes like oatmeal...If I haven't already mentioned I HATE ... Sun, 28 Oct 2012 09:31:44 EST DAY 06-07 Jon Stewart and Marriage I completely lost track of time yesterday and didn't post my photo of the day so today is a twofor.

Day 06 - A picture of a person you'd love to trade places with for a day

I would like to trade places with pretty much anyone on the staff at "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart", any guest of the show, or any member of the audience for the show. Not Jon Stewart himself though. I don't care what po... Sat, 27 Oct 2012 17:52:06 EST Sleep Diary 4 Sore muscles make for a restless night.
I didn't get into bed until 10 to 10 last night. That wasn't really the problem though. All sorts of things last night threw me off. Plans changing at the last minute, a late run to evil WalMart, hyper kids, teething baby, and my husband had to go into work at 12:30 to check on some soldiers who don't know how to do the right thing.
The television was on until 10:30, so I didn't get to sleep until then and on top of that we were watching a re... Sat, 27 Oct 2012 14:18:17 EST Sleep Diary 3 I tossed and turned all night. The temperature yesterday got up in the 70s. I had extra blankets on the bed from when it was in the 30s a couple nights ago. I could not get comfortable last night.
My husband likes to watch tv and fall asleep to the tv at night. I don't. So last night he had the baby in the bed watching "Kung Fu Panda"...Then I had to say several times "Hey, remember I'm doing the sleep thing and I need to be asleep by 10?" Well, for whatever reason, he was annoyed by t... Fri, 26 Oct 2012 07:37:23 EST DAY 05-Taking Care of Momma I think that all moms tend to have the same "problem". At least all of the moms that I know's natural for us to put everyone before ourselves. When it comes to ourselves, our health, our fitness, and even sometimes our own happiness, it tends to get put on the backburner. There is always, diapers to change, booboos to kiss, homework to check, meals to make, houses to clean, jobs to get to, etc. It doesn't leave a lot of time for reading a good book, catching a movie above "PG" rating,... Thu, 25 Oct 2012 21:20:15 EST Sleep Diary 2 The questionaire is confusing me because I have no idea which day it is talking about and updating an entry both morning and night is starting to stress me out.
Here is what I have learned in 2 days (through experience and apparently what my husband has noticed about my sleeping):

- If I go upstairs to go to bed at 9/9:30 and I DON'T have the tv on for more than 15 minutes, then I will fall asleep by 10.
-If I only snuggle with my wiggle-worm baby for 15 minutes and the... Thu, 25 Oct 2012 11:00:28 EST DAY 04 and thank God for DVR I have got two different "daily blog" things going and I'll tell you that A.D.D. is making it confusing for me so hopefully I am not confusing anyone who actually reads my blogs LOL.
*This is the picture blog in case you were wondering because when I opened this up to post I had to go back twice to make sure I was posting the correct one haha.

I LOVE my DVR!!! There are so many great shows on television and in the evenings my husband and I like to unwind by watching our shows.... Wed, 24 Oct 2012 21:09:04 EST Sleep Diary 1.5 I've decided to do the 30 day Sleep Challenge. I'm hoping that if I have a routine that my 1yo will get into a better routine and then both of us will sleep through the night.
I started yesterday with the goal of being ASLEEP by 10 and not hitting the snooze at 7 when the alarm goes off.

Since I started yesterday, this first entry is going to be a little back-dated:

1. What time did you wake up today? 10/23 -- 7am-ish...turned alarm off and didnt get out of bed unt... Wed, 24 Oct 2012 12:05:00 EST
