By supporting him, I lost 12 pounds. Anyhow, because we supported each other, It wasnt as hard as it seemed. He bought a juicer, we set up a kitchen station with a blender, a cutting board and the new juicer. We Juice 4 times a day and can accomplish this because we wash the parts and reset up immediately after we finish juiceing. I can foresee myself going 100% veg... I made the Pastitsio(page 290) and the Shepherds Pie (page 157). You may be wondering why I cooked two. I have noticed that if I eat two WW meals on any given day I stay well within my calories. The Pastitsio was good but the Shepherds pie was great, so I will detail that meal for you.

1 tablespoon of butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup low sodium chicken broth
1 teaspoon salt
1/... I'm a single working mom and have been for 17 years now. My three children have menu's memorized at every fast food establishment in the Bernalillo county area. My parents divorced when I was 13 and I really didn't get much culinary preparation growing up. On February 19th I started Weight Watchers on my own armed with a points slider a... Wed, 10 Mar 2010 13:28:37 EST My 1st Marathon in 30 years! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2677652 Today I ran my 1st Marathon in 30 years. It is part of my new years resolution, so when I saw that there was a marathon in my area on New Years Day, I jumped at the chance to run in it. It was called the Egg Nog Jog and it was 4 miles. The only people who finished after me were walkers and not runners. Some things I learned were not to overdress/over prepare. I had a light jacket on and a camel back pack because I was afraid to dehydrate. Only one water bottle would have been sufficient.... The pro-active cop goes out and prevents crimes, and the Re-active seeks out criminals after the crime has been committed. When it comes to health some people are pro-active, like my oldest son, he works out and never pigs out because he never wants to get out of shape. Up to this point in my life I have been Re-active. I never started trying to get into shape until I was way out of shape 1st. Some of the teams I belong to here on Spar... Thu, 24 Apr 2008 13:34:47 EST SETTING REALISTIC GOALS http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1153281 We've all heard the cliché "Gotta start somewhere". But, where does goal setting go from setting ourselves up for a disappointment to realistic goals?

My old pastor used to have a saying that he used to inspire his less than motivated teenagers. It goes like this "I need to see measurable progress over a reasonable amount of time".

If you set a goal to loose 3 pounds in two years. You have the measurable progress but perhaps that amount of time was way too relaxed... Sat, 19 Apr 2008 13:48:14 EST Make time and stop trying to find it. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1148060 Ok...I caught myself doing it. Making an excuse that I ran out of time to do my crunches. I am proud that on that busy day I made time for my cardio workout, but, I should have also made time for the crunches, especially if I want this to be part of my way of life. Yes, my family is going to have to get used to me making this commitment to my health if they want me to continue serving them and be there for my grandchildren as well. It is okay to say no for the greater good of my own healt... Wed, 16 Apr 2008 23:14:21 EST Accept the Challenge! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1143230 Many of us started on SparkPeople in January as a New Years Resolution and are starting to master the nutrition and fitness logs. Something I discovered last month really brought me to a new place in my program. I was challenged by my Christian Music Lovers team to lose 10 lbs by Easter. Even though I only lost 7 lbs by Easter I realized that having many short term goals really helped me break down the long term goal into a series of doable challenges. I have since accepted a challenge on... Tue, 15 Apr 2008 01:17:11 EST Guilt trip eating-found on SparkPeople http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1109410 We've all been told not to waste food as children. Take a look at this quote from either Anne Landers or Miss Manners concerning the guilt trip we have been fed.

"Waste happens when the food is purchased, not when it's eaten or discarded. Once excess food leaves the store, it's wasted, because that's the point where it's no longer available to anyone who really needs it. Once someone buys it, it's not going to feed any starving children in other parts of the world. If you eat tha... Mon, 31 Mar 2008 14:26:10 EST Getting over the Carbohydrate Addiction http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=984736 I did pretty well controlling my carbs this week until Super Bowl Sunday. It started out as a busy day so my normal meal planning was off. My son and I shared a frito pie at the bowling alley. (is anything healthy ever found at a bowing alley?). AND THE CRAVINGS STARTED BACK AGAIN. What I call the dueling cravings, the fritos were salty that made me crave sweets, I had a drink of soda.... The soda was sweet so I needed salt....I bought a popcorn....And at the end of the day....I DOUBLED m...
